guys i got some leaked info on anet’s plans:

warrior’s hammer will get damage reduced by 20%, also cc durations reduced by 1 second each (earthshaker lv1 will no longer cc just damage)

ranger will get hammer, but they will be able to throw it at approx 900 range as their new cc weapon, it will also immobilize

combustive shot will be replaced by a killshot-like skill (to diversify it it will have a shorter channel but a slow-kitten projectile)

adrenaline will decay slower as per popular request (5 sec after fights) but to balance it you will now need 60 strikes to fill to full

thief will be nerfed because why not

have hotjoins give you no rewards and add a non-ranked version of the soloQ (with the same ruleset) that gives full rewards. Problem solved.

oh and remove skyHAM from genuine soloQ, leave it in the new yoloQ (and put capricorn back in that one)

so we’d be looking at:

un-rewarded hotjoins same as now
rewarded but unranked yoloQ (with all maps in it, possibly less reward than ranked)
regular soloQ (without skyHAM)
regular teamQ

kasmeer and marjory are 2 more characters that don’t need fancy technology to be powerful in combat and it is implied that many human nobles learn mesmer magic.

it is certainly possible that humans didn’t develop as much in terms of battle technology because when the need arises their military leaders (not to say the highest ranks, but possibly on-field commanders of smaller units) are often capable spellcasters but we just don’t get to see much of it because it’s easier to give your ally npc a generic sword and a shield and be done with it.

Anise, Logan, Marjory, Kasmeer, Queen Jennah, etc basically all major human characters are spellcasters* where other races main characters are warriors, engineers, rangers and so forth. Even asura aren’t really using any magic during battle most of the time, but rather create magic items to use later so it’s not quite the same thing.

*also several smaller character: minister Zamon was an elementalist, that lady Something in the whisper storyline that makes Tybalt into a girl was human just to name 2 off the top of my head. It appears most human nobles learn some magic at some point.

taking away the possibility of enjoying a match with some friend (genuine case scenario, not “pubstomping frienship”) is bad no matter how you look at it and not worth whatever the game gains from it.

it’s a game: i want to play it with a friend/brother/girlfriend why shouldn’t i be able to? sure, friends don’t mind killing each other -usually-, but some do, and especially some mind being forced into it by game restrictions.

1 and 2 would be ok if they added a way to watch rated matches instaed, i would actually prefer spectating a rated match (with a few minutes delay?) rather than a hotjoin 1000x

To me is really a matter of what mood am i in.

Generally if i see someone going about his own business, ignoring me and not clearly going for one of my camps/dollys/etc i might just decide to leave them alone especially if i have other things i’m after… but that’s not always the case.

Being upleveled increases the likelihood of being ignored, my team having bloodlust makes me more inclined to look for an easy stomp. Uplevels attacking lvl 80s of course are dumb and need to learn it the hard way.

I’d say if i see someone going for a vista i’m just as likely to let them get it than to decide to screw them over. Roaming is freedom.

What did you expect ?

the player was telling to us (one of the party following the commander) that he felt the commander was too fast.

after being told it would be easier to follow if he joined ts (and that he might tell the commander personally there) he replied he couldn’t be bothered and went to the eternal battlegrounds with his lvl 26 bearbow. (i did cut out the conversation a bit for forum’s convenience)

fire field -with- boon duration and stability attached to it, it’s perfect for pretty much any pve encounter.

other classes can stack more might? true, but that’s it. guardian is the ONLY class with RELIABLE (reliable being a keyword) party-wide stability. that alone is more support than anything else in the game pve-wise.

pvp and wvw are kind of obvious i think, nobody bunkers a point like a guardian and good luck stomping anyone around one if you ain’t got no stability left.

also you’re seriously overrating “shake it off”. that skill is a waste of space in 99% of warrior’s builds. i’m going to do so much with a cleanse that cleanses a single condition in this meta, wow. can upgrade to 2 with -kill your own dps- runes, amaze!

yesterday i was running around home border, a commander from my guild was leading pugs and defending objectives, all in all a pretty standard wvw sight. I was in a party with 2 other staff eles and one of us says: “ranged 3/5”.

there comes the upleveled bearbow, joining us in running around the place.

ok, whatever, that’s no big deal, then this conversation occurs:

Bear: “the commander is too fast, he should wait for people”

“are you on ts?”

“no”

“there’s your problem, he’s not too fast if you hear what he says, join at X”

“no need guys, i’ll go EB now instead”

because players like this exist guild raids often prefer not having pugs around.

my server is currently 200 points behind the first (not 2k or 20k, i mean 200), a server that many considered to be much too big for us to fight. it’s one of the most interesting weeks i had in wvw.

problem is then you see them away from the fight, pewpewing with a bow, far from boon reach, with a bear’s kitten in my face, signet of the hunt only, no spotter, no frost and the boss laughing.

granted, i see just as bad warriors/guards/whatever. even had a condition thief in my party yesterday… >_>

I’m not entirely sure this is the right place to post this but here goes:

I’d like Anet’s forum staff to consider adding the word “cancer” to their profanity filter. Such illness is truly terrible and everyone who ever suffered through it or had someone close to them suffer from it knows how bad it is.

