You’re using cleric’s amulet, please dont try and say all your damage doesn’t come from your minions, since it does.
Also, this build is dreadful, and please move it to the necromancer section. Or maybe the WvW section
Lol no my minions keep me alive more then do damage. Play the build before posting plz. Thanks. (Obviously if playing an MM build your MINIONS will be doing a lot of damage but with this build your relying more on the toughness/life steal then the damage. DS might stack and dagger/focus with bone minion explode/Death Nova is where most damage comes from.) This build is a tanky build more then a DPS build. Cleric amulet give me JUST ENOUGH damage to take people. This build has no mobility so to put it in the WvW section wouldn’t make much sense if you think this is a WvW build you should take a second look.
Please if your going to comment on the build do me the courtesy of playing it first. Reading about something is not the same as actually doing.

So, let me get this straight. You think turret engis, MM necros, etc. are not as toxic to the community as a mesmer is? Dude, pull your head out of your butt and sop up the tears. Just because you can’t beat a good mesmer doesn’t mean anet should bring all classes and all specs down to your level. Not every class can be as mindless as turret engi or MM necros. If anything I implore more people to try shatter mesmer and try and run it efficiently. Go ahead, try it yourself. I bet you will re-think your whole argument when you die repeatedly cuz you think you can tab out and your illusions will do all the work for you like a turret engi. You are practically the only one making counter arguments to nerf one of the most balanced classes in the game.
If you think MM is mindless your an idiot. Just because you play MM by watching your minions attack while spamming 1 doesn’t mean that is the way MM is played. And I can say Mesmer is just as “mindless” because all you do is staff 2 run in circles and spam f1.
Firstly, it’s impossible to play shatter like that. In fact, besides PU, mesmer has little to no “mindless” specs.
Secondly, no idea about MM. I imagine that it is possible to MM mindlessly, but works better if the MM is smart about their management. Accurate?
Now, let’s get back on topic and disprove this Dudis’s assumption that he knows enough to call for a shatter nerf.
I main MM felt a bit offended by the comment. Lol. Continue with the discussion. Personally i feel Mesmer is fine how they are now. Shatter is effective but not over powered. (I don’t run Mesmer too much but from fighting against a bunch I never felt like they were invincible/unbeatable.)
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fRAQRBHRhG2IHNN12VjbNs3mYXQku1saTWcJkBeB-TJxHAB1eSAOZ/hlKDAwTAAA
I find this to be more effective. Playstyle is you CC, Immobilize, and Chill for your minions to track them down. Other than that, you just try to survive. Double energy really helps with that, and renewal sigils with Transfusion helps keep your minions up. Warhorn is really nice for interrupting a Guardian’s Shelter. If you do that well, you can debunker a Guardian incredibly fast.
I can see how your build might be effective. Personally I prefer mine a bit more because I don’t like to rely too much on my minions for damage. I like to use them more defensively. I can 1v2 effectively with the added toughness my minions grant me and the life force build up from dagger. Switching from DS and dagger/focus grants enough might that I do a good amount of damage while my minions heal me with their life per hit and my own life siphon skill. Focus is extremely useful because of the 3 boon rip and chill + damage. Add the death nova with bone minions constantly exploding and your doing enough damage to take people down while being sustained by all the life steal. Having 5 minions give me a lot more toughness. Staff also helps with condi/fear and regeneration. Personally I use the staff more for CC from fear then anything else to be honest. Dagger/Focus and DS is what I am running the majority of the time.
(edited by Zoso.8279)
Bunker MM? So basically you run around trying not to die while your pets do all the work?
Nope. No running. And your using dagger/focus more then staff.

Necro in GW2 are good just like GW1 imo. MM necro is how necros should be played. In GW1 MM would always make you feel like you were being swarmed and I still get that feeling from the MM in GW2.
+1
Beautiful.
MM for life.
Hello everyone, i’ve been playing MM since GW1 and I’ve always used the MM as a defensive build. This build is my personal build and it has been very good to me. Now with the new patch notes being released i’d like to share this build so everyone can try it out and see if they like it or not.

