Bring back: ‘Gamer’ title + MAT’s!
Throw out: Hotjoin!
Glad there are still popcorn-worthy threads popping up. Thought things were going to well for Anet.
We don’t know whether or not there’ll be more dungeons, fractals, hell even raids for that matter. There will be ‘challenging group content’. Might want to wait until they add the details about what they mean with that. Except for raids, dungeons and fractals isn’t something you announce as a major ‘new’ feature.
The new map will play an important role in WvW. It’ll be an addition rather than a replacement (eg. part of a rotation) of current maps. As to how fun it’ll be, we’ll have to wait. They also said there would be a revamp/fleshing out of the current WvW mechanics. Sounds to me like they’re gonna try and make WvW gameplay deeper. Again we’ll just have to wait for the details.
^ It’s been what? 4-6 months since the raiding CDI and that raid designer ad? Bit too soon to have raids in the game by the time an expansion drops, I’d say. Unless they’ve started working on it a lot earlier.
We’ll see in the coming weeks what they see as ‘challenging group content’.
@Ardenwolfe The salt is real?
Whats not expansiony about it for you? Regardless of the details, ‘cus that’s gonna change a lot. But apparently you have made up your mind already.
Yes, buying it.
It just seems like they want to abandon the old dungeons and fractals, which is a shame. I could understand if they added new ones, but they aren’t even adding that, which leaves dungeon runners in the cold. This will turn away a lot of potential expansion buyers.
It’s not denied nor confirmed. There’s still a chance. Dungeons isn’t something worth mentioning as a new feature I’d think. Raids would have been maybe, but I don’t think they’re quite ready for those yet.
1 new Map, Heart of Maguuma, that is the games first 3 layer map, basically 3 maps in map inside 1 map, cause of vertical increase, rather than horizontal increase of size.
Awesome
You think we’re only getting… 1 new map?
Thats not the ‘real’ gvg. Google gw1 GvG for the ‘real’ GvG.
This will be a Moba meets gw1 GvG gametype.
Who says no new weapon types?
I’m reposting my issue with the TP from a thread I made a couple weeks back. I hope that’s not a problem. My laptop is currently getting fixed so I can’t really try to resolve the issue atm. Just letting you guys know the issue exists for MAC users. Here is the repost:
Before the new iteration of the TP I needed several tries to get the TP to open. (endless spinning wheel)
After the new TP got implemented I still had and have the endless spinning wheel. While I used to be able to reopen it a few times (before the new TP) to get it working, nowadays (after the new TP patch), 90% of the time, the wheel keeps spinning until I try to exit the tp but then the game freezes. It is often accompanied with my screen getting darker (more saturated?) when I know i’ll be getting the freeze.
The only way to ‘fix’ it is to manually shut down my laptop (this is, logically, the most annoying part :p).
Nowadays I only try to use the TP if I’m up for the freeze/reboot, but it’s mostly RNG and it’s not in my favor.
My specs:
Yosemite 10.10.1
Macbook pro 13 Inch (medio 2012)
2,5 GHz Intel Core i5
4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB
Won’t a league system alleviate these issues? If you can only play with and against people in your league (around the same MMR scale), the only thing that will matter is how the placement and promotion matches tie into the system.
However, I still don’t see how a league system will work decently enough with the current solo/team queue mix.
It’ll be an expansion. No rage will come from that.
However, the rage will come from Anet’s definition of “expansion”. No matter what, expect Twitch/reddit/these forums to rage by their take on what an expansion means in the gw2 universe.
Looking forward to saturday.
Good changes.
Shaving only needs to be a tad faster (3 months max).
Someone record twitch chat. It’s gonna be beautiful.
They should bring the underwater weapons to land. Atleast people can see some of the underwater legendaries then.
Anyway GS on ma necro, pls.
13 january the latest (I guess).
So… Afking is a sign of skill.
Kk, got it.
^ But why should we settle for passiveness. Any change from passive to active gameplay, is a win in my eyes. We need to raise the skill cap not lower it. We need to promote counterplay, not remove it.
Well, I’ve never seen it happen atleast. :p Make sure you are set before loading in?
Or just don’t go out of your base? :/
^ We need nerfs, not buffs. Need to combat the power creep.
As we’re making new balance threads every other day, I’ll drop my suggestion here too.
Make it so that we have a little ‘skillbar’ for rune and sigil procs which you can use manually. You can also add an animation then. If you decide to reimplement a global cooldown (to balance air/fire procs), it’ll be visible and you’ll be able to chose which one to use first. This game could use a higher (mechanical) skill ceiling.
Less RNG, less passives. ——> more counterplay, more options.
^ You decide to play the match or afk?….
Good attitude.
A ranked only split would be good. But then they have to go all the way:
No more solo’s in teamq (like it used to be). In fact you should only allow full team rosters.
An incentive to team up (better reward structure + Automated tournament structure with an entry fee of X teamq wins). But I think they’re afraid of the population issues (which we’ve seen has been the major problem in two years of gw2 pvp).
I don’t think you saw how the old system worked. There were a ton of solos in team queue. Why? Two reasons. 1. Avoid the horrible maps of skyhammer and spirit watch. 2. Better rewards
Ehm… Why would you think I don’t know that? I know why there were a ton of soloq in teamq and I said that’s not how it should be….
^ Could you wait, and others with the same idea, with posting until January 24? As you’ve probably read, they’ll announce how GW2 will move forward.
^ For all we know we’ll get some info when they get back in the office. I’m pretty sure they’ll announce that their’ll be a livestream and that we should watch it. :p
Every day the same kitten gets repeated. You’ll have to wait until the 13th of January anyway, maybe we’ll get a forum update before. And by now, we all know what ‘sucks’ but constructive solutions are lacking in all these threads.
“But we’ve told ’em over and over how to fix it”
Well you’ve told ’em the issues over and over too.
We’ll probably get an epic trailer, that’s something we can always count on.

