not sure if this fits as getting a quick answer type question – from a numbers / stats perspective, which sigil would i benefit more from? for both hammer and greatsword – sigil of force or sigil of accuracy?

i love crits, but +5% dmg seems pretty decent too. which would do more DPS?

it should : )) i did it with my OoW Guard to get the hood for my non factioned engi. and it may still say “Soulbound” when it’s actually account bound. or i might be wrong and they fixed it and it does in fact say account bound. can’t be sure though but i can check ingame later tonight when i get home.

ahhh, engineer backpacks. if i undestand correctly, those backpacks are kits? so they’d be a skill rather than an item i think. afaik, the only visible back pieces in the game thus far are:

• Mad Memories book (from halloween event, non-flame and flame version)
• Guild back items which look like a backpack with the guild emblem
• and the new ascended back item i think – i really don’t know much about these though

i started with armoursmith and weaponsmith. both directly fight for the same mats so i leveled them up one by one. armoursmith was awesome cause i like building my own sets : )) and then weaponsmith as well to craft some exotic weapons.

also did jewel on the same craft because for some reason, i had leveled up to 50+ and didn’t want to start over :/// and needed this for my legendary as well.

will most likely try to get the other craft professions on my alts : ))

i think around 3k armour is pretty decent. some may say a minimum or even a starting point, though. i assume you’re using berserker trinkets then?

iirc, there is no helmet for P/V/T (aka Soldier’s) gear from the temple karma sets.

seconding what Sender said, the AC dungeon is not so bad at all once you know the paths and what to do. and the costs for each armour piece for the AC dungeon is lower than all other dungeons it seems (save helm, gloves and boots which are same cost across dungeons)

so i guess if you really didn’t want to do dungeons, you could get the rest of your armour from karma (42k each piece) and get the helm from AC (180 tokens).

you can actually do this. for e.g. my main Guardian is in Whispers. My Engi is only lvl 12 and hasn’t joined an order yet. I wanted the Whisper hood for him.

1) Purchase Order item with corresponding character
2) Transmutate “Soulbound” Order item onto a blue/white item —> which renders the item account bound; note that it may still say soulbound
3) Drop in bank
4) Pick up with character you want it for
5) Re-transmute desired stats onto desired Order item

:DDD it should work still. i just did this a couple weeks ago.

last time we fought Bkarl, he actually bugged out even more and was just running in spot, not moving. most of our team put on auto attack with conditions and went AFK. O___o came back 30 mins later and he was dead. haha sigh. we had a stubborn group! not as stubborn as DIVA’s though! 90mins!

i think Kholer is a fun boss regardless. not that hard, but not terribly boring. and decent rewards. most of the time i’ve gotten bags and even if not, it’s good enough for me. the central waypoint helps too : ))

@Jaz – had no idea about the melee weapon thing. so even if i, as a Guardian, was using scepter/staff in melee range, and everyone else was melee weps (sword, axe, dagger, etc), it’d still proc his pull / spin attack? and yes yes, scepter/staff aren’t really ranged weapons.. ; ))) lol

thanks for this guide! i’ve only done the fractals up to the monthly. i.e. first jade maw. and have gone back to map completion and original dungeons. but i would love to at least experience all the fractals once each.

just to follow-up and further clarify on the daily question – so for e.g. if i got up to say.. level 22. i could choose to go do level 12, finish the 3 fracs, take out jade maw, get chest and that counts as one daily, which has a chance to drop the ring?

and then.. i can leave instance, reenter at level 22, repeat and have another shot at the ring?

so on and so forth, the further i get. i.e. if i’m past 30+, i get three chances a day.

this is based on the assumption that.. after each “even” number level, you get to fight jade maw, which spawns the chest. and also that you are able to adjust your level each time you enter into the fracs, as long as you’ve passed that level at any given point in time.

the stat combo for berserker’s gear is:

• Power (major)
• Precision (minor)
• Crit dmg % (minor)

so do make sure you are going for the stats that you want, find out where you can get ’em from and then go from there ; )) that link above should show them all.

