If they say “We understood that megaservers are the worst idea ever thought. It fixed nothing and broke lots of thing. We are returning to the old system”, it will satisfy me.

The problem is that Anet do not realise they screwed the pooch on this one. All they see are $$$ from China sales, so all is well.

One first has to understand there is a problem before admiring mistakes were made. Since Anet is incapable of the former, the latter is out-of-the-question.

Very easy choice to make here.

With the gold you get from selling these 2, plus what you already have from selling Colossus, you should have enough to buy any legendary you want.

Not this again …

I guess the 800+ Tequatl kills TxS has done since last Sept are all pointless …

As someone already pointed out, Tequatl is stupid easy to kill.
If you do not know how to kill Teq and cannot be kitten d to read a guide and organise, stay out of the map when the event spawns.

17.3k from Backstab is easy to do with a D/D thief. In fact my thief often hits for more than that when doing some PvE world bosses and champs.
My thief runs with zerker armour with scholar runes, zerker trinkets with ruby orbs, in a 6/6/0/0/2 build.
MH dagger zerker with sigil of air; OH dagger zerker with sigil of force.

To earn gold level loot (8 champ bags plus tokens, passes, etc) you need to kill all 6 bosses in under 10 min.

We did this 5 times, so add in a few mins to organise before each attempt, this represents around 1.5 hrs spent, and this was our first time doing these events.

This was the rate you could expect earning champ bags doing the old Frostgorge train over the same time period.

Yes, you need to be organised, but this is not difficult for a guild to do. As for the pugs, if you present yourselves as serious about organising for gold level loot, most randoms will follow instructions.

EDIT: Just to add, what took time was getting all the guildies sorted into 3 different maps. But once that was done, doing 5 gold runs is pretty quick.

TxS did Boss Blitz for the first time last evening.

We spread guildies over 3 different CP maps and the group I was with managed 5 gold runs and 2 bronze runs. The bronze runs were due the event already in progress when we joined 2 different maps.

We will probably do this quite a few times more as the 40 odd champs bags were pretty decent for the time/effort spent.

I hope the ip technique is getting well known now. I hope that can help other guilds to get together on their missions/teq wurm kill easier.

All the ip technique does is let you monitor which ip address you are on or loading onto. That is all.

@ Dee Jay you dont need to be in the guild .

Just join the TS about 19:00 and go into channel 1 or 3 ( for a english lead) or go into channel 2 ( for a german lead) ts.gw2community.com

It is always better to join one of the guilds participating under the gw2community Many of these guilds do not require constant repping, they exist only to help in organising for the wurm event and getting players into the right maps.

Keep in mind, the gw2community represents a large player base, so the competition for places on the right map is fierce. These maps are often full 40-45 min before wurm starts.

An alternative is to join a guild like TxS that organises their own Teq and Wurm events.

Djeraya,

One of our TxS leaders was contacted by someone in your alliance yesterday asking about our Wurm kill time record. So, you have contacts with TxS, also at least one of our German guildies is in your alliance.

Thing is, after 75+ Wurm kills, TxS stopped keeping track of things like speed kills quite some time ago. We never record or screen-shot anything like this anymore.

Now with megaserver, it is so difficult just to get all our guildies on teamspeak into the same map with all the randoms around, speed records are the last thing on our minds.

OP, before attempting this event again, read up on how the event works, how to best build/equip your character to do it, and what to bring. Then join a guild that does this event.

Organised guilds try to create new maps so the players who want to do this have a better chance of all being on the same map. However, these maps fill with players very quickly, so you need to be on teamspeak to have a chance of getting into the right map.

The Wurm event event is not for casual players dropping by, it requires 100+ well organised players on teamspeak listening and following commanders.

And yes, this event gets done daily in the EU server region.

If you want to max your direct damage in open world, then it is zerker armour, or soldiers for the non-crit bosses, zerker weapons and trinkets.

How to fix Tequatl and 3 headed wurm

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: bri.2359

bri.2359

The problem with both of these events is the number of people they’re balanced about in relation to the population cap of the zone. Tequatl cannot be defeated if the zone isn’t soft-capped, there’s simply not enough people damaging him. Jungle Wurm pretty much can’t be defeated unless the zone is hard-capped.

Sorry, but you are wrong.

I have successfully done Tequatl with 45 players and Wurm with 110 players.
These numbers are far below any cap limits.

