This Change has Totally F……. My game up , With these new Dailys . I dont do pvp wvw
so now I have no reason to log on anymore until this has been changed .

I know nonone will agree with my views , but this is how i feel , and i was compelled to write in these forums , something i really dont enjoy .

I dont like it either, I cant see why taking away the PVE options was considered a good idea. If they would just give back more than (is it 3?) options I would be fine with it.

It’s the typical ArenaNet approach to game design, one step forward and 2 steps back. I’m more impressed than anything that they manage to accomplish it patch after patch. This approach of course always divides the community since some like the one step forward and others hate the 2 steps back. In this case here some like that the new dailies are more rewarding and less time consuming for AP(1 step forward) and others hate that their is less variety, forces them to do things that are out of the way, and development time was wasted on a system that was fine before and the time before that(two steps back). I can’t think of a single change to the game that the vast majority of players were pleased with, I think that’s more telling of what ArenaNet has become than anything else.

You can’t think of one change to the game that the vast majority of the playerbase was pleased with?

I assume you’re not counting the account wallet, the wardrobe, hell even the Silverwastes. Or account wide WXP, the new PvP reward tracks, the living story update with Glint’s Lair.

And that’s without even thinking deeply about it.

Most of the things you mentioned Anet didnt think of themselves? Sound to me like community requested changes.

Indeed so much fail, I kinda expected the whole city being one bg happy x-mass town. instead that tiny boring portion of it was altered. I understand that it’s a big change to do the whole city, but that is what smart designers/devs are for arent they.

The change is great. I completely approve. And it’s almost too easy now. Just the day before, I was short on time and barely managed to do 5 of my dailys in about half an hour.

With the new system, I did all 3 pve tasks under 10 minutes (wurm, gatherer, forge) and 2 pvp tasks in 1 pvp game. And I allready got 10 AP for the 3 pve tasks that took 10 minutes, while the day before it took me 3 times as long, for 5 AP (and crappier rewards).

How is this worse?

.

Let me see, if you miss the wurm you have to wait .an hour? I dont know long time ago I did that wurm. But if you are right on time, easy peasy I agree.
I do not do pvp, and I will never start doing it because I think it sux. I Dont do WvW anymore because there is hardly anyone there.
So how again is this better for me, and of course I am talking about my personal experience.

Giving up on Living story, or make the whole team work on it for gems/money.
I’d like to believe that like in gw1 living story(cant remember what it was called) that a small team is working on that and the rest is working on another game or the expansion/stand alone next part.

Anet seems so scared of dropped loot its insane. The result of more than 7k champ bags is pathetic to say the least.

I dont see whats wrong with it, what did you expect?

I ma actually quite surprised at the average value of 15s he mentioned per bag. At the rate of champ bags dropping in SW, you can make a very decent profit per hour, considering you also get lots of bags of (rare) gear and other loot.

What do I expect from an mmo game to drop? Well to take it’s predecessor you could actually get the best looking weapons to drop in the game…,omg yes without the insane path of crafting you could get all the weapons you wanted by doing exactly what you like. Kill stuff.

INstead of oh let me go to that node for the 10000th time, oh and chop some wood on the way.

Oh see, that’s your issue right there … you set your expectations to something that doesn’t match the games approach to how it rewards players with loot. It’s really unbelievable that after 2+ years, players still complain about how loot ’doesn’t drop’.

As for the data … I noticed a large inbalance between cloth, ore and leather. Must be intentional. That’s statistically significant.

It should match the game’s approach. The current way is working kitten, the old one was working perfectly. It’s called critisism, instead of going with the flow.

I get such a laugh out of the anti-mount people. The amount of energy used to twist logic to use against mounts is mind boggling. Some players really want mounts, end of story. The issue should be simply choice. If a player wants a mount so they can traverse Tyria’s vast open world, great. If someone doesn’t want a mount and uses the way points, great. It’s ALL good if it keeps players entertained and invested in the game. Telling either side they are wrong and can’t have does nothing but lessen someones experience of the game.

The word for every anti-mount person to learn is tolerance. This isn’t YOUR game alone.

Its such a waste not to implement this and it shows a lack of vision, imagination and ability.

No it doesnt. Copying other mmo’s sounds more like a lack of vision.

Why did you decide that mounts is copying of other mmo? In reality people also used the mounts. By your logic all mmo – plagiarism of reality? And even if we assume that the implementation of the idea of mounts is copying – then what prevents to implement it so that it will be not like in other MMOs?
See? Lack of vision.

Dont come with BS explanations please. People want mounts because they have in in their old MMO and/or RPG.

Your argumentation is incoherent. So, every RPG is copying other RPG be cause they have a horse to ride. This means every (MMO-)RPG is copying Zelda or Elder Scrolls (or what game ever ‘introduced’ an animal to ride).

