By all means, do look over changes and additions to other classes. We got buffs sure. But let me put it this way, we got a bicycle when every other classes gets godkitten formula one racing car.
We’ve got some nice changes here and there. But I was missing some of the ‘fun’ new stuff, like some other classes got.
They could have at least gave us some mobility, but nah.
To be fair… We still need to see the elite spec. We might get some mobility love in that one.
We’ll never see Automated Tournaments. :/

Trying to achieve the Lavish Llama at the current rate would be, as someone aptly noted, madness! The good news is, next week will bring some concrete details on how you can start earning them at a much more rapid pace through participating in select tournaments.

I thought the opposite sadly: “participating in select tournaments”. Seems to me that they’re gonna keep pushing twitch/third party tournaments.
It’s been a while since there have been CDI’s. However, the recent open beta of stronghold is the ideal moment to start one about stronghold. The beta’s purpose is to gather feedback, get some data, fix bugs, etc.
A Stronghold CDI would complement this beta perfectly. There has been feedback, scattered all over these forums, however this will slow down soon. In a CDI there would be a longer discussion and interaction with the devs to guide us through the discussion.
Tl;dr: Stronghold CDI please!
The game is about making choices, having a strat ready. By making 10v10 and covering every objective you lose quite a bit of that decisionmaking.
This gamemode is so stratheavy that it makes soloq an even more abysmal experience than soloq’ing conquest.
It also makes people QQ about stuff atm that might be perfectly fine in a team vs team environment.
I’d like to see team-only queues for ranked. Everyone has gotten used to soloq’ing but in a teambased game (Carrying is very limited in gw2) it doesn’t offer the same experience.
But this is a very unpopular experience as people don’t want to group up.
Heroes + Lord needs to be part of party UI like in gw1. They’re too important.
Nothing i HATE having to wait in conquest to play this so i havent even got to try it yet
If you want my money you better make this part of guild halls in expansion.
You do know that it’s the only map available in unranked atm? You don’t have to wait through conquest matches.
The focus on tangible objectives rather than score. However the timer still and will annoy me. Pretty anti-climatic.
And it would be ideal to have the heroes/lord be on the party UI when in range or something.
The minimap needs the sea/desert removed (the fluff). Make it more like the LoL minimap. Regardless of zooming/stretching the minimap, about half of it is nothing. It can help the players and also the viewers.

Make em active. This would probably cause them to be even more aids in the right hands but still, it would weed out all the ‘noobs’. The turret gets placed and then you need to press again to actually shoot the turret, etc.
They should just split ranked into solo and full team only.
To encourage full team queue they should offer better rewards and create AT’s (daily, weekly, monthly automated tournaments) that require tickets earned by winning in the full team queue.
Unranked can be solo/duo/trio/quatro/full team.
Don’t let it get to you. :p Just keep going.

It’s difficult to just throw out some tips here and there.
You can always try and team up with others and get on ts. You can learn together and there’ll be less rage.

For the open beta it will be the only option in unranked. So no need to vote for it.
Make everything RNG/Passive —> active (skill ceiling/floor goes up, less need for nerfs)
I understand their population concerns but this would hurt stronghold as a gamemode. Heck, it wouldn’t even be a gamemode. It’s just another map for unranked with a gimmick. In the long term splitting both modes is beneficial for the pvp community.
However, which mode will they support in the future? Will they balance for stronghold or conquest? Will they (finally?) create a competitive infrastructure with decent rewards for stronghold, conquest or both? etc etc.
If these games ever go to time then it is a total fail. And I mean EVER. If they want a 15 minute time level they need to make npcs progressively stronger to ensure the game finishes.
It already happened on the showcase match. I think it’ll happen a lot. We’ll see. A timer is always bad, in any circumstance.
The feeling of working towards an objective in an objective-based game mode and then suddenly your whole plan goes out of the window and the timer ends and its like gg you won/lost even though the game didnt end (the objective wasnt reached or obtained). That alone is enough to kill this game mode. The demoralising feeling when this happens will be so large for casuals and serious players alike.
I predict this game mode will go the way of skyhammer for this reason amongst others.
jeez, the mode has been played by a handful of players and isn’t even in beta-state yet and you already write stuff like that? Your brain goes to dark places very soon.
If the open beta is to gather information and feedback, which I assume, then they’ll probably realize that as well.
Skyhammer is completely different: it’s designed to be a fun map that shouldn’t be taken seriously and is heavily imbalanced in favour of certain classes – everyone knows that and ANet wants to leave it that way. I don’t think they want Stronghold to be a fun little game-mode but the new competetive mode for GW2, so I wouldn’t worry about stuff like that…. at least for another few days.
We agree. But at this point in time we’ve seen the timer happening and the fact that its planned to be in the same queue. So our early feedback is: work around the timer + give it its own queue to be a proper gamemode.
We’ll see how it goes tuesday.