CoF is a rather easy dungeon to do, namely path 1 as well and shouldn’t take TOO long to get a full set of gear. but it will take a bit of time : ))

re: fractals, i’m no expert here as i’ve been rather impartial towards this new gear type.. but so far, there are only rings and back pieces. however, ANet has mentioned that they will gradually add full ascended gear. they have infusion slots with you can upgrade to resist against Agony – a new condition that mobs in the Fractals of the Mists dungeons can apply when in higher levels. the overall stats are better on ascended as well, but not to the point where it could be “game-breaking”, or that players shouldn’t feel it’s “required” to progress. but we’ll keep an eye on the whole thing to see how it pans out ; ))

ah, i further see what you mean. so was your team pretty much focus firing on the burrows? than i guess it might have been a special case where everyone in your group just didn’t have the appropriate DPS? that event is a slight check. i’ve only run path 3 a handful of times and may look to run it more.. first time i remember we just burned the burrows down, both collectors more or less untouched and barely had any stragglers leftover. the most recent run i did, we still cleared it, but we lost one collector and had to fight a good 15-20 seconds to clear the rest of the mobs at the second collector.

again, i wish i could see the build you’re planning to run but if you were only changing some traits that you think would help, i don’t see why not. i guess Guardians don’t burst as much as some other classes are capable of, but we can have pretty high sustained dmg over time : )))

thanks for the share @JackBurton! : ))) i’lll be giving this a shot soon as well. i was thinking of placing a sigil of blood on my greatsword (also Knight) and seeing how it works out. keeping my hammer as berserkers and accuracy for now ; ))

it definitely helps if your server is winning by a landslide for WvW. i thought that was going to be the hardest bit, bu ti got extremely lucky. seems like it’s just WvW for you then. have you since checked how much from each map you’re missing?

again, to clarify, as far as my understanding is.. 100% map completion is independent from the Explorer Titles. i will be able to field test this as i am sitting at 99% for map completion, and have a few areas here and there missing from exploration.. i do plan to get these done as well, which i fear will be slightly tough, just because you don’t have counts such as the hearts or waypoints, etc for 100% map completion.

@Hycinthus – if you mean story mode dungeons, i believe they don’t count either. i have only done 2 story mode dungeons and am nearing 100% map completion. i’ve counted the PoI and Skillppints i’m missing on Malchor’s Leap map and they match up with the total number of thingys i’m missing. : ))

and if you meant your personal story, i remember reading a thread stating that there would be no points that required you to complete your personal story to achieve and can do it through regular play and exploration.

they SHOULD be fixing it. at least in the case of legendaries. as many have mentioned, the item becomes the rarity of the item that you’re taking the stats from. as they skin is well, just the appearance of any given item.

but it does make sense for a legendary that you’ve taken the time and resources to create it, you should still be able to retain the “status”, even if you wanted different stats. the main reason being.. the stats were the same and not any better than another. but at the same time, when i get my legendary i don’t think i’m even going to change the sigil.. just to keep it as it was meant to be. it’s weird but yes.

good luck with this though! and do bring it to the attention of ANet. and see what they’re plans are going to be.

@Helequin – ahh, gotcha. and very true and i see what you’re saying. ultimately, this game is supposed to allow us users to create any build and play any way we want to. although the more you develop your character, it certainly feels the more you are “locked” into certain trait lines that just seem innately better than the rest. case in point, very few Guardian i know use the Zeal line.

Altruistic Healing definitely benefits from shouts. though i know many who don’t use shouts and can still benefit from AH. perhaps not as effectively, but in no way does it diminish how you play. for e.g. with the hammer, i am constantly laying down protection symbols, plus AoE retaliation with #1 and #2 skill and that usually gets me through most. and then the might on crits is constant as well. in urgent cases, do i use my shouts. and then staff empower itself is a pretty decent burst heal.

but yes, it seems crit is more focused on. and i might be biased, cause i am a sucker for crits ::ppp i like seeing big numbers haha.

as mentioned, i haven’t realyl played with meditations or consecrations as much as i should have.. but i know some who love using these. in the valor line, a lot prefer monk’s focus over AH, which makes sense if you want to go for a meditation build. and of course, the 20% cd reducton on medi’s.

alternatively, in the virtues line – which is extremely strong in itself and the boon duration is pretty powerful in my books – you get consecration buffing skills. ground targeting consecration is awesome.

