Bring back: ‘Gamer’ title + MAT’s!
Throw out: Hotjoin!
^ Report ’em for griefing and pray something happens. :p
The new system will take more parameters into account. In order to not lengthen the queue times they probably merged the two systems (solo and team). If pvp gets more popular they surely can split ’em again in the future.
Why are you actually hyped? I’m disappointed.
The season is useless for everyone except the top 20 players.
A mini llama for the Top 250? I already have one, they have already thrown around with them…It doesn’t look like the patch will bring any useful features for me…
They did say these are the fundaments of the league structure. I assume leagues would have a better reward structure with different reward tracks tied to different leagues and scaled time/skill-wise.
But maybe not.. who knows with anet.
Every single topic has been repeatedly talked about in the past two years. Not much to talk about until we see fixes/changes.
So in 2 years , you wanted 8v8 to be removed (and you had in you sig) and now it doesnt count ?
When they will reomove the hotjoins (as your newer sig shows) … which will be your next demand ?
I have no clue what my old sig was. Don’t know where you can see old ones?
Anyway doesn’t matter. As a sig is just that, a signature… not a forum post.
I just replied to the OP. In those 2 years a lot of feedback has been given, about every single aspect of pvp. Lots of problems, which have been talked about in the past, still exist today thus people don’t really feel like repeating themselves over and over again.
We’re all just waiting for the next feature pack.

I’d say a mix of the deep/Urgoz and UW/FoW would be a great raid. UW/FoW for the raid environment (quests, bosses, massive, no set route) and the deep/urgoz mainly for the penalty system it used.
I’d say a mix of ‘guild’ raids and open-world raids would be nice. I see that people wouldn’t mind both. Open-world raids are then the World bosses and mega-events, except with a better logistical functionality than we have now. Guild raids would then be entirely new content (not found in the open world).
I’ve seen many great ideas again! Exciting!
Turning of standard enemy models has fixed the crashing for me.
TP still crashes though.
Well, that’s that then. No VIP.
/thread.
We’ll see the question pop up at the next uproar.
People should stop saying they are new as part of their argument….
This system is meant for players who buy the game since NPE-system went live, i.e. since 2-3 days.
So basically, we’re adopting a policy of “What they don’t know, won’t hurt them”?
That’s a bit silly and dishonest.
So, you know that it’ll hurt them?
The information is out there. I guess you could ask them to update their hardcopies? Or what do you want?
The system wasn’t meant for him. Regardless of age.

Why did it take two days to clarify that there are "bugs’ in this new system?
They didn’t. Colin posted yesterday.
People should stop saying they are new as part of their argument….
This system is meant for players who buy the game since NPE-system went live, i.e. since 2-3 days.
Disclaimer: – There are, obviously, other reasons that cause an early player drop-off.
Overwhelming a new player causes a bad player retention. Why?
- Lots of gaming companies confirm that there’s a great amount of players that drop off very very early. (example: before lv40 in GW2)
- Anet wouldn’t have put resources in this system if they didn’t believe it would create a better retention. There’s a cost (resources) and they want to see a profit (player retention).
Level gating (as a part of the NPE) does a much better job than written tips, /wiki commands, external guides, an explicit tutorial, etc.
The NPE is basically a seamless tutorial which will ‘always’ improve the experience of a new player. Why? Simply because you’re playing the game and the game teaches you without you noticing it.
A LOT of people skip hints, written guides, etc. just because they’re eager to play and they figure they’ll learn it just by playing (trial and error). But this, amongst other reasons, causes a major part of the new players (hence the new system) to get frustrated and quit.
The only caveat when creating these systems: The NPE may not hurt the new players experience, i.e ‘the fun’. But this is something we can’t really comment on. We are all biased as we have been playing, whether it’s 2 years or 4 days, with the old system. We’ve ‘survived’ the trial/error part. But I’m sure for every few players who stuck through, there’s one who quit.
So, let’s just wait on the bug fixes etc. as the only issue at hand is the degraded ‘new character experience’. Metrics will prove whether the NPE works, so only Anet will know.