I agree with OP somewhat. It bothers me when I try to run a dungeon (full) people getting upset because I don’t skip this mob or I pulled this other mob. I like to play for fun and don’t want to feel like I’m being rushed especially when playing a video game. Why can’t we just play the game as was intended? The mobs were put there for a reason. Isn’t the whole point of running dungeons to have fun in the map and kill stuff? Not just rush through it to run it again to rush through it again. But I guess I always have a choice to just not run with ppl that rush….. even though that seems to be the majority of pugs…
DB (US)
Honestly these new class updates look pretty bad a#$. Im pumped for the patch.
Top 3
- Customizable Guild Halls
- Ability for small/medium sized guilds to be able to obtain all upgrades
- Guild Halls affect the world (PvE/WvW/PvP)
I’ve known the ToG was today and tomorrow but I never read the news on the official GW2 page. After reading the page I have to say +1 to Joshua Davis. I really liked the team descriptions. I think ill be going for APeX Prime tomorrow and The Civilized Gentlemen today.
What happened to me was I ran full story with a friend and got the completion for it and everything but once I checked my PS I had to “restart” it from the last place that I myself started the mission. Basically if I don’t start the missions even though I complete it with a friend I have to go back to it and start it so my PS reads it as complete.
Im currently trying to make a bunker Mesmer. PC has been overheating lately so haven’t been able to put too much time into it but I plan on upgrading my PC next week so I should be back at it soon. GW2 if I’m correct lets any class be DPS/Tank/Support which is nice for people who like to play around with builds.
Also their are nice DPS Meta builds for mesmers atm id advice checking out the forums to get a nice high DPS build.
If you have a perpetual far point pusher in your pug then just embrace it and work it into your team strat. Taking the initiative is not a bad thing unless you do it haphazardly – like letting him go by himself and praying he wins the match up. You’re not going to get very far with part of your team playing their own strat while the rest of you play another. The surest way to win is the path of least resistance.
Also, the 1-3-1 split requires both ’1’s to rotate accordingly. When far pusher is at far, backpoint has to be prepared to push to mid to balance the numbers. Going AFK on backpoint in that situation is just as bad as pushing into a bad match up at far point.
I agree home bunker should be proactive and not just active but the person who pushes far should be the one who adapts to the team strategy not the other 4 people who are the majority. But in yoloq its not about teamwork sadly. Unless you get lucky and get teamed up with “team players” who care about the team more then themselves.
(not saying all far pushers are selfish but if your team asks you to go mid and you’d rather go far because you want I think that is pretty selfish)
I already said this, but how would players feel if GH were racial themed, and guild improvements/siege/effects were also racial based, lets say guild A would be norn/kodan themed and its effects, this would also affect WvW, would this had more strategy to guild and wvw gameplay?
Trying to make a system where guilds are not just a “copy pasta” and have different tech.
I like the idea of themed GH. It would be cool if for example your GH is Norn/Kodan themed once you claim a keep/tower/camp it also becomes themed liked the GH (Norn/Kodan) .
go with less armor it will get harder.
Asura…….. Most egotistical race. The biggest thing about them are their egos LOL!
we have been barking up this tree for a while bro. They say its coming but don’t know when. Personally i hope its soon!!!!!!!
Ok, lets face it: the dream of “esports,” though long dead, will never be achieved with the current client and ANet’s sorry excuse for tournament advertising.
If instead we had a client that inherently promoted events, they would all get much much more exposure and the scene would actually grow.
Edit: to clarify, this is what I think character select should look like.
Nobody gives a crap about the medals and achievements; not even PvE nerds. And please, why not add chat window in character select? Sometimes we want to idle or AFK but still be reachable by our gw2 buddies without having to render all the engis spamming nades in our face while we’re trying to watch netflix.
Sooo…. this is what you want?
i’d be happy with something like this. Did you edit this pic or can you change things in options?
I’m a intern developer for GW4 team.
