Anyways imo play how you want isnt gone its just they need to reward more evenly for all aspects of the game and add in more content. But you can still play how you want, you’re just forcing yourself into thinking you cant bc shinier ppl are playing in ways you dont like.
Just wondering if anyone can help me out. Im just now returning to the game after a year long (well kinda longer) hiatus and I was wondering if there are any changes I need to know about. When I left there had just released ascended weapons. Are there any new areas/ armors/ weapons/ skins/ levels/ dungeons or anything. For one thing I can see these forums haven’t changed.

i havent stopped playing but i play alot less and i find if i play for two days in a row the second day ill be so bored of the game that sometimes i find myself falling asleep. Ive experienced many parts of the game and ive mastered (or at least have come close to mastering) the things i really like and now all thats left to do is to make more characters but theyre just a pain now. but im planning on leaving in a couple of weeks, theres just so little change in anets mindset especially when it comes to LS. Maybe ill come back when they add some new areas
I dont really mind the stance, but the animation really irks me. It looks like theyre exhausted by the 3rd swipe, while male animation looks cleaner and more powerful. I even gave my guardian a sex change to male because i found myself auto attack more than on warrior (main) and couldnt stand the animation.
Ascended gear was beneficial to the game for other reasons regarding making content not dead as well. Did you ever actually see people doing Temples before it was added?
So instead of increasing rewards they decided to make a whole new tier of weapons / armor just so that people would do open world pve? Or instead of making new content?

If they restore your guild bank to what it was before the hack, all the stuff that had been put in the bank after that point would be lost. Now you’d have more players upset. If they just give you your 25 gold back, then they run the risk of people fraudulently claim their account has been hacked.
I don’t think this is an indication that Anet doesn’t care about its customers — it’s a pretty no-win situation for Anet here.
Isnt there a record of withdrawls and deposits into the guild bank. Couldnt they just look at that and figure out whether it was actually taken out and just give back what was taken. I mean it cant be that big of a deal.
Also to the OP, this really sucks. Although its not that much gold (from my perspective) the principle remains. For example in my guild people have been depositing their minis and if someone were to take them out they could probably have 100s of gold.
yes using reflects and dodging (maybe? havent done the instance that much) and pressing 1 is the hardest thing i do in game. Normally all i have to do is press 1 and w in queensdale where the enemies are 79 levels below me.
OOh i saw one the other. At first i looked at it and said…what a unique and odd creature maybe i should inspect it further. However, it increasingly became annoying. Somehow in the most serious of dungeons before the most dangerous of monsters, the wild and ignorant creature attracted the undead and subsequently killed the small group of adventurers we had. There was even a champion warrior which ran after us after having seen the peculiar creatures cuddly pet….
on mesmer i think its pretty much useless in pve. Guardian uses it sometimes but not enough to justify a bifrost IMO. Necromancer dagger/dagger is supposed to be better.
Anyways i think you should go with ele if you want to use staff and i dont really see why tpvp is a requirement because you can just make another character for tpvp. You cant use bifrost there anyways.
Edit: after reading the thread i posted the link to staff is a pretty great weapon on elementalists and is the best dps for eles. I definitely recomend you go with elementalist if you want bifrost because that way you will be able to use your weapon all the time (no swap) and will be useful.
No it’s not. The point of berserker gear is risk vs. reward
And the current mechanics make it so the risk is the same for everyone, but the reward is greater for zerkers. Something’s obviously not right.
Zerker guardian gets one-shotted by Lupicus, PVT guardian can take two hits.
And the difference is academic on anything less than a direct LAN connection to the server.
You mean to say that the difference between one hit and two hits at lupi has to do with your internet?!? LOL no. I normally do arah on warrior but have now started to take my zerker guard which has about 1/2 the health of my warrior and can only take one hit (as in i can get hit once but then i have a very measly amount of health left unless its a swipe then im dead) while my warrior can take two. Its alot harder when i make a mistake and its definitely alot harder than a pvt guard.
oh and my internet connection is pretty bad, im just used to lupicus.
So I have been trying GW2 for the first time over the last two weeks.
I have tried every class and every race except the salad people. I can see where the game has it’s strengths and weaknesses. Granted, two weeks doesn’t give you a huge perspective.
The only class that I seem to be able to play at all is the Guardian. To me, this is a major disappointment.
I have been an MMO player for years, from Ultima Online to Everquest, Star Wars, RIFT and WoW, I have played a lot. I used to raid high end content in WoW a few years back, but now I think I am becoming “that guy”. The guy who is mediocre or bad at gaming.
Guild Wars 2 should be in my wheelhouse. I should be excelling at the game. Instead, I find myself dying every night at least a half a dozen times. The game has continued to be frustrating to me. Meanwhile, I am surrounded by a really nice community that seems to be doing well.
So what if you find that you are “that guy”. Is Guild Wars 2 a much more difficult MMO than the others? Or am I at the end of my hobby?
Couple of things that helped me:
Set up a keyboard setup that lets you hit everything you need quickly.
learn to dodge and control enemies and learn the timing of attacks. You would be surprised how many of the attack timings are the same. Watch some videos about dungeons and such and figure out some rotations.
also you’re only 2 weeks into the game you re not going to be good right away. Just give it a bit and the higher level you are the better the game is. Honestly while leveling my ranger i thought i sucked at it but when i was lvl 80 i got a hang of it and im actually pretty good (sword warhorn op)
Another lie . Guild wars 1 lasted for 8 years with 0 gear
Progression . Gear treadmil is useless .
But it had skill progression and some of that progression you had to level and grind for. And don’t tell me people didn’t…because people did.
You really cant prove gear treadmill is unnecessary while using gw1 or really any other title as an example. It is mostly about which community plays the game, and the only real way to see if gear treadmill is or isnt necessary is through numbers of players logging in before and after the new ascended addition.
GettIng Dusk is purely a cosmetic thing. I don’t see why that’s different to what they promised.
Getting Dusk is, but getting Twilight is not. Twilight has higher stats than an exotic.
I very much doubt people get Legendaries for the stats. You can max out every profession to 500 with a fortune to spare with the money needed to get one.
its not that cheap to get ascended weapons though. For me im going for a legendary and im not even attempting to craft at all because of the cost. I mean its like 150g per profession and i would need two of them. Weapons for my 3 main characters would be liek 50g per not including grind for dragonite and i would end up probably getting 12 weapons…..its very expensive and grindy.
Everyone needs to start looking at GW2 mechanics in context of GW2, and not in the context of every other themepark MMO.
This game uses a completely different business model, design philosophy, and combat system than what we were fed for the past 10 years. There’s no in-game reason to get ascended gear besides the standard stat increase from moving up a rarity, and getting an infusion slot if you play fractals.
If you feel like you need the best in slot items or you’ll “fall behind” the gear curve, you’re thinking in terms that the game isn’t asking of you.

