I dont care for nerfing this or that class, but in general this kind of burst in my opinion (for every and any class) is just bad pvp mechanics.
elementalist is pretty fun indeed, Im not the “mage” kinda of guy and usually just play warrior/rogue like characters in mmos.
But anet made a great class out of the ele.
the best part is when you realize ranked aren’t actually ranked, but are unranked ranked.
When you reach first place on the scoreboard in spvp matches.
That’s how you know you are a good player.
- You see someone capping a point alone? Join him up. You NEED those extra points.
- You see an enemy on the ground that is about 0,5 seconds away to be stomped?
Waste all your Cooldowns to reach him just in time to land that autoattack that’s gonna secure you those +5 points. Then write in chat #WORTH
- Are you in Nifhel? Be sure to kill the mobs when nobody is around. You are gonna get those sweet +25 points and be way ahead your teammates! But be swift about it! Or you are gonna miss those 2-3 man decapping/capping points.
That’s what pro players like me do.
well since it’s world completion, you dont need any kind of survivability.
So just go HAM with Fire/air/arcane, for that sweet might stacking ,dmg, and Perma swiftness

for perma swiftness while travelling spam UPDRAFT and any AURAS (water and air), while swapping in and out of Air attunement as fast as u can.
This is pretty pretty spammy tho.
If u are lazy you can just live with the 25% movement speed from the air trait line or the Signet.

yeah if you get to 80 your guardian, you can start putting away Dungeons tokens, money and what else to spend on your revenant to equip him faster.
If u do sPvP on it, you might even collect the Tomes that gives 1 level per use. To “powerlevel” your revenant, if that’s what you want.
Also you can start crafting your ASCENDED items, which are Account bound and not character bound.

Also, warrior should be higher than engi, necro, ranger (and probably guardian). The power gs/hammer build on warriors is strong and while rampage is up just as broken as mesmers.
It should, but that’s one of the classes the op plays, it seems.
Stop using marauders/berzerkers amulet and you won’t blow up in 0.5 seconds…

Get bursted in 1 sec instead of 0,5.
I find it pretty funny when people are actually expecting “SIGNIFICANT” nerfs to Eles.
They will probably bring burning down at some point, I could see that coming and it will bring Eles down (amongst other builds), but beyond that…

I tried some of the suggestions above but I still have a lot to learn. Still dying in every fight, even when clearing camps so I’m obviously still too new for ele =/
Also I have great difficulty switching between attunements.
I can get into fire attunement easily cause I had a hotkey for it. but the other attunements I need to physically press F2 F3 F4 or use my mouse to click which feels too slow!How do you guys do it? you guys bind new keys to F2 F3 F4?
Well, you did choose easily the worst main weapon (sceptre) elementalist have at their disposal at the moment, so it’s gonna be quite the struggle especially against good players.
Anyway yeah I guess every elementalist just bind their attunements to whatever they feel comfortable with.
I personally run it on 1-2-3-4.

I’m about halfway done with celestial armor, but what about weapons and trinkets? Should I go for celestial on those too or do people throw in other stuff? I’m about to make the fractal back piece and need to know if I should choose celestial.
Does celestial trinkets (ascended) and zerker/valk or soldiers gear work? Trying to avoid making more cele gear its such a pain.
totally don’t need to be heavy on Celestials.
Full Cele Trinkets and the rest just a mix of stats is perfect.
Mix what you have available to you until you reach stats like the guy above me said, which is what like most of the eles are running aorund (more or less).

condition dmg and healing power, whatever u get from your celestials.
I would say not to use any gear that boost these stats outside of celestial.

