They have already stated that they will never split PvE/WvW/PvP completely because they feel it is too much work and too hard.
Basically if it doesn’t make them money very fast then it isn’t worth doing.
Thread belongs in the lore forum, possibly necro the original thread and merge.
Ceara saw something in Omadd’s machine that literally broke her mind.
Marjory’s conjecture is that she gained access to a part of her mind that was previously sealed off – i.e. “she saw herself”. This “sealing off part of the mind” is now thought (on the lore subforum) to be the action of PT within the theory: PT was supposed to be an ED champion (keep in mind that this theory has been discussed for a VERY long time, not simply before the current patch – it was less refined but has always been suspected).
I think he is the next dragon that we see in-game.
EDs are full-expansion-level content (ANet have REPEATEDLY stated that there will be no EDs until, at minimum, the next expansion): I would expect a lot of media/fanfare/etc. if they were going to drop the first expansion. I definitely agree that the story could be tied to dragons, but I seriously doubt we will be seeing one.
And yet in the same breath they almost always talk and talk and talk about how the LS is the perfect medium to deliver expansion content and how what we normally think of as expansion content could “easily” be put into a LS update. Of course in over 18 months we have yet to see this actually happen, but they keep claiming it regardless.
The end of LS season 1 would be the perfect opportunity to finally live up to the massive amounts of hype they have been giving the living world content for the past year.
-fix for conditions in PvE
-Precursor crafting
-new legendaries
-new dungeons
-new skills (50+)
-new weapon type
-new PvP game mode
-mini slot
-skin locker for PvE
-huge balance pass
-account bound WvW ranks
-revamped commander system
- new race (not required)
This would be the minimum I expect. They have been working on these “big projects” for 18 months, and keep talking about “expansion type content” but we have seen none of it since the game launched. This in my opinion is the last shot the game gets to deliver.
There have been numerous bugs/exploits with the WvW queue since launch. They just finally need to acknowledge/fix them now since the queue has a number attached to it.
When you enter the queue at 50 and someone at 2000 gets in before you it is pretty obvious now.
You lost me at warrior… the game is being destroyed specifically because they keep warrior so OP that it is laughable.
It should most definitly not be at 12k. There is a clear progression about the Radiant/Hellfire skins. They unlock every 3k AP, first the Helm, Gloves and Shoulders of both (3k, 6k, 9k, 12k, 15k and 18k) and then you will unlock under the same mechanics the Boots, Chest and Pants (21k, 24k, 27k, 30k, 33k, 36k). I’d like to point out I am nowhere close to the 21k mark, but I am happy with the skins progression of the AP.
But that’s not how it works at all. it currently goes
3k- helm
6k- gloves
9k- shoulders
21k- boots
It doesn’t make any sense at all. Basically they decided 21k for the sole reason that the top leaderboards are nearing 21k. It doesn’t follow any logical progression. It should be:
3k- helm
6k- gloves
9k- shoulders
12k- boots
15k- pants
18k-chest
No way LA gets destroyed. It would make one of the biggest personal story instances (Claw Island) pointless
Yes, but isn’t the PS canonically already supposed to be over once LS S1 started? I know it feels disjointed to a new player, but the LS is in fact your character reliving his/her history.
Nope they specifically said they would never do anything that interrupted the personal story of new players. If they do destroy LA it will only be a building here or there, but it certainly won’t alter the structure or layout of the city as this would create problems with the personal story which they said they won’t do. It’s also why they won’t use phasing as it separates players.
I had the same problem. Just click on it a few times then hit B and enter that way, it still gives the achievement. They seem to bug out if they open during a match reset.
I expect a dragon to literally burst forth from LA and level the whole thing while swarms of its minions descend on us and kill everything in sight. Anything short of that will be a disappointment at this point.
2 patches to go and this one told us nothing and advanced the scarlet story line in no meaningful way. Maybe they’ll go full on crazy and we’ll find out that WE are actually scarlet… that would be pretty hilarious actually…
Wait… are you saying that Anet designed this map to significantly favor heavy armor classes who have 3-4x the access to stability as other classes….
that can’t be right, Anet would never play favorites with Warrior and Guardian…
the information is correct.
You should go kill some bats.
forget the bats, go outside!
I don’t understand why it isn’t at 12k? Why do I need to get 3 pieces of armor I don’t want in order to get 1 that I do…
This is basically a DDoS.