X.X walked into that one i guess lol
With the addition of guild halls the upgrade categories imo should stay more or less the same. The changes I would make would be adding a new category and reorganizing some unlocks in the existing categories.
[Example]
Politics
Same as now with the inclusion of all banners
(I’ve changed all banners to politics because I feel banners are ways to advertise your guilds regardless of the buff.)
Art of War
Same as now
+ Allow creation of asura gate at fort claimed by guild
Economy
Same as now (move banners to politics)
Architecture
Same as now (move banners to politics)
+ Create asura gate in claimed fort ( build time 3hr )
+ Create test golems in Training Grounds (This can be upgraded to eventually have practice NPC’s like in HotM)
+Create asura gate to each major city in Courtyard (basically an asura gate hub like in lions arch where you can get to any major city from your guild hall)
+Create Work Stations in Workshop (the fear of people not going to main cities to use the stations I feel are not warranted. People will go to city hubs to interact with others; in GW1 i used city hubs more then my guild hall to buy/sell things because the cities were always buzzing with people talking and people debating this or that.)(Now when it comes to banks then yes ill agree they should only be in major cities and guild banks should be in guild halls)
(I’ve added asura gates because halls imo should be launching points where all guildies can join up and jump together to each event.)
Guild Hall
Note: Guild halls will have five different zones that can be unlocked
Unlock Hall
Unlock Courtyard
Unlock Training Grounds
Unlock War Room
Unlock Workshop
For each zone that you unlock more upgrades become available in the Architecture category.
These are just a few ideas. Everyone feel free to play around with this idea add/remove things. I left a few categories the same mainly because I don’t know what would be good add ons to them but again if anyone has any ideas feel free.
I didn’t add anything about alliances because since they are not part of the game their is no reasons to include them in the GH idea but I do have some nice ideas if they ever come into fruition.
Note Adding asura gates to claimed keeps/towers/camps would give incentive to defending imo because once a guild invests influence to creating an asura gate in the claimed area they would want to defend their assets. Guilds would want to create asura gates in their claimed forts because it will be a faster way to get to their fort in mass to defend.

I’d love ingame information somewhere about when a big tourny starts.
I missed a lot of Tournaments already because i never knew when they started.I don’t want to search for stream days and times every day.
I want it served to me on a plate with a beer.
The problem with far imo is everyone thinks they can just go far and dominate. In real games your get ganked or held so long that mid gets capped by the enemy. Better to have that person focus their effort in the team fight and be able to cap mid/home rather then home/far because most often then not mid falls when its a 3v4 enemy favored. Yes Yes you are all super good and can take on 3v1 easily but if your so good why not help take mid? If your soooooo good you’ll be able to take mid out very quick then go far. Far is only good if the team abandons mid and go 3 far 2 home.
Today……………Today their will be blood! #WeeklyCup
To new beginnings. Cheers.
Sweet. I work on the weekends so missed the tournament but don’t work on Thursday so will be able to watch the cup matches.
Personally I skip past character select pretty quickly. If there was more information there, that could change. It’s a similar problem with the launcher, which does have information like this already.
Personally I use the launcher a lot to get news for the game. I think adding PvP News in character screen would be a nice idea. Maybe add tournament rankings (during tournaments) etc…
I like this idea would be cool to see more armor specifically themed for the pvp arena. For every rank rabbit/wolf/dragon etc… a new track opens. Rabbit rank can be something like the gladiator armor from GW1 http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Warrior_Gladiator_armor and Dragon can be like http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Warrior_Platemail_armor.
About Gear: I think the easiest way to get Dire gear would be to buy it from the Trading Post. You should be able to get enough money from normal game-play to afford it pretty fast (especially if you run some dungeons every day).
Otherwise, you could craft it, but if you want full exotic gear you’d have to be Leatherworker, Weaponsmith and Huntsman in order to craft your armour and your pistol and dagger. Crafting exotic armour also takes a fair amount of Tier 6 materials (and ectos), but this shouldn’t be too much of a problem if you run around Orr/WvW and participate in world boss events.