i guess it might be hard to try to get both going strong tough. i just took a look at the AoE trait for VoJ and it does seem slightly lackluster. :/// and to be honest, for Guardians, apart from range, people initially did comment that we pretty much didn’t have any condition dmg. only one we had was burning, which stacks in duration so depending on who else is around, your dmg might be cancelled out anyways so stacking cond dmg didn’t do much.

with 30 into valor though, you do get a lot of survibaility there already though and then you can mix and match wit your gear to make up for what’s missing. i’ve heard wonders about smite condition. and i’m personally a fan of purging flames and use it whenever i need condition removal and good for self stacking might.

i can’t open that video, since i’m at work right now. but i’ve seen a vid too of path 1 after the patch that “broke” it again and what they did was after DPS-ing down the first boss, you have to run pass the second boss and fight him in the doorway. ot sure if that was a problem, because it seems that the mobs still aggro on you and still spawn if you remain on the main platform that the second boss is first seen on.

i’ve tried this with a PUG as well, but we didn’t have enough DPS to bring down the first boss even.

i’m willign to try this if anyone is though! need some more SE tokens ; )))

are there others who find this actually the easiest path in AC? not sure why. i guess it’s a bit longer because it’s timed. but the events / things you have to do is super easy. : ))

i’m a Guardian as well and i run usually hammer/staff and sometimes GS/staff. in terms of build, i’m not specced for max dmg as a Guardian can and still get through the burrows relatively quickly. i run a 0/5/30/30/5 survivability focused build, and constantly buffing my allies. sustained high dmg though so it’s pretty good. altruistic healing is one of the bases, and then i go for high crit. so you see a lot of red numbers : )) and on crits, i give might to my allies so that helps a bit with dps as well.

i don’t like changing my build around too much and i’ve found this build gets me through AC easily and more than able to handle the harder dungeons or taking on various mobs in Orr while going solo, even in full MF gear. not sure if this is what you’re looking for. but i find in this game, it’s more beneficial to go “middle of the road” , as Maximillian mentioned. straight DPS might be faster for the burrow event, but if you accidentally get caught in the howling kings fallign rocks, it could be over in like.. not even half a second. dungeon i’ve always felt was more about survivability. and onto the next point.

though i think more importantly, you just play the way you best play your character and just communicate to the group. : )) true, sometimes you might pick up someone new, or low level.. ran with a lvl 45 as the last spot for our PUG and they mighta been slightly squishy, but they knew what they were doing so we still did more than fine. and level 80’s don’t automatically mean they’re experienced either. heck, i didn’t go into dungeons until i was lvl 80 for 2 weeks! key was i let people know it was my first time, and they were kind and patient enough to lead me through. and now i can help lead others. one thing we can do for the community i feel is keep helping others. i know we all want to rush to content.. but say, if we keep helping new players, and they keep passing that on… eventually, in an ideal world, we wouldn’t ever have to worry about pugs, because everyone would know what they were doing. so to speak. everyone wins in the end. : ))) again, in an ideal world.. but that shouldn’t stop us from helping others. so the off chance that you do PUG with someone again, they’ll know what to do! because you showed them the ropes last time.

wow, that’s pretty weird you got a non-greatsword when throwing 4 in… i’ve tried the forge a few times and have gotten always the same item type at least.. :///

i’ve heard that swapping the sigil out shouldn’t affect legendary status.
the name might change? am not entirely sure though. am working towards mine slowly right now..

part of me doesn’t wanan change anything to keep it as is – in it’s original, legendary form. but i am leaning towards switchingn out a sigil as well just because it makes more sense, practical wise. :ppp

if it helps some people, and doesn’t hurt others.. i hope. ; )) it’s kinda like wearing your lucky underwear on a big day. i’m personally going for the 1x recipe now and slowly amassing my shards and other mats.

quick and silly question, since i haven’t used the forge much. so say i have stacks of each item. and i just double click / drag them into the mystic forge. usually the entire stack goes into the 4 slots. if the recipe, for the 1x recipe for e.g. only uses up 1 of each and 6 stones… when i hit forge, it’ll take exactly that amount right?

in other words, i don’t have to separate the amounts manually using Alt + drag, etc?

if you plan to craft, you may want to salvage high level whites as well for chances at rare mats. i usually salvage light and heavy whites. not so much medium/leather whites though. i just TP those as well.

exotics it depends, i do this on a case by case basis. if it sells for a lot – some go up to a few gold each, then i’ll most likely sell it. if the rune / sigil will sell for a lot, then i might salvage it for a chance at some ectos.

