Does this skill destroy the projectiles Giganticus Lupicus shoots on the ground during Arah explorable? Phase 2/3?
I haven;t leveled my Elementalist to try it out, but if it does it seems Scepter/Focus is the way to go on that fight then. Or possibly even solo Lupicus as an Elementalist.
Hey guys, i’ve actually done quite a few dungeon runs but only with people of atleast the minimum level required to enter.
But is it also possible to do the dungeon with a lvl 80 character and then enter the dungeon at the end of the fight with let’s say a level 5 character and get the end reward on that?
So to make it clear:
Do content with level 80 in CoF.
Re-log onto level 5 that’s in Fireheart and enter CoF
Receive end rewards and tokens on level 5?
Where did you get this? We need a source for that information.
I couldn’t care less about the nerfs, patch after patch I remain on top of the sPvP scoreboard so doesn’t affect me.
I accept the change, but if they are going to put the revealed debuff on us then they should fix the channeled attacks through stealth.
I’ve had success in sPvP last two weeks, I heavily specced into DM and BM on making them viable.
Any 1 v 1 situation ends me winning, regardless of what class I encounter I win and that’s final. I feel like a powerhouse, I can 2v1 in certain situations but it takes a lot of time and a lot of button mashing.
However, I feel like weak Minions should be raisable by using weapon skills not utility. Therefor I would move Bone Minions to weapon skills, and introduce stronger and better looking ‘’Bone Horrors’’ a la GW1 style to utility slot. They should hit harder, but slower and be able to hit 3 targets at a time.
Regarding the overall appearance of Minions, I completely agree with every single Necromancer out that that they plain suck. The only exception to that is the Flesh Wurm and the Devourer.
Minions currently look so stupid that I do not feel like one that raises the dead to fight for me, the Shade looks kittened because the black stuff around him is static, if it instead drips down like Death Shroud does you’d have an entirely different Minion.
Minions well… enough said… Flesh Golem needs to be bigger and more bad kitten
Actually I feel the exact same way, and keep making Human after Human. I want to like the other races and I do but not playing one myself.
I could see myself rolling a Norn if they changed the running animation to be less goofy, same goes for Sylvari which I also like and would like more if they wouldn’t look so skinny and weird wearing armor.
Humans are just best in proportion and armor looks awesome on them regardless of profession.
‘I swung a sword. I swung a sword again. Hey! I swung it again.’ This.
This change of philosophy is true for players when they first advertised that, however NPC’s are still swinging the sword over and over.
Enemies in Guild Wars 2 feel like the ones in WoW, bland and static. The only one who sort of has somewhat of a GW1 AI and skillset is Giganticus Lupicus and boy is that fight awesome. (Not being sarcastic)
I’m a Thief and agree it is not balanced however if burst is toned down then something else needs to be buffed because that’s our main survival, to dps or to die.
I would like to bury this topic in the ground after seeing this:
’’DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a highly creative and extremely passionate person to serve as a designer working on content being developed for Guild Wars 2 in China. The game designer will work closely with the design leads to ensure that the core vision, game content, and gameplay created is carried through the development of new content, features and live operation of Guild Wars 2.
PLUSES:
Familiarity with Chinese and Korean online games.’’
http://ch.tbe.taleo.net/CH05/ats/careers/requisition.jsp?org=NCSOFT&cws=1&rid=1354
We can take from this that the to be hired Game Designer will work on Guild Wars 2, we can also take from this that it’s a plus to be familiar with Asian online games.
Ofcourse this doesn’t say specifically that Guild Wars 2 would need a game designer for Asian themes in the game but if NCSoft would ask ArenaNet to stray away from it and keep it neutral. Why request specific for familiarity with Korean and Chinese online games? Also why would NCSoft ask such a thing of ArenaNet to keep it neutral? I don’t believe that they have power over that.
I would also like to note that it is inevitable that we travel to Cantha and Elona for that matter, it is a part of Guild Wars as much as Tyria is. It might take months or years before we go there but we will return because it would be silly to believe that developers haven’t thought of returning to other continents while working on the original ‘’Prophecies if you will’’ Guild Wars 2.
Ofcourse they are going to say we might do it, we haven’t really thought or talked about it much but that’s ofcourse the code of secrecy they must obey. Otherwise tomorrow we would read just about everywhere that an expansion of some sort is leaked or hinted by an ArenaNet employee.