I don’t understand how this is such a difficult concept. If you don’t like the established way of doing encounters, start your own group with a description of how you intend to play. It’s been over a year since release, and I don’t get why people are still surprised they’re getting kicked for going against the grain.
Sorry my bad i shouldnt have said “like this”. let me just elaborate on what i meant. I was trying to say that theirs no need for a forum post about this kind of kick because it sounds like he might have deserved it and also its a really quick path so he didnt lose out on much. The kind of kicks that deserve a thread are like when sellers get kicked because of idiots who like to enforce their morals and lose out on alot of gold and time.
Getting a cool skin is not a grind .
Getting better stats it’s a grind.
They are both grind just one is not needed the other is.. if you want to progress in the game at all..
Yeah what anet probably meant when they said no grind was that unlike other games you wouldnt need to grind in order to progress. However ascended weapons are a necessary grind. People like to say its optional but what about the infusion slots. If you want to do higher level fractals then it is absolutely necessary for you to have the extra ar (well if you want to do even level fractal). In wvw it is also pretty much necessary and in pve having second tier stats is…lets just say even though its optional in pve outside of fractals with ascended armor it might become necesary for groups.
so your logic is that if i don’t like someone, because he’s wearing yellow dye and kitten yellow dye, i am allowed to kick him from a fractal 48 run just as jade maw is about to die without consequence. best logic. #1 logic. i remember when i was in high school.
anyway the point, once again because it is apparently too complicated for you, isn’t about my particular run. my run was just an example. i’ve seen it happen so often that it warranted the 30 seconds of my life to make this thread. the thread is about how i can report people like you for kicking at the end of a dungeon because “oh i didn’t like that person”. the thread is asking anet what’s being done about kick griefing.
When you join a pug take a screenshot with peoples names in chat. If u get kicked you will have an easier time reporting.

