Ele, Engie, or Thief are my suggestions. Honestly many of the other classes can be slow paced and get boring, although maybe thats just me. Ele is extremely fun with the rotations you do and its never bad to see your meteor shower/ice bow take out massive amounts of dps when everyone else is standing there doing 1 hp hits :p. Engie is extremely fun with its rotations and its just cool all around. Plus if you’re rolling an Asura what fits better than that. And thief is kind of like warrior but with more work, higher damage, and interesting and useful utilities. Stealth is never a bad thing to have and match that with the ability to easily solo orbs or wisps, stack a fair amount of might, and the ability to hit for massive amounts of hp makes thief an all around great class.
i would argue that the corner stack for ac p2 is actually useful (for pugs that is) because if you pull correctly you won’t get any of the bosses ranged aoes on you and that gives you time to set up some reflects and stuff. It also can help people maintain the stack, but yeah a lot of pug tactics are pretty stupid and waste a lot of time especially when you have to pull a boss. Im actually interested in what speed run groups do versus what pugs do. That would be an interesting thing to read/watch about.

Did they fix any of the following things about the cannon phase?
1) Camera randomly going into ceiling and killing you
2) AoE circles most unreliable in the entire game
3) Timing from circle drawn to damage impact highly variable (maybe this is actually a “feature”, but it’s a stupid one IMO)
4) Cannon phase gets progressively longer. Definitely a feature, but… making time gates a bit longer for no reason? kitten that kitten.
5) Cannon phase exists. Poorly designed and uninspired time gates suck.
So agree with number 5. For what tends to be a fight i actually enjoy, the canon phase is seriously the worst designed content i’ve seen in a while. Today I died because i forgot aoe circles sometimes don’t show up on walls/that rock thing and will kill you through horizontal damage qq.
Ahh those two reasons might explain it. The most recent time was with my ele and i wasnt really paying attention and had a ton of swarms on me. The other couple of ties it was just me and lupi tho, no swarms between us just two old buddies so maybe i just have good rng
This may have already been a thing and i may be uninformed but after getting the green aura around you is it possible to dodge his grub. As in you mess up dodging his hand going in the air but then you dodge when he spits out the locusts and the grub and you escape the getting the grub on you? A couple of times when I’ve solo’d lupi i’ll mess up and get the grub on me but I’ll dodge right when I know its going to spawn to move a bit farther from the locusts. I get knocked down but no grub appears. Maybe people already knew about this but its new to me.
Can we just get all the traits without having to work for them? I honestly dont care that much about the traits except that the last 3 characters i leveled after gearing them and buying them some sweet t3 i didn’t have enough gold to buy traits forgetting the changes that had been made. So i had to go do some dungeons wiht old classes (boring) before i could trait them.
Its fine gating the trait classes (master, etc.) by level but when you unlock it just let people access all of them. Its more of an annoyance like repairs than it is a real gold drain, and for new players it really stops them from experimenting with classes and getting the most out of their class right when they get to 80.
The only solution to this however that would be really bad is if you got rid of the gold method and made people do certain things for certain traits. That is definitely not the fix needed.
GS is not super great. I cant say this with a hundred percent certainty because i don’t follow the builds for warrior anymore, but you really need to swap between gs and axe/m to get the best dps. But gs is pretty good on warrior but not good enough to camp (unless things have changed). GS on guard is similar in that you have to swap to other weps and its actually not that great to have with larger hit box targets where scepter outdps everything.
On mesmers and rangers gs is not the best weapon of choice. If u have a mesmer or a ranger dont use gs unless u have to. normally its the weapon to swap to for ranging for mesmer. On ranger you can use it if you need to cleave and its a better swap to than LB. Otherwise these two classes should stick to swords (mesmers best set is s/f s/something without any gs in there)
Honestly gs is an all around useful weapon for the classes u mentioned to have but its not the end all be all and its def a boring weapon to use imo. If ur on warrior or guardian u kinda have to use it to get best dps, mebe hammer on guard. But if ur on mesmer or ranger just stick to sword. Or better yet go with a cool class like ele, engie, or thief! XD