Why this word, and not every other disease?

Because other diseases haven’t been made into a “trend” word such as “toxic”, “scrub”, “pug” and whatnot. If they had it would be just as compelling, probably.

Before someone argues it: yes, i am a bit oversensitive about it because reasons, as it stands however the word is used all too often (“this X is a cancer to the game”, “that Y was so bad it gave me cancer”) and i cannot think of a single way to use it constructively on a game forum discussion.

100% agree on the mis-use of the cancer word. if people ever suffered (either personally or through relatives/friends) because of it they’d learn better than to fling the word on everything.

honestly i’d rather have that censored from the forum rather than other silly words, nobody ever uses that word in a meaningful way anyway on the forums.

would it be at all possible to mail anet or someone about thinking about it?

and yet i see so many heroes talking how there’s a huge amount of builds that hardcounter the power ranger and whatnot but after my first 2 hours playing ranger at all there were very few players that could actually catch me if i decided to disengage or survive if attacked attacked from an advantage point.

reflect? no problem, LB 5 is not reflectable, jumped by other zerker? did i mention ranger has a signet that is better than endure pain now?

honestly either i’m so bad i’m just left out of all this jazz or people that claim all this on forum are either all pros and represent a -very- small percentage of the game population or aren’t actually facestomping rangers as much as they claim to. (given on my condi war power rangers are really really easy, but i suspect it has to do more with the influx of noob rangers in the game)

i’m in a server that doesn’t really have the numbers the opposition has but is still going toe-to-toe with one of the season’s candidate for the first 3 spots this week.

guilds are the only reason this is at all possible, currently making an effort to provide every map (or at least HB and EB) a commander for pugs to follow while guilds tackle other tasks.

take guilds and server pride away from wvw and you get EotM, or not, because the rewards suck, so you just get empty maps.

of course the guy has no issues with adrenaline playing a zerg build shout war… you get so much adrenaline in a zerg just swinging at the crowd it’s completely off scale with any other part of the game, especially leveling areas. doesn’t help that shouts can be traited to generate extra adrenaline.

it’s nice to know they are actually going to look into this however, let’s just hope it doesn’t take 6 months to do something-

0/5/6/0/3 was a perfectly viable solo roaming GS/rifle spec that i had a lot of success with personally (i change my build around a lot when roaming to experiment stuff, 6/0/6/0/2 is probably what i ever got the most out of and it’s not good anymore either because of adrenaline decay being so fast)

either way, if you wanted for whatever reason to go deep into arms line with a rifle it was an ok option. now it isn’t = less build diversity and nerf to some builds.

we’re even more pidgeon-holed into cleansing ire now by the simple fact that whitout it generationg adrenaline is way too slow and i don’t want to have an elite that i don’t even use just for a chanche at filling my adrenaline, that’s even lamer than elementalist elites.

make it so the “gain adrenaline on being hit” is removed from CI and becomes a warrior baseline feature and we might see more build diversity and it would make the nerf more tolerable.

…but they are not going to read this anyway…

i’ve had my lightning rod hit for up to 5.2k in wvw on the first day i tested it after patch (against a lvl 80 char, not an uplevel). admittedly he must have been very squishy and i had it as low as 1.8k on some fully armored zerg guardian (only considering crits).

i’m not full zerker however, it really hurts a lot.

Warrior rifle actually got nerfed, not buff.

it is now a purely power based weapon, but is it a buff?

let’s consider the following: rifle traits are in the condition damage line.

what else is in that line? +10% damage against bleeding targets.

so by going deep into that line (5 points deep) you could get a decent amount of bleed damage off your autoattacks, a sizable precision boost (because vanilla killshots suck) AND get the 10% damage bonus against bleeding enemies, plus the rifle trait.

so the bleed actually synergized well with the line the rifle has it’s trait on, now it doesn’t.

nerf.

roaming isn’t just “solo” or “duo”, in your scenario a small man group doing his own thing would still be condiered a roaming group, except with a tag to keep track of it. the way you do it might change but the job won’t.

also roamers are still needed to scout the map.

it could actually have a simply-ish fix:

make it so the +15% damage/crit bonus traits for full adrenaline have the side effect to slow down your adrenaline decay (stackable), it would go a long way, i think nobody ever complained about builds using those being too stronk in pvp.

not like anet will ever hear this however … :\

yesterday i was fighting in wvw with my warrior. at some point we killed a few enemies in front of a heavily defended gate and started preparing the assault, the usual jazz: clear cannons, oils, guards, build up rams and some arrowcart to target the treb behind the door…

well what do you know, the moment my warrior stopped being hit for like a second all my adrenaline was gone. did i REALLY get so used to explosions, arrows flying 2 cm off my head and destruction all around that i couldn’t even keep some adrenaline pumping despite having maybe a few dozens arrows in my back from an arrow cart moments earlier?

roaming isn’t trivial in the slightest if done right.

yesterday my guild assault an enemy keep that risked getting a waypoint up (in our own borderland). the fight took literally hours because of disablers and the enemy forces being superior to ours in size.

