Bring back: ‘Gamer’ title + MAT’s!
Throw out: Hotjoin!
They probably lowered the criteria for this beta weekend.
Had 2 fast q pops for stronghold in unranked (<1 minute pops). Two times full team against full soloq.
A hero bugged out when both of ’em appeared on the map. I dueled an engi there and the channel just disappeared but it remained visible on the minimap.
I feel like there should be a change with the channel. Too many times you can just get the channel without it being denied. On the other hand interrupt on hit wouldn’t be good either.
Most people complain that there is too much PvE in WvW currently.
ANet’s response, new WvW maps with even more PvE.
Doesn’t make any sense.
Whats less PVE? No mobs? Should also remove siege then? And delete all the objectives as those are Environment too, right?
So we just need a 80v80v80 blobfest on a flat terrain?
WvW is always about objectives and creating a ‘sandbox’ for everyone to enjoy. Be it roamers, havoc groups and blobs.
No, varying terrain (like that is shown to be done well in the new map) is exactly what the for fights community want them to spend almost all their time on. What no pve means is the environment artificially interfering with fair fights. For example like I suggested making all mobs keep their character models but making them ambients. Also while the idea behind crippling large zergs so slow their movement around the map is nice on paper, if this occurs on large parts on the map it could interfere with small scale fights, being perma crippled in a 1v1 is a death sentence. Other examples are the automated cannons in eotm making absolutely huge areas of the map a no go zone for solo roamers and even when the cannons are mine I don’t like having the huge advantage in my fights. Hopefully you’re starting to understand what I’m getting at.
I understand.
But WvW isn’t fair in its very nature.
I’m having more fun on my necro and feel that I have more playstyle options since the big patch.
Playing support necro in PvP these days. Positive winrate.
They already help them quite a bit. But they could always do more.

imo you should try to increase the player cap cos it feels like im just fighting npcs or running from point to point guiding npcs…. the map feels to big and there is to much things to do for just 5 ppl…
It feels like the map needs a big remake to make the pvp community satisfied… dont even see ppl streaming it…
I like the idea with the lords but the rest is to “mush”… to bee honest a bigger legacy of the foefire with only mid point and buffed lords feels better…
I feel that there’s improvement in the fighting departement. There’s a lot more fighting than in previous iterations because of the changes to supply.
Overtime flat-out doesn’t work.
Pretty much. Every single game I’ve played it either finished with a lord stomp, or ended at 0:00. Haven’t seen an overtime kick in ever.
While I heard its bugged, it should only happen when a Lord is combat. The moment he’s out of combat you’ll win/lose based on score.
Bug or no bug, why is it a factor in concluding a game? Just let the game run it’s natural course.
Why? Because timer matches are the worst thing ever. Even in conquest where it happens less often. In stronghold though it happens a lot more. Its the most anti-climatic thing ever.
Hotjoin was horrible experience for new players and it definitely an improvement getting rid of its button.
Wrong. Given that matchmaking is broken, it is better to give them a place to practice before joining unranked or ranked teams.
Practice what?
You won’t learn rotations there nor will your mechanical skill improve much. The skillevel in hotjoin differs greatly as there is no MMR there. You learn a bit how the map looks and maybe a bit about your class. That’s it. You’ll learn a lot quicker in unranked matches.
But what about having fun?
You can still have fun in hotjoin. Just have to click 2 buttons instead of 1 now.

The positioning provides a bit of skill/micro-managing. No need to dumb down the class. There are other classes that are easy to play.