That is not good at all. I used to be annoyed seeing people with win rates below 50% in the top 100. Now we see them throughout the board. This really needs a total revamp
This is a beta ladder, so please take it with a grain of salt. You’re only seeing one part of our plans, and while we do appreciate feedback do please keep that in mind.
You miss the point of why people didn’t like solo queue.
No, I don’t think I missed the point. This is why I clarified, I wasn’t trying to say players hated solo arena (outside what you mentioned). Again, the reasons I mentioned, which at best, are only summary of the team’s reasons. The two big ones (in my mind) were that 1) people wanted a place to play casually with friends, but in a more structured environment than hotjoin. 2) Players had valid criticism of the solo ladder, which would be true for nearly any ladder that is solo in nature because Gw2 PvP is a team game. This is why we shifted away from solo/team to unranked/ranked.
An unranked arena WAS a good idea. I personally enjoy playing there as long as I don’t get spirit watch, skyhammer, or courtyard (alt-f4 is a good way to avoid those). I’m actually ok with the solo queue and team queue being merged as long as 85 percent of my matches are 5 pugs vs 5 pugs. I am NOT ok with it if 50% of the time I am playing people who have queued together.
I’m glad you feel it was a good choice. I’m sorry you’re getting maps you don’t like, but I am happy that people that enjoy those maps still get to play them, all be it rarely. That is not cool that you’re ditching your team just because you didn’t get the map you wanted.
I can look up your account if you want, though most the time people end up surprised the data doesn’t match their perceptions. I really think we should start showing more data to help with this, but I understand the reasons we don’t.
That’s what they said about the removal.
I see you posting in several threads about Rift pvp. So why bother being unconstructive here?
The new system has its merits but it needs tweaking. It’s a test season, so we’ll see tweaks January 13 the latest.
Target priorities, peels, pushes, retreats, rotations, cleaves, stomps, combo’s, point-dynamics, support, spikes, rezzing, communication, etc.
We still need to see dishonor be activated. The system can and will be tweaked some more, to avoid class stacking and unfair matchups (mostly the solo vs team thing) and the leaderboards will be tweaked too to emphasize winning more (atleast I hope so).
It’s a bit too early to talk about rollbacks.
The only issue I see is with the way leagues would work. I’m afraid there’ll only be leagues based on the current system (solo’s and teams thrown together, whereas teams won’t be represented in those leagues but just the individual players of those teams).
Play against the opposing team but also play your team.
Don’t try to be stubborn about where you go, how you rotate. Just react to what your team is doing, it can ease your saltiness.
Anet loves to (try) innovate.
“New framework for how an MMO can grow its universe. The Living World was just the beginning.”
There’ll be an uproar, that’s for sure. Hopefully a positive one. I’m excited to see what they’ve come up with.
Edit: Maybe we’ll know what these guys are doing at Anet —> http://intrinsicalgorithm.com/IANews/2014/04/now-consulting-at-arenanet-on-guild-wars-2/

^ It’s a good concept but it needs fine tuning. It needs to reward wins a little bit more.
A good start might be testing max 1 or even 0 point gains for losses when you beat the odds of winning. Anyway they should have enough data to tweak the system.
^ Are you implying that WoW has balanced pvp? :/

First time posting anything technical related (I’m not tech-savvy) so if there’s something wrong or missing, feel free to add.
I want a season 1 for PvP.
:)
o.O
:(
Just saying. People won’t be afking if there was a surrender button. The people that you get are just obnoxiously trash it’s not even funny. Too many dumb players in solo que right now.
Surrender option would do more harm, I think. Especially because a game only takes 10min on average.
Just report for botting or something like that.
what is GvG like in GW1? Is it just regular spvp but only with guildmates?
Structured PvP between Guilds, where MMR is associated to Guild instead of players.
Well the beauty of GvG is more than the format only. It’s GW1’s gameplay in combination with the GvG format that made it so awesome. (tons of guild halls, body blocking, flag stand, lord itself, the splits, the teambuilds, 8v8, the healing, the overall slower paced gameplay, Death penalty/Morale boost, etc.)
That’s why I’m afraid that Anet might try to cater too the GW1 GvG experience. While I would be excited, I don’t think it would ever feel the same. The gameplay is just too different.
We don’t know. However, you should never expect GvG to be like in gw1. They’re completely different games.
Why can’t those achievs be extended? I liked GW1 achiev system. Extremely grindy if you want too but you get rewarded along the way with titles.
Can’t think of a reason not to have those champion titles go further to (eg.) 5k wins or so, but with a title at every ‘milestone’.
I would think the system would be much improved if Ranked matches were unlocked on a per profession basis, only available when that profession has reached the 200 match Achievement: (Magus, Genius, Paragon, Phantom, Illusionist, Hunter, Shadow, Legionnaire)
Then we’ll have hotjoin arena’s farming matches to unlock ranked?
If you’re gonna do it then enforce the champion titles. But I guess that’s too much and would destroy the queue times.
Underpopulation of zones is not necessarily a game-wide population issue, it’s just the nature of every MMO.
Servers were never a heavy cost for Anet, confirmed multiple times by them and others even.
You sure? It only updates every hour, might wanna wait some more.
Lol, so that’s how pve players view PvP.
Mediguard OP? -.-
Okay, buy a few million players, solely interested in competitive conquest MMO pvp gameplay, the game.
Even then, you’ll get blowouts, etc.
Not sure if troll.