That’s actually a big lie . In gw1 there was 0 grind and 0 gear progression .
You could have the ugliest looking gear with the same stats as the coolest .
Gw2 is probably less grindy than 95% of Mmos but adding a new
Tier of gear is a grind to me . I can logg back in my gw1 account and
I will have the same stats as somebody who never left gw1 which is not the case for gw2 . If you havent played since launch and you comw back you are undergeared .
Guild Wars 1 became a game of skill progression. Literally people would grind out the newest skills, and then later Anet would release more that were more powerful than the previous ones. So yeah, your gear would be the same, but you would be behind in the skill progression.
why has this become a discussion on gw1. Who cares whether gw1 had grind or any other game has grind. This is gw2 we r talking about and we should discuss whether grind or no grind is better. yes use other games to show how grind is good or bad but dont validate it by just saying it had grind
my best time in the game was early this year before world XP was introduced in WvW and when the events in Orr hadn’t been nerfed. I had karma to outfit my l80s, I was easily able to experiment builds and easily gear up for new builds and just play and experiment to my hearts content. I had to make sure I did dailies and monthlies for laurels but whilst they were something of a job it wasn’t that bad. I was able to use some mats to make some vanity weapons like abyssal scepter and the anomaly.
Something anet needs to learn is that the simpler the game is the more fun it is for people like you and me. The problem is we dont know how many people feel this way or how many people like having a ton of different currencies and time gates and tiers of weapons and ….. kitten

In phase 1 is there a way to minimize the amount of swarms that spawn. They usually f me up during phase 1 and in the beginning of phase 2.
For melee’ing, just keep moving around from one side to the other, in like a mini oval in front of him. As you do this, keep attacking him. Your cleave will kill the locusts as you are hitting him. The constant movement will keep the locust from being able to attack you.
Your circle movement doesn’t have to be ridiculous, just keep moving as you attack him, and cleave the locust down at the same time.
yeah ive been trying it out i guess i just needed some practice, although before i was doing huge circles around him to kill the swarms. I remember reading somewhere on this thread someone said that you really want to have as few swarms to spawn to get through p1 faster and i wanted to know if there was any thing you can do to get less to spawn.
Anyways i did go around in smaller circles and guess what!!! i got past p1 quite easily and p2 as well but then i f’d up when lupi was at 5%… but not a bad start
Honestly i’d choose warrior over guardian. Personally i find guardian kind of boring, even zerker guard. But with warrior i have alot of fun and i like the combat, especially soloing things.
anyways it is a tough decision on race. Personally i like human better with arah armor, but norn t3 looks pretty great as well. I guess just preview them with the dye you want and weapon you want and figure out which you like better.
Give Warrior a decent heal not on a stupidly long cooldown. The only reason we rely on Healing sig is because we are constantly being hit with no access to regen or protection, or abundant dodges. Which is why warriors still use GS to run away and wait for Healing surge to come back up.
I just want a heal that’s not against the way warrior plays and heals for a decent amount of our total hp. Namely the way Healing surge works. what is the point of granting us adrenaline after the heal, which needs max 3 bars to heal for 50% of our hp, and then what? Adrenal surge by itself is nothing. I hope they change the way this skill works in the future. If they do that, I don’t care about anything else.
what way do you play?? spam autoattack while not dodging? A lot of warriors use pure axe (like me in certain dungeons) and dont have a problem staying alive or accessing a heal. Just use the signet. It gives you more healing in general and it will teach you how to dodge big hits so you dont have to rely on a massive heal.