I might be behind the times because i wasnt around when fractured came out, but according to wiki and ppl who have i guess datamined this exitsts, and it should allow people to pick skins but hasn’t been implemented yet. Maybe there is hope yet altho it will still be rng, but less painful rng
Go with engineer, warrior gets really stale after a while and engineers are way more fun. Also charr have a lot of animation problems and clipping and most people dont like heavy armor because it gets boring after a while on charr. I find asura armor to be really cool, altho sometimes not noticeable. I really like medium t3 and a mix of carapce and some other stuff. also if u get a total makeover kit, which can give you some great hairstyles and cute faces for asuras, make him/her as tall as possible and your legendary will be seen

i woudlnt suggest this in arah. I enjoy playing with people who are more casual sometimes because it breaks the boredom and because some people who go zerk take everything too seriously. Yesterday i had a delightful run in arah with some newbies who advertised for a mentor. Me and a mesmer joined both of use experienced and that path went very smoothly. It was also really fun with high spirits. So i figured might as well do it myself advertising today twice for p2 anybody. This ended up ruining my belief in inexperienced players. The first run some random thief who wasnt very good kept on taking command, which i dont really care, but he was really bad and he kept aggroing lupi and trying to pull him instead of pushing him into the wall and then dying right away. That run i left when the only other semi exp person left. Then i did it again and this time no one would dodge the grubs, one person kept dcing and i never got past lupi. Now I’m a fairly good player id say but definitely not great. I can solo lupi but not always and def not with a group. Anyways kinda hoping my next groups for diff dungeons will be better QQ
altho on the other hand ive had better runs of AC with lower leveled people who listened and weren’t ridiculous than ive had with some all zerk pugs so i guess high spirits it is. I really like this idea and ill try it out with other dungeons

I dont mind defiance at all. When i first started playing elementalist i was really annoyed by it because ice bow 5 never worked on bosses lol but it became a new challenge. If you have five people in your group you should be able to easily strip the boss of his defiance stacks with some patience and planning. I actually have fun sometimes watching what other members are doing, mainly warriors and guardians to know when i should put down ice bow knowing stakcs will be gone or to use my own ccs. Im not opposed to changes to make it easier for pugs where a warrior will runin and use mace 5 but i like the concept in general that you cant always stun and you have to pay attention to do it properly
People that are selling dungeon runs are inviting people to their group to do so. Thus looking for a group of players willing to join and pay for the run. They are not using the LFG tool as a grey market.
Of course they are.. they might be joining a group but they still pay gold over an LFG system that is not intended for sales of anything.
As for joining a group to run the content – that’s complete rubbish 99% of the time anyway, they join to finish the last 1% of the end fight and grab the chest, its not a dungeon run at all its paying for a chest with tokens etc.
Another issue is the selling of portals for jump puzzles via LFG – sure you can join a group, just like joining a group to buy the guys legendary, but your not running the content your merely paying for a portal to the chest… and all 3 of those sellable features that regularly appear on the LFG are open to abuse and can leave players out of pocket with nothing to show for it once the scams are finishes and the advertiser logs off.ANET just like to hide behind clouded veils and double standards, just like they do with openworld event exploits., their ToS are a joke and not worth the time they took to write up imo.
LFG tools are for grouping to run content not end chest openings and item sales period and should be insta bannable.

People who have extra gold spend it to save time instead of having to do a run. People who can solo dungeons do them and sell them to make gold from the amount of skill and effort it took them to complete the dungeon. Its fair and its at the risk of the player let people do what they want to do
actually play engineers in PVE dungeons or they’d notice the same trend.

