depends on your team, solo arena is probably nade engy that hovers between home and mid throwing 1500 range nades on everything.
I mainly just hate tank warriors, they give the good warriors (greatsword/longbow) a bad name. Actually I hate all tank builds, and all condi builds, and all classes that can go invis. ya, all of that.
it would be very tedius, tiring on the winning team though.
matches in gw1 random arena was usually over within a minute.
matches in gw2 conquest mode solo arena ranges from 7 – 10 minutes.
Most high gladiators from gw1 had to play for 2-3 hours straight with no breaks for each 25 win streak in order to get maximum points, I have done 100s of those over the years, so 5 wins in a row for solo q is basically nothing.
When they add 2v2 or 3v3 death match then this will work great, but atm it just cant work because of the rating system and general lack of population. After I hit top 400ish I really started to notice the wait times, but now that im top 100 it is like 10 min between matches :/
mmr reset a couple months ago but the scores stayed the same, mine says 34-18 but I was 12-12 before reset so my current score is actually 22-6. He probably just had a really terrible first half too haha.
As John mentioned previously, we don’t plan on retroactively awarding rank points for previous wins. We will, however, be rebalancing rank tiers to make them more attainable.
gw1 gladiator style?
oh no, the horror, random people made a couple hundred gold, this totally effects you…
a few things important to survive a warrior:
1. dodge
2. use your heals
3. eat foodmost of the time players don’t do 1 – 2.
Food is for wvw scrubs
lf a somewhat regular ta grp on na.
Hit top 300 on team q playing solo and got sub 100 in solo q last night, main war/necro.
Please let player housing have upgrades for doing well on pvp ladders
and maybe guildhalls with tournaments too!
Just wait, eventually the meta will evolve to 5 tank warriors per team running each of the banners with 1 token warrior using healing shouts and everyone will just meet in the middle spamming sword autos.
Once I figured out you could SoloQ in TeamQ that was it. I’m literally never playing SoloQ again. No skyham/spirit watch, chance of getting organized pugs, better rewards? Why on earth would I do SoloQ.
bragging rights
I’ll take spirit watch over skyhammer any day of the week. If all of the glass platforms were removed from hammer, point A and C. And railing was added all around the hammer, then the map would be decent.
As it stands the map gives many classes a unfair advantage. Dealing with engineer at the hammer is a nightmare. Holding point A and C against stealth thieves with scorpion wire is a nightmare.
There is just too much focus on knocking your enemy off the cliff for a instant kill.
ya there is literally no counterplay against thieves on a/c besides rng dodge and poppiing stability as you get pulled towards (which is actually a huge rush and really fun) your death.
skyhammer best map it’s like playing call of duty!
“THEY ARE CALLING IN AN ORBITAL STRIKE GET DOWN” BOOOOOM WOOOOSH CRASH BANG!!!"
Ever since I got out of elo hell (I lost 9 matches in a row from afk/dc’s 2nd day solo q came out) solo q has been great, my queues are never longer than 3 min and the matches are always fun. I’ve only done 27 matches since the reset but im 22-5 atm so there arnt really any noobs anymore.
I love solo queue. There’s a kind of challenge in trying to see who can help out their noobs the best.
LOL. Elitist, but probably accurate.
On the weekend, my team turned around a 150 pt deficit in Skyham after I ‘asked’ them to stop zerging between points like a hotjoin and bunker. And yes, I’m totally claiming that.
Well he was 11th on the leaderboard today :P
I really love how all of the achievement farmers complain about the extra 4 points a day that they are “missing” out on. There is no obligation, no “achievement” in this game is even worth mentioning, even my gwamm title was 100% grind, maybe if they add hard pve or a more competitive pvp scene emerges then there will be something to brag about, but for now it is all so trivial.
Ya, even in beta I didn’t find any of the other classes very fun, all condi builds are for bads too so I can only really play guardian, war or power necro since stealth classes are also for bads :/
Games are a lot more fun when you get to the top 500ish, before that i had to carry through a lot of 4v5s because people are terrible at that level it was really easy to win anyway. I like soloq
GW really has become a horrible community…
This forum is a frothing cesspool of whiners and bads, I only come here when there is nothing new on reddit :/
Class: Warriors
1 – PU Mesmer (AI + Stealth + Heal and heal and heal)
2 – Engineer (AI + Stealth + heal and heal and heal)
3 – Spirit Ranger (AI + Stealth + heal and heal and heal)
I have been dueling really strong pu mesmers on my gs/lb warrior and can win about 50% of the time, it is pretty much one of the closest skill matchups in the game from what I can tell. The duels are always down to the wire and usually depend on if i get to use my stances twice or not. I always beat rangers, and I still need to learn what to dodge from engies(because there are sooo many skills that all do similar op damage) but with my dodge spam build I have a pretty good chance of beating them.