i’m going for a legendary as well, so if i find a rare or exotic of the weapon i’m going for, i’ll save those up and try my chances at the mystic forge. although, i’ve only gotten one so far, so the chances for this isn’t that high either : ))

ahh, good point re: newcomers mentioning to the party that it’s their first time or they’ve done it before but don’t know it well. i always did that when i first started and wasl lucky enough to have patient party members again. if not, worse case is i don’t get to do that dungeon run with people i didn’t know to begin with.

so communication is key – not just in terms of how to approach a battle, but in regards to everyone’s experience if needed, as well as what they plan to skip, how to do so and what mobs they’re going to take down regardless.

if only we could all start on the same page. ; )))

it might be helpful if you provided the xx/301 hearts, xx/507 WPs, xx/717 PoIs. etc for people to see. that will give a better idea in terms of what might be missing. : ))

Just to clarify, here are the things that do count towards 100% map completion:

• WvW (no hearts and WPs are automatic)
• all explorable maps (no hearts in Orr)
• all 5 home cities (no hearts or SP)
• Chantry of Secrets – Whispers headquarters

Things that do NOT count towards 100% map:

• dungeons
• PvP areas / Heart of the Mists
• Explorer titles / discovering areas
• jumping puzzles
• new area – Southsun Cove

hmm… ran this off top my head, so pls pls do correct me if i am wrong! and i will edit :pp haha at work now and waiting to get off to go home.

though from the percentage, it seems you’re missing almost a full map or even more from my experience.. again, having the exact numbers of whats missing from each category would shed more light on your dilemma. ; )))

@omerk – did you use the boulders?D i was on boulder duty the entire time lol. when we did it, we had two bouldering Vassar (sp?), while the other 3 kept the other one occupied. we did wipe once and eventually got it the second time.

@lavra – blindstomping, do you mean you blind them before you stomp so they can’t interupt you? i’ve started doing this instinctively, but not sure if blinding worked against their downed skills.

i personally only play a Guardian myself.. though from my experience in WvW and dungeons (don’t do much PvP), i gladly welcome any of these 3 classes! i find the Guardian to be very strong and versatile in dungeons. and after a bit of practice, i love being a Guard in WvW as well.

• mesmers i love having in my group for either WvW or dungeons. very fun class it seems and lot of great skills that really enhance group play! can be both supportive and deal a lot of dmg. illusions are great for keeping enemies occupied, whether mobs or real players

• dungeons strictly, i like the Guardian. highly survivable, with sustained dmg output. decent control as well when needed.

• WvW, i love runnin with thieves for mobility and high burst damage. and if you didn’t get ’em down on the first go, you have plenty of evades / stealthy tricks to get away. they also help stealth me when i need the extra second or two to heal up. ; ))

hmm. lol, hope this helps. this is from a third person perspective i guess. am sure more people who are more knowledgeable can help better answer.

i usually run with my guildies and most of the time we’ll take on everything, unless if they are SUPER annoying. but even then, i don’t mind.

recently though, i’ve been running with more PUGs. AC in specific and i do voice out. right before Kohler i’ll ask if we’re taking the LT. some people have voiced out “we should!”, another time “let’s skip him, he’s not worth it” and others just run up aand start fighting him without replying lol. in most cases, lucky enough to have my group eb pretty easy-going and most didn’t mind as long as one voiced their thoughts, we just followed. not saying i don’t have an opinion, but i really don’t mind. gives me a good mix as sometimes we do fight, sometimes we sneak past, and when we’re lucky as bait the troll against the Lt. and we watch them rip each other apart.

i personally think Kohler is a fun fight. and i experiment with blinds, blocks, LoS, dodges or even reflection for his pull. but some choose not to and if there is less disagreement, it in general makes the rest of the run go a lot smoother.

i think if really depends on if the group is trying to do a speed run or just enjoy the dungeon for what it is. so easiest way to approach this i feel is to just make it a point at the very start. maybe even before you enter the dungeon. so if people want to skip, they know you’re not going to, so they can either choose to stay or leave.