I notice the trend against necros and rangers and some engineers. But I have enough engineers in my party to know you can find a group if you want. I have been kicked for being a thief sometimes so its more other peoples stupidity than it is one class being better.
You can solo most anything on any class if you know what to do. The only reason there are more warrior solos is because more people started playing warrior and bc the meta a year + ago used to be warrior. Its also due to the mobility and versatility of warriors. It has nothing to do with balance because you can see the same solos done on other classes often times faster
I always initiate with very benign/friendly posts but for some reason always get borderline belligerent responses. I don’t really understand why. Is this the norm for other people?
Anyway, it seems obvious to me that something needs to be done about the Zerker issue, if for no other reason than the impact it has on dungeon farming.
The reason why you get belligerent responses is because you’re are saying zerker is an issue. This kind of thread has come up every day for like two years now. There is nothing wrong with berserker being the best stat combination out there. Its not easy to use as most people who complain about it say it is and it focuses on damage so why wouldnt it be preferred for running fast dungeons. The only reason why people are so kitten by berserker is because theyve either been kicked for being full cleric in AC p1 or because they see people saying zerk only and feel excluded. You can wear and run whatever build you want to, no one but peer pressure is stopping you.
Change the title to “Discussion on Diversifying Builds”, move away from attacking Zerker and you will have an honest discussion. There is no zerker problem, but they’re is a lack of diversity. Should healing be buffed, imo it has been and it should not be necessary because it makes the game less fun. Should condition damage, semi support builds, and certain weapons and runes be buffed. Definitely. I don’t think anyone would argue against that.
I don’t think you really are attacking zerk so much as you are asking for harder challenges that require different builds. That’s true with all anti zerk threads except people dont seem to realize that. The tricky thing is to not have bosses require any builds just it to be easier for pugs to have certain builds. Ofc once dungeons have been repeated it will go back to zerker, but then Anet could release MORE DUNGEONS and theyre may be use for support once again to figure out how to get through them. That’s really the only way i can see this working. Having bosses where for unorganized group support is necessary in some way, having bosses where condition damage excels so having one or two condis is extremely beneficial, and constantly getting new and tough content that people may start liking support builds so they can ease theyre way through stuff.

Just a warning about guilds dont join one randomly. A lot of people will advertise especially in low level areas. If you want some companionship just post on the open world lfg “LF people to level with” and make some friends. Join a guild once you know some people in it already. Just my two cents
Dont suspend people for selling stuff on the LFG just send out a warning somewhere or make another tab. A reason why these legendaries and precs are going up on the LFG is because a lot of people posted them up on the TP before the announcement that there would be a scavenger hunt coming. They would put for example dawn up for 1000+g and find out a couple days later the price went down to around 800g because of the announcement. Instead of wasting the gold from relisting it and the risk of getting undercut with the falling prices its much easier to just sell it directly to a player. Its really risky but imagine if you got that lucky and then that unlucky with the announcement, or if you spent the months to get a legendary to sell and found out that you should have started a month earlier.
Warriors are super nerfed and aren’t even that good anymore. They’re also really stale because everyone has played them to exhaustion. Engineers are really good if you play them well and are one of the funnest classes ever. Just dont listen to the idiots on lfg because if they kick you for being an engineer and not a warrior they’re way behind the times and the meta.
This is getting kind of pathetic….more people have ideas on how to get zerker nerfed than actually play the game
More “variety” means more needing x class for y role which ultimately will create more toxicity since you can no longer play your class the way you want since you have to play that one role that is now required because the content has been changed in such a way that no longer can anyone doing anything complete.
Now you have to be doing y role with x class to complete.
This is exactly why i like the way gw2 is structured. You really can do almost anything with any class, its just it takes a little bit longer with some and shorter with others. I find zerker to give more variety to many builds compared to other ones. Since you are only focussing on maximum dps through raw attacks, you never really tie your character down do doing only one thing. I switch my build in zerker gear so often and swap weapons (from inventory not like just swapping to the second set) on elementalist and guardian so often that it really makes my characters versatile in every situation. In AC all my characters go full dps with support only from utilities, fractals i put as much support into the build whiles sacrificing some dps. Its these kinds of changes that separate knowledgable players from just 1 spamming zerkers and its also what makes berserker my favorite build. Other builds can be versatile as well, but theres nothing wrong with zerker and it isnt as hindering to change and creativity as people on this thread make it seem