The things I have the most trouble with are actually really good necros and mace/s/lb wars. Engies too but I’d like to figure them out soon.
Warrior master race, do not anger the gods.
Class: Warrior
1. MM Necros (Belongs strictly in PVE)
2. Bunker Gaurdians
3. OP Mesmers that think they’re (good)
Decent ish warriors can beat necros and I’d hope that the top 5% at least can beat any mesmer. Because let’s be real here, mesmers are literally just pve fights, all of their damage comes from ai movement.
This is normally true but I have the trait that makes marks un-blockable.
evade isnt a block
just spam dodges because they’re spamming attacks
Do you have ANY idea how awful that sounds? Do you have ANY idea how awful it is that your advice is actually remotely valid in a game like GW2? Also, your dodges come back slower than an enemy’s condition spam recharges because condition spam just doesn’t stop.
GW2 PvP suffers from horrendous balance issues and bad design decisions.
Sarcasm…
Half of those ppl were upscaled, and at least a third had terrible gear, even with full glass war and 30 x x x 30 and full adren those 8k whirlwinds are crazy high.
a warrior complaining about a necro. l2p dude.
For real, if you have 2 warriors you can forsure kill at least 1 necro in the 10 seconds of zerker stance, shoulda won that team fight np.
Petting zoo was a direct response to hambows.
if you didn’t want to push the meta to passive builds, you shouldn’t’ve abused the stunlock meta all summer.
but hambow is a direct counter to petting zoo… it is all aoe damage
No OP, the problem is Healing Signet. It’s 100% passive and provides too much healing especially combined with the Adrenaline regen. Also, it scales too well.
Look at the Mesmer heal signet – it’s on a longer cooldown, heals for 33% less, hardly scales at all, and requires active action to maintain the passive buff.
If the warrior signet were designed like that, warriors would probably be in a fine place.
Mesmers have spammable invis and invuln and many more escapes, they also have access to protection.
On another note, I can beat pu with my gs/lb build but it is pretty much just a skill matchup, whoever dodges more of the high damage abilities will win. Using the same build I crush the other 2 petting zoo builds because I pve down the pets. Imo, warrior is really balanced and people just dont know how to play against them yet because they are so used to face rolling them with their broken condi spam. (hint: dodge roll)
tldr, 63 page pdf? More like a manual :P, if you want the people that will actually benefit from your work to read it you will have to cut it down to like 15 pages max, all of the play by play that you used as a script(?) should just be referenced by time stamps in your video.
You definitely need to summarize this quite a bit more before most people will actually read it.
Also that table of contents is killing my soul, please fix (you make headers and link them to the referenced pages and the dots are made automatically).
In terms of the guide, I cannot recommend zxc as utils because I have been doing it since beta and it is a terrible habit >.<. The quick tips page needs headers or dividers because right now it is an unreadable wall of text. Also all the good stuff like points about matchups and skill rotation / combos should be at the top and all the useless garbage that is already presented at the start in the quick overview like spec gear etc should be at the end in an appendix (because no one really needs the reasoning for the selection shoved in their face because most of it is pretty obvious).
I never thought i would be “technical reporterizing” a mesmer guide lol
I still cant believe that achievement whores are complaining about being able to get more points.
I still can’t believe people like you are still coming to this thread and can’t read before posting. I have a lack of faith in humanity, good example is the quoted post.
I dont bother reading trash posts because they are made by people that lose faith in humanity when someone disagrees with them, go back to /r/atheism.
Ima go out on a limb and say play for fun? This is a really dumb question holy cow.
Pindown has a very obvious projectile, it has a bit less than half a second travel time, good players can see and dodge it. Also like most projectiles, if you just strafe left right really fast you can dodge every single lb auto attack + pindown, same works for guardian scepter, necro staff, thief shortbow, lots of ranger attacks. Once again, just because everyone is too new to know about projectile mechanics dosent make a class op.
Sure friend, but you see, old sport, just because a warrior is using a longbow, it doesn’t mean the warrior will be at long range, in fact, warrior will use longbow f1, cover the whole point, and stand as close to you as possible so they hit arcing arrow. In reality there won’t be enough travel time to react to the different projectile. That is, if you can notice the projectile amid all the clutter.
Now it’s the time you tell me to keep my distance from the warrior. That implies leaving the point and that way I’m already loosing to the warrior. You guys can keep fooling yourselves and come up with all sorts of magical solutions, but there’s a reason this game is on life support.
