I’m in Tier 1 atm so I’m not sure where your sarcasm is coming from or what is directed at. It was pretty clear to me that when JQ guilds started dropping down it was to stop a rising DB.

It has nothing to do with “Evil Overlords” and more to do with JQ trying to stay in Tier 1. There are people on BG and JQ that are heavily invested in those servers and will play the tier meta game to stay in tier 1.

You are free to dismiss this as rubbish but I think it is commonly accepted at this time that this is something that happens.

I hope DB keeps recruiting and keeps pushing.

Not a single JQ went to t2 to stop DB, stop pulling stuff out of your behind. The people that went to t2 is because their timezone in t1 was not to their satisfactory and want to find their happiness elsewhere.

I agree that TC is not stacking to go to Tier 1. It seems to me that the JQ guilds that transferred there were more interested in stopping DB from pushing into Tier 1 and JQ or BG from falling into Tier 2.

Once DB has imploded, those JQ guilds will be going right back up to JQ in Tier 1.

The Tier Metagame is in full force. There are players in both JQ and BG that are heavily invested in those servers and don’t want them to fall down the ranks. The paid transfers and the ability to set up multiple alt accounts creates a bit of a pay to win in this regard. Anyone willing to throw enough money at the problem can manipulate the tiers and sabotage rising servers.

They transferred to get better fights from DB? That is your theory. lels. Since dragonbrand’s KDR is worse than Yaks Bend and DB’s fight activity is lower than YB’s, I would say that theory is complete crap. I doubt better fights was the motivation, maybe … just maybe it was to farm DB’s bags but I think my theory makes more sense. JQ was trying to keep DB out of tier 1 and sent guilds to TC to reinforce it until DB implodes. Eventually the ‘bandwagoners’ of dragonbrand would get tired of banging their head against the tier 1 wall and just give up.

Unless the leadership on DB wants to completely played by Tier 1 leadership, they should keep recruiting hard and pushing hard to shut down this silly tier manipulation. Force JQ and BG to play to stay in Tier 1.

Well, first this is one person’s opinion not DB. DB is not crying, I don’t talk about this BS when running like TC does. Yes, of course I would post on this forum and not on the most toxic gw2 forum on the net. ;-)

Now for the good part, I used to be on TC and know people on that server. Most of your stories are just what you want to think.

Kazo is TC native and to my knowledge not a single guild was bought.

Ironically DB stacked up for that t1 dream crushing other servers in the attempt to do so and now they are losing (I will enjoy watching another DB implosion).

DB and FA have a confirmed alliance versus TC and even then they still cannot bring it down (all this talk about TC having bad players and bad commanders just goes to show how low the skill level is on DB and FA because you guys are losing lel).

Hi all,

This is a great thread. It’s constructive. We’re all reading it and referring to it in team discussions.

As we said in the AMA, our top internal priorities have been population balance and rewards. From this thread, your top five priorities are, in order:
1. Stability & skill balance
2. Fix or revert DBL
3. Rewards
4. Population balance
5. Scoring

Yes, we will take the feedback and make stability, general skill balance, and fixing/reverting DBL our top priorities. We’re not currently working on scoring and that has to be a longer-term project.

Karl is working specifically on WvW-focused skill balance. He’s looking for the wins for WvW that don’t screw the rest of the game.

We’re investigating whether to fix or revert DBL. They’re both a lot of work. These next couple days will be your last chance to give feedback before we make a decision, so speak now or forever hold your peace.

I want to reiterate that everything we work on either ships in April or starts beta-testing on Live servers in April. We’re locking down dev work for the April release soon — next up is localization, QA, integration and regression testing — but we’ll extend the deadline for WvW skill balance.

There is one thing that doesn’t need to get wrapped up into the April release: Friday night resets. That doesn’t require a Live build. We’ll do it.

This is a much needed reply thankyou for it.

One key pointer to this all is the problematic shield generator.

Alpine Borderlands are better than the Desert in its current state. My suggestion would be a significant nerf or removal of the shield generators while you swap back in the Alpine maps. While those are running fix the Desert ones and have a weekly Borderland rotation for variety and strategy switch up.