Returning to other continents with the new game engine of Guild Wars 2, it would be of epic proportions to see the renewed Kaineng City, Jade Sea, Desolation and what have you. I know for certain that it was on everybody’s mind at ArenaNet when they saw Guild Wars 2 take shape and how epic those area’s would be.

In the mist locker in sPvP lobby, it has a slot for the Gnarled Walking Staff (The HoM reward one) However this is a slot for the green PvE version and not for the PvP one.
Obviously a minor bug.
I just rolled a Necromancer, and I can honestly say I am a beast in sPvP hitting top score nearly every match.
I’m having so much fun with this class that i’m sad I didn’t roll one during headstart.
Now that my pale Sylvari looks totally bad kitten with green glow coming from his face, I was slightly disappointed with the ‘’Bone Minion’’ model.
Coming from a Necromancer in GW1 that I had played for years before it got deleted and never was able to recover it, I felt bad kitten having a large army of 10 looking all mighty and powerful.
Now my question from me to you is:
What kind of minion would you like to see in the future? What would their abilities and effects be? What would they look like?
I would personally like to see the return of the ‘’Shambling Horror’’ with the ability to hit up to 3 enemies infront of them that heals the minion whenever they hit (with or without trait).
I’d also like to see the ‘’Bone Minion’’ have it’s model changed to the GW1 version, or slightly altered.
Last Refuge is a love/hate trait, honestly it needs to ignore revealed effect and allow you to get into stealth at said %hp. But to compensate has to move up in the trait tree otherwise it’s too OP for just 5 points.
You could transfer from GW1 to GW2, which would that be?
My choice for weapon would go out to the ‘’Ironwing Bow’’
My choice for armor set would go out to the ‘’Elite Necrotic’’ armor set.
7.5/10 I get a little jealous of Sylvari Thieves when I see one, every time
If you could change the dyes on your armor to go with your hair it’d be perfect!
Why not just play Guild Wars?
And, secondly, no to the entire idea. Nobody is Ascended, Weh-No-Su, or has survived the portal to the Realm of Torment that Varesh summoned at Gandara. You’re not cool enough to hang out with the gods.
And, thirdly, no to the entire idea. Human Gods are silent, and their domains don’t allow Norn, Asura, Sylvari, or Charr (Although there is at least once source for Charr revering Melandru).
Besides, Menzies and Dhuum aren’t really any part of the story, the Dragons are.
By that logic, how is it that we suffer from ’’Agony’’ while it is not caused by Mursaat?
It would be a waste if Guild Wars 2 would not offer a return to the Underworld and Fissure of Woe.
So the other day I was in Blazeridge Steppes when I heard the soundtrack that was used in the Fissure of Woe in Guild Wars 1.
I would like to put the suggestion out there for a remake of that elite area and put it in Guild Wars 2.
Kneel before the statue of Balthazar in Divinity’s Reach and pay one gold entry fee as a party (20 silver each).
All the original quests remain the same but then ofcourse now in events, the enemies remain the same. Skeletons pop up etc etc.
Full party wipe results in a kicking out of the dungeon and restart and repay entry just like in GW21
I can confirm this bug.
Using the Prestige then double tapping weapon swap to your other weapon will make the Prestige go on ‘’cancel cooldown’’ and recharge in 3-4 seconds. You can spam this all day long granted that you can swap weapons that fast in combat.
If anything I want as a Thief is less Thief players. I’m all up for harder HS/BS build!
I’ve been crying this out for a while now but Thief needs a level of depth in play rather than press 2 for effect.
I do however will say that Elementalist was a little over the top if specced all survival.
Buttons -> build up-> pay off
Instead of button -> pay off
I remember a Dev once in Heart of the Mists referring me to ask questions about high end sPvP to Xeph as we where standing just inches away from eachother.
However Xeph did not respond because he was AFK.
If you upset this level of PvPers, let alone someone who gives constructive feedback on the skills of the profession he plays the most then something is amiss.
My personal findings are limited regarding the new map since the browser is almost a no go to get it working here.
I will just underline the most important thing I have to say right here:
If anything deserves utter and utmost attention, it is profession balance if not complete rework. Skills, traits, attributes everything.
The update isn’t live yet.
Oh, I saw the notes and assumed it was already live! I apologize!
