Bring back: ‘Gamer’ title + MAT’s!
Throw out: Hotjoin!
You got the enjoyment of the product.
EOTM is not WvW!!!
If you are worried about spies, they’ve been in WvW since launch!
If you are worried about siege trolls, they’ve been in WvW since launch!Yes this allows there to be more spies, but they still have to level to 60 to get access to WvW and even EOTM.
So if those people are willing to waste gold craft leveling so be it, the impact it will have on real WvW will be minimal, if even noticeable as there are already spies on your server!
There is a huge difference between a spy account which cost between 10 and 20 euros and a spy account which costs you nothing….
Most of the players in WvW have a lot of Tome of knowledge (from daily or PvP) and no reroll to spend them.
Step 1 : create a free account
Step 2 : choose the server you want to troll/spy
Step 3 : send 60 Tome of Knowledge from your main to your free account
Step 4 : click 60 times, go to WvW
Step 5 : enjoy the fun
Tome of knowledge is account bound.
F2P cant comment on these forums… So the feedback wont reach anet. :p
Didn’t someone mention it said “Limitless adventure”? Would be weird to have an asterisk next to it… unless it’s a small bait and switch.
The game doesn’t have limitless adventure right now. Lol. That’s just advertising talk. Shorthand for doing the same events over and over again.
No game has….
I just love the concepts of those three classes. It all fits really well, skills, traits and the overall feel. In comparison the dragonhunter and tempest are a bit lacking conceptually.
Numbers and such can be changed and will be changed as seen with the BWE’s feedback.
This is what I saw today logging into world selection. Tier 1 Full Tier 2 full and high Tier 3 high medium Tier 4 Medium Tier 5 Medium Tier 6 Medium Tier 7 Medium Tier 8 Medium.
So according to the current population calculations tier 8 has the same amount of wvw activity as Tier 4 and into Tier 3. So really anybody in those tiers want to tell me if you can only get a group of 3-5 together on any boarderland most nights at primetime because thats what we got in tier 8.
Full-Very High-High-Medium-Low-Very low stand for certain thresholds. The system probably has a very low one for medium as its used the most over the different tiers.
You can’t compare servers because the system doesn’t compare, it just looks at the absolute numbers (I’d guess).
Thats why you see FSP flipping from full-very high and back again a few times the past few weeks because they’re hovering around that certain threshold.
They probably don’t want to include low from a more psychological point of view as people wouldn’t go their. Unless ofc they’d make it free to transfer to low servers.
Even extremely popular games like LoL don’t have much different modes, instead they mostly rotate some gamemodes.
GW1 also suffered from too many gamemodes. Hero battles got removed eventually, team arena’s were pretty much dead, etc.
Every new gamemode competes with the other modes. Population is already a big issue and it would only get worse.
If they implement arenas then you’d want them to balance with arena’s in mind too? A lot of kitten would be unbalanced in that mode.
And no, the mere fact that they’d implement arenas wouldn’t attract enough people to outweigh the population split over the different modes.
Moreso, GW2 aspired to be a competitive game (“esport”) and you’d like to focus on one gamemode in order for that to work.
I prefer a good competitive infrastructure over new gamemodes.
More improvements coming with our next release. As always, I’d love to hear if anyone notices an improvement.
Sorry Bill but your post just shows how you havent even read the the last 3 posts before yours before posting, yet you claim you’d love to hear from us?
More lag than ever before, more disconnects than ever before, both since the release of these so-called fixes.
A lot of the improvements so far haven’t been very visible to players.
I think this is the only true thing we’ve ever heard in the WvW forums from a red post!
We have not seen any improvements, but we have seen things get even worse!
Not forgetting, where did this new login page come from?!
To me it looks more like a phishing attempt!
The lag came after the +10 man per side change, not after the actual back-end changes that happened a few days before that change.
The biggest question I have is: will it be 8 or 10 player?
Or 15. The leak on reddit suggested 10 or 15-mans.
it should not come as a shock to any of you when you see a player with 10% winrate walking around with that PvP exclusive legendary backpiece.
I’m fine with this, skins and such should be earn able by anyone who puts in the effort, it’s a PvP exclusive because you need to do PvP to get it. Give leaderboards/titles/badges to those who care about win rates.
PvE legendaries also don’t require skill, just playing enough.
No sry. Time is rewarded enough already. Needs more emphasis on ‘skill’.
Split the queues and you solve quite a bit.
Yes, you could open up your team to boost some players but you’ll only meet teams in that queue so it should be harder to boost someone.
And stronghold/conquest doesn’t seem to be split either from a league/guild leaderboard perspective. You’ll have options to farm stronghold or conquest and get to the top.
