All professions maxed to 80.
Spend about 1 hour in every low level area.
Still 500 tomes of knowledge in the bank.Considering: Creat character> Enter Mists> Enter LA> Grab tomes.
Now it’s no longer: Create character > Run to divinity> Get black lion key> Delete character.I approve.
Black lion key farming what a huge exploit lol I wonder how many people will try and justify this by saying “hey its in the game we should all play the game the way we want”
LOL no comment.
Very well. I accept your admission of defeat.
Admission of defeat. You made it very clear what your intentions are. Kid idc about your ego.
LOL man people read things the way they want :P everyone who reads the poll can make their own conclusions I don’t need someone to explain what the polls mean to me. LOL some people shakes head
Uh, no. The poll is rather clear.
“The new changes to leveling would be okay with some adjustment” means that the changes as they currently are, are -not- okay.
“I absolutely hate the new changes to leveling. " Means people straight up despise the changes.
“I don’t like the new changes to leveling” means dissatisfaction with the changes.
And the last two are rather obvious as well. People like the changes, and people feel the changes don’t affect them because for one reason or another, they are unaffected.
You’re just in denial at this point.
LOL no comment. I keep repeating myself over and over again just because some people like to write more then they like to read…….

Proposal Overview
<A short description of the proposal that is being put forward>Goal of Proposal
Addition of Guild Halls
Proposal Functionality
Instanced zone with guild hall functionality similar to Guild Wars 1
Potential Personal Housing options with individual rooms (instanced or otherwise) for individual players
Associated Risks
I can’t really think of any… people really want this. Myself included. I just wanted to throw in my support for this!
Guild halls will be another phase of the guild CDI this one is currently focused on Logistics and QoL ( I can understand why you might think guild halls fall under QoL) Hope this helps.
LOL man people read things the way they want :P everyone who reads the poll can make their own conclusions I don’t need someone to explain what the polls mean to me. LOL some people shakes head
He should’ve worded it better then. It’s silly to assume that someone would think that ABSOLUTELY every single person in the game hated the patch anyway.
If you look at the forums some people where trying to say just that. (ABSOLUTELY)
Hyperbolic vs categorical
All you have to do is look at the forums for proof of what I am saying. Look back when patch release to get an even better idea.

ok so people better understand what I feel the OP was trying to detail
1) ok but needs changes (I like the new system but few things can be changed i.e skill locks)
2) I like system as is.
3) I don’t care
4) Don’t like changes
5) Hate it rage quit
Whole point of poll imo was so people stop trying to say that EVERYONE thinks the “sky is falling”
More thoughts on alliances
Primary guild/service guild
-Primary guild is your WvW guild or server guild.
-Service guilds (farming/friends/dungeons) are guilds that you can still be a part of but don’t need to be in the same server to do content.
My reasons for wanting an alliance system to be implemented are for better organization and communication between guilds in WvW and bigger social networks in service guilds. An example of better networking in service guilds (not personal bank guilds) would be when I am running with my farming guild and only 5 of our members are representing at that time it would be hard to start a farm train for example because the guildies not representing can’t see our chat but if their was an alliance system in place the farming guild would be allied with other farming guilds and maybe they have 10/20 of their guildies currently representing so we can communicate and have 15 players in total who can maybe start that farming train. WvW guild I think would benefit the most from an alliance system because they would be able to ally with other guilds in their same server through a in game source (not forums/ts etc..) and better organize tactics for that WvW season.
When people say they hate it to me at least it feels like they want the old system back but I like the new rate of leveling in the current system the new reward system the way PS is tied in better with the leveling process. The wording in the poll is fine with me. The only thing I don’t like is the skill locks but that is just one portion of the overall leveling experience.
Maybe the OP should reword his poll, how many people like things things getting level locked.
The OP was the one that dont’ like the trait lock, now he likes utility getting locked? I’m confused.
The wording is fine. It’s specific without being overly complicated.

I think the point of the poll was to quell the mass hysteria that has been fueled by a few people when in reality the problem is not as “game-breaking”. Sure some people don’t like somethings but its not the end of the world like some very vocal posters have led to believe.