one thing people should do is if they DO tend to skip a lot, let people knwo ahead of time. ESPECIALLY if you know someone’s new in the group! because by the time the first/second-timer or someone who always fights suddenly sees everyone jetting, they are already reacting a second too late, which using AC as an example can be guaranteed down / death if they’re running head first into two scavengers leap attack. sure, we should all have situational awareness, but yea. haha fresh in my mind because it happened to someone the other day when running AC. and then the person who skipped ahead went sigh. and didn’t even bother coming back to help or res. it just makes it worse for themselves. if they’re going for a speed run, let people know so you can at least agree on terms and have things work out, instead of letting / watching people die and then you end up wasting your own precious time.

hmm to be fair, i do only craft to transmutate the stats to a skin that i so desire. but that’s a large portion of this game, getting the stats from one place, and then transmuting to another skin.

i didn’t mind crafting so much, but i kind of did speed crafting rather. more or less in one-two goes. not very profitable but i’m okay with that. i like being able to craft my own stuff. for weaponsmith, i also got some destroyer weapons, as well as corrupted weapons which i crafted for myself too : ))

some people have gotten a pre-cursor within their first 5 tries. and some have dumped 100’s and 100’s of gold and gotten nothing. so highly, highly, “randomized”.

there should be new ways of acquiring the pre-cursor – via a scavenger hunt but no further details on that nor when it will be implemented.

best bet right now is keep farming for your other materials and save up as much gold as you can and don’t buy to throw into the mystic forge. this way, if you DO need to end up buying the pre-cursor, you’ll have decent amount of gold from farming the other mats hopefully. at the same time, if you happen to come across 4 rare or 4 exotics staves through drops, then i wouldn’t mind testing my luck. but to get 4 rare/exotic staves would take a long time too and largely up to chance.

just another small piece of advice, for your karma. i would suggest going for the mystic clovers first via the mystic forge, so after you get the 77, you’ll know exactly how much you need for the 250 obsidian shards : ))

(also note, you can also get 1 obsi shard for 15 fractal relics if you prefer the fractals)

@Lithepanter / Jia Shen – Lithe is right. they did release official statement saying it doesn’t work on chests. i think one of the reasons was they didn’t want people switching to MF gear just for the chests.

hey Helequin! i only play a Guardian so hopefully i can help shed some light : ))) what about the traits turn you off? though i can sort of guess. lol.

a largely popular build now for the Guardian is 30 in Valor. with variations such as:
0/10/30/30/0, 0/5/30/30/5 (what i am playing currently), 0/15/30/20/0, 0/0/30/30/10

these builds mainly play off the Grandmaster trait in the Valor line – Altruistic Healing. essentially, this setup works off of healing via boon application to yourself and allies. at level 80, each boon placed will heal you for 72. might not seem a lot, but with the constant application that Guardians are capable of, it can get pretty crazy. for e.g. the staff – #4 Empower. places 12 stacks of might. if you hit all allies and yourself (up to 5 total), that’s 5×12×72 = 4k+ heal right there. so this hugely adds to your survivability.

and i run full Knight’s gear for the toughness and precision. Guardians have the lowest health pool in the game, but we have a lot of mitigation. so the toughness realy increases your effective health pool. healing becomes relatively more effective as well as a result. and the build, depending on which route you go for, can further synergize with crits, thus the high precision that we want. and who doesn’t like crits? ; ))) another e.g. if you choose empowering might in the Honor line, you apply might when you crit, thus giving more healing as well as higher dmg output.

the 3 minor traits in the honor line – you AoE heal at the end of your dodge rolls – so i usually dodge towards my allies if i can and if needed. vigorous precision gives me vigor when i crit so i gain more endurance, while also applying another boon to myself. then the last minor trait where you do more dmg at lower levels of endurance. so a lot of things working together in this build : ))

i personally play with the hammer, and the #1 chain drops a protection symbol, and then you can self-trigger-combo with #2 immediately after, giving AoE retaliation, even more boons = more healing.

it’s a pretty fun set up and doesn’t lock you into “you must use only this type of gear and only these traits with these runes!” because you can customize it to your own liking and playstyle. definitely very versatile, as well as highly survivable and adds quite a bit to the group – i like to believe at least. : )) one thing is, you don’t get a whole lot of burst damage, but rather, sustained dmg and being able to keep dishing out DPS while you stay alive.

i myself run a shout build, for the added benefits of the boon application. and i use 6x Superior Soldier runes so each shout removes a condition on allies as well so that’s always useful.

