The guy in the video is not me sadly..
This guy is like .
This guy is Faenor from the old guild “Escuade Garviel”. He is on of the strongest Fresh air in WvW. The escuade garviel has been one of the strongest guild to do 5vX fights in WvW.
If you are looking for cool stuff in WvW fresh air I will put a video soon of me playing core spec fresh air in 1v4 in WvW multiple times. Me and Feanor are the kind of guys that had been playing fresh air since the start of the game ^^.
Personnally, even if the build of Faenor is really strong in team fights its lacks of punch in 1v1 (I deffeated him with that build cause i can run out of his overload really easy).
Glorfyndel from [WaVe].
I dueled him a few times today. Overload is indeed easily kited. Tho his build has great sustain and cc and he is quite proficient at it. Immobs and stuns can catch you off guard dependin on what class you play, i was on pve rev so stunbreaks galore.
The best weapon is main hand dagger. It doesnt matter much what you pick as off hand and 2nd weapon. The autoattack has good damage.
Scepter is a condition based weapon. Damage over time is bad for lvling as things die too quickly so power is better.
Minions are alright. You may also want to unlock signet of locust for 25% movement speed bonus.
It doesnt matter much what specialisation you unlock first. Anything but curses really is ok. I would go spite or soul reaping for damage.
I appreciate what you are trying to do but as you mentioned, the opportunity cost for both power and condi reapers is too kitten high. The only build I see it being optimal is condi (vanilla) necro which is difficult to survive with these days.
You pick 2 non-minor traits to get a 7 second CD stunbreak. But problem is
7 sec is irrational as you wont just flash shroud
You need to not be in shroud and have it off cooldown to get use of it
Now lets look at my new main, revenant:
Stability on dodge (minor trait)
Stunbreak on legend swap 10s CD (minor trait)
if traited with enhanced bulwark, I can get 2 stacks of stability for 6-10s.
In conclusion: The trait is only worth picking for old condi necro and otherwise not due to high opportunity cost.
I think overall ele is a bit stronger.
Necro has selfish builds that do decent damage.
Ele is much more support oriented in pvp and can be in wvw as well. But you can also spec into damage in zergs. Necro fares better in duels too but lacks mobility to escape from outnumbered situations.
Don’t play a class depending on how strong it is since each balance patch can shift things. Id say necro is an easier class to do OK with. Play what you find fun, or even better play both. Why would you limit yourself?
Anet pls change matchmaking, im losing all the time
Anet pls change matchmaking im getting 30 winstreaks
Anet this is ridiculous, my winrate is 50%
I’ve been saying this for months:
Nerf all damaging condis durations by x% so people need to spec into expertise instead of toughness.
Why are we talking about buffing things? We should be nerfing overused traits, not keep feeding the creep that is power in this arms race. The weak traits will be relatively better after nerfs, and if its not enough then we can talk about buffs.
Also, this might be better on the warrior forum.
Blobbing is one of the worst tactics and can easily be outplayed. Send your mobile players to uncap nodes and when they split to cap things, kill them one by onE. im guessing this is low tier games.
Scenario;
- Me, above average player, 65, 70, 78% winrates to legendary in 3 seasons. Obviously decent MMR. I Mostly got competent teammates and had not much trouble.
MM
- Season 4 MMR is reset. I face players of mostly below my skill level. I breeze through divisions again.
Unless I misunderstood your suggestion, this would solve nothing. In fact, below average skilled players would complain more for getting matched against better players even if its for 1-2 weeks only.
Seems good, but I would have to test it myself before giving judgement.
I imagine it would be something in between WvW flexibility and PvP amulets
Tutorials could be helpful, not a huge issue in my opinion. Just the description of conquest should be enough. Rotations and profession roles are not set in stone so its best people learn from others or look up guides. Not a priority at all.
I think this is a low tier problem so I cant comment on it much. If anet moves dailies to unranked then how do I get my dailies? It’s a player side problem, not on anet.
I used to think matchmaking was Oknow Im just not sure. I did get to leggy fairly easy, some might say its because of MMR heaven. No mstter what Anet does, the system cant take into account situational awareness and mechanical skill of players. So whatever they do to the algorithm, people will ALWAYS complain. Helseth obliterated anyone even before the leagues so thats not a valid example. It does not make sense though as you said, that legendary can be achievable by grinding and we cannot see individual MMR of players.