Either your mmr isn’t as high as you seem to think it is, or you are being paired with lower mmr players to balance the match out. Either way, being separated in League Divisions should fix alot of this when HoT comes out.
But it won’t?
It’ll still be possible to be matched up with and against other division players. There’s no mention of that changing or putting any hardlimits in the queue system.
I was going to buy it anyway.
But leagues, while an exciting thought, as of now doesn’t look that attractive.
No changes to the queue system makes it a better farm and shows slightly better progression and that’s it.
Why would you allow two people playing together/teamed up to be allowed in Solo queue.
Why would you allow anything else but a full team in a teamqueue? Yet that’s something that a lot of people want.
I realize that’s for population issues, but still.
Don’t you think you will only be paired up with people in the same tier, and mmr won’t factor in as much? That way losing a bunch means you won’t win any easier. You also will have a hard time getting to the top this way since near the top, losing drops you tiers.
The blogpost said you can have matchups between divisions though. You’ll be able to win a pip if you get a good score even if you lose, just like the current system.
I don’t like the reset system which basically means no matter how far you go you will be reset back to 0 eventually and be put back with the new players and have to build themselves up again – is that how it works? Because if so, I am not a fan of that.
I also hope they don’t bring back Tribal armor set for pve’rs to farm and claim as if they had been there before the pvp change- I hate farming but I achieved what I wanted before the change and still PvP regularly, but I feel it is TOO easy atm- and maybe.. maybe this change will be okay? idk I still don’t fully understand it I am just expressing how I feel about it.
The reset concept in itself is good. Maybe they shouldn’t do a hardreset though. Set people back 3-4 divisions instead? (like hearthstone)
With this system the faster and safer way to gain better division and pips will be going with a good team. More team mates you have, more chance to win the game you will have because you can control more variables.
This will have a consequence for soloque experience, basically always you will have a partial premade against and in your team, so it all depends on if you have the better partial premade team.
Soloqueue experience will be really random and probably a nightmare, this is inevitable with a shared ranked queue.
But soloq hurts the teamq experience too. It just makes it a farm.
You get a streak of luck with the matchmaking and you just progress your way to legendary while only haven beaten solo’s.
There won’t even be a hardlimit so it seems in the matchmaking in regards to the divisions. You’ll still be able to fight starter division guys as a legendary division team.
There will even be an incentive to sell spots and boost people which is entirely possible in the new system.
The guildteam leaderboards are more of the same. How representative is it when all you do is beat soloq’ers, etc?
How representative are both systems (both league and guildleaderboard) when they mix both stronghold and conquest, which are two completely different gamemodes?
How will this retain people? The argument that they can change it when the population grow doesn’t hold up, imo. At launch and the weeks after the population will be at it’s height and it’ll either grow from there or it’ll drop down. Without a working queue system it’ll retain as bad as it retains now.
Plus, Anet is notorious for waiting long to reiterate on a system once it’s shipped.
This seems like an improved progression and rewardfarm structure. But without any changes to the queue’ing, a split between SH and Conquest (i know queues are split but the league/lb’s aren’t) and even hard limit on divisional play, it won’t succeed.
Unranked should all be mixed together.
Ranked should be league/teamLB split between stronghold and conquest.
Ranked should be solo/duo (not a chance that this won’t have decent queuetimes, we have seen this in the past) + teamq (this is the most difficult one, b/c it needs to be attractive. The ideal system would be only full teams/premades).
Maybe copy paste this in one of the other threads. Otherwise it’ll be all over the place.
Anyway, I couldn’t agree more.
Anet plis
I started a thread already but might be good to keep things in one thread.
Copypasta:
Not much new information sadly.
No mention of the queue system, no mention of a league/LB split for conquest/stronghold. No mention of hardlimits in MMR (e.g. impossible for starter to go up against legendary, etc.).
It all looks good, but crucial information is lacking.
This system will just be a better farm with a bit better progression then now which will still reward time over skill.

Monthly or weekly? It was the weekly yesterday, no?
You’d kill off your high-end teams pretty quickly when barring them from the only tournaments with monetary rewards.
For the love of g*d do not remove hojo rewards, do not remove hojo button.
Hotjoiners will ruin what little discipline people have in unranked/ranked matches. There needs to remain a practice area. Once they are comfortable with their abilities, they eventually get sick of the flaws of hojo and graduate to unranked/ranked on their own.
Let them progress naturally not force them.
Leagues will probably be ranked only. All hotjoiners that are in hotjoin for the rewards will go ranked to try and get atleast a few divisions of rewards.
Hotjoin is such a poor experience that people either quit pvp or they become a true hotjoin hero, which shows when they join unranked.
They can practice in unranked too, and they’ll learn quicker.
If matchmaking works better, you shouldn’t notice them.
