Bring back: ‘Gamer’ title + MAT’s!
Throw out: Hotjoin!
Hotjoin, the disease of GW2 pvp.
A feature pack every quarter.
Is this something you think, or a dev said it? Not that devs word is actually reliable, but at least it would be better than nothing.

A feature pack every quarter. Next quarter is around the corner. Let’s hope they’ll implement ’em in this feature pack and not the one after.
The game needs pvp/wvw/pve exclusive rewards. It’s a good thing. I do however fear they’ll put this behind ‘real’ tournaments only which would be very limiting.
We know they’ve been working on new maps (modes?). We know that they want to implement leagues + templates. We know that they plan on having a feature pack each quarter. We know that they love gamescom which is 14-17 august.
I think it’s safe to assume we’ll be having pvp-related info in the near future. Whether that’ll be satisfying, remains to be seen.
We’re not getting info because they probably want to release it in a marketing push. We’ve had our chance to give constructive feedback in the CDI’s and in these wonderful forums.
I’d rather have no kitten info/teaser to get hyped over ’till they release the real deal.
We’ll be getting leagues so let’s hope they’ll implement this too.
The problem is and will always be population. The system needs to be scalable and a 5v5 fixed environment, while a lot better, would cause other frustrations (long queue times, etc.)
It’ll be important how they’ll tie in the rewards. Reward tracks are the perfect foundation to build on. We need time-gated and skill-gated rewards with an emphasis on the latter. We need unique pvp rewards (WvW and Pve should have unique rewards too).
I still believe that hotjoin hurts the game but most of the damage has been done already.
Throw in a gamemode to make those people that want ’em happy.
Remove, as much as possible, the RNG in the combat and promote active gameplay. This way we can maybe get a higher skill cap while maintaining the low skill floor.
All these things would improve the pvp experience, imo.
^ They just seem to have listened to the critiques. Let’s hope we get some nice feature additions in the next feature pack (where we’d also see that they’ve been listening).
I love these trailers. Anet is becoming good at it.
If gamemodes is your toppriority then yes. But last feature patch added quite some good stuff for pvp. Some important groundwork for the future.
We’ll be getting info in august if they wanna hold up on their promise of quarterly feature packs. Gamescom is 14-17august which is an important fair for Anet. Now we’ll just have to pray that they listened to the CDI’s and drew the right conclusions.
You guys honestly thought they weren’t working on pvp features?
They said feature packs every quarter (*). So that should be around august. With gamescom being their favorite fair I think we might see the next one around then (14-17 august). So that’s 1-2 months tops.

Didn’t we have CDI’s to discuss ‘stuff’? Maybe they’re just digesting all that info and working on the next feature patch. It’s not like pvp nor pve (except story-related stuff) had lots of dev interaction. I’d say we’ll be getting info around gamescom and we’ll see the next feature patch by then too.
The only problem is the illusion that there’s no content because of the LS approach. If they’d release an expansion every 1.5 years you would burn through it in 1-2 weeks.
Also people keep forgetting the feature packs. We already got one and they said they’re aiming at a feature pack per quarter so that would be 4 feature packs a year + 26 (probably less ’cus of breaks) LS updates a year.
Nobody cares about being good in this game ‘cus it’s flawed and a big chunk of the community left because of that.
Anyway, we all appreciate the effort.
The armor set might be a sign of good things to come. I do hope they don’t restrict those exclusive skins to high end tournaments.
And ofcourse don’t forget the other game modes when it comes to exclusive skins or the outrage will be real (again).
Here is what I would have wrote for season 2:
The zephyr’s were really Tengu using magic to disguise themselves all along. All of their lore was made up vague stuff to make them more plausible. They do have connections to Cantha but have recently held up in “The dominion of Winds” and have been using their four winds event as a way to finance their kingdom in secret, as we know Tengu are weary of interacting with the outside world.
The old tengu lore that says they will make their new home under a star that rises was n’t the domimion of winds but maguuma—the star being the explosion in the sky, a sign or omen for them.
We come to maguuma only to find tengu everywhere and now the style and powers of the zephyrs becomes apparent that it was Tengu mysticism all along. We are still unaware of what caused the explosion, but Tengu believe it is an opposing clan that dissapproved of their dealing with Lions Arch, while the tengu see the explosion as an omen to build their new city here (a starting area in the future for this race.)
It just so happens that the opposing Tengu are corrupted and stand by Mordremoth who is here as well, and before Tengu can make their new home here he must be destroyed.
You can make dry top in a couple days and make this story (which counts for a whole year?). You’re pro, Anet should hire you.
Features and the like will be in quarterly feature packs like the one we had a few months back. If they stick to the quarterly updates then we should expect one in August. You shouldn’t expect any update to WvW/PvP sooner than that.
They need to implement in a way that it boosts the competitive play and rewards the time spent more importantly the skill. This way you cover all the players and create incentives to play competitive and get better. Unique PvP gear should be a must.
Build templates and league/seasons probably in August when feature patch 2 hits. Lets hope so.
Bad players… lol can’t blame that one on Anet…
Yeah, you can. There is no tutorial, or integrated and progressive arena’s. Your first experience is hotjoin. Hotjoin, although fun and serving a purpose, doesn’t lay down any ground work. Most games will instruct you on what the rules, but not how to win. PvP just throws you in with no instruction..let alone concepts on how to win.
I’m sorry but playing at a tournament level requires more than a tutorial or even the dismissal of hotjoin (which I’m all for). It depends on the players themselves. Now ofcourse, this is again partially Anets fault as there is no competitive infrastructure and thus no incentive to improve, etc. There is hardly a competitive scene, hence all the baddies.
Bad players… lol can’t blame that one on Anet…
I wish they have out rewards for predictions. They did in gw1 and that helped create a ton of hype.
Oh my, I loved that system. It was with the zaishen keys rewards, right? Completely forgot about it.
Npcs in HOTM, NPC’s in foefire/forest, mesmer illusions, ranger pets, necro minions. Probably some more.
I had one asc. ring, 2 asc. armor pieces and one precursor drop.
Edit: Got another asc. ring drop.