Any elementalist/guardian/thief willing to let me know which skill/animation I need to dodge/interrupt will be greatly helpful against Guardians and Elementalist.
For Eles, what you should avoid without much trouble:
Running through the ring of fire on the ground
Avoid eating a Burning breath, it’s 2 second long casting
Not really easy to avoid:
Cleansing Fire (instant utility/trait that removes condition and applies Burning)
Burning on dodge roll when in fire attunement

I also kinda want to run the Fire traitline with Traveler’s but I don’t feel like getting a whole new set of armor and runes (I’m running Air with Hoelbrak runes atm).
Recently I saw a build that ran the Burning Fire trait, which allowed the user to replace Cleansing Fire with Signet of Air for the 25% movement speed. Would that be an acceptable alternative? When activated, the SoA is a stunbreak on a pretty low cooldown so I guess it’s not completely useless, but then I’d lose the movement speed for 25 seconds, which would suck. The swiftness from air attunement swap is only 5 seconds, so that’d hardly make up for it. Updraft also provides swiftness, but it’s too valuable to use on cooldown just for the swiftness.
you should try it out, I dont find it particularly problematic running fire/arcana/water with hoelbrak even if u dont have 100% swiftness uptime.
I do use updraft to proc swiftness during non-combat travelling tho and a lot of attunement swapping.
Im trying out full celestial actually
stats are like (no wvw buffs, only food/oil):
18k hp
2500 armor
1950 power
34% crit chance
192% crit dmg
600 cond
600 healing power
I didnt like full celestial pre patch because traits line gave u stats, so u had too much HealingPower, and spending stats in condition dmg might have not been such a good idea considering the old burning.
But right now with no stats from traits, and burning being such a powerful condition, it doesnt seem like a bad alternative to me.

my knowledge of the ranger’s traits isnt that good, how do they keep 15-20 stacks of might?
Why air? I think fire offers more damage and also survivability in form of passive blind
Im not really sure about fire offering more survivability, more often in roaming u are not 1v1ing, that blind trait gets worse the more stuff join up the fight, be it players, pets , guards, or even clones.
I went back to roaming yesterday, started with my usual SPvP build Fire/water/arcana, it was all good.
Then I also tried Air/Water/Arcana. And I was pleasantly surprised.
I think air is pretty good in WvW, I don’t like it as much in sPvP.
Also Mobility is a pretty BIG part of roaming, and RTL on 13/26 secs CD is pretty kittening sweet.
entertaining clips, kinda makes me want to go back wvw roaming with my ele, but the fps struggle with my crappy pc is real
I hope they keep it like this. How can people even play in that mess full of team-swappers and leavers that is called Hotjoin is beyond me.

I mostly miss RTL from dagger off-hand…
but I just like focus so much more at the moment.
It gives me these nice defensive skills like reflects and invulnerability which are very nice for me, in this meta where everyone is doing so much dmg in so little time

I don’t know about you. But I would be MAD as kitten for losing it all because lord was at 1%.
but if 1 person die the whole team will die soon and thre it begins – when 1 dies there is like 5 vs 4 already then it becomes 5 vs 3 etc and then when you respawn you run on mid again but you are alone. You die and untill you respawn your team just did the same thing you did and this is the whole game.
This is basically every godkitten unranked game in foefire.
playing against premades can be actually fun when u see it’s a full team premade , most likely on TS too…and they actually lose lol.
I dont think unranked are a big enough deal to justify a system like this.
I am not gonna stand aside because one guy on the other team:
-crashed/disconnected
-had to quit for irl reasons
-whatever
he might return or might not.
And no I do not enjoy playing against or with in a 4vs5.
Stomps suck, be it on the winning or losing side.
This is more of a system suitable for ESL matches, and that’s totally understandable.

I was doing a rotation and ignoring what was going on around me (mainly chasing might stacks). With kits, I switch for the situation.
yeah but that’s mostly because of you being new to the class. Once you gain familiarity with it you will be able to stack might at the same time as keeping your eyes on what the kitten is happening around you.
Rotation is good and bad. Some say that u dont need a rotation in pvp, and I believe is right.
But I also believe that actually using the rotation is good, but like I said before, there is a time for a rotation (the rotation has only one objective, to maximize might stacks) and a time to improvise and switch on what you actually need. You will understand when is when the more you play it.
Camping an element is never good, well maybe if you are Earth (stone earth) it can be decently good when used right.
But other than that, you need to switch as soon as u used the abilities u needed.
The only attunement worth camping in if u need some Auto attack dmg is Lightning. (im talking about Dagger mainhand)

Especially when coupled with “incredible survivability.”, because this means Cele.