This is good and I applaud you for the step in the right direction right off the bat.

EBG Lowlands and Jerrifers tower still get contested because guards attack ambient creatures.

Auto Upgrade is still a thing.

Desert Borderlands too vertical for the majority of players.

Shield generators too strong.

Much of the WvW aspects in the new Scribe profession too far and high locked into money and levels (such as the +5 supply).

Melee / Range tags suffering from the new squad system.

Some walls appear with 0% and are clickable but indestructible and revert back to normal later.

Projectiles going through T1 walls.

Ridiculous amount of client crashes for alot of people.

Some classes too dominant in AoE.

What gamemode are you exactly playing? What boatload of changes?

It is so bad compared to the core traits and weapons, i cannot begin to understand the logic behind this ridiculous attempt at an “elite spec”

Let me start with the problems:

Longbow skills are pathetic:

#1: an inferior version of trickshot that unless you are offshooting at people in a zerg, or in PVE, is just a pathetic autoattack with no added functionality and mediocre dmg. The arrow speed IS getting buffed but the functionality when it comes to sPVP and bosses is nonexistent

#2: It has a cost time and it ROOTS you in place. Has anyone in the internal team tried that versus a non-AI opponent? Has anyone ever tried the DH in sPVP AT ALL? do you honestly think you can land that on ANY remotely competent player out there? Cuz i sure as hell don’t think so. You can give the skill 20k base damage and your average mesmer, thief, ele, and even warrior now will 100-0 you with no chance of fighting back

#3: Its being looked at. the idea is ok but the velocity needs to be reduced and width doubled at least

  1. an inferior version of Trickshot? Have you even ever played a Thief and used the Shortbow? My guess would be no. Puncture Shot does more damage than Trick shot and adds cripple on the bounce AND has 1200 range AND has higher velocity.
  1. True Shot is a HIGH power spike skill that roots you in place. There are several ways for you to achieve a hit with True Shot aside from casually using it. It’s 1200 range pierces, is a finisher AND is on a short cooldown.
  1. Width doubled, you kidding me right?

I have the same issue with Guardian staff #4: Empower.
The final pulse on that skill puts out a big blue flash that forces me to close my eyes for a second. Same with Ride the Lightning for the Elementalist.

Since the feature pack patch Thieves have been left behind in the competition for power. I always firmly believe that Thief is very well balanced but other classes are just vastly overtuned. To cope with this power creep while keeping the Thief balanced we need more tools not more damage, also include fixing alot of broken and pointless stuff in our kitten nal alone would come a very long way.

Thief audio and voiced skills:

I’ve noticed sometimes my Thief will shout “Pillage!” when activating ‘’Thieves Guild elite". I’d like to see more interaction upon stealing or going stealth. I always liked the voice interactivity of other classes like Elementalists and Necromancers. Would love to see this on Thieves aswell.

Using steal: “Whats yours is mine!” / “Loot!”
Gaining stealth: “Shhhh” / “Hide!” / Taunting Whistle
Using Backstab: “Die!”
Using venoms: Sinister laugh

Initiative
Increase base Initiative to 14 but remove the added Initiative from Trickery trait line so that it isn’t nigh required to run for builds. Add in initiative regain in different ways in each trait line. Example: Critical strikes line gives initiative back when scoring crits

Weapons.

Shortbow 1. Buff arrow speed ànd always be a projectile finisher to keep up with the Dragonhunter #1 (which base cripples).
Shortbow 4. Add an extra stack of poison per pulse, synergy with Potent Poison trait.

Sword in general: there’s been talk about some delay in the attacks, needs looking in to.
Sword 2. Infilitrators Retun, change iniative cost to 1 instead of 2.

Dagger 4. Has issues with travel speed. Very unreliable to hit. Needs a fix.
Dagger 5. Needs to apply AoE blind when it lands.