I would like to reiterate Vayne’s sentiments. I’ve never been in a guild ive liked that much, currently im in one but i dont really fit with the other people. This is due to the fact that I usually end up joining guilds when they already have like 200 people and because most guilds are built around a core member of players who know each other and to enter that can sometimes be hard especially if they are not open to it. Im probably going to leave my guild soon and try and find one that fits me more specifically.
As to advice consider what i’ve just said i would say make sure your guild is getting members not just to keep the guild alive but to have actualy people who you enjoy playing with. Its that old thing of not considering people as numbers but as actual people. Don’t just advertise in order to boost your active ranks, but try and get people you will enjoy hanging out with and they will enjoy hanging out with you. Be more inclusive and open and make it a fun atmosphere with all the aforementioned ideas people have mentioned. Good guilds, like the ones i was in in gw1, are not just places for lfgs or for guild benefits, but also for friends.
I don’t want zerker nerfed. I want other stat builds buffed, and zerker people don’t want that because they get their rocks off on having superiority over other builds.
So you’re generalizing and have an attitude problem? Check out Brazil’s youtube he has a condi warrior build. ppl want more builds, Anet hasnt created them. The only thing zerker lovers hate is builds like clerics because they dont like healing but Anet keeps buffing those so……

Berserker stats are not the problem, it’s the fact the mechanics and AI in dungeons are far too easy.

You can do it, but you complicate your life significantly by doing so and drag out the run by a considerable amount.
I could go back to WoW and carry a bunch of guildmates through mythics while they’re doing 17k dps while a few of us do 30k+ dps, but I have no desire to make my experience more time consuming seeing as how I’d rather have that extra time to do other things.
So, yeah, I could use a longbow on my RANGER, and maybe use the black moa I worked so hard to get the hall of monuments points for, but that only makes the run a far worse experience.
And what I want is not to complete the content, but have competitive playstyle options instead of the whole stack all zerker, bring a warrior with banners and an ele to stack might and zerg the boss in 2 minutes garbage that most PvE content currently is.
In dynamic events you just switch it out for stacking guardians and warriors in melee and having eles spam staff skills.
As usual, necro and ranger can do whatever because they’re a subpar class anyways that doesn’t fit into most game formats.