There is a massive telegraph for arcing shot and if the warrior is somehow beside you with the longbow you are doing it terribly wrong.

Why are all of you kids complaining about optional content, this was meant to help pvpers get more achieve points because some people are rank 60+ and have sub 6k achieve points, you could do every single pve achieve in the game twice in the time it took to grind to 61.
“Oh no, I’m losing my position on a ladder based entirely off of how many dailies I do, I might as well give up and start having a life where I dont need to dedicate hours to a game every single day.”
Well, I suppose. The team queue population is small enough that you’d just have to be careful to not do very good in team queues, though. Nothing says fun like facing an e-sports level team with two solo players and a group of three WvW buddies.
I wouldn’t want to solo queue a team arena from an MMR very far within the top 1000.
#soloqueueintop500allday
warriors are op, gets me every time because warriors are perfect balance, although ele is probably .9 warrior while engy is like 1.25 warrior
I skimmed this thread for 30 min and pretty much everyone has no idea what they are talking about.
List of things no one seems to understand:
-All of the important longbow skills are beyond easy to avoid
-Hammer skills have massive telegraphs
-Stances have less than 20% uptime
-Cleansing ire realistically only removes 4 condis every 10 sec if the warrior is getting hammered
-It is a team game type, if you are fighting a build that is better than yours at 1v1 and losing that is your fault for not playing your role correctly or coordinating with your team.
-Condis are too strong overall, if you nerf zerker stance or cleansing ire or lys runes then warriors will go back to being the perma-chilled-weakened-blinded-confused-bleeding-burning-poisoned-crippled-punching-bags that they used to be.
-If you actually got hit by pin down and complain about how op warrior is you need to learn how to avoid projectiles and get off the forums.
Just because you dont know when to dodge dosent mean something is op (i thought shatter mesmers were the most op thing ever until I learned how to 100% avoid all of their high damage combos) it just means you are not good enough yet
Easy guide to never dying to a gs/s x mesmer:
-Dodge when you see the greatsword raised in one hand and the phant spinning towards you
-Dodge when you see an illusion leap towards you
gz you just beat a shatter mesmer.
tl;dr warriors are fine, mesmers are a bit op but not that much (pu mes really op at duels though MUCH INVIS) and l2dodge roll nublets
I really like the legendary dye idea unlocked via hard pve content (like actual hard stuff, like 2-3 groups of 5 teaming up to do stuff similar to the deep or doa)
Pve locker with unlockable skill base backpieces
Progression needs to be through difficult pve content that is unlocked, like pseudo raiding, please dont use the teq style where massive groups of people can just zerg it down. Scale it for 10-20 players where groups need to split up and have specific objectives.
i cant tell if shockwave is really slow or trolling.

Has anyone done better without using a cannon? (555 score in 9:38)
longbow was stronger and warriors used it all the time and no one complained about its damage a year ago, stop grabbing at straws rofl.
The armor is fine as is, it is only 64 stat points total with infusions. For character progression I would like there to be actual achievements that get some form of recognition through character housing or home instances.
Mainly WE NEED HARD PVE CONTENT because at the moment it is all about dodge rolls, this would have been good intro content but now there needs to be other mechanics like passing the plague around on putricide, or toggling switches, or focusing certain mobs before they wipe the group. There are so many awesome dungeon mechanics that you guys could draw from to create actual rewarding content.
Liandri was a good start, I’d rate her as a 4/10 on a scale of challenging pve encounters (killed her in 5 attempts first day with melee weapons/no condis), 8 light was probably a 6/10.
I know you guys are probably working on a new dragon fight for the next living story, maybe make a story mode for the dungeon that requires more than 5 ppl, do the separate paths thing like the deep. Then add hard parts to it where you collect an item from each path and you combine them to make new legendary armor sets or legendary jewelry .
Random Wish List:
-Mini games like snowball mayhem in custom arenas so friends can play together in teams. (can keep it seasonal)
-Guildhalls
-dueling
-legendary left and right side (change stat sets for everything and rune/infusions at will) for legendary armor maybe make it absorb runes and infusions then once you unlock it you can swap back whenever.
This did nothing to gameplay, it only made it possible to do cool animations. As soon as you do another animation it stops the looping one… You really shouldnt respond negatively when you have no idea what you are talking about.
It seems that some of the weapon swap glitches have been removed, such as the firebreathing guardian, it would be nice to get this feature back.
You weapon swap as you activate the skill and the animation loops for 30 seconds but can be refreshed with utility skills that dont break animation, such as shouts.