Stealthed Staff 1. Needs to be much much faster in activation and animation.
Staff 2. Needs a different animation in my opinion. It’s a little sluggish to have the #2 skill root you in an animation. Proposed animation: The whirl like the Revenant auto attack #3 and able to move freely. It’s also aesthetically more fitting.

Utility skills

Fist Flurry/Pulmonary Impact effect: either apply AoE pulmonary impact (3 to 5 enemies are affected) or make Pulmonary Impact apply AoE damage. It doesn’t make sense since it’s uncrittable to not be AoE damage. Also description says it’s a rupture yet it only affects 1 person.

Contrary to the description. Pulmonary Impact does NOT cause massive damage.

Bandit’s Defense/Reflexive Strike: Change it so that if you block an attack the cooldown is greatly reduced. 50-75%. Change follow up animation to not root you in place.

Smoke Screen: Stealth allies passing through the smoke field. Reason: relieve mesmers from being veilbots in WvW so they can use other skills aswell and added general team support (triggering Shadow Arts traits).

Scorpion Wire: needs the same treatment as Dagger 4. very unreliable to use so it needs some speed to it, I would also like a piercing fact (up to 3 targets) to make this worth it or puncture through minions and or clones.

Traps: lately the Ghost Trapper has become a problem in WvW, it’s very hard to deal with if they run as a guild or organized group. Needs a (mid to high) damage fact so that it reveals Thieves but compensates for it by adding high spike damage to it.

Traits

Cloaked in Shadow moved to Master. Remove the falling damage from the trait and put it on Last Refuge it makes the most sense really.

Move Hidden Thief to Grandmaster and add the following to it: When you gain stealth you also stealth nearby allies (up to 3) for 3 seconds.

Preparedness: Initiative increase removed, gain a boon depending on the item stolen.

Warrior: Swiftness
Guardian: Aegis
Elementalist: Might
Necromancer: Protection
Mesmer: Quickness
Ranger: Regeneration
Thief: Fury
Revenant: Resistance
Engineer: Stability

Ankle Shots moved to Grandmaster, remove the 10% damage bonus. Instead Pistol shots will now pierce targets. (this makes up for the removal Ricochets).

Hidden Killer moved to master and crit chance reduced to 50%.

Addition of while in stealth skills

A long time ago we got consistently nerfed for perma stealth D/P Thieves and the issue was always the Heartseeker leap and Black Powder Smoke field.

Add new while you are in stealth attack skills for #2 and #3 skills to balance out the D/P meta and shift some love to D/D.

Stealth skills (All are while you are in stealth

Dagger #2: Puncture Armor, very low damage but cause 20 stacks of vulnerability for 7 seconds.
Dagger #3: Falling Spider, low damage whirl around causing 2 stacks of poison for 5 seconds per strike. (x3).

Sword #2: Shadow Walk, Shadowstep to target causing low to mid damage stealing a boon and transfering 1 condition.
Sword #3: Beguiling Haze, mid damage immobilize for 1 second and slowing the target for 3 seconds.

Pistol #2: Desperate Shot, low damage shot that dazes enemies in a line. Unblockable.
Pistol #3: Assassins Powder, high damage projectile on impact that scatters lower damage to those near the target. High bleed on the scatters 6 bleed for 5 seconds.

Shortbow #2 Smoketrail arrow. mid damage. Leaves a smoke field trail behind the arrow blinding foes struck and in the field.
Shortbow #3 Retreating shot. evade backwards with a shot while restoring 3 initiative.

Staff #2 Unseen Fury, hit the target blinding him and granting yourself and allies fury for 5 seconds. Mid damage.
Staff #3 Way of the Master. Strike your foe for very low damage. you and your allies next 5 attacks have a 20% damage increase.

Tell me what you guys think, this is just what I’ve been thinking of for a while but never posted my thoughts on the forum.

I feel Thieves don’t need much more damage but just needs more tools to play with the situation given at hand to compete with the power creep of other classes whilst fixing some of our cheesiest builds.

thief traps deserve the nerf and that’s the end of it.

Alas, it was indeed a bug and needed to be fixed. A single skill that deals that much damage (from being CC’d, nonetheless) was a bit much. Sleight of hand was your best friend this last weekend in PvP.