Been saying this for 2 years. I’m afraid Anet wants to keep pushing ESL and twitch. I see no other reason not to do it.
Automated tournaments would be THE solution to get a more competitive scene.
1. Leagues
2. Automated tournaments (dailies, weeklies, monthlies)
3. Solo/team split (only full team queuing)
I hope the stress test will allow a match or two. :p Don’t get your hopes up too much.
Regardless of LB, you still need to split queues into soloq and fullteam queue to truly represent “skill”.
Feedback:
- The timer is really anti-hype. Most games end by timer which is really kitten.
- It also encourages full deffense once you are ahead on gloryNothing bad about that. And timer is anti-hype? That actually depends on how close the two teams are points wise.
Did you see the showcase match? That timer was very anti-hype.
In conquest it sometimes leads to some excitement but even then it’s not the best mechanic (imo)
I dont see why people should be forced, almost 3 years after release, to adapt to a playstyle they do not enjoy. I can totally understand anyone who quits playing WvW because of this.
Y’all gonna quit after every balance patch? In every game? Find another hobby or deal with it?
The competitive scene is small, which is an important part for a lot of PvP’ers. Overall, I think Pvp is doing pretty good in terms of player activity.
There are no competitive incentives. No leagues, no automated tournaments, no incentives to create a team as there’s only one LB, solo experience in a teamplay focussed gamemode, crappy LB, etc.
But we have ESL….. -.-

I’m wondering why you don’t invite all players from the main pvp teams on both EU and NA. Considering you’re advertising Stronghold and the Revenant so much, it’d be smart to give players that fuel the scene the opportunity to test and learn the map and class BEFORE big tournaments instead of having to learn on the fly, or worse, have some teams have access and others not… That’s how any company would do if they were wanting a healthy scene with teams that actually have game knowledge and legitimacy, not just 5 people that like playing together and have a lot of free time.
And yea, I’m pretty kittened not being considered “loyal enough” or not “elligible enough” or whatever.
It’s a stress test. 2x two hours. Chances are you won’t get the entire 4 hours as it’s a stress test.
They didn’t invite all the loyal players. It’s RNG. Don’t be so entitled.
There will be more betas.
- The leaderboards has some good things but it mostly shows the wrong things. I’d say it’s not that hard to fix it, we’ll just have to wait till they do. Probably when a new season starts.
- Competitive scene: nearly no incentive (still). There’s the ultra casual soloq experience and then there’s ESL. There is no reason to start a team even though conquest couldn’t be more teamplay focussed. This will even be worse when we get stronghold.
- We need Automated Tournaments to offer a consistent daily/weekly/monthly competitive experience (a la gw1). In unranked/ranked there’s solo/teams all together so unless you fix that, we do need a competitive team environment.
We need:
- build templates (coming)
- stronghold in a seperate queue (I hope that’s coming or you shouldn’t even bother putting it in the game)
- a solution for team/solo differentiation. (How will leagues work with the current queue infrastructure? How can a leaderboard represent skill at this point in time? etc etc.) Automated tournaments could be a decent work-around.
- better reward infrastructure (leagues with several pvp exclusives tied to them, with a better skill/time reward scheme)
- replay system (a la gw1 again?). Last WTS shows yet again that gw2 is too hard to shoutcast ‘properly’ (it allows for colorcasting but in-depth shoutcasting proves to be near impossible). A replay system would allow the community to see the different POVS, to analyze the games, etc.
Soda streaming it, we’ll have to see how long it lasts.

Mufasaprime has come over from WoW and has been streaming it for a week now.
It’s a good thing. Other streamers check each other out and try the game. It’s great publicity.
WTS showed once again the need for a replay system. I don’t blame the casters for the shallow shoutcasting as conquest is way too fastpaced and the action is nearly always split over the map (could use the vid in vids like DPS though).
We need acces to these games and other high MMR games to be able to spectate all the different POVs from the players, etc. There are so many plays, jukes happening in those games which makes it a shame we can’t give those the attention they deserve.
You could make ’em available for a week or two ingame, like the spectator mode in GW1.

We need these games recorded ingame, i.e. replay system. So many plays, jukes etc. that are not being called out/shown, etc.
Not always their fault as it goes way to fast but we need acces to these games from every players POV.

Timers suck in conquest and everywhere else. It’s completely anticlimax. Please find a solution to this.