CoF farm! 1 run = average 15 mins = average 75 silver
trololol .. good joke, dont know if your serious or what. no one farms cof p1 or any one path anymore and that number is closer to 50silver even with opening all the bags and vendoring your loot. but seriously..do dungeons. and champ farming in frostgorge or whatever, dont know if thats still a thing or what bcause i honestly havent done in awhile.

i have a zerker warrior, zerk guard, zerk mez, zerk ranger, zerk thief, and am making another zerk warrior.
i would have been really happy if i could have got rabid stats or something so i could have a cond war in wvw or something…..
instead i got rampagers…close but no cigar
come on anet you have to be more creative than crafting or randomest drop ever.
everytime i fight lupicus i basically see his head. Alls yous have to do is zoom out and then move the camera so you have a sort of eagle eye view. Its actually really helpful for positioning. Although dont keep it there the whole time
Well, been playing since release, posted similar stuff before, but was resurfacing this concern for the sake of the game.
While I am amazed at how much they have done and highly appreciate it, the living story thing has had back lash for a while, but again, it causes these problems.
Up till this point, I have 100% everything for the living story. Some of the events really stressed me out on the difficulty but I got them all finished and I felt really accomplished.
While I worry about the quickness of the content, I admitidly finish the achievements in the first day or two and then the remaining week+ is mostly a free ride.
Yet in the midst of all that, I have this heightened state of stress that I need to “keep up”.
Yes, this may be a personal thing and a lot of people say “ignore it, you will feel better if you stop trying to keep up and just play for fun”.
So I did….and it’s not going well for me. #withdrawls
As far as a backpack and 25 achievement points, I don’t care about the “points” or the skins too much, but its that sense of “doing it all” that is causing lament.
I want to do it all, on my own pace.
As with the Tequatl achievements, you can indeed do it all at your own pace with this achievement. That’s because nothing that you need for the meta to get the backpack is going away. The achievements are still there to get after the month is up, and indeed permanently.
Go to the dungeon tab and go to Twilight Assault on your achievements. All those achievements will still be available.
You haven’t missed anything , even if you haven’t played for the last two weeks…except 25 achievement points and a back item.
That’s it.
yes you can do teq achievements….if people continue to do teq….or the new dungeon thats long with little reward
AP is a bad idea either it means someone plays alot which is good or it means they play alot of ls which is bad….the only groups ive been in with people above 3500 – 4000 AP have usually been bad….
An mmorpg is just that…. an rpg. When you pretty much have no choice in what gear you use, isn’t that taking away your freedom and the “rpg” part of an mmorpg? I play a tanky, support guardian, and I’ve had people kick me from parties, tell me to go full berserker or quit, and insult me not only in-game but on the forums as well. That thinking is so wrong that I could almost cry about it. Maybe berserker isn’t my playstyle and I want to support others with buffs. Shouldn’t I have that option?
I have also heard players say that I should “adapt” to whatever the current situation demands. That is also the worst argument I’ve ever heard. If your current build is lacking, you should adapt to a better version of that build, not adapt to using a completely different build that you hate using.
I’m taking a stand here and now and saying I will not go berserker no matter what. I may continue to get kicked out of parties, but I will report each and every one of the people that vote to kick me, because this thinking is utterly wrong and is harmful for an mmo.
You’re forgetting the people that think that guardians should only be support. A majority of people in my guild qq about how bad berserkers are that there always downed and blah blah blah blah….

I’ve been kicked in the middle of a dungeon so many times that I lost count after 32ish times and, still in a heated rage, I created this thread to express my displeasure. If they kick me before we start the dungeon, so be it… but when I have a limited amount of time to play and I get kicked in the middle of a dungeon repeatedly, you’d be angry too.
Well i dont get kicked. I also never join groups that say berserker only because thats just kittenty players usually. I join experienced groups and the only players i have ever seen be kicked talk kitten or suck kitten…..sooo…from my experience i would say you are either one of those two or you have exteremely bad luck.

Honestly, I’ve never seen a single support class that has stated, “Support only. No zerkers allowed”. It simply does not exist in this game. At this point in time, only zerkers have the capability to be elitist (unless someone is deliberately screwing people up). In other games, sure, elitism is everywhere… but here in GW2 that power lies with the zerkers.

in my guild people qq about berserker gear and alot of people are misinformed as to how powerful it can be. Also elitism works in other ways as well as people think being a berserker guard / war is just going with everyone else instead of what it actually is which is going with the best. Alot of ppl look down on berserker users.
It must be amazing that I did about 20-30 runs as a staff camping signet guardian that never uses virtues and I have never been kicked or even been told that my build or playstyle is bad. Hell, I would go back in time and kick myself if that is possible.

play how you want but also dont think people will like you for it. And most of all this game is an MMO before an RPG and in an mmo you should think about how you fit in the world and you role in it and in dungeons playing how you want should be balanced with playing with a group