Map caps have nothing to do with this.
The problem is too many unorganised randoms showing up at these events having no clue about how these event work and cannot be kitten d to find out and follow instructions.

not to say I’m old but I remember key punch operators working endlessly to build files for the 1401 or the later 360, if that don’t date me. I remember playing chess via modem on what was to become known as “the internet” back in 1975. Pong was the first video game I played and I won’t even venture to guess how many different games I have played or at least sampled since then, I stumbled upon Guild Wars in February 2005, open beta and bought the Collector’s Edition after the experience … I crunch numbers, build and test everything … between Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2, I collectively have 95 characters, 65 on the former and 30 on the later, I know lore and weapons, stats and various builds as well as any of the youngsters, but I think the main reason I love Guild Wars 2 is the fluidity of the game as it grows with you, and the friendly community of players that you meet along the path.

Wow…now that takes me back. Reading this I recall in a college programming class having to punch cards to submit to the computer center…so they could run my program for me.

Yup, me too …
At uni I used an IBM APL 360 for running computer mapping software in1970.

If you like farming- Queens Pavilion is for you
If you like one on one challenge Gauntlet is for you

check it out- those were the most popular LS releases.

Not for me they were.
I hate jumping puzzles, particularly ones tied to LS content
I hated the mini-dungeon instanced thing on the beach.
The Pavilion was so boring: ogres, bandits, centaurs, rinse, repeat. This was far worse than any champ train.
Gauntlet was meh.

The only thing I liked at this time were Scarlet’s invasions for the champ farming. Made a shed load of gold with this.

I like things to improve my characters and make gold. Is there any of that? Any good loot from stuff, or large bags or something?

well Pavilion was all about loot- it was a farmers gold making paradise

if you want to improve builds/skills on individual characters- Gauntlet was all about that

Also defeating Liadri- the final fight in the Gauntlet gave you essentially the most exclusive and coveted mini in the game- I die of righteous envy every time I see a Liadri mini

Sounds like the Pavillion is just the thing for me. Thanks.

Don’t get your hopes up on the Pavilion being the same loot generator it was last time. I am sure it will be considerably nerfed. Besides, the main loot was in the form of T5/6 mats, not actual gold. So, you will need to decide if you want to sell these at reduced prices or hang on to them.

Also, last year while the Pavilion/Gauntlet was going on, we had Scarlet’s invasions at the same time. These spawned hordes of champs with all the associated loot and were a huge source of income.

So much gold flooded into the game during this time, the current economy still reflects this.

How to fix Tequatl and 3 headed wurm

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: bri.2359

bri.2359

Anything is easy if all the players know what to do. The knowing part is the factor you can’t control when dealing with 150 players on a map.

That’s why there should be people who would explain the strategy to the rest and try to organize it for the rest. Just throw in some useful advice and hope for the best.

Experienced players explain things all the time before Teq and Wurm.
The problem is randoms do not follow commands!!

All the randoms do is spam mapchat with “Is this an organised attempt?” before the events. Then proceed to go AFK and/or ignore instructions. Best are the ones who think they know better and start arguing with commanders. We see this every time TxS does Teq and Wurm.

. And give the megaservers a chance to be further honed and tweaked in upcoming weeks/patches, they’ve only been around 3 weeks and people complaining over Triple Trouble not being possible to do anymore must be doing something wrong. TxS still do it on a regular basis.

What makes you think megaserver will be " honed and tweaked in upcoming weeks/patches"?? There is nothing to indicate this will be the case, only some vague mention of “in the future”, and we all know what that means …

Given the state of the game since launch, if/when Anet ever gets around to fixing megaserver issues, it will be in the time frame of many months, if not years, and most certainly not in weeks.

As for the Wurm, yes TxS still does it, but not without having to deal with many difficulties on a daily basis. We have already lost members, with some quitting the game entirely because of this, and many others are getting very fed up.

Slayer Achievement - Giants?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: bri.2359

bri.2359

There used to be a guild (EU server region) for doing just this event in the Toxal Bog to help players get the giant slayer achievement.

The idea was to party up with other members of this guild from different servers whenever you wanted to kill some giants. You would then guest and port each other around doing this event in a cycle from server to server.

Now with megaserver, that method is impossible. Brisbane is not a popular map so the chances of spawning a different map after you kill the giants is very unlikely. You will need to wait for the event to either fail or succeed before the UNIT golem re-spawns. This can take up to 20 min making this painfully long process.

Hopeless Tequatl kill attempts

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: bri.2359

bri.2359

OP, Teq does not need to be nerfed.