From where did this information come?
It was made up. The game is doing well, but lets be honest, it isn’t doing that well… It wasn’t even prime time when the crash happened. If it can’t handle mid morning/early afternoon in the US, how is it ever going to handle prime time?
Fact is, you cannot fully test the system against thousands of simultaneous users until you actually release it to the public.
The voice of reason in a sea of knee jerk reactions.
or you know… they could open up a PTS and test it with thousands of simultaneous users like every other MMO on the market… But you know… logic…
Or you know… you should not whine about a system you know nothing about…. because.. you know … logic.
How is properly testing a game in the same method as dozens of other companies in the same industry something I know nothing about? I’ve played on plenty of PTS’s in lots of other games. Those games don’t have the massive issues that seem to plague patches in GW2. It isn’t rocket science… mass test major patches… fix the issues… don’t mass test major patches… issues on patch day.
Fact is, you cannot fully test the system against thousands of simultaneous users until you actually release it to the public.

or you know… they could open up a PTS and test it with thousands of simultaneous users like every other MMO on the market… But you know… logic…
For the future I’d suggest testing content before it goes live.
But they tested it for a whole 2 hours! What more can you ask for!
Well I suppose it really isn’t much better than logging in on patch day, completing the whole thing within 2 hours and then logging out for 2 weeks to wait for the next patch…
Wait… isn’t that why everyone bought the weapons? I mean I’m pretty sure you could fill an ocean with the blood of those i’ve killed in this game…
Attempting to enter EoTM completely broke my game. it crashed after trying to load for 10 minutes and now the game won’t even open.
Same, it completely broke the game.
Any ETA? It has been over 2 hours now and still nothing.
Forget dragonite, I want an emp frag pick. I would mine every node in the game if I had a 20% chance on those.
Just get zerker ascended gear, you can do more dps then they regen and you can kill them anyway.
It’s really a pity to read all these posts using some watered down straw man definition of “pay to win” then claiming GW2 is pay to win because it violates their straw man definition.
It’s really a pity that even though GW2 is one of the most blatantly P2W MMO’s on the market that people keep using various straw man arguments to claim it isn’t P2W every time a new P2W item is introduced into the gem store.
It was P2W as soon as the first picks were introduced. This is just the next logical progression as I pointed out when they were first introduced 6 months ago.
Anyone who is acting surprised about this has clearly not been paying attention to the trend this game has been taking over the last year.
you need to do enough damage to get credit for the kill. Due to the high number of people that do Cobalt it is very hard to do on that path, I would suggest doing it on either crimson or amber as fewer people do these paths and it is easier to get kill credit.
Can someone from deso post the strategy you used? a vague outline is fine. My server still splits into 3 groups and tries to take down each wurm… which I’m assuming is not how you did it.
Remove food from WvW, that is the solution.
Then introduce Condi Dmg/Condi Duration/ Precision gear
Then remove the cap on condition duration
Then remove the stack limit on condition duration
The Condition specs finally won’t be completely worthless and can be taken into groups for a change.
…so why should one condition class be punished and the others ignored?
Because the necro as a “condition class” can approach 40k ups with one key press.
40k health and can be perma ccd to death.
Spec better? Not sure what else to tell you.
All classes can be “perma ccd to death” necro isn’t special in this regard. 40k hp makes it way easier to survive.
Death shroud should get a 50% reduction in hp or have a 1 min cool down.
Well you know… except for the fact that necros have 0 escapes, can only access stability on a 140s CD, have only 1 stun break, have no way to prevent an enemy from leaving, and have no access to block, aegis, vigor, immunity, or evade.
We have 40k HP because literally our only option is to stand in place and face tank it. Plus it takes 30-40 seconds of fighting to even generate the life force required to use the second HP bar. In PvP I have to die 5-6 times before I even have the option of using it, then it is usable for 1 fight then I have to do 5-6 more deaths to fill it back up.
I would suggest you learn how the classes actually work in PvP before bashing them because it makes you look silly
That campaign was kind of embarrassing… they ran this huge ad campaign and promotion for it for over a month… and their likes went from 900,000 to like 920,000, slower than doing nothing…
It seems that the biggest servers and guilds have gotten the strategy for wurm down pretty well, but the DPS is slightly lacking… like 5-10% lacking…
Has anyone considered making an ascended only zerker/soldier guild? if you can get 100 players who have 10+ pieces of ascended I think the dps problem would be solved. The problem with TTS and BG is that they let anyone participate, thus severely hampering their own DPS.
