there is a charr leading a norn and sylvary around pointing them a few interesting spots but i’m not sure it qualifies. if i recall correctly it spawns near the asura gate and ends near the durmand priory.

i think the best interpretation is just that they use the ossuary to stitch common corpses into abominations (unless i missed it and abominations have a living coutnerpart).

the process was likely first started there because it just so happens to be the largest burial site in orr and the one with more “raw materials”. once the “native” supply of corpses started to run thin they began to carry more there rather than having to setup another abomination-factory somewhere else.

while creating a risen appears to be a simple process creating an abomination likely isn’t. the reason why in the large room at the end you get to fight simple undeads instaed of abominations isn’t so much that it’s what the urns are supposed to do but they simply needed something to stop you -now- and had no time to work the corpses into more than thralls.

that’s because 3 stacks of might by themselves mean a lot less than swiftness and retaliation. might is just a “tweak” to your numbers if you want, while the other 2 add additional effects to you character.

the problem is in how easy it is to stack it in pvp nowadays with runes of strenght and how much those runes benefit from it (hoelbrak isn’t that bad).

i wouldn’t suggest a nerf that impacts pve or wvw honestly (and gvg), might stacking is fine there, it might be (no pun intended) better to just give them more counters by improving boon-stripping.

…or maybe just halve the base duration in pvp only.

i also remember how an asura turned us into an avatar of balthazar to fight off the undead in lion’s arch, i dunno, that’s another great opportunity wasted for humans to do… something? (granted that was the best transform in the game)

not only that but the game goes as far as making the only human in destiny’s edge the prime reason they failed at killing an ED (i suppose logan gets better when it saves you near the end of your personal story by recovering the second airship in arah but that’s a part a few will remember, the rest? uuuhhhh every single person in tyria knows about it)

i play a condi warrior in spvp most of the time, let’s face it impale is probably the strongest skill in the entire s/s – lb setup.

it hurts REAL bad, it has a really long duration, reasonable cooldown and it’s easy-ish to land. not only that but it’s a difficult skill to cleanse because it delivers over a few seconds so if you want to fully recover from it you have to wait for it to peak (= you already ate a few seconds of 1-4 torment stacks). it’s also hilarious that most thieves have 0 ways to cleanse it.

reducing the torment duration by 33% is not going to make it any less useful.

of all the nerf that are coming this is one of the few that made me go “yeah that’s fair”.

Tanking is a punishable offense in officially organised sport events.

GW2 is a game which players pay (they are customers and not contestants) and nobody can ever force you to play wvw if you don’t feel like it, build siege (which you pay for) if you don’t want to, or capture a keep if you feel like running circles instead.

Nothing of what tanking is made of is a punishable offense in GW2.

warriors are even better for the role, leaps and dashes aren’t hindered by the orb so sword mainhand or greatsword (+ possibly bullrush if you’re designed orb runner) can carry you much faster than a guardian.

…pair it up with war immunities and much higher health pool…

is the machine really related to dragon energy however?

i thought it “simply” toned down the waypoint “noise” so the dragon would not really pay attention to it.

i suppose the inquest could attempt the opposite process to attract more dragon attention to this or that place after studying it but it’s a bit far fetched. i mean, i can see why the inquest would steal it given the chanche (it is a powerful and pretty critical piece of machinery right now), but i don’t see how it relates to them being obsessed by dragon energy.

It’s an utility that does nothing else than prevent new condis to be applied on you for 8 seconds every 60, you still take damage from anything you had already ticking. It used to be 4 seconds and it was entirely useless.

What’s the problem with it?

Besides endure pain is 4 seconds because burst builds attack on small windows of time and the harder they hit the more likely it is 4 seconds are enough to kill them if they don’t kite. Your average condition build should have no issues surviving 8 seconds if they don’t expect to facetank.

