Why’s everyone getting shouts? You’re stealing my thunder here, ANet!

Sincerely,

Main Warrior alt Guardian.

Time to level a necro and an ele then :P , I would also suggest ranger, but no one deserves to deal with shouts with cast time …

Err necro shouts have 2-3 SECOND cast times… so rangers are practically instant.

But Anet hates necros so not really a surprise.

There will be cries we are op after the livestream I’d bet all my gold on it

Definately..i can already see the NERF TEMPEST threads post friday.

Im personally interested in knowing more about the elite. It seems so bad !25% for 1 abilitiy for an elite????Even if its an aoe.
Unless it can be stacked and like 4 elementalists can fully recharge 1 ability of each or something like that? I think i dont really understand how this skill is supposed to work and what will its purpose be.

Best use I can see is for long boss fights, ele pops it, everyone else pops their elite at the start of a fight and then again part way through.

Things like feel my wrath go from 30s CD to 22s, which increases quickness uptime from 16% to 22%.

Revenant Changes

self-applied conditions will be changed to no longer use your condition duration so they feel less punishing

What about our condition damage? Does it still apply to self-inflicted damaging conditions (torment in this case)?

P.S. Can necro corruptions get this fix?

Unfortunately, right now we only can do this for non-damaging conditions. Ideally we’d allow damaging conditions to use your condition damage still(otherwise damage would be so low it’d be essentially no penalty), but not duration.

Yes, necro corruptions can for the non damaging ones, like Revenant.

NOOOO the whole point of corruptions is that you transfer them off and give them to the enemy. This will completely destroy corruption builds. The extra duration on the transferred conditions improves my dps, and lets me get higher weakness uptime.

Please do not nerf necro even further, we have a hard enough time as it is.

If you want to fix corruptions then change the transfer priority order to be more useful. Necros have no mobility and lots of health so most of us would rather transfer off bleed and weakness before things like cripple and vuln.

yay! Corruptions to be slightly less crappy!

in Necromancer

Posted by: ZudetGambeous.9573

ZudetGambeous.9573

That’s not a fix that’s a HUGE nerf

If they do this I will no longer be able to get 100% weakness uptime by transferring off my self-weakness to an enemy. It will also lower my overall dps from bleed and torment by a full stack!

How do I stop this change from happening?

I remember back when people complained like mad about them releasing stuff in the gem store every other week.

People actually did that? -_- Lame…

Something about the fact that they were adding new weapons and armor to the game every two weeks but hadn’t added a single new reward through ingame means or content for over a year…. I guess people didn’t like having to pay for every single thing ever with no new content ever being added to the game.

Anet eventually agreed, added in the SW armor and diverted resources into making an expansion where you could pay once and earn the new armors/weapons in game.

Necro PvE utility - where you went wrong.

in Necromancer

Posted by: ZudetGambeous.9573

ZudetGambeous.9573

I think the problem with necro in PvE is not the necro but the PvE… If enemies used boons to make them more powerful, a necro would be a strong and unique addition to the party as a debuffer. If they used conditions against you, sending them back would be better than cleansing (the same way reflect beats deflect). Necro has unique utilities, but they are irrelevant to PvE for no reasons. As Brazil said recently: “necro is really good at being good at things that just don’t matter”.

But there is hope. In HoT, Reaper seems to really add DPS and “challenging group content” may be happy to have a razzing/healing necro.

The other problem is that enemies that do apply boons apply them faster than a whole horde of necros could ever strip them off or corrupt them. What good is corrupting kitten row of boons when the enemy will just reapply it 5s later while our skill is on CD for 50s?

I feel like all the negative feedback to the warhorn is unwarranted. We dint know anything about the spec. And unlike any other class to get an offhand, we will be getting skills for every attument , well already be getting more skills then any other class would with a mainhand, Idk. I’m not worried about it.

Really? do you know for a fact that it is not main-hand Warhorn?