Dont go whiteknighting and dismiss other peoples constructive critisism. Speak for yourself.
What are you talking about? How am I white knighting FYI I voted (could be ok with some adjustments) so what are you talking about dismiss constructive criticism?

121 votes total and the picture is starting to become a bit more clear.
After thinking a bit more about your problem Milady I’d like to give you my full warrior layout to help you out a bit to understanding what would be an affective build. This topic would be better put in the PvP section of the forums but ill post it here in your topic to help you personally.
Dual axe/Sword & Shield
Rune of the eagle and Barbarian (more longevity) or Berserker (more dps) Amulet

I agree with many people here who feel that a player should learn the game and what are the best builds but when in a party with random people the experience for everyone can be better if the “vets” instead of rage quitting or insulting help the newer or ignorant players. If you don’t want to deal with having to help others your options are to run the dungeons etc.. with guildies or friends. Honestly if this is a problem where a lot of random groups don’t run very good builds and is a common occurrence then it show how much the NPE is really needed.
Its funny people complained about not being able to die in start of the game LOL and that was from before the patch :P people complain about leveling was too slow and turns out its was FASTER! Lol some people watch a youtube video and take all their information from that instead of actually playing the game and testing the features themselves. Not saying everyone does but when you read through the forums you can definitely tell who has a valid complaint and who is just grieving.
P.S To stay on topic I think most features of the patch where good add-ons but at the same time my only complaint is how far they took the skill locking. Imo by the 1st dungeon you should have all your skills unlocked.
Some random toughts on alliances:
First: Why do we want an alliance?
For me the reason would be to have a wider group of people, who can help out each other with forming groups for fractals, dungeons, guild activites probably. So basicaly it’s a friendship between 2 or 3 (or possibly more) guilds. Each can keep its own identity, but together they have the numbers for different kinds of activites (maybe raids in the future). That’s an alliance I can imagine.
I would definately differntiate this from “task/goal-oriented guilds” – at least that’s what I call them. You know very big guilds with non-dominant social life, created only for a single purpose like kill three-headed-wurm, WvW guild for the server, Dry Top farmers or whatever you can imagine.
The biggest question I have with alliances is that how global or individual should it be?
- the alliance is a rigid, global thing, each member is inside the exact same alliance
- alliances are guild-based choices, each guild can form its own group of alliance
- alliancer are presonal choices, each player can be in the alliance they want toI would rule out the third, individual option immediately, because that’s not a real alliance, that’s just creating a platform for having all the guilds you are in connected somehow. It’s basicaly a friend list and doesn’t add anything to the social life that a good alliance should fulfill.
Separate alliances for each guild seem better at first sight, because it offers freedom for every guild to surround itself allies it wants to, plus it would create a web of connections, but it might raise some problems in action. For example “alliance chat” is out of question that way, because I would see different members there than one of my allied guild member is seeing, because his guild might have a different set of allies. But if there isn’t any alliance chat, than what practical things would it offer. Why would it be better than unofficial alliances that we can already have today, like “I ask XY guild, they are kind, they might help us out.” I have some ideas, like you could invite your allies to your guild hall (for a dinner party :P) but that will be another topic I guess.
On the other hand if alliances are rigid and not guild-based that would raise the question that who would decide about inviting a new guild to the alliance. Imagine two guilds that are already partners but one would like to add a third one. It shouldn’t be a problem between partners and I’m sure most of the guilds can sort it out, but technically we would rely on being fair and considerate with other, which is a human issue afterall. Relationships usually have bumps so we should think about how would kicking a guild out of an alliance work, or should we have that option in the first place.
So all in all the biggest question for me, before we would go into details about alliances, that would they be non-overlaping social cricles (even with their own name) or do we want different alliances for each guild, but then we should deal with the issues that it raises.
I know I’m not offering many answers here , but I really consider this a core point of alliances and I can come up with many pros and cons for both types.
Actually I think you bring up very good points. Imo each guild should have its own alliance but when your representing a certain guild you only see the alliance chat of that specific guild. Again I think these are very good points you bring up and should be answered or at least considered.