2 roamers stopped every single dolyak to that keep for hours straight and killd a fair amount of enemies that were running back from spawn to the fight alone. I am positive the battle would have been entirely different if those supplies hadn’t been “roamed” the whole time.

at that ranger is really strong, there are few things harder to defend a dolly from than a zerk ranger at the moment.

ele will always be more versatile sure, but you can also walk off most of it’s attacks (i’ve played staff ele a lot myself but mostly wvw admittedly), while i agree on the usefulness of water/ice fields and powerful cc i’m looking at the offpoint sniping role here, everything listed can also be done by a bunker-ish on-point ele which is a very different role.

some bursty thief coming for your wounded teammate? between the ranger and the ele it is the ranger that can drop it before it even gets the job half done.

also moar range and mobility allowing for easier placement and replacement.

it wasn’t meant as a “zerk staff eles are bad”, but atm i get more worried by a ranger being off the point, might be because i know how to handle an ele a lot better, time will tell. right now i think half my opponents didn’t even know what my skills do aside from “it shoots arrows” when i tried it.

problem is, as far as pvp is concerned, conquest is not about 1v1.

if the ranger gets hold of a good spot and a bunker friend of his is holding the point downstairs you can either waste your time chasing the bunker and getting pincushioned from afar or try to run around -off point- trying to catch a ranger with way too many escape tools. you can’t ignore a ranger shooting at you anymore, but you can’t really chase them around easily either which imho makes them totally in-meta now as far as s/tpvp are concerned.

can’t hold a point well on his own but then again a lot of classes/specs can’t. have fun trying to decap a guardian or hambow or engi while you get a constant hail of hurt from a safespot somewhere nearby however.

compared to a zerker staff ele (who plays a similar role) i can ignore that one after meteor burst and if i get to it it dies a lot easier.

i played ranger for like 3 or 4 hours yesterday full glass spec in tpvp and didn’t feel glass at all honestly. i could just stay on a ledge and rain death from further than anyone could reach. (i maybe played ranger 2 hours total before that months ago)

if pressured melee i had: (as LB/GS)

- stealth (LB 3)
- awesome pushback (LB 4)
- 1100 range dash (GS 3)
- block (GS 4)
- stun/daze (GS 5)
- stunbreaker that also removes immob and evades (lightining reflexes)
- 6 second damage immunity (64 recharge with mastery, better than endure pain)
- AOE immobilize (elite)
- 2 immob from pet (black widow)
- knockdown and fear from other pet (wolf)

basically there was no 1v1 that i could not win or run away from to relocate and pewpew again (but often win), and i could swing any teamfight in our favor from a range where i was almost entirely safe.

it’s not so much that RF is OP, it’s the entire kit that got that push it needed to be really really good in pvp. you cannot ignore a ranger now but you cannot exactly catch it easily either (and going after it with multiple people offpoint in conquest is a waste of time). Sure you can avoid RF but what about 2-4k autoattacks and on-demand interrupt from very vary far away that just keep coming during a fight?

it might just be me, but an equally “all out” build on my thief ends up killing me a lot and i don’t feel nearly as effective. if i try it on warrior instaed i might be even scarier but once my utils are down i just die really fast to focus fire, necro has similar results but whitout the utilities part. and ele full dps is just lol i die if i trip over a rock.

yeah except those cues have always been silly because they don’t take into account wheter you’re gaining or losing adrenaline.

example: human male warrior shouts “almost ready” at 2 full bars. except it also shouts it if you were full and lost 1 bar.

i started playing a ranger today, full zerk 6/6/2/0/0 in pvp. It doesn’t get any more faceroll than that, get on a ledge, kill stuff. reflection? i can dodge too you know. never took more than 4k damage top from reflected attacks.

when they get melee it gets hairy sometimes but you know what, if it’s really bad i have a stealth and a 1100 dash on weapon swap. and they say warrior runs away too easily.

i think i’ll let my war rest for a while, fotm choochoo here i come.

adrenaline bar is kind of tiny, it was just meant from a visual perspective. (adrenaline is a type of resource, just as hp and endurance are).

guys, really, it’s not OP/UP/l2p, it’s BAD DESIGN.

i’m not arguing war adrenaline bar makes it too weak/too strong, it’s just frustrating to players leaving combat for 2 seconds and having adrenaline compeltely empty, it’s game breaking in every mode not just your precious pvp.

it’s gamebreaking even to a player that bought gw2 yesterday and is trying to figure what is this adrenaline thing we have and why does he never have any to hit a mob with.

want to tweak adrenaline? ok fine, please just do it in a way that doesn’t make us feel frustrated after every fight.

just imagine your HP bar would deplete when out of combat: assume for a moment the game was balanced around having to always find a fight fast or die, would it be OP/UP/l2p? no, it would be kittening stressful and i’d stop playing tomorrow.

edit: an example of possible tweak could have been adrenaline needing 45 strikes instaed of 30, big nerf but not frustrating as this one is.