I personally don’t have the time or fortitude to organize such a guild, but I would be happy to join one if someone else does. The easiest way to do it would be to have people ping their gear and then kill a lvl 80 vet within a certain time constraint. If they meet both criteria then they are in.
Jq can’t even fill up BT main for the event… so we are pretty much nowhere at the moment.
Well it is Prime time on Friday night and JQ can’t even fill blood tide main for wurm. Looks like our server has officially given up.
So basically…. you speculated on these and lost?
If speculation was a 100% certain thing it wouldn’t be speculation and it wouldn’t make you money. You win some you lose some, the key is to win more than you lose and thus make a profit.
But for every person that makes a profit it means someone else has to lose the money since the TP is a net negative on total gold.
I have over 23 stacks of ectos bought at 29s.30c a week back. Left me with very little gold on hand and now I have to sell them all. Please ectos, go back up ;(
That’s interesting… what in the world is generating so many ectos? I have not been getting nearly enough from the puppet event to think that is causing the massive supply spike…
I guess people are starting to wind down on the ascended crafting and thus just selling all their ectos?
The Devs who were supposed to be making GvG for this game all got captured by Carbine and made it for Wildstar.
They are called War plots. Each guild has a castle they need to build up and defend. You can siege other guilds castles and earn powerful guild rewards. Additionally your PvE team can “capture” some raid bosses instead of killing them by meeting certain conditions and let them loose onto other guilds while seiging their castle.
If you are looking for GvG then Wildstar is your game not GW2.
The Wurm event has introduced high armor mobs that can only be killed with condition damage. Right now they are destroying entire groups because a mob with 500k HP that can only have a maximum of 4k dps on it takes a very long time to kill.
Does this mean we are going to see a removal of the condition cap soon? These mobs are horribly designed for the current system, but would be great if the condition cap was removed.
I would recommend disabling them until a fix is put in place, but then adding more creatures with high armor throughout the game to promote an equal mix between condition and direct damage once the cap is lifted.
apparently there is scaling problems with the boss which is why the dps fluctuates so much apparently the total hp of the boss fluctuates between 60mil and 1mil which changes the amount of damage you have to finish and why dps during burn fluctuates so much.
apparently Anet said they would fix this next patch >.> in 1.5 weeks
That would explain it… in my overflows first burn phase of crimson we got him down to 60% in a single burn… the next burn phase we got him down to 58%…
They can’t attack LA!
Once Zommorros’s hut is broken, thousands and millions of rare swords will pour out and cover the world!
I just figured out the story…. Zommorros is controlling Scarlet!!!!!
What was the final phase?
I got into the main server today and hung out doing events in that server, while waiting for the event to start. I certainly didn’t stand there for an hour doing nothing. I farmed mats, I did some events, I explored a bit. I tried to climb up places I hadn’t been able to climb in the past.
Even just going around killing stuff is better than standing and waiting for an hour.
But how is that different from other MMO’s like Anet promised? I could do the exact same thing in WoW while waiting for a healer. In fact I could do more. I could go anywhere and participate in any aspect of the game I wanted while waiting for a healer.
The point is I want to do this new content, not the other stuff. So just like other MMO’s I have to wait around and do things I would rather NOT be doing just to wait for the thing I want to do. That was what Anet tried to solve, but now they seem to be anti-solving it. I would like them to go back to the original design of the game, I should be able to grab 5 people and jump right into the event/content. At launch there wasn’t a single thing in the game that couldn’t be beaten by a simple group of 5… now look at us, you need 200+ and 30 minutes of organization on top of waiting in a zone you might not want to be in for an additional hour just to participate in a single 15 minute event that has a >50% chance of failing at any given time.
You split the playerbase and end up taking some of the people doing the open world event into the smaller raid event (because you’re not going to have an 80 man raid) and then if ten or twenty groups do this, there might not EVER be enough people to do it in the open world…and that’s a problem, because Anet wants this game to be about the open world. They’ve always said that.
But of those guilds aren’t doing the open world content anyway because it sucks, why does it matter?