And here I was thinking that my 4/4/0/6/0 shout build is something unusual. :P
:D mine is more banner focused! 4/4/0/6/0 FTW!!
Milady a nice build for the warrior in PvP is the axe warrior try dual axes and sword/shield combo. Stats try 4/4/0/6/0 (4 in power/precision and 6 in vitality). Not very tanky but good in dps and the shield can help you in defense but ill let you figure out the trait skills and utility skills on your own
there are many build on forums you can even try the PvP forums page here and see if anyone can help you out there! GL HF!
Hello Guild Wars 2 community. How have you been? Fine i hope
well im new in the game, and im really really kittened off because i dont know what class should i pick… well, neither I do, neither you of course :p i will explain all to you my point of view about mmorpgs and playstyle wich i think will help you out too. Im an old player from Lineage 2, since Interlude i supose. All my life i played as an “Assassin, Rogue” class, but in GW2, the third person view for Thiefs its kinda hard for me to get used to. I like characters that gives a ton of damage, i dont like to be supporting. I like to play alone, i like colorfull and dynamic animations. Between PVE and PVP i would say im a PVP player!! Yes i love to be in the top of the Killers Top List, or trying to :P i love pvp with a party, but i would like to pvp alone too. Well thanks for the replys and sorry about my bad english
Ranger just got a nice boost in this patch its a safe bet for DPS and works very good in solo or team fights.
I don’t think the sticky on CDI on top of this forum page is meant for feedback I think its meant to be a database of sorts for all past CDI and to show the best way to post your suggestions.
But there is a CDI active atm where feedback is welcomed.
Hey one persons ugly is another persons beautiful
toon is how I’ve always described my “characters” or “alts” I don’t know why its even an issue really. Not saying I only call them toons Ive been know to us the word character too lol (laughing out loud)
Idk what ranks he is looking at but I don’t see anything in the GW2 leaderboards….. I guess I’m the #1 MM in NA because I say I am! YAY!!
Oh good maybe you will finally be bold enough to kill trahearne off.
NO!!! NOT Trahearne!! He is my favorite story character!
More on topic :P welcome Leah hope you have as much fun in the world of Tyria as we do!
I’m not sure if someone has already proposed this QoL or something similar. I would appreciate it if such a case is.
Proposal Overview
A build template system, allowing for players to switch up their builds on the fly without having to manually do so every time.Goal of Proposal
With this QoL suggestion, this will drastically cut time on players changing their build to several occasions; such as dungeons, World Bosses, WvW, etc.Proposal Functionality
How the idea works is that under the equipment tab of the Hero Panel, there are multiple slots (around 2 or 3) to have both separate armor, jewels, and traits. To keep this simple: We have our current set-up. Upon clocking this empty slot or tab, we can now insert another set (or same) of armor and traits, if we so choose. With the slot being completed to the desire of the player, once they are out of combat, they can open up the equipment tab and select said template they wish to choose, along with the associated traits they put in with the template.
And at any time, as long as they are out of combat, they can chose to clear any of the templates or edit them, if they so desire; from the armor, jewels, and traits.
To add a situation, if it were to ever occur: If a player decides he wants to use his/her legendary, but with a different stat combination for each set, when they change between builds, their legendary’s stats will change accordingly.
Edit: A detail I did forget to add in. Upon setting another set of armor into the one of the template slots, said armor and jewels will no longer appear in your inventory slot, thus also eliminating the clutter of having the items take up inventory space.
Associated Risks
As far as I can see, I don’t see any real risk to having this feature around. I feel it would be an overall improvement to the game.
Edit: Well, I do see only one and that is if a player wants to change their weapon…still thinking about that. Any additional input would be appreciated.Edit: Well, seems someone has already beaten me to it. Haha.
QoL is actually guild QoL not general QoL
Hope this helps.
You have to remember a portion of the people who like to yell/rage/insult is because they are over compensating in the game because their IRL situation is not very good so instead of turning it around and trying to be positive they just continue the cycle of negativity. My advice (if you want it) is not let that affect you, their are many people who like to be friendly and positive and to be honest GW2 overall is a very nice community I’ve met more nice people in Tyria then mean people. A few bad apples with “internet courage” is not something you should let affect you.