What does this mean for me as a WvW player? Was this bug isolated to fragments hitting too much/kitten 1 player or damage as a whole?

If this trap gets it’s damaged reduced than all other traps need to be buffed up.

Good spec! I love it so far!
Have some criticism though.

Spear of Justice – Very lackluster, needs more emphasis on the tethering.
Wings of Resolve – Needs an evade and cure Immobilize on activation (Couldn’t jump out of immob).
Shield of Courage – Needs to be instant cast so it cannot be interrupted just like it’s normal version.

LB #2 True Shot – Needs to be useable while moving.
LB #4 Symbol of Energy – Arc needs to be higher but arrow speed faster.
LB #5 Hunter’s Ward – Needs a slightly shorter cast time to justify the rooting.

Procession of Blades – Needs slightly more damage and a whirl finisher.

Overall one of the most enjoyable specs so far!

It’s overlapping way too much with Unyielding Anquish + Traits + Mace #3 and Axe #5 if you are condi specced.

I cannot justify it’s use in the current state. In WvW I only use it to trigger Diabolic Inferno and then pop back out.

Hopefully we’ll get our old version back.

Why would anyone take offhand sword over shield?

Do you guys feel that having blocks on both weapons with shield being the better block makes offhand sword somewhat redundant?
Do you think that #5 on Sword is justified to take it over shield?

I agree that a CC on UA would be nice, but I’d rather not have it on landing. Sometimes (quite often actually), I just want to inflict maximum Torment damage. Especially in PvE, this is important, as I want to be able to deal competitive condi DPS without knocking foes all over the place. Now that the Torment will be inflicted per pulse, this is even more important.

That’s why I would love to see UA transition into a second skill that detonates the field, inflicting fear or knockback to foes inside. This skill could be called Shadow Smash or Shadow Blast or something. The most important thing about this is that the CC would be optional, not forced, making UA useful for a wider variety of occasions.

The cooldown could also be dropped this way, which is something we all want I believe.

Hence my suggestion to include a pull into the center of the field. That way you have both CC and enemies get trapped into the torment field. (Get rid of the chill)

A few more things:

  • I reduced the after-cast of unyielding anguish by 260ms so it should help the responsiveness when you land.
  • Embrace the Darkness: Lowered the cast time and after-cast by 400ms and reduced it’s upkeep cost by 1 so it’s at a 7 upkeep cast right now.

I hope that after BWE3, we can convince you to return the condition copy on EtD.

Displace wasn’t a bad mechanic imo, it just bypassed stuff that it shouldn’t bypass. If they fixed it so stabo works and it didn’t move huge PvE monsters I don’t really see the issue.

Displacement was something in the game back in GW1, nobody cried about it. Now it’s in GW2 and everyone is crying their hearts out apperently.

A change to UA so that it works similar to Gravity Well the Chronomancer offers would fit well here.

Let the field pulse a pull to the center every 2 seconds for 4 seconds so that players caught will be pulled into a field of Torment.

Ofcourse it should be a weaker version of it so that Mesmer won’t start QQing.

What am I suppose to do now? Turn on the elite and let it drain all my energy and just press 111111111111111111111111111 in hopes the enemy is in melee range to get hit.

At lease with copying condis, you could copy a snare on the enemy to keep them in place, now it sucks.

This is probably the most valid argument to revert the EtD changes. If anything this promotes stale gameplay because it provides a constant passive effect rather than the old EtD flexible gameplay.

I saw someone post a video earlier on a Mallyx Revenant in PvP versus a condi Warrior.

I would easily sacrifice the 10% stat boost in favour for the condition copy.

I just wanted to stop in and say I’m definitely closely reading all the feedback about these changes and while I know some of you will miss some old functionality we feel it will be the right choice for the health of the game and profession for the long term. This is why I have faith in you. However still raises concerns. I felt that Mallyx was the ‘’Fight fire with fire’’ legend. Because of the new changes I feel it’s just another ‘’apply condition and bunker it out build’’.