I know for a fact that the warhorn is held in the eles left hand in the teaser and that every single main hand and two handed weapon in the game is held in the right hand and every single offhand weapon in the game is held in the left hand.

So yes, I do in fact know that for a fact.

Warhorn was just the worst possible option. Offhand dagger and focus are already really great, so even if warhorn is somehow equally as good as those (doubtful) it will just be an even trade. We will still be left with very poor mainhand weapons that are essentially filler for the offhands. That is why people don’t like warhorn, because they will be forced to use a bad mainhand weapon in order to use this new weapon which was the problem we were specifically trying to avoid.

mainhand dagger = meh melee offense

If this is true, why do I see a lot of Elementalists owning a lot of people with D/D?

Because offhand dagger is awesome.

Those giant fire rings, 8k hits, electric ball of death, KB, KD, bleed, and heal, are all from the dagger offhand.

It’s just if you take the offhand you also need to equip a mainhand weapon. No one in their right mind would equip scepter in PvP, and staff takes up both hands, thus you have a lot of D/D ele’s

The only few skills that main hand ele’s really need are dragons breath (burn stacking) and lightning whip (air auto) for sustain damage while they are waiting for their dagger offhands to recharge.

offhand dagger = best offensive/utility offhand in the game
offhand focus = best defensive/utility offhand in the game

mainhand dagger = meh melee offense
mainhand scepter = slow and clumsy offense
staff = best weapon by far

Ele’s have 2 amazing offhands with pretty poorly designed main hands. People are disappointed in warhorn because it is a substitute for something we don’t need substituted. This will just drive more people to staff, and certainly won’t make anyone switch from staff because our main hand weapon choices have not gotten any better.

Maybe time move on to Black Dessert..

you’re of course assuming that after they take your money they will actually provide you with those new legendaries…

It has already been downgraded from “new set of legendary weapons” to “a few new legendary weapons with more maybe coming later some point in the future”

I recently heard that we are only getting 3 new weapons at HoT launch now.

I suspect that it will be “we wanted to get the content out to you sooner so we have delayed the release of these weapons” in another month or so.

Then in 2018 we’ll get another blog post promising new weapons “really soon guys we swear”

New Legendaries

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: ZudetGambeous.9573

ZudetGambeous.9573

That only thing that drives me up the wall is not knowing if we need the current Gift of Exploration or not. Right now I’m forcing myself through map completion (for the 6th time mind you) despite hating it just in case we need the gifts for the new legendaries. I’m not having fun, and logging in already feels tedious because of it. But I’m going to need the gifts if they are required for the new legendaries.

I find the entire Gift of Exploration thing flawed anyway. It’s preposterous if I want to make a 3rd or higher legendary for my main character I’m forced to play a different character for hours and hours despite not wanting to play that character, and through content I’ve already experienced. I know legendaries aren’t required but you need to have goals to pursue. But that’s something for a different topic.

My guess would be that you will have to do map completion for the maguuma jungle, in order to craft one of the new legendaries.

I also think most of the other Gifts will be altered, the old t6 mats will be switched out with new mats that only drop in the jungle, so nobody can stock up beforehand. The same will probably go for most of the account bound currencies. Originally, you had to complete some content in every aspect of the game (dungeons, pve, wvw, crafting etc.) in order to craft your legendary and it will probably be the same for the new Leggies.
But since launch, alot new permanent content was added, fractals, southsun cove, SW, DT, Guild Missions, ascended crafting and LS season 2.
All of that content has unique materials (Karka shells, passion flowers, prickly pears, quartz), currencies ( Commandations, geodes, crests, relics), timegates (charged quartz, ascended refining, laurels), rewards and reward structures (Luminous Armor, Collections, LS).

We will also see alot new unique materials, currencies, timegates, rewards and reward structures with HoT, so I think its quite plausible to believe that at least the new Legendaries will probably require alot of those in the forging process.