It’s as if you would argue that wielding a sword is copying another game, be cause it is in a lot of other games… think about it! It is pretty natural that in games with vast worlds you have the ability to ride a horse or whatever. The ridiculous arguments of the anti-mount-faction – if they bring up any – are lackluster, incoherent and illegitimate. The only argument I see they are right is that it costs resources that may be used somewhere else.

Some weird people in the pro mount group. You might aswell bring colours or pixels as an example of copying other games.

Safe Passage in WvW Areas

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: aspirine.6852

aspirine.6852

TBH, the only way to reasonably do it without just removing WvW from exploration requirement entirely, and actually should be done just for the sake of education, is to make “Learner” maps, where you are either invincible or instanced, give you access to everything in there, which lets you explore the map, and then remove “Live” WvW maps from the requirement.

This aids in two ways. First, people would get to get their exploration without having to do something they don’t want to do, and people who are on small servers don’t find it ludicrously difficult to get completion because they don’t have a server that can cap things.

Second, it gives a place for people who are new to WvW to explore keeps and towers and figure out the layout of each, where is defensible, where is attackable, etc, without the constant threat of being attacked at any point or wasting their server’s supply/siege by putting something in a bad place.

To help with the second, a “Training Siege” item could be added, for free from vendors in the training maps, where you can put out a siege site that requires no supply, so you can test things like just how far a catapult can reach, or the areas you can hit with an arrow cart, or whatever. That siege would obviously do 0 damage, so you couldn’t take it to live maps.

Myself and many others have managed world completion without “safe passage”, ANet doesn’t need to breast-feed you just because you can’t keep up with WvW.

Did you do it on a server so dead in WvW that it’s a struggle to even get a handful of people in against servers that can just blob you if you try to take something that you need for world completion? Your vitriol would be a bit more substantial if every server was equal in population and representation.

Yes I did my completion on EU FoW when we were second to last. It’s really not that hard, at the time I didnt even play WvW. So you die a couple of times.
Now I have to mention that Vabbi players are pretty nice players, I did not get ganked I did not get demolished by a 300+ rank thief or things like that.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: aspirine.6852

aspirine.6852

Yes, the likelihood of an expansion in the works is low.
I would also like to add, regarding 350+ employee count that people like to hang on to, consider the perspective of this person’s company:

300-400 people working for the company is NOT that much, period. Our company is hovering around 350 people and we STILL don’t have enough developers, engineers, admins, and architects to take care of the infrastructure.

We have significantly more personnel on the non-technical and customer service side of the company that on the technical side as management feels that Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service make the money that keeps the business running, not the technical side that we rely on so heavily.

Also, we’ve seen or are going to see the “big projects”:
The living story which released a few maps and reworked a few maps (Edge of the mist map took nearly a year to make, so extrapolate from that).
Trading post revamp which took nearly two years.
The backend is completely rewritten for the upcoming PvP changes.

A company that large not making something new is pure suicide. Of course they are working on something big. And what is the most logical next big thing? Taking a gamble and create a new game or creating an expansion for an existing one?

What makes a Guild Wars game GREAT?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

aspirine.6852

Ah the good old rose-tinted glasses seems to sell well these days.

People tend to complain about how much you need to grind in Guild Wars 2, and yet they complete disregard the massive amounts of grind needed for quite some stuff in Guild Wars 1.
Such as almost everything on this list.

Obsidian Armor is probably one of the most grindy things to get in any western game. DoA (Domain of Anguish) also required not only completion of the story mode, but also spending time grinding titles in order to get more or less required skills and a required title which protected against the enemies there.

As for the whole “huge chunk of added content every 6 months” that only ever happened ONCE during the time of the game. Between Faction and Nightfall. Between Prophecies and Factions it was almost exactly a year.
Between Nightfall and Eye of the North was little less than a year.

None of the things you mentioned felt like a grind to me. Titles were done so fast with vanquishing or even dungeons I can even imagine calling this a grind.
Got all my obbies without grinding in FoW, just bought all the things needed for the armour.
DoA, even before I got there my lightbringer was maxed. I fail to see the grind in the things you mentioned.
The only grinds I can remember is the zaishen and pvp titles.

You will always find people that dont want to evolve. You ask for mount they answer with (this is not wow gtfo blablabla). This is why a lot of people leave gw2 and why the game feel some empty. Anet should copy wow instead of not. Mount, dueling etc etc is content that should be in the game since day 1.Wow is so popular because of the fact they have everything you can ask in a mmo.

They have a lot of pvp content, pve content and all the little feature like mount etc.
But i still prefer the gameplay of gw2 thats why i stay but the day anet open their eyes and begin to implant better feature the game will finally feel like a real mmo

Copying wow is about the worst thing Anet could ever do. Copying GW1 is more like it.