As for what you do when you’re level 80:
-Explore Orr
-Take part in more dungeons (especially considering most PUGs only accept level 80s too)
-Run Fractals (once again, most PUGs ask for 80, but 80 is a must for fractals above level 10).
-World completion (personally I love exploring, but its not to everybody’s tastes)
-Consider crafting ascended gear or a legendary weapon
-Work towards a particular aesthetic that you want for your character e.g. work towards dungeon armour/weapons, cultural armour, gathering materials for unique mystic forge exotics, farm gold for something off of TP
-Hunt Achievements and complete them
-Play through Personal Story and Living StoryI’ll add more if I think of any!
Hi Gulesave,
There has been a ton of discussion and brainstorming on Guild Hall Content in the thread. Maybe once Jon gets some time he an summarize some of it.
Chris
Chris,
For example, how can the hall serve as a superior launching pad for jumping en mass into PvE or WvW content? How can the space itself benefit PvP’ers in practicing and testing builds, or organizing and running tournaments? How can it be laid out to enable roleplaying? What incentive is there to visiting other guilds’ halls other than gawking? How are a guilds’ accomplishments demonstrated in the hall, and how can that be interacted with? How can guild members interact with each other in ways they can’t do elsewhere? How might the spaces and objects and rules specific to the guild hall improve the overall experience of being in a guild?
Yep those are some good questions. Thoughts folks?
Chris
For example, how can the hall serve as a superior launching pad for jumping en mass into PvE or WvW content?
-Special Asuran gates/teleporter pads, that will teleport an entire squad (30-40 people) into a brand new copy of whatever PvE map they choose. It’s not guild locked but it does guarentree they all get into the location just before an event or such.
(Cooldown would be needed to avoid the obvious exploit of constantly opening new Orr maps for the resources.)
-WvW realtime map that gives a visual representation of whats happening currently (I think I saw a suggestion earlier with something similar in a war room?)How can the space itself benefit PvP’ers in practicing and testing builds, or organizing and running tournaments?
-Testing Dummies for each armor class, Aoe, with a condition applied etc.
-A Duel arena with an option to set PvE or PvP versions of skills.
-A waiting area for entering a custom arenaHow can it be laid out to enable roleplaying?
-By existing and being at least partially customisable it will
-Intractable furniture would be a massive plus (sitting on seats, bonus the poor people in the priory classroom finally learn how to sit). What incentive is there to visiting other guilds’ halls other than gawking?
-Doesn’t need an intensive, people like to check out the competition to see are they winning or loosing.
-Daily Gawker Achievement. How are a guilds’ accomplishments demonstrated in the hall, and how can that be interacted with?
-Already discussed this at length, rare display items, leaderboards for various things. Mannequins to show off alternate sets, Ultra hard challenges that reward unique guild items. How can guild members interact with each other in ways they can’t do elsewhere?
-It’s nothing major they can just relax, talk without random chat/emote spam making it difficult to follow a convo
-Easier to take group photos, and select scenery to do so.
I agree with some of your points. I’d like to add
What incentive is there to visiting other guilds’ halls other than gawking?
-Doesn’t need an intensive, people like to check out the competition to see are they winning or loosing.
-Daily Gawker Achievement.
Guilds imo will always visit others guild halls for social reasons. Alliance guilds might host alliance meetings in rotation for example.
Trying to envision how an alliance section for a guild halls could be created without being affected to heavily by guild leaving the alliance is a tall task here is an idea that I’ve been playing around with maybe someone can expand on it or see if it is should go in the trash bin.
Guilds can create through the upgrade system an alliance “chamber” in their own guild hall where each alliance once they unlock the chamber can upgrade the look of their sections of the chamber. Im going to write out a scenario so I can better explain myself.