Some additional info for OP:
I think I read or heard somewhere (either in the blogpost or on a stream) that only 3 new legendary weapons will be released with HoT launch, the others will follow later on.

I dunno, as of the last beta you had to complete content in the old tyria maps in order to unlock the new legendary weapons. That doesn’t necessarily mean that they won’t take new materials, but you will need to unlock a lot of old world mastery points in order to even work on them.

I personally will be staying in the current zones to level up the mastery I need to get the legendaries unlocked so that I don’t have to go back and repeat HoT content later, plus i’ll know what I need.

Why is bleed priority so low?

in Necromancer

Posted by: ZudetGambeous.9573

ZudetGambeous.9573

Well after about 200 transfers with dagger 4 i’ve never once transferred bleeding. I always transfer crippled, torment and weakness.

By any chance, are you using Blood is Power, followed by CPC, then Dagger 4?

If so, use CPC first. By the time you hit dagger 4, the cripple will have already worn off (it is only two seconds) and you will send bleed, torment, and weakness. Works wonders. It may be possible to activate dagger 4 before the cripple wears off (not sure), in which case just slow down a hair.

It just occurred to me that if you are stacking a bunch of condition duration, that could be a problem.

Yeah before the patch I did BiP→CPC→dagger 4

Then I thought maybe it was the order I applied them that determined the order of transfer so I switched to CPC→BiP→dagger 4 but that didn’t work either

With my condition duration I need to wait ~3s for cripple to wear off before transferring, which just kinda sucks because i’m missing out on 2 stacks of bleed, 2 stacks of torment and weakness on the enemy for 3s. Which at 2300 condition damage is over 1k damage i’m doing to myself while I wait.

If you are constantly being kicked from dungeons you need to look nowhere else but the mirror.

I have done nearly 300 dungeon runs on my rabid geared condition necro and have never been kicked once. If that doesn’t get me kicked after more than 300 runs then the problem is not with the community it is with you.

There are no priorities anymore IIRC, all random, just not sure if it applies to transfers or not.

Well after about 200 transfers with dagger 4 i’ve never once transferred bleeding. I always transfer crippled, torment and weakness.

I guess really what I want is for dagger 4 to transfer 4 conditions since that is how many conditions master of corruption puts on me now.

Or i’d much rather keep crippled and transfer bleeding instead. I already have 0 mobility, I don’t really care if I have 0 mobility x2.

The only thing more annoying than all of those is when dagger 4 procs plague sending.

It just doesn’t seem there is much synergy with the new “master” of corruption abilities, everything seems to work against it no matter how hard I try to get it to work.

+45% bleed duration translates to a direct 45% increase in DPS.

How does that work

In practice it lets you maintain a much higher stack of bleeds, which means more dps.

And how does it work out to be 45% increase, exactly?

Exactly the same way as I said above.

Lets say you do 10 attacks every 10 seconds, or one attack a second with each attack applying 1 10s bleed.

Without any condition duration this means after 10s of attacking you have 10 stacks of bleed on the target. At the 11th second your first bleed falls off, but you gain a new one, keeping you at 10 stacks total.

That means with no buffs you will always have 10 stacks of bleed on the target after the first 10 seconds. So your dps will be ~150 damage per bleed X 10 bleeds = 1500 dps.

Now you get krait runes which increases the length of each bleed to ~15 seconds.

After 10 seconds you still have 10 stacks of bleed, but now on the 11th attack your first stack is still going so you have 11 stacks, then 12…. up to 15 stacks. On your 16th attack your first stack will fall off but be replaced by the new stack. So your dps is still 1500 after 10s, but now it keeps increasing for an additional 5s up to

150*15 = 2250 dps after 15s or a 50% increase.

so for fights lasting 10s or less you do the same amount of damage. for fighting lasting >15s you gain the extra 50% dps.