This game has such an egregious disparity of power between builds and professions, and people like to sit here and pretend that the supremacy of Warriors, Guardians, Thieves and Elementalists in PvE and WvW isn’t something real.
The only class that isnt equal to the others is necro. Ranger engineer and mesmer which you did not mention in that last list are all very very good in PvE giving off good dps. Engineer and Mesmers are super helpful because of vuln from engies and reflects/ pulls from mesmers.
What you’re talking about seems to be just a problem with how easy PvE is and how boss mechanics are simple and easy to bypass. How does that relate to Zerker? People are complaining about berserker but everytime i run any dungeon i always have to right zerk only to get maybe 3 members with good dps. Its not really a problem not everyone uses it and most people couldn’t care less if the run takes a couple minutes longer. Talk about how certain professions need to be boosted and how challenging dungeons need to be created in HoT, dont complain about a build thats strong.
I had no idea that it only affected loot from monsters…. That’s a little absurd since everyday i do teq people drop banners and bonfires, yet you dont get any loot besides the last chest and boxes. I dont mind that it doesnt have a ton of effect but itd be nice if it actually influenced stuff that gave good loot not random monsters which dont drop anything anyways
This has to be one of the best things to ever happen to leveling. Just started on my engineer got a good 5 levels with a fair amount of playing. Leveling actually felt rewarding for once, doing hearts and events actually gave me reasonable amounts of xp for time and i found myself enjoying queensdale once again. Plz bring this back regularly, my engineer and I are just becoming good friends
People in zerker builds don’t want the other builds to be viable because they’ve invested all their time and gold onto a zerker meta. They’ve got all ascended zerker gear and they’ve got their gold grinds pat down.
They don’t want different content. They want quick content they can gimmick into their gold payout quick and efficiently.
This is what you get when you introduce huge gold grinds as the main method for aesthetic progression in the game. People stop caring about playing the game and just want to get the gold grind for their legendaries done as quick as possible, or get those fractals done asap as well so that they can go farm as much gold as they can get for the day, so that they can buy the next incredibly expensive rare skin they want.
I agree somewhat with the last paragraph that people focus on how to get stuff fastest. But isnt that human nature.
Zerker isnt a gimmick, no one really gimmicks content. The people who promote this zerker meta (who also have other builds fyi, many use phalanx warrior and they create interesting condi damage builds like warrior) do most content without any bugs or exploits. Finishing content faster than expected isnt a gimmick its skill and I dont see why thats so bad.
Additionally sure people are invested in zerker gear but everyone knows ascended isnt exactly that much different from exotic. Changing stats costs what, 50g max maybe. If you’re a zerker elite who grinds dungeons all day that shouldnt be a problem right? There is also some diversity even in hardcore players. Guardians will use some soldier armor or other sets for higher level fractals, elementalist switch between runes of scholar and i think its strength? altho thats been nerfed, and mesmers role with assassins with ranger runes. Its not all zerk and even if it were theres nothing wrong with that. It takes more skill to finish content in zerk gear than it does in clerics and thats why people like it
Non-berserker builds actually are more rewarding. Not once in over two years have I joined a dungeon group in which berserkers didn’t get themselves killed somehow.
There were even times when I had to go get my cleric to keep everyone alive because they were too busy dealing damage to keep themselves alive. It’s kind of funny, actually. People play berserker to deal more damage, but you don’t deal any damage when you’re dead, do you?
I don’t think you should get more loot or anything for not playing berseker — that would be absurd. And besides, constantly reviving your “epic zerk meta” companions is already a lot of experience points.
One or two berserkers in my group maximum has proven to be a lot more enjoyable, and completely wipe-free!

This is exactly why zerker builds should not be nerfed or hated against. People in general suck at playing with berserker because they cant dodge and they dont know whats going on in fights. Its also why it makes for the most fun build in the game because you get to see high numbers and its also a challenge to stay alive.
I also dont see why people claim that only berserker builds are accepted in dungeons. I pug alot and i rarely see full zerker or even half zerker groups. Everyones in clerics not dodging and slowly killing the spider queen through pvt boredom
Trading on the TP, its easier than you think if you put in the effort. Start off with smaller amounts of gold like 10-20g and as you get better and better keep increasing. In the beginning it won’t eb that much, more like nice additional change, but if you trade like 100g at least you can definitely get good profit, better than any other form in the game. Its risky and some find it boring but combine it with dugneons and you’re set
It doesnt really make sense that they wouldnt have dungeons since it seems these areas they are making are mainly lvl 80 so endgame content, and whereas like a year ago casuals may not have been doing dungeons, it seems like everyone is getting on them dungeon trains, casual or hardcore. Seems like it’d be necessary to keep ppl playing