If a guild is not in an alliance they can still upgrade their guild hall to have an “alliance chamber”. Guild A creates “alliance chamber” (they are not in an alliance yet) in this alliance chamber it has 5 slots (for the sake of the example) the one in the middle has a huge banner of the guild emblem maybe a lions statue all very big in the center with maybe a few more decorations (all customizable by the guild). Later guild A joins an alliance with guild B and C. In guilds A alliance chamber in the 5 slots guild B alliance chamber design is placed in slot 2 and guild C design is placed in slot 4. End result would look like this. 5 slots in the alliance chamber counting from left to right slot 1 is empty slot 2 guilds B design of their own alliance chamber is displayed slot 3 is guild A design slot 4 is guild C design and slot 5 is empty.
This way if a guild leaves the alliance the only things that change are the designs of that guilds alliance chamber but once they invite another guild then the new guilds design will be displayed.

As long as i get my speedo I’m good. Ladies watch out!
LOL!
…instanced maps that are linked to WvW. …
Cutting your text for space, not because it’s a bad read.
My issue with this would be queues. If the only way to “walk up to” the GH entrance is via WvW, then either pure PvE’rs end up getting only a UI button click for entry, or everyone in the world tries to enter WvW just to get to the hall and suddenly the maps are clogged.
So it could be interesting for the WvW land claimers to have a bonus GH entry, with extendable permissions, but the same functionality needs to be available to those who don’t step into the borderlands.
EotM having guild asura portal could help with the queues. Since EotM is multi-server WvW when you conquer a keep the asura portal teleports you to your own guild hall (if your server is in blue/red/green that has fort captured). In WvW the portal takes you to the guild who claimed the keep/tower/camp (this might even help WvW with prioritizing defending if they add a bit more customization to keeps/towers/camps) (Maybe an alert message can be sent to the guild hall of the guild claiming a tower for example so they know and can rally and send guildies to WvW but message is only seen if your inside the guild hall and their is an option to turn it off/on) . In GW1 when you were in PvE the only way to get to your guild was through the UI and it wasn’t much of an issue but I understand what you mean about “walking up” to the guild hall. Maybe a way to “walk up” to the guild hall would be if their was a portal in HotM or the asura portal hubs around Tyria.

I think Spvp will benefit if it has a mode where 5 new players can match up against 5 AI’s. That way they can learn the game without getting stomp by veteran players. This will improve their experience in Spvp. I’m surprise the NPE did not include this new feature.
I completely agree! My build testing process is always Bots in HotM → Hot Join → yoloq but with having a X vs AI system people can practice builds in a more controlled environment and new players can learn PvP a bit better then in bots in HotM and hot join which tend to be full of trolls sometimes.
+1 to the OP and very true why hasn’t this been added?
A friend and I both have some characters that were progressing in the personal story at about the same rate, and it ended up that we played Arah story mode on those characters together and thought it would be fun if we did the post-Arah Living Stories together on those characters as well. What we discovered was that even though a certain and specific Living Story was the “active story” for both of us, and we played it together, it only gave one of us credit. We’d need to then exit the story and run it through a second time with the other person triggering entry into the instance.
Is that normal “by design” behavior or is something not working right? It seems odd to me that we both wouldn’t receive credit when that particular episode truly is the active and current story for both of us. On the same note for the game to discourage teaming by making us run the same episode twice back to back is odd.
This actually happened to me and was curious about it. Didn’t know if it happened to anyone else or if that was normal so i stayed quite but since it has come up just want to comment.
This CDI has been a great read! Almost all aspects of Guild Halls has been discussed. What I’d like to focus on is how Guild Halls interacts with the open world. When I was reading through the discussion I read about the benefits of Guild Halls being instanced or open world. I feel that you can have both if its done in a way where you are able to show off your guild but not add clutter to the maps. How I envision guilds in GW2 is instanced maps that are linked to WvW.
For example in PvE maps you can jump right into your guilds hall basically the same way as in GW1. In WvW add an asura portal to castle/tower/camp that teleport you to the guild who claimed the points guild hall. This function can have permissions so if guilds don’t want random people in their guild halls they just turn that function on. In my opinion this is the best way to have a place to meet up before guild missions in PvE and you are able to show off in the open world. In PvE Zones we can already promote your guilds through banners.