Do you come prepared with consumables like ember powder, pet whistle, turret seeds and know when to use them?? Do you use p/v/t armour on attack zerg or zerker armour while on turret defense?? Can you dodge, or know how to stack on a commander, or follow instructions??

If you answer ‘no’ to any of those questions, then you will fail Teq every single time you try. All it takes to kill Teq is 45 players knowing what to do. That is all, 45 players.
This is how you organise:

East turret defense:
10 players (all zerkers) in 2 parties of 5. Any more than this will spawn champs. One party at the shipwreck, the other at the wp. Kill mobs when they spawn, kill fingers when they spawn near the turrets. When defend batteries phase starts all go to North battery.

West turret defense:
10 players (all zerkers) in 2 parties of 5. Any more than this will spawn champs. One party on the hill near the shipwreck, the other at beach. Kill mobs when they spawn, kill fingers when they spawn near the turrets. When defend batteries phase starts all go to West battery.

Attack zerg:
25 players all using p/v/t armour. 4-5 mesmers on fingers, 4-5 guardians with WoR and stability, no hammers! Ele’s drop ice bows and fiery greatswords during Teq vulnerability phases. Warriors bring banners. Always stack on commander, dodge poison fields, waves, use stability. When defend batteries phase starts 10 go to East battery, 10 go to mega-laser. Remaining 5 take care of any fingers. If champ krait spawns at mega-laser all mesmers attack it and call for reinforcements from other defense parties if necessary.

At battery defense it is not necessary to kill the mobs, only aggro them so they don’t attack the battery. On North battery make sure you stomp all the grub holes, you do not want grubs to spawn. Watch the timers and battery health bars, stay at batteries only as long as necessary, no need to kill everything.

During Teq vulnerability phases, all turret defenders join attack zerg for a bit, then run back to defense positions before next mobs and fingers spawn.

Repeat this for each phase. For final attack dps everyone use consumables and ele weapons.

Easy peasy …

EDIT: Just to add, if more than 45 players at the event, all the addons join attack zerg. Do not send more to defense as this will spawn champs. If anyone dies, do not rezz, they must wp then swim/run back to the event.

Yes, I pulled The Legend out of the forge a few months ago.

I kept it my bank for a bit while deciding what to do with it. I already had some of the gifts, mats, clovers, shards, etc. to craft Biofrost, but not have the unidentified dye and Arah tokens.

Since I do not particularly like Biofrost, and it does not fit my guardian’s ‘look’ and my mesmer never uses a staff, I could not be kitten d to run Arah that often for the tokens or waste gold buying unidentified dye.

I posted it on the TP at a higher price than the then current highest sell listing. It sold after 2-3 weeks with a net return of 710g. Never spent this on anything, so it just added to the pile of gold I have.

I think they’ll lose less people than you think, because I think more people like the megaserver than is immediately apparent on these forums in particular. Plenty of people love these changes.

And many who don’t will get used to it.

There was a mass exodus from this game during the ascended gear, and though it hurt the game short term, it looks like the game has full recovered. This exodus won’t be nearly so large, and won’t hurt the game nearly as much.

I am in the EU server regain, and far more people hate these changes than like them.

And no, the many I know who do not like this will sooner leave the game, rather than put up with this nonsense.

GW2 had run it’s course for many players I know even before this patch. For some it was only the notion of some sense of community, or meeting on TS to do events like Teq and Wurm that was keeping them in the game.

Communities have been destroyed and the mufti-server guild alliances formed to the difficult open world bosses are struggling with a stupid time schedule and the pains of getting guildies on the same map to do these events. This represents over 10k players across the EU/NA server regions. Add in the 10K RP’ers, and you have over 20k kittened off players, who could all leave.

Also, now there are other games out or soon to be released for players to move to, This was not the case during the ascended introduction fiasco. In fact, I predict the exodus from the game over megaserver will be far larger than the one over ascended.

Look PvE was dead on many servers, thus the reason Anet made these changes, You really the game can afford to loose so many players at this point in time??

By all means, carry on in your state of denial and rosy world of GW2 bliss.

Serious Griefing being done at Lyssa

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: bri.2359

bri.2359

Yup, it might take you longer than tagging one capture event, but either way, you ‘earned’ the trait.

No, you only earned the gold for your spent time.

Because if you spend the equal amount of time doing the capture event, you get the same gold and the trait.