-> Would be nice to have Lord HP Bar at same UI part where you see your team HP Bars.
Would be useful for foefire too. Add the mist champions there too.
Did they get rid of hitting players while channeling and then the channeling gets interrupted? I could swear this was in the alst iteration, and I am not a fan of it being removed. All warriors or rangers need do is pop stab+no damage and they can just channel away and run.
There is no tactics to channeling defense if you can just ignore the other person, no real reason to secure the mist essence or supplies.
It was always like that. Could use some balancing. But just hitting and interrupting would be a bit too much. You’d never get heroes almost and the game would come to a standstill with bunkering the channels and ignoring the rest.
Very constructive feedback.
Hot join for me was the fun part of GW2, I never started story lines, “farm legendaries” or anything to do with PvE in general. This was my 50% of my daily gaming time in this one particular mode. In addition, I do not have patience to wait in queue. Warframe have my 100% gaming time now, sorry GW2 i’ll just come on for login rewards then.
Play in custom arenas? Which is the old ‘practice mode’?
But thats too hard right? Better QQ.
This is really stupid.
Many of us with real life commitments need to up and leave at a moment’s notice, hence you place hotjoin when you can’t commit to a proper match…
Expect 4v5s to go through the roof…
You do realise that you can still play in custom arenas which is the old ‘practice mode’………………..
He seems fine, imo. Especially with the downed mechanic. Enough possibilities to heal and rez him.
People are forgetting that there would be a surplus of Beginners joining in on Ranked and Unranked play… that faster 30s wait time in queue isn’t going to remedy 3 newbie players on your team.
Thats why (I guess) there have been limits datamined. They’ll probably limit acces to unranked/ranked based on w/e.
I wish it was gone completely but they’ll never do that. Custom arenas still have their uses for tournaments, practice, etc.
Atleast its more hidden now.
Hotjoin has caused a lot of problems for the game. This is a good change.
I’m liking the changes. Flow is better. More focus towards fights.
You seem to be listening, Anet. We (me atleast) appreciate the effort. Lets see how it pans out.
Lets get this mode right!
Instead of dynamic cap, implement dynamic scoring. At its core, WvW is about PPT.
By giving objectives different scores based on population, time held, value, etc. you can avoid the discrepancy (and thus the demoralizing effect) in score by population differences. It would reduce the importance of numbers and emphasize skill.

Oehla, thats a long delay incoming. Hope all goes well.
so the insanely good PvE rewards , even ascended drops aren’t incentive enough? I play PvP because it rewards so well, just like every other part of the game now.
Well, thats just it. We’re looking for PvP rewards, not PvE.
We want PvP exclusives. We want rewards tied to skill and not solely time-investment.
What are you aiming for when you want to build a competitive scence? Solo players are every bit as competitive as pre mades. I remember when they had solo q, they even had separate leaderboards. Now that was competitive.
The only problem was rewards. You can’t disallow soloers in team q since that would mean unacceptable wait times – no one would do it. But if the rewards for team q are higher, I’m always going to solo in the team q.
I’m not saying they should remove the solo experience, hence after 3 years that would be a dumb move. But they should push the team environment more, because that’s where it’s at (or should be atleast).
You can build a team only queue. But you should make it worth it. Otherwise, yes, people won’t join.
But hey, they have a team leaderboard planned. We’ll see how that works out.
If you think that’ll be representative of anything with solo/duo’s mixed in than you’re very wrong.
You’re basically saying the opposite of me. More solo, less team. And that’s not how it should be.
It’s not the money. Anet has increased the money throughout the years and added consistency. Not much has changed in terms of participation.
It’s the lack of a competitive infrastructure. The platform that would create a big mid-level scene, the casual-competitive playerbase. You need that in order to get a bigger high-end scene.
Anet has focussed on low-end and high-end, ignoring that casual-competitive scene. This is the biggest factor for why we have such an abysmal pvp scene (imo).
Look at ToL participation, etc. Just some nice ingame rewards and people are flocking towards it to participate.
Split those queues, give use automated tournaments, a better LB, exclusive pvp rewards, reward skill over time, etc. And voila.
Balance is an ongoing process, people will always be ‘mad’.
What this game needs, since launch, is a competitive infrastructure.
Tons of threads and feedback, but we still don’t have a decent infrastructure. (though slowly but surely it’s getting “there”)It’s a teamgame in its very nature but there is literally no incentive to team up except for some organized tournaments:
Pushing the soloq experience instead of a team/pug experience.Focussing on the casual and the top end, while ignoring the “casual competitive” kept the pvp population small:
Hotjoin harmed the game in a indescribable way (skilllevel of players, ranks, population of other queues, enjoyment of the gamemode, etc.)
Pushing streamed tournaments organized by third parties because thats what esports entails these days. But you need to get there first, honestly. You need a casual competitive scene as a backbone of your pvp.
We don’t want to sign up on a third party platform, deal with all the delays and inconsistency, face the high end, etc.Building a casual competitive scene requires a robust infrastructure:
- Focus on teams. A teamqueue is needed obviously. Better rewards in that teamqueue.
- Automated tournaments (a la gw1). A more competitive platform than the usual ranked queues but it has higher stakes.
- Hell while at it, add a replay system (a la gw1…again) with all the AT’s on it (and the third party tournaments). It could have issues:
- Every system needs a population, which gw2 pvp always had issues with.
But, your decisions and systems should still be focussed on teamplay/queue. Take some risk.
- Add a requirement to AT’s with tickets (sounds familiar eh) so that people still run the ranked teamq’s.
- etc.Anyway, don’t know why I still type this up but w/e.
I strongly disagree with better rewards in teamq. Why should players be penalized or rewarded for a particular playstyle? We need a teamq obviously. But no differences in rewards please. Or else people (like me) will simply solo q in the team q.
Also, we need higher rewards for higher MMR matchups.
In this scenario there would be no soloq in teamq. Only teams/pugs against teams/pugs.
Stronghold/conquest, gw2 gameplay in its entirety, is teambased first and foremost (rotational play over mechanical play).
Why is there so much rage/frustration (regardless of matchup) in gw2pvp? Because you can hardly carry with your individual skill, unless the skill level differs greatly. You depend greatly on your teammates.
Unless they add voicecoms, there should be a hard split between a full teamq and soloq. And ofcourse you need incentives for teamq because that’s what you’re aiming for when you want to build a competitive scene (regardless of ‘esports’).
Will this event be getting streamed at all?
Hopefully we get to see much more content and maybe a few new reveals. Would be awesome.
Beta weekends are great, but we’re now…. 8 weeks (?) since our last spec reveal.
Pretty sure it will. All previous events had streams + WTS will be hosted there.