So I don’t see the reason to clutter the story and vibe of the game with guild halls in the PvE maps. And by having the guild halls linked to WvW it is a way for guilds to claim land to show off. And small guild when they want to show off they can just invite their friends to the guild. Also Jon Peters you had some funny responses I lol’ed reading through the thread. Chris hope everything goes well.
Basically it all comes down to being understood. If you speak spanish for example and are in the english server and everyone talks in english expect to be ignored or people not understanding you but thats about as far as it goes for me. I don’t think people should rage or anything just ignore it or block it. By blocking that person I don’t take it as an attack or anything its just the person doing the blocking doesn’t want to “listen” to you if your not speaking a language they understand.
This is an interesting post. Personally I don’t mind if the person speaks any other language when they are in the english servers. I’ve ran a few dungeons with Asian players and they were really cool people (a bit hard to coordinate attacks but we got past the hard parts because they attempted to type in english and I was trying to be understanding of the fact that they would have broken english but we still lol’d and had good conversations). The thing with using your native language on the english serves is communication is a lot harder when people don’t understand the language. If the player prefers any other language that fine by me. I don’t block people for speaking spanish (I’m cuban) or any other language I just let them know that I can’t understand them :P .
But to the OP point I have seen some people be A**H**** to people because they type in another language.
While I still think there is some work to be done balancing skills (does it ever stop?)
Lol very true! Balance dev team have a hell of a job!
Hello everyone just want to have a little discussion on when is it a good idea to cap far! Personally i am of the mindset that when you start the game 1 bunker home 1 bunker mid and the other 3 players help cap mid. After mid is capped harass far but prioritize holding mid and home. I have been reading about people who like to go far at the beginning of a match to be fair I want to see if we can discuss when and under what circumstances is it a good idea to cap far.
For me going far is only a good idea when mid is lost for example in the beginning of a match if mid is going to be lost 2 high mobility dps players rush far to be able to take out the enemy bunker stationed there. That way mid is lost but you still control the fight basically making something out of nothing. Also this tactic might pull some players off mid and your bunker and other dps might have a chance to cap. This is just a quick “what if” scenario where I see going far can actually be affective.
Oh I dream of the day I can explore Cantha with the GW2 maps and gameplay. Wow what a sight to be seen. If expansion is in the making idk but a guy can dream. (LS helps though with the new areas being unlocked I can’t wait to see the day where all of Tyrias map can be explored)(Tyrian for life!)(Cantha will be my vacation continent but Tyria will always be my home!)(LA ALL DAY!)
+1
If I can put my 2cent in this topic one thing that has spoiled me is the pace of the combat. GW2 combat almost feels like a console game on how quick it feels. Their are both channeled skills that lock you in place and others that allow you to move but I think they are nicely balanced. For example Warrior dual axe skill 5 is soooo deadly it does huge damage to multiple people and can move BUT it is slow in moving and easily interrupted. Having said that; it all comes down to how you set the skill up so balanced imo.
i liked the part when the 20 people worse then sizer flamed and put him down for not being toxic. this is an example of the gw2 problem.. he is better then you for a fact.. he plays at the very top end of the game.
the reason people think the game isnt balanced is because they dont bother to learn the game and how to counter people. if they die they whine and claim the other guy is op.. there are tons of threads like that already.
its almost embarrasing that sizer comes on here being positive and this is the gw2 community response.
I push far all the time. I do it even more when people all caps at me to stop going far. Sometimes I say I got home and then change my mind and run straight to far. Deal with it. Running to far at the start of the game is a great tactic. Sometimes I run in circles around the far point while the enemy team chases me. I’m winning and I know it. #HatersGonnaHate
Thats not being a very good team player bro. You leave home uncapped when you say your going to cap? You might as well just afk all match. You most likely don’t cap far your team lose mid and home well it was never capped so even if the other team runs same tactic (go far) then they will cap far with no resistance. #notwinning

The event chain is still farmable, it’s not like the champs were removed.