Sorry, but I have done Lyssa capture many times before, The rewards from doing this one event are certainly not the same as you would earn doing dwayna and all the the other events and in Malchor’s combined, along with all the other activities I mentioned. You are being foolish even to suggest such a thing.

I like how constructive and objective you are.

I don’t know what game you’ve been playing, but the worst loot you can get (apart from the Eye of Zhaitan chain probably) is contested Dwayna’s chain – too little trash mobs, a semi-boss and a boss, boring and fairly long Malchor’s escort.

Contested Lyssa, on the other hand, has 3 seal capture-defence events with tons of trash mobs, and if done one by one (as I always did, and successfully commanded it when felt like it), it provides a large amount of loot. Aaand you get bonus loot if the seal defend events pop up during Lyssa stage – as they usually do and if players are smart enough to attend those. At least that’s what it used to be before the patch.

That said, you’re totally missing the point… When you do event A you get gold and a trait; if you do event B you get gold; if you spend the gold on the trait after it, you just lost.

You are missing the point, and it would help if you bothered to actually read what I wrote,
Here it is again:
“The rewards from doing this one event are certainly not the same as you would earn doing dwayna and all the the other events and in Malchor’s combined, along with all the other activities I mentioned. "

here is a link to all the ML events:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Malchor%27s_Leap

If you insist on saying the Lyssa capture event gives out more rewards than all these other combined events in ML, then I do not know what to say …

I have a guild of 160 and have yet to talk to a single person who doesn’t like the megaserver. Not one.

I am in a multi-server guild of 1000+ and not one person I have spoken with likes megaserver. Not one.

OP, here is a suggestion.

Instead of complaining, join the defend the event, do the Dwayna temple event, do some other events in Malchors Leap (there are lots..). Harvest the nodes, get the little chests scattered about, do the jump puzzle, then sell all the mats you find/loot and by the trait you want.

Yup, it might take you longer than tagging one capture event, but either way, you ‘earned’ the trait.

Daily Orr?

Yes, I too am aware that it’s not hard to get those 5 categories even now. But the point remains: why remove variety and options?

The reducing of daily PvE categories is one issue, the introduction of an Orr kill daily is quite different.

For the past 12-16 months Anet has systematically got players to leave Orr through constant loot nerfs, event timing nerfs, etc. Orr was left to the risen, only node harvesters bothered to go there. or some die-hard champ farmers.

Now Anet locks trait options behind Orr temple clearing events, which are now constantly defended resulting in map chat rage, and introduces an Orr kill daily. The more this game changes, then more I am convinced it is run by people with no vision for the game they developed.

Guild Alliances on Upcoming Patch

@hedix,

TxS managed to successfully do Teq and Wurm last evening. It took a lot of effort to get everyone who wanted to do these events in the same mega map. Those who arrived late, were out-of-luck once the mega map we created filled with randoms.

It reminded me of when the events were first introduced, when everyone was flooding the maps for attempts.

Once all the idiots who were claiming Teq and Wurm will be easier to do with mega maps realise that mega maps makes these events more difficult, they will soon give up and leave these events alone.

I just hope the gaming press picks up on all this megaserver rage and Anet/NCSoft get vilified for doing this.

This was a blatant server merge that went horribly wrong. I suspect many will leave this game with a very bad taste …

I almost fell out of the chair when I saw Orr kills in the list this morning …

After all the nerfs to Orr over the past 12+ months, now Anet wants players to back there to do a daily??

This boggles the mind ..

Whats a condi build?

in Players Helping Players

OP,

Some mobs have very high resistance to direct damage, so condition damage is the best way to take them down,

Certain classes like necromancers and engineers, are better able to provide condition damage though traits and weapons selection, thus the term condi build ..

Condimancer sigils?

in Necromancer

bri.2359

This is for PvE only and specifically for doing the champ husks at the 3-Headed Wurm event.

scepter – sigil of bursting
dagger – sigil of corruption
staff – sigils of fire and force

This is with a 6/6/0/0/2 build
Armour – carrion, runes of the krait. (had been using scavenger runes)
Weapons and Trinkets – all rabid

Sword/warhorn and jungle stalker for group might with snow leopard for backup, Keep cats on passive. Send in to attack when there is no AoE

Trait for spotter and enhanced spirts, run with frost spirit, signet of the hunt and RaO.

Anything else is a waste of time.

What?? All maps are now mega maps??

I thought this would be months away, and not now …

I fear any organized Teq and Wurm runs this evening (in the EU) will be a mess …