i dont like megaservers and even tho i dont share the pains of those above, i hope anet after releasing the expansion will give another look into servers and fix them. I liked being able to see certain ppl, even ones i didnt know in LA knowing theyd be there because they were also on blackgate. And i was a big fan of seeing the sailor moon troop every once in a while lol.
I have both a guard and a thief. In pve both can be extremely essential, guardian more so. In fractals especially the higher levels, for pug groups, you almost need to have a guardian to finish. The amount of reflects blocks, and the ability to produce fairly good dps make guardian essential. However at the same time guardian can be a bit boring. Its nice to get really good reflects and to save your team, but the rotations are very simple in terms of damage and it can get stale for many. I dont really enjoy being on my guard because even zerker is a bit easy mode and i feel like all the gameplay which is fast and exciting on ele and thief for me is slower and boring on guard. But some ppl really love it and its definitely a good class to have in case your group needs support.
Thief on the other hand is really fun in pve. You can offer fair amounts of support with reflects, and of course stealth. You’re always trying to position yourself behind bosses when fighting and although the rotations are as simple as guardian you hit higher numbers and the animations and the constant moving to get the best position makes it more entertaining. Also since you have no health and no real blocks you also really have to understand encounters, know how to dodge, and strive to stay alive. Which imo may be harder, but is also more fun
In terms of armor i get bored of heavy armor fast, besides what i currently have on, but i really like my thieves armor. Altho i am the meta, human female with t3, and underboob OP!
PVP both are really good, but i feel like Thief takes more skill and understanding of pvp and of other classes. I use a burst guard in pvp and in one or two days i had almost everything under control. Im not a great pvp player, but i could hold my own and against players at my skill level or a little lower i would do really well, and i had high survivability. Guardian in pvp is really fun and you feel godlike sometimes.
Thief took me a lot longer to get a hang of and im still not that great. I use sword/ dagger shortbow so maybe dagger/pistol is easier, but theres a lot of positioning as well, using skills to teleport to targets and understanding when to stealth. I find it more fun than guard because i like having a hard time (lol) and thief is a real challenge. If you’re really good at it, its also extremely godlike as ive seen.
Funny thing is on metabattle i think they put the counter to thieves being a burst guardian, basically my two builds counteract one another heh heh
Anyways id say you should definitely get both classes as they teach you important things about pve and pvp. I would suggest you pvp with both before 80 as it helps you understand classes better and assuming youre rabbit rank it shouldnt be too hard.
I think you should go with thief first because itll teach you about dodging and staying alive a bit more, as some guards can just faceroll through stuff without really being that good. But go with what feels right to you and check them both out
Then really you should have always been annoyed, since the numbers could have been increased from the start. Going by the “i will not be as good as my former self” moto, then you should most likely not play games that are constantly changing. Because by your moto you will always be upset with the game. If you are looking for something for you to optimize in that never changes, there are games out there that would suit you. GW2 will keep changing, nothing more to say besides that.
I don’t think that was the point. The changes to might, im no expert but from my experience and the reactions of others, may reduce the speed of killing bosses and clearing dungeons in general. Meaning that people may never be able to get better at repeating the same content. For people who have played this game a long time and know basically all there is to know about the game, theres really nothing left to do but try and get record times. This isn’t the fault of the players that this is the only remaining goal, its the fault of the devs for not introducing any new content, or anything challenging for that matter. This nerf isnt an example of gw2 changing, its basically gw2 staying the same just annoying players.
Im not sure why there is hostility towards the OP on this. Doesn’t make sense since being able to stack might is helpful for every group. I love pugging on my ele because i know regardless of what everyone else’s stats are I can at least help make dungeons and fractals go at a reasonable speed thanks to might.
Ah this all makes sense. Its nice to know tho because i wanted a legendary before I left, and now i feel like i can get one. Just felt really behind the game with how expensive they are now. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this isn’t how it works. We don’t know what percentage of people who play the game post on reddit and the forums. We do know however that these are the only mediums of communication that the devs have available. There are no in game polls to express content with the game and opinions on certain issues.
No we don’t. In fact I would say we more or less know the complete opposite.
But we do know that a lot of the stuff people are asking for, real content and more of it, isn’t something that most people don’t like. There is a vocal minority who are on these forums and 90% of the stuff that’s talked about is not reflective of most people and its not things that people worry or care about. But when it comes to upgrading the LS, adding more to it and making it have expansion like content given for free every couple weeks I think that majority of people will like it more, or the same. I think would be safe to assume that adding new races, new areas, new stories, new dungeons, new maps to wvw and pvp, and new ways to get precursors would cater to a majority of people in the game, those who hate LS, who like it, who are on this forum constantly, and who have left.
I returned to the game, left about a year ago, and the inflation on legendaries was insane. I left and it was around 1400-1800g for a legendary and 400-800g for a precursor. Coming back I imagined some inflation but not more than 1000g. I know inflation is natural, but i was wondering what the causes were specifically. Is gold easier to get for people, i.e. better farming areas? Or have drops become rarer for precursors and mats needed? Or is this just normal for a game economy. Lastly, will it now take longer to get one than before? (before it was like 2-3 months of intense farming, maybe even less) give or take a couple week depending on luck, perseverance and ability to trade on tp)
I want a season 3 but if it’s less gem store, waste time jumping content. I don’t mind the idea of living story but this story isn’t living its just repeating itself and it will die soon.
I’d really like to see more actual content, new dungeons, more bosses with actual mechanics not just copies of old ones. I’d like to see a new content. I mean they could spent two full living stories opening up Cantha and Elona. Like have a couple different living story events fighting our way through to the two continents. This would give them time to finish the areas and would give a lot of life to the two areas.
I don’t much care for a new race, but new classes would be cool. It’d also be cool to have new skills and new weapon skins that came from the game.
I would also really like to have a precursor scavenger hunt, and maybe making legendaries more skill based. Also introduce new ones.
There’s alot of stuff I’m hoping for in the game because I really like it. But as it stands now, it’s hard not hate alot of it and it’s hard to stick with it if real content doesn’t come. Most of the people I follow on youtube for gw2 have left and many in game as well who cared more quality of content. I know the game’s not dead and many will still play but i think making real content will keep players interested, keep the gem store alive, and will also bring back skilled players. It’s the solution for everyone, whereas the LS as it stands is only a solution for casual players.
I have to praise Anet for balanced classes. This is mainly from a PvE standpoint, but whereas many people complain about Meta team setups, basically every class can be useful in dungeons in terms of equal dps. Its not balanced perfectly (i.e. I’ve heard necro still isn’t as good dps wise) but I feel like if I want to make a new character, and still try and be as OP as possible in dungeons I can pick any class. This also goes for PvP and WvW, at least from my experience where I have killed (either through short or long fights) every class and have been killed by every class. Some people were complaining about cheese builds, but as far as that goes I haven’t found too many I couldnt beat by skill, except some engineers are really annoying. But overall I’d say I think their balance is pretty good and i think its also a really hard task to complete coding wise, to make sure every class’s skill and weapon combinations are not OP over anothers.
(also just my opinion so may be wrong but its still a hard thing to balance and code)
I know I’ve been disgruntled in the past if anyone cares to look at my posting history but right now, despite all the problems I’m having, I’m actually in a better mood about the state of the game. I’m really not sure why though, go figure, lol.
I used to be really upset at the state of the game then I took a break for school and came back and now I enjoy it alot more than I used to. There are still some faults, but I like the changes that have been made and am pretty happy about the game.
I did the dailies. Because I felt like it. And hey, I survived too!