Wow… Just… this is so broken. I tanked 3 people and still downed 2 the other fled… like this is just one example, Of course I have expertise in ele as I mained it a while but…
For reference, i went Earth,Water, Arcana, with stone heart.
Terrible players are terrible. More at 11.
A Cele can surely tank 1 player, especially if going full defense with Earth like you did.
No kittening way 3 decent players can’t kill a cele.
For a little time yea, especially with D/F but then he needs to gtfo… if anyone survives a 3v1 and come out with 2 stomps it is clear that those players need to check their build and actually start using their hands.

There is a couple things wrong with your statistics.
Any ele fighting with under 20 stacks of might is bad.
Any ele using 3 Cantips is REALLY bad. ?
Any ele using Rune of Strength is also bad. ?

When a condition is so superior that it deals 3 times the amount of damage FROM THE SAME STATS,
What does that tell you?

Yes i do play an ele as d/d or d/f
and its so bloody powerful i can even 1vsX in wvw or pvp absolutely facerolling.
against new players , probably , d/d – d/f ele is a great noobs stomper.
He is tanky enough and has enough dmg to mow through them.
If you are 1vsXing competent players playing decent builds you are not going to survive even 2 players.
Not with the kind of dmg people run around these days.
Hell, only one mesmer is all it is needed to put the ele on the defensive.
Im not even talking using my personal experience with d/x Ele (which is one of the strongest class/builds, no denying that) just watching these “famous” ele like denshe and phantaram on twitch when they do stream in these days, and I see em literally MELT 2v1.

Well I think the rotation you mentioned is still good… F->E->W->L->F etc etc because a good rotation like this one let’s you stack so much might.
But like people above said, you also need to react to your opponents.
So basically I follow that rotation when im allowed to do so and I can freely dps someone, and instead switch to what Attunement is actually needed depending on the situation when Im under focus and or I need that specific skill to CC someone or whatever.

I’m not sure why you hate Defy Pain that much. It’s really good if you’re in the middle of the enemy zerg and it also works during lags because there are too many players around (which is a huge benefit if you play on a big server).
Defy pain is not bad. It’s just not needed. Especially if you run already Endure Pain. An hammer warrior is losing quite a lot without Merciless Hammer. Still if you really want all the tankiness out there okay…but it still not worth it I would say.
The 25% damage is pre-calculated on cc-skills, that means every hammer CC-skill will ALWAYS hit 25% harder.
And yes you should definitely try Cleansing Ire again. It’s probably the best trait Warrior’s have at their disposal.
And it is present in like every godkitten build, from power to condi.
If you don’t like healing signet, then go for Healing Surge + Cleansing Ire. All the conditions removal you will ever need, mending is so outdated since Cleansing Ire it’s not even fun.
Cleansing ire has the potential to remove from 3 to 6 conditions every 7,5 seconds. That’s some crazy kitten kitten. (and in zerg missing those Adrenalines skills is like…impossibile?)

We are lucky Fast Hands even works LoL.
It was bugged for GOD only knows how many months, and thus was always 10sec even if u traited it (anyone remember the fix date btw? probably 2013, godkitten it anet)

I like how people just get mind kittened by big crits. In reality that build nowadays is quite bad. Totally out-classed by any hammer build or CondiWar or Gs/Mace…
One trick pony build based around axe F1, with NO condition removal. (any decent to good Condition player will take a big kitten on you)
And…On my mark, and signet of might? Really? I mean…ON MY MARK?! Seriously, please.
That’s a good build to make a montage choosing them clips with big crits on newbies/clueless people.
Little to no competitive build for anything else tough.