Is it a strong utility? yes, OP is kind of a stretch.

i don’t think the arcane council would see it as thievery unless he claims it to be his own creation. she -is- a kid and the issue at hand is critical to asura influence.

waypoints and portals seem to be asuras main grip on tyria’s economy allowing for quick transportation that only they can control and exact fees for.

it’s got a tell so obvious people could see it coming from the previous match.

and it’s not so much that it’s hard to land, that isn’t changing. it’s that it’s already pretty crappy whitout needing to build up your adrenaline back everytime you miss it (which is most of the time with decent opponents). some weapons simply deserve some compensations for the nerf.

except hambow is still going to reset pretty easily, but what about warriors whitout longbow or that use hard bursts like skull crack? what, no one runs whitout longbow or with a mace? exactly my point, the nerf is fair but it just shoves longobws even deeper down our throats. nerf adrenaline? ok, then compensate the already underpowered builds or we’ll end up with even less build diversity in pvp.

i used to play another game which i won’t mention where rogues were hated for their “perma stealth” builds in pvp. devs nerfed rogues so hard and so wrong that months later perma stealth was the only viable build left.

even the most sieged up of T3 can’t survive forever, not even with a comparably large amount of defenders. so long as the attacker has the strenght and stamina to deny the enemy new supplies the hardest of garrisons will eventually run out of materials for repairs and new siege.

i have never seen a fortress that could not be taken with a superior number of attackers, granted it might take a few hours.

Most people don’t bother using stability to ensure they win the mob. Go on, try it, i stole countless chiefs by using “fear me”, a moment before the mob died. Whichever the class you have something to that effect, it’ll make it much better.

also it’s nothing like pets at all, it’s not about anet not fixing broken mechanichs (broken: not working as expected/intended), it’s about poor designing/balancing choiches that nerf the hardest weapons that were already weak reducing build diversity a lot.

It’s not about having a downside, it’s about suddendly having too many.

Now missing a burst is going to screw you over -real bad-, meaning you’ll have to rely on longbow even more or employ builds that don’t use up their adrenaline much.

It’s fair for warriors to use up adrenaline when missing, i’ve always thought it should be that way (as a main warrior) BUT it needs some sort of compensation else we’re pidgeonholed even more into longbow while making barely viable weapons like mace and rifle even worse.

it’s a badly implemented nerf because it hits some weapons MUCH harder than other and guess what? it’s not the already good ones that get hit the hardest.

it’s a wrong nerf as much as it’s (imho) a wrong buff giving PU condi mesmer a torment on auto attack, that is not the one build that needed help the most.

I’m just gonna put this out here buuuut

Berserker’s Stance should be changed to 100% immunity from crippled, chilled, immobilized, and weaken.
Why should going berserk prevent you from being set on fire, feared, or bleeding out? I’d even go as far to say going berserk should make one bleed out faster, but I’m not that evil in the change I’d like to see.

if there was only 1 condition that it made sense for a zerker rage stance to prevent that would be fear, you don’t get scared when all you can think of is killing whatever is in front of you regardless of your own safety.

hard to say which is better between A and B when we know what A is but only have some vague infos about B.

…but probably ele, necros are ok but after a certain skill level players just sort of learn how to handle a necro and the low mobility doesn’t help them in soloQ either.

it’s a really good point you’re making, if a nerf to thief was due it should have been aimed towards their more bunkerish specs, not the burstier ones, is thief still supposed to be a squishy burst class or did devs change thier mind on how is the class supposed to play?

given, they did change sword 3 somewhat making evade spamming more costly, but it’s not really a meta-shifting change.

unless said attack force is too smart to place proper siege itself, just 2 days ago i had a tower attacked by like 20 players, they set up 3 catas on a nearby hill and started shooting at the wall. a few cannon shots had them retreat to the nearest supply camp… facepalm

warrior nerf is far from insignificant, it basically makes axe a really bad weapon, hammer less good, mace/rifle a joke if they ever had a spot and longbow much more of a necessity.

also it might make GS really good in pvp, that’s something that needs testing.

on the other hand hambow and condition warriors are among the least affected builds, so it’s not an insignificant nerf, but it’s a clumsy one that nerfes the wrong builds.

popping one in 2v2 means you’re going to be in a really bad spot if the 2 opponents decide it’s the right time to put pressure on you.

bleed from rifle autoattacks often contributed to more than 20% of the total skill damage. make of it what you will.

also it comboed very well with build that go deep in the precision traitline for the 10% damage against bleeding targets.

if it’s a pve build it’s just inferior to meta dps builds and offers no real benefit over those.

if it’s spvp/tpvp you bring none of warrior’s strenght for that mode, which is to say skills that cover an entire point (hammer and/or bow)

i’ll assume it’s wvw then, where GS + Sword have some kind of reason to coexist:

problem is, you have an aggressive build, but no real burst damage: the only burst you have is sword f1 canceled into 100b but immobilize isn’t hard cc, you opponent can still cleanse/teleport/blink/go invuln/cc you depending on class and setup. Other than that you’re easily kited around as you have no other cc (leg specialist is too short, especially with many roamers using -40% condi duration). You would need at least bull’s rush to cover this a bit.