Remove another incentive to team up?
-.-
We need more incentives to team up, not less. Pvp is already one big solo(casual)fest because of the lacking infrastructure, etc.
LOL at giving Streamers priority over actual WvW players, guilds, tiers. This is nothing but a bad joke of a PR stunt.
Doc is an actual WvW player with a guild in tier 4. Matches your ‘requirements’.
Is he or his guild ‘good’? Not really, probably. Does that matter? Not really.
And this way they grab some extra publicity with it.
It’s only 35 spots.

Yeah, i see it. It’s technically not HoT. It’s technically not a beta, but a stress test, and it’s not on a weekend. And they technically did not even promise there will be any weekend betas at all.
So yeah, Anet again is going to back out of their promises using a technicality.
Great job there.
Lol….. These forums….
Players obtain Turai by default once Stronghold is released, with Grymm available to all players but they’ll need to complete his reward track in PvP. As for Nika, you’ll need to own Heart of Thorns to unlock her. The idea is that ArenaNet will continue to add Mist Heroes to Stronghold in future content updates, with all future ones requiring Heart of Thorns.
Rofl. I smell p2w. Now you not olny lose new class+elite specs if all you do is pvp, but you also lose champions which may give you advantage over enemy team. In b4 gemstore champions, olny 1000gems each.
No plans for gemstore ones, confirmed on reddit by Anet. And they wouldn’t do that anyway.
Locked behind expansion? Pretty kitten normal.
WoW has PTR, balance is still kitten and bugged when they release the patches.
I’d rather get the changes immediately, I can handle the bugs for a few days/weeks.
And it’ll be back at the next announcement.
Who cares about hype, rly…
Yet everyone was complaining about the staleness off the game.
They balance, it’s kitten. They don’t do anything, it’s kitten. They can’t win.
it seems like they just upright stopped the reveals. They WERE supposed to continue after the ventari legend. then just didn’t do it anymore.
We got Guild Halls info and the big patch drop.
Who’s next on your list “making threads”?

Maybe it was planned but got delayed by Anet and the message didn’t get through?
Well I would imagine so, condition damage in PvP is insane right now. You think Diamond Skin is bad? I play a Signet of Suffering Necro. People come at me with their condi builds all day, I just toss their conditions right back at them and let them kill their selves.
Yes, but you ‘kinda’ can play around that, no? I mean I can throw w/e at diamond skin I won’t get it below 90%.
You realize this is not a new trait right?
Browse through all those old threads, do some research.
Well, it’s just that they’re popping up more frequently now. :p
A fix is logging out for 10minutes to let it reset.
Otherwise they do it manually.
And then they’ll patch it soon hopefullyI logged out for 14 hours when it happened a couple of days ago and still didn’t fix it.
Ah k, then nvm. :p I remember a red post saying that but apparently that doesn’t work.

Support necro is awesome in Pvp. <3 <3
Omg, I thought it was something on my end. Yes, it’s very annoying.
Engi has been toptier in PvP since day 1 and will remain toptier.
Well I feel like my guild just got told to go kitten themselves. How lovely.
Is it that bad to use LFG or ask other guilds you know, or w/e? You expect to solo the capture or what?
^ You should try the signet necro build, it’s pretty fun.
I wanna try it but I think it might not be that useful in soloq. :/