Then wouldn’t it be better to make this system as a first-character-progression only? I mean think about it. If you have learnt the mechanics already, why teach it again?
This is the one and only issue. This system is meant for new players not alts.
Atm they forced a tutorial experience upon every player. If they can bypass this, all current complaints would go away.
Lv40/60 scrolls have been data-mined before. It would be the easiest solution, though I don’t know if it would be better than letting the two systems coexist.
omg….even Vayne given up hope.
Unless a red post comes in here and confirms we are not getting this VIP crap, this will definitely be rolled out sooner or later.
Man….its kindda hard to see the game self-destruct like that.
They’ve commented on it before. You want them to comment on it every week?
They’ll remove mindless rants.
Anet does read the forums and even the interaction (kinda) improved since a few weeks.
yeah it has some issues for sure, but you do not need gems at all to level. bit exagerating
I know you don’t. I thought it’d be best to exaggerate the topic as much as I could so ANet realizes just how bad this move was.
There are tons of threads by now. You could try and make a constructive post in one of the existing threads.
^ You’re biased. You don’t really know whether you would have liked it or not.
The new leveling system is not meant for you nor us. They confirmed that there are bugs, so it remains to be seen how much of the current system will stay in place for alts.
You know, there’s some other stuff I listed aswell, right?
You could update your post to show it’s not removed….. but confirmed as a bug.
But we love us some drama, eh.
^ Same issue here
Stop talking about how new players experience these new systems. You don’t know, you’re biased.
Only Anet will know based on the metrics.
How do you know how new players react on this system?
Unless you have the metrics, it’s impossible for you, as a biased veteran, to comment on that.
They’re angry because a tutorial experience is forced upon them when they’re creating alts.
Which is understandable.
But the amount of raging, lack of constructive feedback, egocentric/short-sighted/irrelevant reasoning hurts my brain.
The only problem is forcing it upon alts. Fix that and most of the complaints go away.
How to fix it?
1. Either give out scrolls lv20/40/60/80 (easiest but wouldn’t make every complaint go away)
2. Force the system upon new players, leave the pre-patch system for the veterans.
3. Something else?
These PvE design changes don’t respect players ability to learn and adapt.
They wouldn’t have implemented this change if there wasn’t anything wrong, no?
But is it the right solution?
For the veterans (= everyone who played with the old system): No, it creates a tutorial experience for every new character created, which is not necessary. Though some stuff, like the rewards every few levels are good as it creates a sense of progression.
For the new players (= who never played the game before this patch): Only Anet knows. And it’ll take a while for them to gather the metrics, as the influx of new players has slowed down since launch.
If they created this system entirely for new players only (not for alts, etc), would this solve everything? I think it would, as every single complaint is from people who are used to the old system.
So either they let the two systems coexist or they circumvent the leveling process by giving us more tomes, scrolls, etc.
If they’d give you lv80 scrolls, would that make you happy?
You’re not ‘new’, you’ve played for a month. This is created for people who buy the game tomorrow.
The only problem with this implementation is that it interferes with the leveling experience of the veterans (= everyone who got a taste of the old system). I guess, they’ll either let the two systems coexist or they’ll give us so many ‘free level options’ (tomes, scrolls, etc.) so that leveling becomes obsolete. They’ll probably do the latter, which is the easier one.
Whether the system works for new players remains to be seen. The data/metrics is the only way they’ll be able to gauge the succes as a new player often won’t go to the forums/reddit to criticize, he’ll just quit.
The new player experience is focussed on people who will buy the game after this update went live. Even after only 2 weeks of playing, you’re not new anymore.
It’s difficult to measure these changes without letting someone entirely new play the game today without him visiting the forums/reddit.
They should just create two systems → One for a completely new player and one for new characters. I’d say this would resolve most issues.
Crashed in kyhlo + lots of crashes because of TP regardless of the item I search/sell.
I’m fairly certain that around the time of the China launch they said the VIP system would never be added to EU/NA servers.
If it is then I’m going to need a new MMO.
They also said they’ll not introduce the levelling systems from the chinese release to the western client. And they sure kept their promise……..for a few months.
Proof?