You also have no cleansing ire, meaning you NEED zerker stance or signet of stamina, and after you blew those you’re gg for a condi build. That’s 2/3 utility already fixed anyway.

You probably want some for of stability so there you have your utility setup, you’ll be forced to run bull rush/balanced stance or signet of dolyak/zerker stance or signet of stamina.

That said, you have 0 defensive investment, so depending on your armor you’ll be really squishy and very easy to be killed by more burst-y roamers such as thieves, d/d eles, shatter mesmers and probably 0 chanche against condition specs.

This is from a roaming point of wiev, i wouldn’t go into a zerg fight with this build obviously.

Finally: warrior’s sprint? really? you already have more leaps/dashes than a cangaroo on the moon… just use signet mastery and get swiftness from your elite signet.

ehh you could run the bow, use skill 5 + lightning flash to freeze someone (can’t be stun-broken), then drop an ice storm (skill 4) on their head, then throw the bow away (yes you can, use weapon swap key) and use whatever else.

you can do it, it will work a few times, but i wouldn’t count on it too much when the game will start matching you with competent players in pvp. The slot is usually better spent on something else.

Best All-Around Roaming Class?

warrior vs engineer depends on respective setups imho, both professions have many viable roaming builds and all have strong and weak points:

for example, engi usually have few stunbreakers, while most warriors will have few stuns while roaming a mace/gs war (which also carry lots of projectile reflect in the standard package) could be a real headache to an engi that only brought 1 breakstun.

that same warrior could be an easy target to kiting however, but other carry a rifle and that’s a real kiter-buster.

or engi might be condition: a GS/rifle war with zerker stance, condi reduction food and cleansing ire would be really really tough to actually defeat, but maybe that war isn’t using 2 or even all 3 (CI isn’t even that hot in roaming if you aren’t using a bow) of those in favor of more dps making it an easy target to conditions instaed.

The way i see it war and engi have the widest spectrum of setups out of all classes, so you can’t really say which class has the upper hand overall.

man everyone has their opinions but…

you’re the only one that seems to think guardians only have 1 build available, or that they are squishy. sure, full dps guard is squishy-ish, but compare to full dps thief? that’s ridicolous, thieves have stealth and that’s it, dps guards have a mix of (depending on exact build) aegis, blocks, stability, really nasty cc, blind spam, teleports, invulnerability on elite, high boon uptime, some of the best pvp healing skills ever, great condi removal, you name it… i mean just take medi guards as an example, healing 2k hp everytime they use an utility? in a mid-lenght fight you’ll more than make up for you lower base hp.

you don’t NEED max hp, warriors have high hp because 9 time out of 10 the only defensive mechanism they have is a large hp pool and endure pain/zerker stance.

[NUDE] is NOT the guild for you...

Never ever changed server from when i bought the game well before 1 year ago, active player in wvw on any size scale, from solo roaming to havoc group to guild group to omfgfridayafternoonmegablob both primetime and offhours when job allows. And i’ll tellyou something more, many NUDE players are the same, sure they play at night but it’s not uncommon to see them in a 20 man group at day trying to expugnate that t3 hills with as many defenders as there are attackers.

nightcapping is part of the game and it’s stupid calling people out for playing the game the way it’s intended by it’s developers (a 24/7 war)

yes i think i hear you, you didn’t like asuras but made one anyway because they give a slight but unfair advantage in pvp. can’t blame you, but i wouldn’t go about saying they should compensate players for leveling the field.

…or you had another reason for making a character you dislike that i’m totally missing here but that is somehow related to how other characters perceive you (so not, for example “because i wanted to play asura personal story”). this should only apply to spvp (and maybe wvw?) anyway.

full zerker on a necro is fine so long as your positioning is good and you’re not lagging. try rune of vampirism maybe, they are a get out of jail for free card every 60 seconds that works really well in zergfights.
