joking aside (sort of)… these people are killing these guys legit with in-game mechanics, i don’t see what’s the problem here? i guess like people mentioned, they just don’t like people farming, or if there’s something that’s being done that was not “intended”… i personally wouldn’t farm the gauntlets even if i could, but that’s a different story for anothe time i guess.

yea towers are super glitchy. if i knew ahead of time, i’d have made a spreadsheet to make sure i’ve hit them up and note which ones are buggy. right now i’m working through teh regions (Shiverpeaks, Kryta, Maguuma, etc etc) from low starter to high level map.

make sure you loot the chest. and ideally do it when no one is doing it near the same time you are – that’s when it bugged out for me the most. when people loot it right before me, i don’t get to loot the chest and i’m not careful, i get sent to DR. :///

usually, you can see the Champions spawn near by and chilling as well as Green NPCs. that way you know which Champ will be up next after the cycle of morale, emissary, champ (iirc).

defs bring stability, etc when you fight ’em lol.

hmm, i’m not in-game right now so not sure about today, but yesterday was Lion’s Arch Ambassador – 50 kill swith the LA buff.

previous ones included but not limited to:

• ride balloon to DR
• climb balloon towers (or loot chest)
• 6 events in pavlion
• etc etc

exactly. you should see them within your daily categories and has a little special mark to indicate they are jubilee dailies. and these count towards the QJ meta as well, iirc.

Lafiel, awesome stuff. i’ve yet to give it a shot with this. pretty excited to try though. the Guantlet definitely had some unforgiving fights for me so far (namely the achieves). appreciate all the time you put into these guides for, ha, “temporary” content. ; )) though it is confirmed, no? that the Gauntlet will return.

i’ve been trying to finish up all the other achieves before attempting Liadri. quick question – does Shelter, Focus block, etc block her AoE attack? i assume renewed focus will negate that damage.

my strategy below:

20/30/10/0/10
mainly berserkers gear but not full.
sword/shield main weaponset, i brought hammer along but never used it. hindsight, GS might be a decent choice for the pull (just have to preemptively bind them first) and the leap for extra mobility)

Utilities were Bane Signet (never used), Retreat and Judge’s Intervention.

I just melee-ed them and paid attention to when Struger threw the meat. Lucikly, he always threw them away enough so i could make it. a few fights he’d throw it right on top of Chomper or next to us (since i was melee-ing the m both at all times) and an NPC will definitely hit F before you can lolll.

i used Retreat for swiftness for first piece of meat. and then second piece of meat, used shield knockback. if Chomper gets far use sword 2 or judge’s to catch up. can also use Bane Signet when you see STruger’s meat throw animation to get a head start.

once i got 4, 5 meats, Chomper melted and then Struger was down to low health already due to cleaves and then finiahed him off easily.

well, i think it goes back to how we view events. are we in it for the loot? or are we in it for the story and satisfaction of completing an event? if the former, then it makes sense people are purposefully failing certain events. easy question – you want to fight one champ or 30 champs? i.e. 1 loot bag or 30 loot bags?

if the latter, then of course you want to complete events. though with the way the game is set up now, those who want the event to fail can just hang around the area, so the boss / champs are scaled up, lettign only one or two who want to finish the event to fight ’em out on their own. easier said then done.

the other day, i heard someone call a person who finished the events a griefer. :// it’s boudn to happen. there are always going to be people on .. i wont’ say 2, but maybe 3 sides or more. those who want to farm as much as possible. those who want to intentionally just get in the way of those who want to farm. and then there are those who just, well, just want to play the game as is. guess who misses out the most? :/// and not just speaking of rewards.

won’t say i aced this, but this is how i ended up doing it. if you aim for the achieve, meatless murderer, ie Chomper doesn’t get any meat, it makes the difference between light and day.

Gear:
Gear was DPS focused. Mainly berserkers with a few soldiers armor mixed in, and mainly zerker trinkets weapons.