Pretty much every PvE boss fight lasts longer than 15s so you always gain the full benefit there, PvP is an advantage sometimes, but not nearly as reliably since fights are shorter. (I use nightmare runes personally in PvP)

You’re assuming that they won’t just remove the UW portions of the personal story. Since they removed the underwater portions of:

PvP zones
WvW zones
Starter zones
weapon sets released in the last year
a few mid-level zones with scarlet

I don’t know why you would assume they would suddenly design additional skills and traits for a new class for UW content. The logical conclusion is that HoT will remove the remaining water.

I think when they say complete they mean complete. This is their covert announcement that HoT will be removing UW content I guess.

It has been removed from PvP, WvW, all starting zones, and a few mid level zones already. Additionally underwater weapons have not been added to weapon sets for over a year now.

The only thing left is the last few mid to high level zones that still contain some water. These will be drained, frozen, or just removed. I am not, however, sure of what they will do with HotW or the underwater fractal. The fractal they might just remove, but I can’t see them removing an entire dungeon without a pretty big community backlash, unless they add in new dungeons as well.

Armor classes are something Anet tried to pull from other MMOs without thinking about how they worked or why they worked.

They essentially introduce an imbalance into the game that is never even considered.

In most MMO’s heavy classes are given heavy armor for one of two reasons.

1. They are tanks and need more armor
2. They are full time melee characters and need to survive in melee

Similarly light armor classes are light armor for two reasons

1. They are more mobile and ranged so they have less defense to make them on par with slower heavier character.
2. They do more damage so they should die faster.

Of course that is complete nonsense in GW2.

Heavy Armor:
1. There are no tanks so there goes reason 1
2. There are no melee only characters, every character has access to melee and ranged weapons with full dps potential for each

Light armor:
1. Light classes are not more mobile and are not ranged. Dagger/focus ele’s are mobile but full melee. Condi necros are mostly ranged but have 0 mobility
2. Light armor classes do not do more dps than heavy armor classes. Warriors do just as much damage (if not more, poor necros) than light armor classes

So out of the 4 reasons for armor classes, 0 of them apply to GW2.

Damage in GW2 is balanced around melee and ranged. Melee does higher damage but has less mobility/kiting potential, while ranged does less damage but has higher mobility/kiting potential. Of course your armor class doesn’t switch when you change weapons so some classes are at an inherent survivability disadvantage.

See eles. They are light armor and low HP, and as a consequence you see pretty much every ele stacking defensive utilities since they can’t stay alive without them. Meanwhile warriors are free to take full DPS utilities/traits since they have high hp and high damage and high mobility built into their class.

More like, the smart get richer, the dumb get poorer.

A rich person would never gamble more than 10-20% of their money on any single thing, that is how you lose it all. I typically have investments in 40-50 different items, and if I gamble at all I only do so with a set amount of money, usually 10% of my liquid gold.

I don’t buy frivolous things, and I farm my own mats even if it takes me an extra few weeks. Everyone is playing the same game, starting from the same point.

Watch this and tell me that doesn’t make you wanna try it. What you say is true though… I was dumb for going all or nothing and should’ve quit while I was even/ahead but greed just got to me :/

Oh I tried it… went through about 300 of the ascended globs. Made a 2000g profit. It was fun. Stopped after that though, too much pressure.

Ok well he applied twice the vulnerability bonus it seems :p

That or he used a ranged with this trait : https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Hidden_Barbs

interesting… does that actually increase bleeding damage by 20% or does it increase damage you do while someone is bleeding by 20%?

I wasn’t aware of anything that actually modified individual conditions outside of condition damage, though I’ve never played a ranger before.

Either way the biggest error is he takes a 3s burn burst and presents it like it is sustainable damage while in reality it only has a 20% uptime.

He said, bleed does 280 damage ticks with vulnerability. Which is the correct value with 25 stacks of vuln.

Bleed Damage = 0.06*CD+22.5

CD = 2650 → Bleed = 181

Vuln = +25% = 181*1.25 =226

226 !=280