The meta isnt so bad. There is an overabundance of boons and condis but the powercreep is here to stay. I got used to it, adapted to new forgiving builds cause other games arent good enough. But we are the minority Natasha, most people absolutely hate the meta and left the game.
if u run bound or impaling lotus just use it between ur uppercut and finishing blow to lose blindness. also escapist absolution can be used between the single chain skills if u run it. if not or theres no endurence (perish the thought!) u can either remove it with shadowstep midcast or agilty signet.
Or just stow weapon and press 1 so you keep your utilities.
First of all props for sparking an actual intelligent discussion thread
1) Agree that amulets needs to go. They have been messing with them too much. This is what I suggested: sliders https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/A-new-system-for-stats-Sliders/first#post6227188
2) I dont see a downside to this. 9 traits instead of 3 for grandmaster. Nice.
3) Nope. Others have explained this well.

What steelo said. Swiftness wont make you travel longer distance with movement skills anymore, but chill doesnt slow your leap down either. Necros got a clunky leap ona 5s cooldown, and more access to chill. They still wont catch you in most cases but necro mobility is less of a joke now.
Go into heart of the mists and use skills on dummy golems. If you dont like the skills, dont play it. Revenant has no issues with damage whether melee or ranged and no prob with mobility. Its cause you are lvl 13. Unlock shiro first for mobility and use sword for damage, hammer for ranged.
Revenant is a class that has very few weaknesses. Of course depending on your build it can have access to pretty much all boons with a huge uptime, especially on stability and resistance and fury. But unless you use mallyx as a legend, conditions will melt you. The playstyle is somewhat unique. In general you want to swap legends every 10s to maximize skill use. The meta marauders herald cannot deal with condis well but can still put up a fight thanks to blocks on weapons, evades from shiro and glints heal. Main role is to roam and duel non condi builds. In teamfights use cc and boons while focusing the weakest link and getting support from your allies. You might wanna check this thread too https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/4r17yb/i_just_dont_get_revenant_teach_me/
I’m not worrying if it’s “an issue”; I’m just curious whether equipping a mainhand dagger / or grandsword is still effective with viper stats to bring down OW foes quickly.
No that would suck. Convert your stuff to vipers, then get a second exotic zerker set. Ascended doesnt matter in open world.
Pve: http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Berserker_-_Phalanx_Strength
Pvp: http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Berserker_-_Macebow
There is also a greatsword / axe build for pvp which isnt condi based but its not as good as condi.
Your allies do get the endurance. I was using this during the crab guild mission to give the crab carrier more dodges.
Smart, thanks!
.
…
I firmly believe that if mesmers and thieves cannot contest a point with stealth at least, then guardians and warriors and rangers and engineers shouldn’t be able to contest a point while evading or blocking. The same goes to necromancer Deathshroud.
You are comparing apples and twinkies. Endure pain has a 60s CD and can still be targeted and even killed with condis. Stealth on the other hand can be maintained with 100% uptime by thieves and engis, mesmers have some too. It would be stupid spamming AoE skills blindly. Also, making evades not contest would hurt the one who can dodge 12 times in a row.
I cant believe this thread is still running. Thieves cant fill every role and that is fine. Why cant my necro fill zerker roamer role or bunker support
why are some people allowed to post in forums xD
I agree that big changes are not needed but merely number / cooldown tweaks on lesser used traits and the scepter & OH dagger sets. I also dont see ele being the new glass cannon and thats fine. Half the classes rent viable with zerker ammy. Best that could happen is a bruiser like old d/d ele and current scrapper.
Backline staff build is definitely really good. Dagger/x frontline isn’t as good unless you are in an organized group where u can coordinate heals and cc. I’ve seen focus used in top tier GvGs but no warhorn. It sucks offensively but obsidian skin on a 33s cooldown is simply too good. Note that for pug zergs anything works.
My map completion build
For situations where its hard to be melee, use staff and swap out fresh air for bolt to the heart.