Nine new hair colors and six new eye colors are now available through the Total Makeover Kit and the Self-Style Hair Kits. These new hair and eye colors are winter-themed and are available only through these kits, which can be acquired from the Gem Store in the Services category. The new colors are marked with a star and can be applied to any race’s hair.
I just purchased the Total Makeover kit and to my suprise I can’t find any new colour schemes marked with a star under either eye and hair colour.
What you steal from an enemy largly(if not entirely) depends on what the enemy actually is.
In other words, stop stealing from rabbits expecting to get Whirlwind Axe.
The OP has a point, I myself have even stolen the Blinding Tuft item from enemies that don’t even have fur or feathers.
Hell even in sPvP when you steal from another Thief you will get the Blinding Tuft item while the fella ain’t even covered in feathers!
In other words, Tuft appears to be a very common item to receive when using ’’Steal’’
I’ve only played sPvP and PvE to some extent, i’m curious if the Caltrops P/D or D/D works well in dungeons.
I’m currently zerker D/D and SB and it works in Arah but I die pretty fast o.o
Ok just as I thought , but I guess this trait doesn’t want me to use venoms, because I must’ve tried it at least 30 times and it never recharged the venoms
It’s pretty random, it recharges all skills of one type. So if you equip three venoms and you use improv+steal it could recharge all those venoms.
However it could also be that it recharged all Trick type utilities, and if you don’t have that in your build you gained no benefit from Improvisation.
I used Improvisation alot in sPvP with the caltrop build, and just really really loved the double Caltrops + Signet of Malice.
They key to improvisation is to pack different utility types: Trick, Deception, Trap or whatever your favorite pick is so Improvisation can be used to it’s full potential and have most chance on recharging either utility.
Colin: I’m actually really impressed at how generally balanced the professions are. There are certain skills or abilities that all need to get better but across the professions it’s actually pretty decent. I
Lol really Colin, you actually believe that?
Initiative and our skills need rework, in current state it’s press to win. Every skill is just click and profit, there is no thought in it.
When we first learned about the Thief and the iniative system we all shouted: strategy! Iniative management! Use skills wisely!
This all faded once we learned how to heart seeker and how to CnD or DB spam. It’s the lack of build up→ follow up that makes classes that use systems like this unique and exciting.
I was going to put down the suggestion to have something along the lines of the GW1 Assassin combo’s again but haven’t been able to work it out.
I really want to build up to things and then unleash the force, but now it’s 2-2-2 or 5-1 5-1 5-1 or 3-3-3.
I hope that a dev leaves a response because it’s been so long, and Thieves have serious issues across the board, both strong and weak!
I miss the lower level area’s, could we implement Hardmode and vanquish area’s just like in GW1? Better drops from stronger enemies?
The inventory icon for the Centurion Claw changes to a steel dagger icon when you transmute the Centurion Claw skin on a dagger, while the transmute item before transmuting itself has a unique Centurion Claw icon.
I always wondered whats up with that? It irks me to see such a beautiful icon go to waste.
If GW2 would be supported for linux i’d instantly re-install Ubuntu.
World of Warcraft also ran better on linux for me than it did on Windows, if Blizz can do it then so can ANet
Not all balance should revolve around WvW, PvE deserves some attention too.
And yes during the 3 seconds you can only use other utilities just like the Elementalist would during Mist Form
Shadowform:
Become invulnerable for 3 seconds, blind foes near you. Breaks stun… Lol no. Others are fine, but I don’t see how that is even an option.
It’s the same as the Elementalists Mist Form utility, Thieves don’t get an oh kitten button that are needed in dungeons.
The fountain doesn’t make the sound anymore when waters hops from fish to fish on the Lions statue in LA.
I kinda miss the sound.
Remove traps entirely, replace them with four other utilities:
Shadowform:
Become invulnerable for 3 seconds, blind foes near you. Breaks stun
Dark Prison:
Pull foes towards target location, after 4 seconds nearby foes are pulled to this location again. Creates a dark combo field
Shadow sanctuary
Create a sanctuary at target location, allies standing in the sanctuary are granted protection and regeneration every second for 4 seconds. Foes attacking affected allies are chilled.
Way of perfection
Whenever you critical hit you and nearby allies are healed for X amount.
To compensate Infiltrators Signet no longer breaks stun.
Venomous aura: increases recharge by 15 seconds for each venom utility skill, instead venoms now automatically apply on every sixth hit rather than using charges. Venoms are shared up to 5 maximum allies nearby.