P.S not everyone that complains is this just a portion. If you take my comment personally then you might be who I am talking about :/
There are definitely bugs and some external miscommunication with the system and I want to listen some more before discussing.
ChrisThis is interesting.
Chris is saying there has been external miscommunication about the new system. Could it be that you guys realize you went too far with the removing of functions and level gating it too extreme, and it was not supposed to dumb down the game quite this much?
Hi Traveller,
No not really. I m referring to some videos etc that aren’t quite factually correct in all areas and thus there are some misconceptions being propagated by those that have not played the through NPE yet.
Chris
You mean the Magic Mike video? I played through the NPE and I found it to be pretty accurate from the point of view of a person playing on an alt.
Well it was at least incorrect in that he claimed the new patch was responsible for not being able to die in the tutorial instance, when that was true at least a year ago, when I discovered it. So not the new patch.
He did show that the compass in the charr area was broken. However, it isn’t broken in Queensdale. It worked perfectly.
So he found a bug and demonstrated it. Whee.
So you found ONE inaccuracy. Whee.
There are probably more..however the entire video is actually using humor to make fun of something most of which is a single bug that doesn’t affect Queensdale at all. It’s been used to assault a patch that is much larger than that one issue.
It muddies the whole patch situation. It’s not helpful. The whole bias is obvious from moment one. The video made the guy money, which I guess was his intention, but it was unfair, and didn’t help the game in any way shape or form.
That stuff will be fixed. The video won’t be forgotten.
Right, because Queensdale is the only starting zone in the game…
Actually the video covers more than just the compass. So yes, it does acknowledge that “the patch is much larger than this one issue.” If you’d actually watched the video, you’d know that.
And you can get rich off YouTube videos? I didn’t know that.
Actually people have made careers off of using youtube……
So rather than showing every guildchat at once, the active tab selects which one? If there’s a highlight on the tab showing when new lines have arrived for each one that could work.
Exactly.
+ this is very clever:
‘If there’s a highlight on the tab showing when new lines have arrived for each one that could work’
Chris
I like this idea reminds me a bit of the old chat system of GW1.
Can I ask a question to the community? How does everyone feel of the importance of the Guild name being over your toon? Example if your “home” guild is always displayed but you can jump to your other guilds but only to join the chat. How do people feel about that as an incentive for guild unity/pride?
With an alliance system incorporated with a new guild chat system would be the best solution in my opinion. My main guild which is a PvX but heavy in WvW guild would be the guild I always represent (guild name always active) with this guild and an alliance system then I would be able to communicate with them and also with other guilds in our server who are interested in WvW etc. My secondary guild which is my farming guild I will have the option to jump to their chat while still representing my main guild and be able to set up farming runs. Lastly my last guild which honestly I’m not sure if they are in my same server I can join their chat just to hang out and talk with them because they are cool people but still be representing my main guild. The option to join my 3rd guild in WvW is still there but I will be running with them as a friend of the guild rather then actually guildy.
One of the key things for me is if the guild name appears over my toon. Why can’t my main guild always be displayed but my other guild have an option to join in chat but not display the guild tag.
I thought this topic was going to be focused on helping can you guys PLEASE delete the post that have NOTHING to do with Logistics and QoL…. Can people please Q.Q in other topics so this one can be focused on improving the game!
P.S feel free to delete this one too but I don’t want this to turn into >:’O
@JonPeters
Would adding a new representation feature be a good option to adding a bit more attachment to one guild while still keeping with the current value of multiple guilds?
-Represent- -new option- -leave-
Represent works basically how it works now but it can only be done for one guild at a time and will show the guild name over your toon. New option will allow you to join the guild chat of the other guilds you run with but won’t change the tag over you toon. This way you still have a sense of loyalty to your main guild while still being able to join another group of friends for other interest, maybe changing the color displayed in the roster for non represented members could also help in organization. Alliances if created can only be seen in your represented guild while the alliances for all the other guilds could not be seen.
A problem I see with this would be people seeing this as a glorified friends list or people doing what they are doing now and reping the guild they are currently in a chat with or running with because they all want to have the same guild name so basically would have the same problems as now.