Unyielding Anquish had different issues other than disorienting for players, it bypassed stabo (which it should not) and bypasses defiance in PvE (which it should not) and was capless on target which again should not behave like that.

I still vouch for putting displacement on the initial hit and then pulsing torment. Just because we need a way to knock stuff out of a certain range. (Decapping nodes, stop stomp/rezzing.

Embrace of Darkness needs to be reverted. By the looks of the new changes we already have a massive amount of torment available to us. Why add another elite on top of it that pulses more torment?

I also want to note that we have had two Beta weekends to test out the Revenant and Mallyx. You and your team have followed feedback of two weekends on completely changing mechanics based on the new experiences of players using Mallyx in a team composition. What i’m saying here is that people may not have found a way to work with Mallyx Revenant stacking conditions on themselves yet. This is a l2p issue not a dev2change issue.

Personally I have had zero issues using Mallyx and allies condi clearing me. I feel the choice to mechanically change our Demon Monkey stance may have been somewhat rushed.

Mallyx is the most fun legends and is in my opinion the best you have created in terms of functionality. i.e. Fight Fire with Fire, Condi with condi!

Please reconsider some of your changes.

Mallyx was supposed to be the ‘’Fight Fire with Fire’’ condition legend. Now it’s just a wannabe Necromancer-like legend.

The concept of pulling conditions to fuel your power potential was the biggest selling point for me to roll Mallyx every single time.

People didn’t realize that a single boon strip kills a Mallyx Revenant nearly instantly, now we got nerfed QQ.

We are all fine the the removal of pulsing displacement. But the current state of the skill is silly, either make it a proper 900 leap or add a kb/fear on land.

Also main complaint on mallyx is Embrace the darkness…

I’m not fine with it ;O

Pulse fear would be nice as it would trigger the stronger effect of Torment.

Leap toward the targeted area, tormenting foes and creating a demonic field that displaces enemies. Apply bonus torment if you have equal or more conditions than the threshold applied to you.

The reason why is because the displacement was too strong. Not the effect itself but the skill was bugged so that aslong as the field was active, nothing no matter how many foes tried to run over it got displaced back.

This means that the pulsing effect was useless because of a bug in the skill. The correct Unyielding Anquish should pulse 1 displacement each second for 4 seconds with a cap of 5 targets.

Example: I put Unyielding Anquish infront of a portal in WvW, enemy zerg could not get in aslong as I kept the fields up because it did not cap the targets. Instead it lined everyone up in one little clump because the skill was bugged. This was broken and I admit it. Unyielding Anquish however should still have the displacement effect on it, as it was my go to skill to stop stomps/rezzes.

TL;DR, Displacement was bugged, uncapped and untimed, did not allow people to run into the field to get torment on them.

Proposed change: displace enemies every 1 or 2 seconds for 4 seconds with a displace on the initial hit. Pulse torment each 1 second for 4 seconds.

REMEMBER!: Roy’s our boy! And if we can give proper feedback on it after the next BWE we might see some of the Mallyx changes reverted!

No? You propose huge buffs across the board to a class that’s already overpowered. Jalis and Ventari may need a slight bump, Herald needs to be nerfed, several cooldowns and damage modifiers need to be nerfed, e.g. Coalescence or Ruin.

I wonder in where I propose huge buffs?
Most changes I propose are mechanic wise as in how skills should really work. Like for example Infuse light on revival only gives the benefit to the person revived and not to the revivor. All other revival skills on other classes give both benefit to the person reviving and being revived.

I propose more energy costs for most skills and even for the Herald to increase the energy degeneration.

General usage

Sometimes I hit weapon swap after Legend swapping but it doesn’t respond. I don’t know if this is on my end or because of the profession. (I played in WvW exclusively and had to pretty much piano play my Revenant.

Roy you did not wan’t to put Energy regain on traits because that would make them baseline requirement for Revenants. How about we put energy regain on the auto attack of weapons?

Example:

Hammer auto: gain 1 energy for each foe struck (max 5).
Sword auto: gain 1 energy for each foe that has a rift on them (max 3).
Mace auto: gain 1 energy for each foe struck with the poison chain.
Staff auto: gain 1 energy for each orb picked up.