Weapons
Sword/Shield mainset; secondary i brought hammer but never ended up using it. so up top you’ll see i had 20 in Zeal, mainly for Scepter Power, but then i realized immobilize didn’t do anything to Chomper so i just chanegd the trait and didn’t want to respec. the power is nice to have anyways. now in hindsight, i would recommend maybe Zealous Blade (Zeal VII) so once you get your meats (and in the process deny Chomper), you can burst them both down with GS. binding blades and GS 3 could be useful too, more on this below.

Utilities
Bane Signet, Retreat, Judge’s Intervention

General strategy
so get in a party, or invite someone offline to party and call target on Chomper so your attacks will always mainly focus on him. i would just melee both of them and keep them close together with sword auto, blind them when needed or use F3 cause Strugar will CC you. then most importantly KEEP AN EYE on when and where he throws the meat. and just do your best to get to the meat before Chomper does. if in doubt, feel free to use bane signet to knock him down. (i had planned to use hammer’s KB or KD, but i feel charge ups are too long). shield is here for this purpose as well, if you need to, insta knock him back, and hit cancel as soon as the knockback happens so you’re not rooted in the animation of shield 5. use retreat as well to have swiftness up for the first piece of meat – this made a huge difference for me, psychologically i think lolll.

if Chomper happens to get ahead of you, use sword 2 or judge’s intervention and then your shield knock back if you haven’t used it yet. obviously, all the while non stop attacking the both of them. and once i got 4 – 5 meats, i killed off Chomper easily, achievement popped, finish off Strugar and fight finish : ))

i imagine GS 3 helps as well for mobility as well as AoE dmg and you can pre-cast binding blade and then when Strugar throws the meat and CHomper runs off, pull ‘em back in then you can casually stroll to get the meat. NOTE: i haven’t tested this myself, but i assume pulls should still work.

hope this helps. and good luck!! in the beginning, whenever i missed one meat, the fight would just go dowhill, which is why i said try doing the meatless achieve. it helps the fight in general a LOT.

i’d say get rid of the metal wireframes even! takes away the immersion – if that’s what ANet was hoping for with spectators and queues. though, definitely loved this feature of being able to watch other people’s fights. can offer tips. learn a few things yourself, etc etc.

and surely wouldn’t mind if we were able to clearly see healthbars of both foe and challenger.

and sadly, lately i’ve been noticing a lot of trolling on Queensdale. people call events that are not up. for someone who’s new, they may not have a lot of gold to spare to WP around like that. and i don’t know which is worse, when people call out events or ask if there are events, people don’t link WPs or say stuff like “ever heard of wiki / google?” or say there is nothing going on (when there is), etc etc the list goes on.

and this, in addition to the massive farming, don’t help new players at all. well for the time being, what we can do is, i’ll say, is if you do happen to spot new players or who don’t seem like they know what they’re doing or are evident from map chat (if they’re not trolling themselves), take that extra step and give ’em a helping hand. show ’em around a bit and let them know not all maps in the game are like this.

and on that note, i do wish there was more incentive to hit up the mid-level maps so when new players get there, they won’t be empty either. all the goodies are at high level maps. but the low level maps are easy enough to complete from a time perspective. the middle, however, they’re stuck in limbo and the rewards don’t seem worth the investment.

the price on the rapier has fallen considerably though. whereas some of the other skins, which drop from Risen Champs have been able to somewhat sustain their high price tag at the moment. and i haven’t done enough testing, but low level areas, Champ bags aren’t guaranteed to be exotic? whereas if you’re at Frostgorge and up, chances are they’ll be exotic.

but agreed, most of the time, people will be hoping them make it to get in one hit on the champ. and i can iamgine now, that people won’t even make past the loading screen (with the increased lag with those) before some Champs drop.

fair enough. thus why i stated the anecdotal disclaimer. everyone’s mileage may vary obviously. but i’ve had enough experiences, same as those in my party at those times, who i’ve never met before, where having many Guards did trivialize a lot of the more riskier content in the game, for us to have that perception.

not saying it’s fact, but at least for me, more cases than not, that has been the case. ; ))

by your virtue, if we take into the players ability, understanding of mechanics game and class and encounter at hand, any class can be the “best” class, and any class can be the “worst” class.