They’ll release lv 40/60/80 scrolls soon enough. Together with the tomes, you can entirely circumvent the leveling process while still being able to enjoy the entire game.
I bet 1000g that we won’t have a new pvp mode tomorrow.
Gimme my money!
These things I mentioned apart from the precursor hunt aren’t projects they’ve been working on for 2 years. As what those ‘big projects’ are, we can only guess.
Drop the game for 3-4 months and check in for the next feature pack. They’re working on a new pvp mode, league system, build templates, precursor hunt/craft?, etc. If it’s not in this one, it might be in the next one.
it’s only for leveling….
All this drama makes me more curious for the next two weeks of feature patch info. It’s funny to see the community rage one day and praise the day after.
It seems indeed a bit light for pvp and WvW. Maybe something will pop in the next two weeks but I doubt it.
You know what’s in feature pack 2? Enlighten me.
‘First Team to Reach 250 Win Rate: 84.97%’
Lets hope we get a conquest scoring overhaul or a game mode that’s objective-based and not score-based.
The game needs ladders/seasons, something like that. With the current population it might not be ideal, but it’ll pull in quite a few players. It offers the best incentive, gradual progression and a well balanced time/skill-gated rewardsystem.
There’s just a big discrepancy between time-gated rewards and skill-gated rewards. One armor for just farming, one armor for competing in high-end tournaments. The latter is a skill-gate but it also takes a great effort. Not everyone wants to participate in those as they tend to take a lot of time, etc. etc.
The reward system also works as an incentive. Now there’s little incentive as you can just farm one set. The other set will for lots of people seem unobtainable or not worth the effort.
It’s probably pushed back or we’re getting a surprise later this week but I’m afraid not otherwise they would have done it before revealing the exclusive rewards.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/League-system-dropped/first#post4293328
I hope so to, it’s just the wording and the announcing of the exclusives that worries me. Why announce those and say how we’ll get them before announcing seasons/ladders (if they planned ‘em this release). Maybe they would be separate of the seasons/ladders then, but you need to have some rewarding structure…. We’ll see.
With the recent announcement of the world tournaments and pvp exclusive gear, I can’t shake the feeling that they dropped the idea of a league/ladder system or atleast pushed it back a lot.
Putting in an exclusive armorset is nice and good but you’re putting it behind a time-gate only. Everyone can farm hotjoin/solo arena’s to get it. On the other hand, you put another exclusive armorset behind an ‘extreme’ skill-gate/effort. There is no middle ground and I think it’s that middle ground which is very important. With leagues/ladders you can award time and skill accordingly for every layer and thus create incentive to play more and better which would be healthy for a competitive scene.
Participating in RL events and even the online organized (not automated) tournaments are very demanding for a lot of players. I’m completely in favor of rewarding them with in-game exclusive cosmetics alongside a money reward, with a focus on the latter.
Maybe you’ll surprise us in a later release this week with a league system, but I doubt it.
I’m glad we’re getting something. It’s still a decent step in the right direction.
Anyone agrees on this? Is arenanet afraid to put a (balanced) skill-focused incentive in the game?
You guys seriously think they’ll only give you commander tags and a new mastery?
The April feature-patch only had account-bound WXP for WvW……
I would love to be proven wrong, but there is a precedent for this.
True, but this time they got 1 week entirely focussed on pvp/WvW. Can’t imagine it would stop after 4 different colors of tags and 1 new mastery. But hey, I’m an optimist. :p
You guys seriously think they’ll only give you commander tags and a new mastery?
‘Explosive finales’, I think ‘finale’ is the important word there. Either they’re gonna spice up WvW scoring system to allow comebacks or they’ll give us a new gamemode/revise the scoring system in conquest. As much as it is fun to play conquest, it suffers from snowballing and it’s just not fun to watch as a spectator.
Zam and massivily speak of 150k$…
Depends on what the feature pack brings whether I like that they’re throwing such an amount at it.
It seems that any exclusive skins will be behind these tournaments, which I don’t really agree with. Unless they’ll come out with the league system and a decent reward infrastructure woven in. But I somehow fear that this won’t be the case.