Often in WvW because of the ridiculous micro managing I find myself locked out of abilities because I spent all my energy. Not because I randomly bash buttons but because I had to use everything I had to respond to the situation.

Sword

I feel the autoattack chain animation is a little weird, might need tweaking.
Precision strike is supposed to be a gap closer but I don’t understand why the name is used for something that spins out bolts of chilling.
Change proposal: Make it function like Final Thrust and increase damage on lower HP targets. Make it either slow or chill the enemy so it gives you incentive to use it for a damage boost also increase energy to 10.

Grasping Shadow suffers the same issues that Cloak and Dagger has is hard to use for the pay off also angles are a little weird.

Axe

Frigid Blitz can leave you in weird angles, might need adjustment so that it doesn’t put you behind the target. (I prefer being behind the target for the disorienting effect it has on enemy players).

Temporal Rift will sometimes not hit enemies at all! Often acts very bugged (due to height?) Might have to put a little more width on it (340/360?)

Mace

Echoing Eruption doesn’t respond well with some terrains and will put you in a different direction whilst leaping thus wasting the blasts.

Staff

Too high energy cost on Debilitating Slam. It should be 5 or Free of Energy because it get’s swapped out. Put Punishing sweep on 10 energy if you make Debilitating Slam Free of energy cost.

Legends:

Overall in a good spot.

Ventari

Has no glow over hands/arms when slotted.

Tablet needs to be the right off the bat when Ventari is summoned.
Tablet needs an option to follow around and then be able to command it to go somewhere.

Energy Expulsion is garbage imo, could not find a reason to use it. Might need complete rework.

Jalis

Inspiring Reinforcements nerfed too harsh, animation and stabo takes too long to be applied to the Revenant. Also in a big zerg situation it will not always apply stabo to the Revenant but instead is applied to someone else. (Should always be applied to the Revenant first + 4 others).

Forced Engagement the skill that will never be used unless you have 50 energy to spare and use it for giggles.

Vengeful Hammers is good but the hammers disappear on terrain/walls but this is a known issue.

RotGD: I feel it’s good don’t change. Risk vs reward is balanced.

Shiro Perfect, don’t change.

Mallyx Mallyx is perfect, don’t change. Although I can see complaints because of the Unyielding Anquish displacement.

Glint Boon distribution might be too powerful. I would put Facet of Nature on a -3 Energy cost so it evens out. Players will have to pick which other face to use carefully and release Face of Nature for energy regain. As of right now people are too static in it’s useage. i.e. set and forget and roll with boons for days.
It will also punish bad Revenants.

Gaze of Darkness might need a little radius increase, I found it difficult to use.

Burst of Strength needs more damage.

Chaotic Release needs to also grant the Revenant super speed and needs a little more launch range 360->400

I’m only going to write up some traits because I have to go now! (wow long post)

Herald

Radiant Revival needs to also apply Infuse Light on the Revenant while reviving. And needs a duration increase to justify the high recharge (4 seconds).

Bolster Fortifcations is a self nerfing trait when you use Infuse light to heal yourself. It will reduce inc damage and thus reduce inc healing by 33%. Make it so that protection is applied AFTER healing yourself.

Soothing Bastion needs adjustments along with Shield #5. Break bar is easily broken. Soothing Bastion is a kill me now trait in a WvW scenario.

There is more feedback I have but don’t have the time to write down atm.

I want you to know that you can be really proud of what you have built here. The Revenant profession is easily the most fun i’ve had playing and it’s concept is interesting. It also feels very homeage to GW1 and the Ritualist. (Ritualist was able to fulfill alot of roles in a group very efficiently and so does the Revenant, even if it doesn’t have the Spirits and Urns mechanics).

I personally have been collecting gear and been theorycrafting for the Revenant and I just logged into my old beta character.

The bank you open is the bank you started BWE1 with meaning all new acquired gear (and skins) are locked on your beta charachter. Can we please get a new snapshot?