Lack of incentive, lack of competitive infrastructure.
Competitive infrastructure is all we need. I don’t really like moba’s but LoL’s infrastructure just makes it more fun.
It’s one of the few things that add a skill layer to the game.
Solid foundation. Hope for the future.
^ Thats what I meant. Thank you.
Looks like I have to take back what I said. Sorry Anet, but you messed up. It has been confirmed that you only get 1 piece of armor for finishing a reward track.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/Arah-Path-Armor-Box-Answered/page/2
So now it’s a waste of time. Bye pvp.
Alright. Lets see.
Statement 1: ‘Anet, you messed up.’
Why is that?
Statement 2: ’It’s a waste of time.’
Why is that?
If the rewards are the sole reason that you play PvP then you should go pve. That’s the most rewarding area. You said ‘bye pvp’ solely because you don’t get the rewards you want. Thus implying a farming mindset in a pvp environment. This will most likely hinder your fellow players who play pvp because it’s a fun gamemode. The fun comes from beating other players, the rewards are an extra for your time spent.
Depends on the reasons. Lot’s of things to be frustrated by but also lots of things that are fun.
^ There’s 1.5years of hotjoin mentality. It’ll be hard to change that.
Replace hotjoin by unranked Q, put a barrier on soloq. Keep CA’s without rewards for the community (duels, tournies, training,etc.).
All hotjoin people can farm unranked Q then and maybe learn a thing or two.
Increase the difference between loss and win-reward so that there’s incentive to win. Increase the rewards gradually from unranked, through soloq, to teamq so that there’s incentive to do those.
Well, hotjoin won’t learn them much except the map layout and if they happen to have a decent build then they learn that too.
We just need a decent MMR, that’s all.
You shouldn’t be farming pvp for that anyway. So buhbye.
Do you wanna get stomped by them the first round and have no chance on getting to the second round?
There’s so much misconception. It’s amazing.
Pvp should not be seen as a farm, please. Then you get people afking teamqueue ’cus the loss reward is decent enough.
Put legendaries, pvp armor sets and anything pvp exclusive behind a skill and time-gate.
Time-gate: Your playtime in leagues (when they arrive) will always be rewarded. You’re trying to be competitive and thus should be rewarded.
Skill-gate: Different leagues unlock different exclusive pvp stuff (= not tradable, not farmable in hotjoin, etc.). Increase the difference between loss-reward and win-reward so that people winning are rewarded and there’s an incentive to do so.
For the top players —> specific titles, finishers?, $$$$$, etc.
Anyway, we could use a reward CDI to discuss this.
Telenet, had the same problem past week. But it comes and it goes.
Judged because of your pve level? Hahahhahaha. Haven’t encountered that one, yet….
We need a (pvp) reward CDI. Anet please.
Pvp shouldn’t be seen as a grind though………… Unfortunately this patch introduced this kind of mindset.
I wouldn’t mind another gamemode but they’ll have to chose which one they’ll ‘support’ (in terms of balance, etc.).
I assume they won’t do anything as they’re working on leagues/seasons.
There’s a limit in hotjoin/custom arena’s. You can only do two tiers per day in those. If you want to progress further you’ll have to do Tpvp (soloq/teamq)
There should be a greater difference between the loss-reward and the win-reward.
^ LoL has an insane population though. I don’t know if gw2 pvp can handle two gamemodes. Let alone that they start balancing in favor of both those gamemodes.
The mode has always been 5man. You’re talking about hotjoin. I guess they removed it because it learns the wrong mechanics as Tpvp has been and always will be 5v5.
+1 good job.
15 charrs
Great start, lots of potential. But as per usual, there’s that chance that….they don’t use that potential.
Pvp reward CDI, please.