P.S If anyone else has something to add please feel free this is just a quick thought.

Colin Johanson himself pays me 30$ per day to make positive posts about GWII and ArenaNet.
This post has been approved by ArenaNet, we wish you guys the best of luck while playing our fantastic game.
Also, check out the new items in the gem store!
Dang $30!! Bro he has been duping me! He has been paying me in grocery store coupons and tic-tacs!
Oh man you would think a community of video gamers would want to be accepting of others and want new people to game with; so many people here have a god complex or feel they are “better” then others. kitten i wonder what real life problems their overcompensating for by doing these types of things. While I do agree it should be an option or only with your very first toon I think people are forgetting this is a MMO the more people the better……
Anet dropped the ball when they decided “new players” = 8 year olds who never picked up a game before.
You want to teach players about this game anet? how bout actually telling players stuff that you would have to look up on the internet? think like how combo fields and finishers work? how traps in WvW are used? How conditions and boons affect gameplay ? Theres multiple things you could have taught new players, instead we get this braindead tutorial that a new born could do. I love anet’s metrics. This is what the metrics showed players didn’t know how to do? good god
When I was that age I was playing Commodore 64 and then DOS games all on my own. The audacity of this update though… and you brought up WvW: just imagine them putting this kind of tutorial in WvW. I don’t know whether to laugh, cry, or bang my head against the wall just thinking about it.
What about the 30 year old who has never played any games. That is a different experience for them I know if i gave my father who works in the medical field my keyboard and told him to kill a skritt he’d have a hard time knowing how to do it. New players don’t have to be 5 year olds they can be adults who have never gamed before….
Your father can’t ask you “Okay how do I move around?” He can’t move the mouse to options and see the keybindings? He can’t look at the bottom of the screen and see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and try pressing those?
Come on. Stop making excuses. I’m sure your doctor or nurse father can figure this stuff out.
At any rate, why would ANet even WANT to bring people that couldn’t figure this out into the game? If they can’t figure how to press 1 on their keyboard then how the hell did they pass the login screen?
Why does A-Net want to bring those people into the game…..WOW…… ok let me see if you understand this if I rephrase. Many people who read this thread have probably played xbox or playstation now remember when you gave your father or mother or grandfather… whatever …the control and told them to play and they where very confused? I am sure EVERYONE has had this experience. Now imagine in an MMO which is a lot more complex then FIFA or NBA2k or any other console game that are easy in comparison.

I just buy the runes flat out from the TP (if crafting isn’t your thing). Superior runes can get pricy but they tend to be a one time buy for me so its ok.
You can’t buy the runes he’s looking for. They are account bound.
You have to buy the recipe for the runes off the TP and make them yourself, I don’t know how much the trapper runes cost, but when I made a full set of 6 superior runes of evasion, it cost me about 12 gold, not including the recipe cost, which was another 8 at the time. Prices on the recipe have come down since then, but the materials haven’t. A lot of it depends on which lodestone you need to craft them.
Oh thanks for clearing that up I don’t look too much at runes when I already have my builds set up! :P Maybe I should read the patch notes a bit better.
Anet wouldn’t touch me with a 20 foot pole. I’m far too contraversial. Not to mention the fact that people ignore the negative stuff I’ve said, and just focus on the positive. But I have said negative stuff. I don’t like the way the new trait system was handled, for example.
No one here is being paid for being a fan, any more than a fan of a sports team that defends their team is being paid. Because you don’t have to pay people to be fans of something.
I really enjoy my time in Tyria. I have fun here. I have a great guild. Of course I’m going to defend it.
Why should anyone have to pay me for that.
I agree!! Well said!
(Also, was your check late this month? I still haven’t got mine. I tried to email Chris, but no reponse yet… :P)
LOL! If only being a fan also got you paid, that would be the life! Real Madrid C.F here I come!!!!
Amen brother.
I just buy the runes flat out from the TP (if crafting isn’t your thing). Superior runes can get pricy but they tend to be a one time buy for me so its ok.