though some consecrations and meditations are extremely useful and fun to play with!! especially if you trait for them. i wish i knew about ceonsecration / medi builds but i’m having too much fun currently. ground targeting consecrations are definitely extremely viable.

in regards to the scepter, it’s very good single target DPS actually if traited for it : )))
the staff is extremely fun as well. and i love using it running around. staff #3 + Retreat + Save Yourselves gives pretty good swiftness uptime. staff #1 is good AoE. #5 is fun to use to stop enemies from advancing, place it in front of you to stop enemies from chasing, or to use it to hold a choke point. (do note, you do have to standstill to cast it and any movement will cancel it : (( )

i can go on forever as well. and wish i could tell you more about consecrations and meditations. wall of reflection is one of my best friends! in dungeons and WvW. purging flames always good to use for condition removal and easy might stacks (hammer #2 blast finisher or focus #5 as well), judge’s intervention is just pure fun. huge gap closer, use it in tandem with other moves, or you can even target bunnies and such while running around to get places faster lol. poor bunnies.

as you can tell, i can keep going on and on as well and this is just partially one build. do let me know if there are any specific questions you have and i can try to answer them not using a wall of text. :ppp

p.s. just a little personal preference, i never have qualms with being in a group with a banner Warrior ; ))

Orr isn’t as bad as people make it sound. but the Putrifiers (?) can get pretty annoying because of their pulls. and just.. really dense mobs. it is more than soloable, but definitely helpful and less stressful to have a small party running together lol

@Aeleniel / Kaii – that’s good! : )) and definitely a good idea to have a list of some sorts. the best we have right now is to read through all 14 pages and note where everyone’s from lol. there is a website being put in the works, so when that rolls out, it’ll be easier to see. either way though, Aelenial, once you’re in the guild, you can see which world everyone is from, talk to peeps and am sure any of our servers would more than welcome you if you do plan to move! : )))

hey Kaii when i run CM, hehe, WoR is definitely my top choice utility! what with all the ranged and as a few have mentioned, it acts as a light field as well. if not, what Ojimaru mentioned, switched to greatsword and you have another condition removal option.

just to add – i personally run with superior soldier rune x6, so everyone time i shout, conditions on myself + allies are removed if they’re in range as well so this adds to our arsenal of condition removal too.

just to add a few things from my own experiences and thoughts, without repeating what’s already been touched on : )))

- What are the Guardian’s worst/best weapon combos?

- What are they weak/strong against?

weapon choice really depends on what type of playstyle you like. i am personally almost always all 2-handed weapons:

• Hammer – pretty decent control if you mix it up with #3, #4 and even #5. #5 works well against mobs or even PvP if they don’t have stability, not just to trap, but you can even drop it if you see an enemy running towards and just watch them run into it and topple over. #1 chain is pretty powerful with added protection and #2 to self combo. offers great PBAoE
• Greatsword – pretty darn good DPS and feels fast. seems you’re more familiar with this? : )) #5 is what keeps me coming back. #5 —> new #4 —> #2 is what i like openign with for a bunch of mobs. or even in WvW to really mow down some invader’s health fast.
• and Staff – great for traveling, #4 and #5 are great skills as well. #4 with altruistic healing can give you up to (72*12*5) = 4k+ heals at level 80 and given you hit all 5 allies (yourself included) with full 12 stacks of might; staff #1 spam is great for tagging mobs, which i’ll touch on later re: farming, as well as if you’r ein WvW and defending a gate. the other day, i got up to 10 kills just spamming #1 behind a gate. boring perhaps, but effective.
• the rest – although i do have a fondness for the scepter. which i pair up with a shield or focus, depending. the scepter can built to be very strong against single target. the mace and shield/focus combo is extremely survivable. sword provides mobility and also good against single target, but i haven’t used it much since early levels. the torch as well. it’s fun to breathe fire and can add some ranged DPS but i haven’t touched this in a while too.

- Is there a website or forum where I can check out strong builds with information?

• there is the sticky thread, Hammer and Altruistic Healing gameplay thread you can check out. works great with the GS as well. and you can tinker it to your own liking.
• there are quite a few build threads on www.gw2guru.com in the Guardian seb-forum that you can check out as well. one idea is you can test it in open PvE or like some like to do, test diff builds out in the Heart of the Mists

- Like the question above, is there armor sets I should aim for first to maximize performance?