Cursed Shore spawns way more champions. In a zerg they are only a little bit harder but they drop much better loop. I believe that in one or two weeks the level 80s farmers will all be there after they recognized that.

i actually want moer people to hit up Cursed Shore. will definitely be more lucrative. and i want gilded coffers. :///

hmm, i take back some of the things i said in my original post about you wanting others to play the way you want them too. my humblest apologies, OP.

in this case, just for reference, in frostgroge, people were doing Champs there as well and there was a zerg large enough that the Champs there, i forgot exact levels but let’s just say 78, were dropping in around 10s. so it’s not just Queensdale where you see this. but i guess the problem herein lies that Queensdale is a starters map, and its’ true, new players will miss out on getting to fight a Champ.

the good thing about Queensdale champs is though they offer events as well. whereas in the open world, not all Champs are counted as events. which is also why the Spider is Queensdale isn’t always bothered with. though now it’s a different story.

i think this will die down eventually though, OP and others who are concerned. then later, it will be the select dedicated few who have always been doing this and there’s no way to stop them. XDD

dood,e you should see the new crowds at Frostgorge AND Orr. i think there’s this one spot in Frostgorge that’s more efficient and lucrative than Queensdale. i usually only do Queensdale if i need Kryta kills or Group events/events. it’s a good thing they did. Queensdale train has been around for a while now, probably slightly exacerbated since the new loot introduced. but if i understand leveling correctly, and understand the Champ trains correctly, you will only really be missing out on the Champs in the zone. at least, i’ve rarely seen people farm other events (maybe the bandits morale oen they’ll do in between waiting for Champs).

now thinking back to how i leveled.. i did heart, i did SPs, i did exploration, vistas, and would try to hit up any event if it was around me. there is a ton to explore. if you’re planning to use Champs to level up, i personally, imho, don’t feel that’s the best way. might as well go craft and then go back and farm the Champs as an 80.

the longer a game has been out, the more people will fall into routine. like you said yourself, you’re too busy doing dungeons or fractals. queensdale champ runs are easy. people have fun in chat while waiting for champs to spawn. i don’t think it’s the best for a starter map though since there will be a lot of new players who choose human (WHY NOT NORN???) and may be overwhelmed, but i don’t think it’s called for to ask people to leave the area as well. you’re telling them off for how they want to play, so you can play how you want to play.

i’d reckon both are wanted if you’re talking dungeons in PvE. WvW they’re wanetd as well. i’ve spent most of my gw2 career as a Guardian and always will. have a lowbie Warriro who i plan to slowly level up, but will still be sticking with my Guard. from what i’ve seen my Warriro friends do, both can be great front-line melee and do different things but all very fun.

go make both and try ’em out to at lesat lvl 30+. 60 si when you can start getting into traits and really find a defining build for you. but even having been at 80 for long, i keep finetunign old builds, coming up with new ones for my Guard and rediscovernig my love for certain weapons and finding uses for other skills. extremely versatile and i neer feel pigeonholed into playing one role, or one build.

hmm, anecdotal evidence – if i’m forming up a PUG dungeon run, and i am running Guardian, i see two more Guardians joining up? we KNOW it’s going to be faceroll easy. and we just go huehuehue never die. EVEN if people aren’t specced for support, a lot of the Guardian’s abilities are by nature supportive. a lot of skills we do are defensive AND offensive at the same time. imagine if a dedicated player puts his heart into supporting, all the while doing consistent, sustained damage.

if we must compare…. if i join a group, and i see 3 warriors, i don’t think this is going to be faceroll. no one says anything actually.

not saying Warrior’s can’t run dungeons. not saying Guardian’s is easy mode. it does still depend on the player, obviously, but i think people’s reactions to that are testament to what the class can provide in small group content to a certain extent.