I agree. Before it was 25min when you won now it is 15 with no exploit lol we farmers got lucky! Coil-Wurm-Quag-Drake-Troll-Trio FTW!
This accusation gets tossed around a lot – that certain people who post such high praise for Anet’s decisions might be rewarded in some way. I haven’t reached a decision on this yet, so I thought the best approach is just to come right out and ask.
Will someone at ANet please tell the rest of us if you reward certain people for their forum comments? If you could just issue a flat out denial then that might diminish the number of accusations, especially right now.
LOL by that same logic where are the people getting paid by other companies to bash the game? Can they please raise their hand…… take off the tinfoil helmet.
They already changed the timer. 15min win or lose. That is great for farmers who don’t exploit. (me)
Let’s wait until it’s announced (I doubt it ever will) before leaping into headless sky is falling chicken mode.
Very true.
Yeah i’d be disappointed if a “VIP” feature were to be added here in the west. If they like that kind of stuff in the east thats fine but id rather things stayed the same here in the west.
I agree with 90% of what you said bro but I think the CDI is looking good atm. Few (hiccups) here and there but trolls will be trolls :/
Sadly, I don’t have all that much faith in the forum community to behave anymore. I like to be proved wrong on that score but . . . I think I’m going to start betting on entropy.
Lol thanks for the clean up
but its all good bro the community will be strong!
“Be the change that you wish to see in the world” – Mahatma Gandhi
While I think a great many players also agree, the CDI for guilds was talked about before the patch.
Yeah, but I didn’t care about it then either. CDIs are great, but there is nothing they could do involving guilds that would make the game any better, and the only thing they could do is make things worse (by adding new features that you need to be part of a large guild to benefit from), so I’ve never cared about a guild-based CDI. Before this week, I would have wanted a CDI on the destructive changes to the Traits system introduced in the last feature patch.
This new patch is a major issue though, and they need to have a major sit-down explaining why we shouldn’t hate the things we believe we hate about it. Why should we like the new level-gating system? Why should anyone? Why should we appreciate having to go several layers deep to see what we just sold rather than having it as a top-level option? These are all far more important topics of discussion than anything involving guilds.
To you maybe but the world doesn’t revolve around either you or I. I promised the CDI and we are doing it. There is plenty of awesome stuff that can come from it so it is a pleasure to be able to read what members of the CDI have to say.
if you don’t see the value in it then don’t partake.
Cheers
Chris
It’s sort of like planning a family meeting a week in advance to talk about how the kids could help out mom more around the house. You promise your wife it will get better, and set a date and time. Then, when the promised time comes up, the house catches on fire. Rather than addressing the fire, you stubbornly sit your family down in the burning living room to make good on your promise.
That is the degree of sense you are making. It is such a magnitudinous sign relating to the disconnect between what is going on, and what ANET wants to do.
No. It is nothing like that at all.
Chris
When your customer tells you, flat out, how we as a community currently feel, and you dismiss them, then go further to say ,“your wrong” and leave no input or explanation other then your arrogance and possible pride.
Or it could be a poor analogy which tends to the hyperbolic and doesn’t deserve anything further than “no, you’re mistaken”. You know, like it is.
Did you miss how he (twice) blatantly asked if people wanted to go forward with this or not? And he was told “no, let’s go on”. Not, I’ll note, by me – I told him it might be best to shelve the CDI idea since it was probably just going to turn into a lightning rod for discontent.
Which it has.
Then the definitive thing we as a community know about you is that your in Denial.
Actually, the definitive thing we know about Mr. Whiteside is he’s fairly honest and simple. He doesn’t talk about things he doesn’t know about, he goes to find people who do know about it to ask and if they give him something to report back, he does. That’s why people really liked the CDIs last round – he was motivated to make them work.
And we won’t have the patience for you to go through all 5 steps. So fix things by being one of the first companies to actually take the next step in business and truly listen to your community.
Right now its screaming from bugs/glitches, and hungry and starved for content
So, I’m confused . . . should they be listening to it or simply doing whatever we tell them to in the loudest and angriest voices we can?
I agree with 90% of what you said bro but I think the CDI is looking good atm. Few hick up here and there but trolls will be trolls :/