• again, depends how you want to play. if you’re looking for a starting point, all knight’s gear, paired with Soldier’s (pow/vit/tou) chest and pants offer great survivability, along with enough crit to do decent dmg. can go knight’s jewelry as well for even more toughness. or switch out for berserker’s if you want more dmg. many like to mix and match as well.
• personally i feel condition dmg or healing doesn’t add too much for the Guardian. others may beg to differ, however
• runes – a whole lot of chocies! and can be really fun : )) maybe if you share how you want to play your Guardian, people can help offer more advice

- I hear about Karma farming, was there anything I should note that’s optimal for Guardians?

• as Ojimaru mentioned, Orr is pretty barren now. depending on your server and the time you’re on.. i used to just spam staff #1, 2 and 3 for tagging mobs and contribute a sufficient amount to get karma/loot as long as you’re there for the majority of the time.. however, now with the lower population, i just use my hammer or greatsword to play “normally”, as you don’t have to “fight” to tag mobs nowadays..

:DDD just dropping in with some love for the Guardian. to be fair, i’m not proficient in any other class, but i am having way too much fun. love the way my character has fleshed out and really enjoy dishing out sustained damage over time, surviving, while supporting my teammates as best i can.

personally i activate it whenever it’s up. i only have 5 in radiance so no refresh on kills (which in PvE is awesome, pretty much perma blind + burning + might) if mobs die fast enough), but i usually pop ir right before going engaging so i get the blind, as well as burning on them to maximise if you will

it’s also by Brutaly and more fleshed out : )) provides great insight as well but you’ve pretty much got it worked out as well.

glad to know i’m not the only one who gets supposedly “hard-to-get” gear (63k karma, dungeon gear, etc) and transmutate other stats onto them lol

i use 6x Superior Soldier runes for the extra vit as i use all knight’s trinkets. the shouts remove one condition for allies (self) works wonders in dungeons and WvW

this is a known bug i believe. i think the dagger is the only one that has this issue. i.e. all other mystic weapons have the correct blue color scheme.

not sure if there’s a fix that has been mentioend but i think this has been around since day one. :///

hmm as in, you can’t drag the dark armour set into the transmutationg window?

the only “issue” i’ve ever heard with transmutation was that you can’t do it to the items while you have them equipped. but iirc, i read somewhere that they fixed that in the latest patch.

have you tried with other dark pieces or only a certain piece (i.e. helmet, gloves, etc)?i’ve recently transmutated dark helm, chest as well to my exotics recently..

@Death – which server are you again? a lot of the temple events are “bugged” in Orr, so mainly the level 80 zone. but not to the point that you won’t be able to map complete. the only thing is, these maps have become increasingly barren.. (curse you fraactals!! grrr lol) and certain Skillpoints are harder to get to, sinc eyou need to sit there and commune. bring a party member or two and should make your job lot easier. grats and hope you get there soon!D i love the first three areas you’ve listed there : ))

@Nels – ahh.. that’s interesting. as mentioned, i’ve always heard it was global. at the same time, i’ve never switched servers before either. now that you mention it, perhaps there is a difference between EU and NA TP’s? have you ever checked what currencies are available to purchase the gems on the store with are? that might be some indication as well.

and yes, in large quantities, you can probs make some good money if you happen to catch on some fast moving low tier mats.

for each legendary in addition to map complete, you’ll need 500 Badges of Honor from WvW, lvl 400 armoursmith and weaponsmith to craft the gifts, a bunch of skillpoints, a bunch of mystic coins and approximately 1,000,000+ karma and a whole lot of luck.

for the Moot specifically, you’ll also need 500 Caudecus Manor dungeon tokens, as well as boxes of fun apparently. just check the individual links of the gifts to see what you need exactly on the wiki page. : )))

@DEK – i’m slowly grinding my way towards a legendary. lol. ‘tis the long process! but it will awesome when i finally do get it. haha and ascended.. we’ll see how that goes. the fractals can be fun though but more focused on getting my dungeon exotics first hehe. i had to spend gold to get fine transmutation stones : (( but my vanity >> in-game wealth lol so i splurged a bit. somehow, my wife got close to 20 from chests!! O____o