and this is just one instance where the Guardian can shine. again, not saying we’re the best at it, but we’re kitten GOOD at it without a doubt.

i’d imagine Subject 7 Ooze would be more suited for this no? i haven’t done it yet, but i’m planning to go with all gambits except for Crowd Favorite (extra opponent) and obviously Tremor (since it’s bugged? and would suck anyways).

i’m quite split between it becoming a symbol or not. i think i am an advocate for it, but i would really, really, really miss the fast hitting skill that it is now. also, like Tarsius mentioned, they’ll probs cut back on the damage dealt as well. if you ahve multiples in your symbol, then the damage overall mgiht be on par but versus single target, your DPS can potentially drop a few times.

DDDD: can’t decide. lol. i actually love it as is.

they could always get guildies in as well, and have certain guildies leave and give them a cut of whatever they receive as well.

woah grats! read your OP, and then was gonna ask and see if you did the Lightness in the Dark achievement.

so i guess the hardest thign for that achievement was not being able to get around fast enough to get 8 crystals (3 in P1, 5 in P2?) and THEN killing her. any other tips for the achievement?

seems like a trend here, not saying it’s the only way, but many Guards seem to be investing deep into Virtues line for this and being extremely successful. : ))

farming isn’t really all that bad imo, Arah alone nets you 10.5g all path excluding the dumb bags we get from the boss.

perhaps you can try this cycle: All Path AC ( 4.5g) – TA up & FF (2g) CoF 1&2 (2g) SE 1&3 (2g) HotW all (3g) and Arah All (10.5g)
every vets & champs drops better loot bags (although i can say thakittens not that great)
that gets you 24g a day (+ loots and a chance at a rare weapon skin drop? lol if you cant tell by now that i hate the loot bags) then end your day at higher level zones and cycle through the champs and vets that drops those dam bags and call it a day.(by then your night is over but thats what farming is all about right?)

if u get a nice skin drop though early on, you could have sold for a nice profit before the prices “tank” and stabilize. adds quite a hefty bit to your gold made. unless if you hate them for another reason lol

didn’t ANet say rewards would be given based on difficulty AND time spent?
so even if it’s easy, there’s still a lot of time spent there, which i figured would have yielded a higher reward. somethign like 2g. though, even then, is till wouldn’t run this path.

yea difficulty and time don’t really match up with the rewards we’re seeing right now. and it’s more or less all 1g, and then few paths in Arah which are 3g.

I run with the full whispers outfit, besides the shoulders, which are just emblazoned. Coat is a mix of red, blue, and gold, pants are a blood red, boots are brown, shoulders are red trimmed with gold, and the armguard on the right arm is goldish/brown. For daggers, I have a corrupted shard in my main-hand, and a dragon’s jade dagger in the offhand. Fashion OP.

i love the medium whispers outfit! and vanity is half the game for me. so i approve the elobrate answer! XDD looks balla, though sadly, i don’t think you were the RE thief i ran into. ; )) maybe another time!

and all we got from Kiel was that letter. and that’s it. though, the Queen’s Jubilee is huge, i guess. and this month’s update is only half here. we’ll wait and see i guess. it just seemed disconnected and anticlimatic.

yea, iirc, i have done about 12 balloon towers now, and almost every single time, there’s someone ahead of me and i’ve never gotten any loot from a single chest. Search “F” prompt shows up, but nothing happens.

Where can I find that cobalt greatsword?

people’ve reported you can get them from destroyer champs, ogre champs, and i myself got it just last night from a ghost champ, which dropped a gilded strongbox.

however, ogres don’t drop strongboxes, so there’s speculation that Cobalt is a “universal” exotic drop if you will. or at least, across a few different family / bag types, if not all.

actually just looked it up, Cobalt seems to drop from Guilded Strongboxes (Drstoyer, Ghost, Icrbooed), Embroidered Coin Purses (Pirate, Bandits), Fallen Adventurer’s Backpacks (beasts – spider, boar, skale, wurm, karka, etc), and Tribal Satchels (Grawl).