Necromancer has very few ways to deal with focus fire. Shroud + Rise is usually not enough in a teamfight so you need to position yourself on safe spots like ledges. Flesh wurm is also handy to escape. I’m afraid that’s the best you can do by yourself, but reaper is much stronger with the support of teammates.
…
And here is my point! The problem is that it doesn’t only works but it works better that the dedicated legend for direct damage… a simple example of the lackluster legends! Why pick Shiro if Josh’s build deals tons of damage and helps you with condis?….
Why pick shiro? It’s a simple trade-off. Shiro provides better mobility, burst potential and kiting potential (better at roleplaying too :P). Mallyx is slow and has no stunbreaks but resistance is such a strong boon that in many cases its a fair trade-off.
Personally I dont use mallyx when roaming solo but if I’ll sometimes swap if Im with a +5 man group or dueling a condi build. No matter how lackluster you think they are, 4/5 legends see use in WvW and 3/5 in PvP. Now compare that to other professions utilities. Signet, arcane, conjure, glyph eles arent a thing are they?

Personally I think you’re on to something, however sadly I don’t think A-net will even give something like this a second thought, which is sad considering SPvP can get away with anything without effecting the rest of the game due to it being completely isolated. That being said there are still things that take priority imo before something like this would need to take place like balancing Spvp on its own for example.
And based off them deleting an amulet every other month something like this would be a burden off their shoulders if they could get it right. but judging from the past I wouldn’t consider that for a second.
Countless
My thoughts exactly. They won’t listen to well written constructive balance suggestions or to anything like this. But maybe they discuss the ideas amongst themselves and they get turned down.
As you said, they have been deleting amulets and adding new ones but if sliders are implemented, they could put some restrictions and be done with it. Also as a side note, they need to nerf the duration of all damaging condis on all classes so they would need to invest in expertise as well to be dangerous, just like a zerker build that needs ferocity and crit.
I have an idea to increase build diversity and it involves ditching the current amulets. I’m not convinced this is a simply better system and acknowledge that there might be some bigger problems that arise. Hence I wanted to start this discussion although there is no chance a forum suggestion would get implemented no matter how brilliant.
The idea is that we would use sliders to pick stats freely under constraints such as:
Total stats < 3000 or 3200 (< equal or smaller)
Tough + Vit < 1200
Tough + Vit + Heal < 2100
Tough + Vit + Condi < 2100
Investing in a stat starts from 600
[ 0000 | 600 | 750 | 900 | 1050 | 1200 ]
Pow _ [••••••|••••••|••••••|•••••••|•••••••]
Prec _ [••••••|••••••|••••••|•••••••]
Fero _
Tuff _
Vit __ [••••••|••••••]
Cond _
Heal _
Exp _
The example would show 1200 power 1050 precision and 750 vitality. (Left out concentration for now cause its not in pvp for some reason). I’d like to hear your opinions some potential problems that would arise like a cele v2.0.
(edited by akaCryptic.2389)
…Without toughness I think the difference is small, but with it, as far as I understand, the armour weight difference is multiplied.
It’s the opposite. With no toughness the damage difference will be higher. You will get diminishing returns as you build a lot of toughness. 2000 – 2300 difference should be more noticable than 3700 – 4000.
As for OP’s argument, no this isnt hindering balance. I’d say base HP is even more important but isnt significant because of what chaith the forum lord said. Tbh I was expecting pve – pvp skill split when I read the title
Thanks for putting this together. I find it interesting that all necros have different preferences.
Anyone got the builds used on proleague? Im especially interested in stuff like carrion gs warr but I cant watch the streams for another week. Also, someone used to pit together statistics of number of each class used and winrate.
Wow umm, GS is bad for condi. And necro is a bad support in general. Best you can do is take vampiric aura and transfusion. And u have to decide between Power and condi.
Boon duration is not even the problem tbh
An organized group that doesnt have a mesmer gets perma might fury swift retal regen vigor protection while having 50% resistance uptime and 80% stab uptime. Revs can get the latter boons perma as well. With the help of a mesmer a group of 10 can stack +1 minute of all boons except for resistance and stability. Although resistance is around 30s.
Necros can corrupt the kitten out of you
Maybe so but necro corrupts have much higher cooldowns than boon or condi removal skills. Traited reaper leap is quite effective but it requires you to go condi, in which case your damage output is gutted by resistance.