and actually did mine in PvP for the first time since coming back. You’ve probably heard this alot but PvP is so much better. It’s amazing I love it lol!!
From someone who returned to the game recently I have to say there are some good things about the new dailies.
I really like the fact that you get a chest for each one completed so if one day i just want to get the chest of knowledge i can just do that instead of doing all the dailies.
Also It makes me feel amazing that i get an exotic chest!! lol for reals.
I love the login rewards idea, since before i felt really pressured to login and play for a bit to get the dailies whereas now if I’m busy one day i can just sign in and exit right away. It helps alot!
I also really enjoy the dailies that have a certain number of events needed to be completed since It livens up alot of the maps, and it can be a nice change of pace when leveling new chars.
Not sure if any changes came to wvw and pvp dailies but since I’ve been spending most of my time on EB it seems like dailies are more natural and Its really nice to not have to care so much about daily while crushing (or being crushed heh heh) in wvw.
However, there are some bad things as well…
Firstly that last point I made comes with its own problems. Sometimes the events are needed in areas that I don’t have on a new character, meaning I have to switch, which isnt so painful but it can be annoying if it happens alot. Also the events can be hard to get when there are zergs storming low level maps.
There was also one day where they had two fractal dailies (pretty sure because I left pve due to that to get daily in wvw) which should be avoided imo because for someone like me who is just focussed on leveling atm fractals really isnt something I want to do. Not saying making one fractal daily is bad because fractals are tons of fun and more people doing it can be beneficial. Just suggesting to make sure the dailies can be done by more levels/ playstyles
The specificity of many of the dailies is a pain because often times you are limited to one map, and its usually out of the way. Also this makes these dailies take longer sometimes depending on where they are located and how many people are on a map.
And even though wvw dailies feel natural, it seems unfair that pve isnt natural. I think dailies being slightly harder is better and I like the way the rewards are structured but I think less specificity and more catering to what people are doing anyways with only a few dailies out of the way would be better.
But overall I like many of the changes since I’m not bothered by dailies that much anyways. Even though there are bad things with it still good job Anet! Hopefully feedback helps make it better!