Pfff, the damage has been done imo.
Last time we saw that they removed the practice button. That should be enough. People won’t find their way that easily to hotjoin anymore.
As long as team q has the same rewards as solo q, we’ll be fine. Otherwise, we’ll just end up reinforcing Anet’s partiality towards pre-mades.
Partiality towards premades? I don’t get that. How so?
Both soloq’ers and teamq’ers are kittened in the current system. You think people like to farm solo’s?
And like I’ve said before it is still a teammode/game. There should be partiality towards premades/teams (imo).
Or play ranked?
I don’t there will be more full premade, i think there will be more duo/trio queue so soloqueue/duoqueue it’s necessary to full a team. The big problem is when you face an entire 5 man team against random composition. This is imho the biggest issue.
Only solo/duo and full team in other queue. Better rewards for full team queue (Guild LB’s seem to kinda adress this but I wouldn’t mind better league rewards too).
Trio/Four mans just need to advertise to get 1/2 more people to play the full team queue.
This is what I’d like to see. I’m afraid Anet won’t do it for population concerns especially for the team queue but I’d say go for it and take a risk for once.
I haven’t seen people advertise for premades in a long long while. This while GW2 pvp (conquest and stronghold) are obviously team based and that’s where it shines too.Honestly i had great games with trio queue involved in the matchmaking. Like trio vs trio + 2 solo or a 2 duo queue. And i think the Anet idea is giving good space to trioqueue or partial premade in pvp leagues and they designed the team leaderboard to be 3+ and not only 5 men.
The big issue is when you are on extremes of roster size, like a full solo against a full premades or 4 men against soloers. This shouldn’t never happen, the match is really not fun and your chance of winning is really low.
This aspect i think it could be fixed in the matchmaking formula and i hope they will do it.
Keep in mind we’ll have a strong queues separation with HoT, 4 queues in total (strong/conquest unranked + strong/conquest ranked). Adding more queues separation is not a really good idea, probably the better way is to improve the matchmaking algorithm.
I think they will make some modifcation to matchmaking algorithm to consider your league positions and i hope they can add more filters to avoid bad roster size situations.
I know. Stronghold kinda poses a bit of a problem atm. :p
Anet will want to push stronghold which I have no problem with. The queues will be split as we’ve seen in the tests. But I hope they’ll also split the leagues + leaderboards for them. Stronghold and conquest are very different and meshing them together in leagues/lb’s will invalidate them quite a bit (imo).
I can live with duo/trio’s in teamqueue, I guess.
Automated tournaments (if they ever consider adding them) could be nice then to be purely full team-queue.
Anyway, I hope they address this in their blog tomorrow.
Once again EU fan boys can’t handle the fact that NA rocked your world. We might not have any competition but you can’t deny Abjured outplayed your best teams. Now continue with your crying about how they used “cheese” to win…and Abjured will still be carrying the trophy home.
They outplayed them.
I do feel like both TCG and Orng really underperformed too. (Which doesn’t mean it takes away from Abjured’s more than deserved win).More than deserved? Like destiny? Sounds about right from winning straight out of the losers’ bracket for a finals’ double 2-0. Man can only do so little against predestination.
Huh? What?
Destiny?
They deserve the win because they played good. I didn’t know this implies destiny. English isn’t my mother tongue.

The problem is team q needs to be rewarding. The gameplay (team vs team) in itself is rewarding, the leaderboards (if they’ll work right) will be rewarding, but I’m afraid it’ll be not enough.
We’ve seen in the past that all the fluff really attracts people however for the past year(s) the game has catered towards solo play.
I think it’ll need a little more umpfh to attract teams/premades.
Ofcourse an Automated Tournament system in addition to the leagues would also work. But we won’t get that. :p

We saw it took ages for a mesmer/thief combo to finish a necro,
Uh no.
All I saw is Nos getting instagib every time the camera decides to look at him.
Watch TCG vs Abjured again. Mesmer/thief burst has trouble getting down anyone, including the necro.
Not really. It’s mostly vamp runes that prevent a clean one-shot.
It’s all a waste of time if they are going to keep the current queue system. It will never work the way it is now.
Solo/DuoQ & Team/GuildQ needs to happen – JUST DO IT!
^
And it needs to be there at HoT launch. It’ll be the biggest retention factor.
To counter the population issues, do it only in ranked. And limit leagueplay only to ranked.
And with stronghold? That’s a difficult one. Conquest/stronghold split is kinda needed as its two completely different things and it would taint the credibility of team LB’s/leagues if it’s just meshed together.
On the other hand it might create more population issues. But I’d say take the risk, we’ll have enough people at launch.
Its a problem but not in the context of WTS. If they don’t adapt or just get outplayed then that’s their fault not cele ele. Its not like they don’t know how strong it is.