It’s very reasonable to argue that adding an instanced alternative would make the Open World version suffer. The instanced version shouldn’t be released at the same time, because of this.
Instead, wouldn’t it make sense to release the instanced version (in a seprate part of the Mists so that it makes sense) a week or so after the original one has ended?
I really like this idea. My only question will be this…
Will the people who want this, knowing an instance is coming if they just wait, not play the content in the world and therefore end up in the situation I outlined above.
This dividing of the playerbase thing isn’t just my concern, it’s a concern Anet themselves have expressed before…in more than one comment.
If so many people want it instanced that it prevents the open world event from being done, then clearly the majority has spoken and it should be instanced. If people flood the open world event and are having fun doing that then they will stay in the open world and do it.
If the game has so few players that splitting the content into an instanced and an open world version cause the event not to be completed then I think the game has much more pressing concerns.
I mean you are always telling people that they can guest for free to complete the content when there aren’t enough players, so shouldn’t you just take your own advice in this case if it was instanced and available in the open world? Surely there are 100 players between all the servers that would want to complete it in the open world and not in an instance? They can just all guest together and organize, that is what 12 out of the 20 or so servers already have to do for Teq.
Well if you look at it carefully I would say they will do polymock fights only for non account bound minis, which would mean only S1 and S2 minis would participate.
Some will ask: Why?
The answer is simple. They would never do an activity that would give advantage to those who were playing for 2 years and some just entered the game. For that manner they would only use minis that can be bought by everyone who just want to have them. That is almost dedicated to seasonal minis, not those special ones that went to a sell and now they are gone.
They would never do that for one simple reason. It would fling the game squarely into the P2W category. Only being able to participate in one aspect of the game if you spend money in the gem store… I hope that no one would be left playing this game if they did that.
if the process of assembling a group, preparing for the encounter and then implementing that plan isn’t fun for you… use common sense and maybe don’t stand around for 2 hours waiting for something you don’t even enjoy doing?
like, go do content you do enjoy?
So your solution to doing the new content is to go do other content that has been around for 18 months and been completed 100 times?
Maybe they should make the new content fun instead…
Remember this:
“We keep hearing other MMO developers espousing the “holy trinity” of DPS/ heal/tank with such reverence, as if this is the most entertaining combat they have ever played. Frankly, we don’t like sitting around spamming “looking for healer” to global chat. That feels an awful lot like preparing to have fun instead of having fun. "
“That feels an awful lot like preparing to have fun instead of having fun.”
Yep, now instead we have replaced it with the ultra fun stand around for 2 hours waiting for an event to start you can zerg it with 200 people who won’t listen to direction and then fail!

Or they just weren’t completely brain dead. There is nothing hard about the marionette event. You literally just need to read the 5 words above the champs head and then kill it. Even a 4 year old could do that without much difficulty. I think if I was playing a warrior that my cat might be able to do it.
Projectiles? I can’t even see my screen during that fight… It is just a mass of Adds and particle effects…
- Too much waiting around.
-> So you want the boss to be available 24/7, with no respawn timer?
- Too much annoyance trying to get a party into an OF that actually has a decent number of players in it.
-> Overflows exist for a reason. It’s an inconvenience you will have to deal with
- Too much failure.
-> If you fail to utilize strategy and coordination, you will fail. There are other easy bosses in the world if you are not skilled or too lazy enough to commit
- Too little reward when you fail.
-> You obviously didn’t reach the threshold that gave you loot, which is killing one of the wurms’ body.
1. Yes. Whenever I complete the preevents the boss should spawn, period.
2. Unacceptable, if they can’t get real servers then that is their problem not mine.
3. I have 50 people who are skilled and coordinated, it is the other 100 that are the problem and shouldn’t be. Solved by instancing the boss. My fun shouldn’t be dependent on strangers.
4. I personally think the loot would be fine if the above 3 issues were addressed.
I agree with the OP. Currently as it is you have 90 sheeple stampeding around with 10-20 organized guild members essentially trying to herd them. They do all the work but then the sheeple get the rewards.
Instance these as 10-20 man raids type content and you will solve 90% of the problems. They only people that will complain are the ones who aren’t competent enough to beat it and they shouldn’t be getting rewarded anyway until they learn the encounter and are competent enough to complete it.
I thought they said they were going to do a January Blog post about what to expect this year, but so far we haven’t heard anything concrete yet.