I had the same issue yesterday and went for pow/prec/crit, because regardless of packing toughness or not Thief is always very squishy.
I decided to go with pow/prec/crit because full dps is often in demand, and I’ll make up for the loss of toughness on armor by making jewelry that gives vit/toughness and pow/prec/crit.
This way I can swap on the fly to full dps and slightly more durable/less dmg specs depending on the situation.
I’m hoping for:
More combo fields
Removal of traps utilities entirely
Pistol/Pistol fix
Traits adjustment
More access to boons
There is no representative for a class, just because someone is known in the community for his video’s does not make him represent all Thieves or Engineers for that matter.
We all represent the Thief class and everything we say and do here represents what we are and what we do.
(On a side note, i’ve seen some high rank Thieves in sPvP that spanked my kitten And I consider myself a good Thief and PvPer)
I definatly need help with this dungeon, coming from a GWAMM in GW1 this Arah stuff is just stupid.
There are no other words for it, yesterday i’ve been trying all day with various groups and none could get past giganticus, day before that was the same thing.
I rock a Thief and had no issue dodging Lupicus the entire time during phase 2 where he consistently targeted me but during phase 3 everything flipped around and he reset numerous of times.
Well it is the elite end game dungeon… Just saying.
And you are a part of what social analysts would call a “vocal minority”.
Thanks for that man, you’re a real champ..
Don’t complain about something that you alone find unfair and “too hard”. Instead try asking for help from the thousands that have completed the dungeon. Try YouTube, you can find plenty of guides there.
How am I the only one that finds it unfair and too hard when I read about it daily on the forum, even if I ask others they simply don’t want to do Arah because of how it’s currently set up?
I’ve spent more time looking at YouTube then actually being in the dungeon, and those are a couple of hours.
It’s just ridiculous that you have to be the elite to do this, with that said i’m done with PvE and it’s ridiculous state.
I’ve tried several times, several fails. Giganticus get’s me and my team every time.
Worst time i’ve ever had thanks ArenaNet, nice bugs and nice fight, nice class balance and nice dungeon balance.
Also thanks for the blue rewards.
The ingame armor skins are like transmutation stones, when you double click on them it gives you the option to convert them to PvP (Krytan Primeval)
Also counts for Halloween items and such!
As a PvP-er I feel like I said, left out in PvE because it is seperate.
With the introduction of special pve skins for pvp, can we converse from pvp to pve? As a PvP player I feel left out in PvE while I put alot of effort in the game.
Converting a piece would cost 20K? Glory and the item will be converted as a skin type item so you cannot salvage it for ectos or sell it at the TP because it’s account bound.
Tanks should not exist in this game, we spread out and ranged him but when 3 of my team where down he suddenly reset to phase 1.
Nice waste of couple of hours on this dungeon.
Even while in combat he kept resetting, regenerating health and going back to phase 1.
Not only is the fight ridiculous for some professions but he is bugged so badly!
Charles asked us to provide feedback regarding the Thief because of the many many topics created concerning our abilities.
I would like to know what the current situation is regarding the Thief, because non Thief players complain about the 1 2 3 Backstab combo and Thief players complain about general squishyness, lack of diversity in builds and usefulness (and lack of some) utility skills.
I really hope a generous soul at ArenaNet stops removing my posts and threads and just gives us atleast hint of the direction in where we are going, because I feel like I am left in the dark when it comes to my main profession.
Literally I am begging for some communication from ArenaNet to us!
You do know that steal has many applications right? And we have initiative instead of cooldowns which is also our special ability.
My point exactly, you need to trait for steal to use it effectively. Other professions do not have this issue, they don’t need to trait ‘’the rock’’ for it to become useful.
I’m opening up the discussion on ’’Steal’’ again, the one profession class special ability that makes no sense to use on it’s own whatsoever.
Is a ’’rock’’ really justified to have once every 45 seconds or so?
the water mask can have a run
It’s not the breather mask.
There’s a display bug that adds together PvP and PvE runes when it displays the tooltip.
It is most DEFINATLY NOT a tooltip bug, i’m actually wearing 6/6 Rata Sum runes as can be seen in the picture.
(edited by bettadenu.5483)
My armor set is wearing 6/6 Rune of Rata Sum, but also I have one Rune of the Pirate equipped on my headgear.
I have no clue on how this happened, I’m assuming that somewhere i’ve got 2 runes on 1 armor piece.