I kinda want to glide in a new HoTM. I still want ma glider. :p
needed change, the big downside is that soloq = teamq….. anyone who doesn’t/can’t have a team gets crap
Well, we’ll get a blogpost about it. I hope they talk about queues in it and they have a change planned for them.
from what i read/saw from video so far teamq and soloq won’t be separated :|
is anyone seriously going to try climbing leagues solo? seems like a deathwish.
Yes they will. Why? Because it’s possible and we’ve had a few years of catering to solo/casual play. Teamplay has never almost never been an incentive (except for paid tournaments).
You could argue that by playing in a team you’ll have a higher winrate. But a big part of that is because you’re against solo’s, duo’s, etc.
If this doesn’t change all it does is make it more rewarding to farm. Especially if they don’t put a hardlimit on the matchmaking (only legendaries against legendaries, etc.).

Did people read the Curse post? It sounds like a giant grind. You literally can’t drop from your current league no matter how much you lose.
Here’s the post: http://www.curse.com/news/guild-wars-2/50718-exclusive-gw2-announces-new-leagues-system
It seems like the leagues will basically be farmboards, while guild team leaderboards will be the actual skill-based leaderboard. Maybe that’s a reasonable compromise between casuals and more competitive players, but it’s certainly not leagues in the traditional sense.
If the queues don’t split or change both of them won’t mean anything.
Ele is too strong.
But did it matter in the context of this WTS?
Not really, every single on of them knows what’s strong and what’s not. If they can’t adapt, then that’s on them.
Snip
Don’t really understand what you’re trying to say. So we’ll leave it at that.
Edit: a word
I really don’t understand Arena Net. Why this over actually doing something for sPvP like adding more maps, better Reward Tracks with exclusive items, or splitting the game modes to let players pick their style of PvP.
Things that have been requested for 3-years are ignored in favor of yet another ‘system’ that’s probably going to have little-to-no long term effect in player retention outside of those already dedicated to PvP.
But no1 wants that.
We want a competitive infrastructure which rewards skill over time.I’d like to see just how wanted leagues really were within the community. I know there’s been a few threads about them over the years, but those threads dwarf the amount requesting new maps, better rewards, and splitting queues.
While leagues are cool, don’t get me wrong, they just aren’t going to change a whole lot in the long term.
Leagues require splitting queues. Otherwise they’ll be a failure. I said that a few comments higher.
Leagues also always come with a reward structure that rewards skill over time. That’s almost a given.
So yeah, those two things are included in leagues if they get it right.
New maps are just fluff. Doesn’t add much longevity. It’s fun for a while but thats it.
New gamemodes? Cool also, I dont mind that much. But they are dangerous for your game, especially if you envision esports/competitive game (Anets words for 3 years).
Why dangerous? Splits your resources, your focus and more importantly your playerbase. Which can make it detrimental to PvP overall.
Even a game as big as LoL adds new gamemodes in a temporary fashion.
Anyway, we’re getting off-topic. It’s about leagues.

We want a competitive infrastructure which rewards skill over time.Dont ever speak again , in behalf of the PvP community ….
Never again ….Just like your old prediction that because of Hotjoins existed , ppl where turned off the PvP side ….. while in reality we had 200 +200 teams sign up for the Lama tournaments , while Hotjoin + 8v8 existed ….
I’ll do what I want. Thank you.
Especially if he concludes that his suggestions add more to PvP. Its more of the same. It didn’t and won’t work.
And wut? Hotjoin has caused a lot of problems in this game. Ofcourse people will sign up for the tournament for a near free mini….
So ye… Your point?

Holy kitten. Don’t start.
Let us have our stuff. You have stuff of your own.
It all depends on queue changes.
Will guilds farm the queue like it is now? Then guild team LB’s mean nothing.
Will there be hard limit on opponents based on division? Only legendary against legendary?
What’s being done against farming? I could just get 2 other guys and sell the other two spots to let them progress through the tiers/pips.
It all comes down to the queues.
Reward skill over time. Make it happen!
Toker duh.
15pzegzzegzpgz
Orng was all over the place. Dunno what happened there. But they couldn’t handle the tankiness that Abjured brought.
Blog on monday.
Some info by Curse Gaming. (an organisation)
I like the badge of your division next to your name, thats awesome!
I do wonder if ppl can also see your badge out of HoTM?
Any dev can respond?
Why not? It’ll be like the map completion star.
Anyway, more info will be released later today by Curse.
Two years ago I’d have been all over this. We were discussing this being in the game over two years ago.
ArenaNet, you guys dropped the ball.
Hey, we can kitten all we want. It should have been in game since launch.
Lets just hope it’s a good system.