Fresh air dd. I put zerker stats but you know whatever works
If anything, the next patch will tell us a lot about the direction the balance is going. .
Actually, that was last patch, and they just slightly nerfed some skills and traits. It’s clear that the powercreep will stay, maybe even worsen with next expansion. It’s a shame, really. Gw2 has great combat and graphics.
But you cant’t blame Anet for all of it and here’s why
1) Mans gotta eat. Game went “f2p” and if gemstore sales dont cut it, they need this backup pay 2 win thing.
2) Nerfing all specs equally is harder than it looks. But if 3 months of imbalance will bring about a less passive, more active and more fun meta, so be it. As long as they balance every month and listen to constructive feedback. Unlike pro beta testers that bestowed upon us this creep of power. “Omg rev so useless I have no energy” …
Is the endurance gained for allies or just the ele?
If I have my auras traited to give vigor and regen and aurashare, and I pop 5 auras at once, will my allies gain 1 dodge or just me?
Currently out of town so cant test.
Ty
/15feetinthegrave
Ex necro main (since rev came out), was trying to put together a new wvw build as I questioned the usefullness of necro. Anyways I got a few questions as I cant test some stuff at the moment due to being out of town.
WIKI: “While in Death Shroud, direct damage is halved, except when the hit depletes all of the life force. This damage reduction isn’t shown in the combat log.”
1) Is this still the case? A 10k eviscerate would only drop my LF from 15k to 10k? Is this also the case for reapers shroud?
2) I have read this somewhere on the forum. Does reapers onslaught actually increase stomp and rez speed?
3) Werent DS skills damage normalized for weapons of different strength? Previously a staff shroud did more dmg than dagger shroud. Is this also true for reapers shroud? Wiki says its not normalized.
4) Do cancelled/interrupted wells still go on full cooldown?
Thats it for now I guess.
Why is this topic here and not in the bug sections.
guy…. there are a lot of skills like this.
I think it is intended.
A lot of skills also track in stealth like rapid fire or guard sword 3. Anet is consistently inconsistent. Last patch removed the stealth tracking of revenant sword 2 but lets other classes keep it? Okay.
I should have mentioned, I roam with GS/axe warrior, condi reaper and power rev but havent ran into one with my rev. They easily evade every attack even if i try to land at the end of death blossom. I can put some pressure with reaper but then of course they run away like every thief and come back to chain CC.
I keep running into these guys, all they do is press 3 and dodge , repeat sequence. Impossible to stunlock or catch. Their damage is not best but man are they one of the most stupid builds out there right next to PU condi mes…
I try to ignore and go the other way, but they perma cripple me and /laugh.
What do?
Hello mistwalkers,
Some of you may know me from playing whatever is OP, and then changing my focus to another profession after a patch. Well, I have been playing rev a lot since december but waited for the nerfs to actually record video material. Enjoy!
Fights are a bit lengthy due to tanky enemies and me kiting like there’s no tomorrow but rev is still very strong so putting in duels would be unfair.
P.S: Germany and Switzerland don’t like my use of copyrighted music
(edited by akaCryptic.2389)
I thought about bunker reaper too. But imo blighters boon is worthless without spite. I wanted to make a valkyrie build with 90% crit in shroud. But it offers no support and still gets downed easily when focused if plague form is not ready. Maybe my build is just bad but i still think a bunker should have more evades, blocks or decent support.
This thread needs to be back up just in case devs read the forum. Maybe post on reddit?
It makes no sense havinga GM trait that doesnt work with your profession mechanic and ultimately useless half the time.
I was just logging in to the forums after months to post this suggestion. Needs to be done, trait is way underused anyways…
Whenever descreption lists damage as hit per attack and not damage combined (i.e. 2000 (x6) ), it procs damage with each hit.
My quick experimentation with hundred blades & ghastly claws disagrees with your statement.
It’s the same mechanic that procs the might each attack as well. I’ll live with the confusion.
Except you only get might if you hit something, but the confusion is always there and you cant cancel the animation.
Is this intended or a result of the way its coded?
Waited over 2 hours. Can confirm Friend of Rabbits is still bugged.