Not exactly opposed to this idea. But there are some arguments against it. We already have wardrobe and the ability to unlock skins so making items account bound because of expensive skins isn’t necessary. Besides helping new players/ players who are clumsy I’d agree this kind of dumbs down the game alot. At the same time, I’m in favor of this bc have exotic items soul bound to certain characters that I’d like to delete. Although, I remember there was a way to do that before, although it may have been with transformation stones
Found out this morning that I have two stacks of those fortune scraps from the zephyr sanctum living story event from months ago. They were sitting in one of my characters inventories that I dont play much. I looked online at the wiki and it said that for the Desert Rose Skin and the Zephyr Rucksack you can get the rare version from the specialist, however when I actually click on the names of these two the wiki says only the masterwork are availble from the specialist. Regardless of the rarity, if I trade for either one of these am I able to sell them on the TP? The rest of the masterwork Zephyrite items come account bound but since these were rare I was wondering if they would not be bound? Really would rather use them for something other than the back skins if the backs cant be sold.

this system is superior for people who wanted to get the maximum amount of AP but didn’t want to leave PVE.
I am glad that this 1% will now be a lot happier than the other 90% of casual PvEers who were getting 5-8 AP daily in the old system just for playing the game and without wasting any time on pet tricks. That’s a great way to retain players, I agree.

You are seriously crying too much, daily takes at most 15mins in the new system – if you want the 10 AP suck it up and do it, if you don’t then you’re getting the Laurels etc automaticly anyway so no real loss.
Also what are the other 9% of people doing/feeling? We should take full advantage of your oracle powers while you’re here – what will be the outcome of the UK May 2015 General Election? (I hear its too close to call but your powers might shine a light ^^)

I dont get why this thread has devolved into ranting about the daily system. Theres already another thread about that, and its just dailies, not really a big deal. Sure it could be better but I think both the old and the new had their own problems and whereas the changes people want havent come it hasnt gotten much worse, its just changed.
The topic starter with a lot of good points, and it really doesnt make sense to focus on this one. Play How I Want is gone when you look at how uneven rewards are, and how few players are playing in WvW due to the lack of any incentive. Its also somewhat gone because due to inflation for new players and just in general, things cost more and without good rewards on a regular basis its hard to keep up while doing things you like doing. This doesnt mean everyone should be able to get a legendary just doing what they want, but they should be able to enjoy the game, get some cool skins, and have fun. Part of the reason this doesnt happen is because Anet hasn’t fully balanced the game in terms of rewards or RNG. Additionally some of the rewarding events and such are just massive zergs and stuff which many people don’t like, although that’s hard to avoid. But another major part of this game are people who get influenced by things like other people having legendarys, the so called “Meta” and basically grind in general. Its hard not to feel like your way of playing is being attacked when you see others just doing the grind to get cool stuff. Most of the things like ascended are not necessary and so for those items play how you want is still alive. But at the same time the concept of diversifying and equalizing rewards still applies because people shouldnt constantly feel like they need to change play styles.
Dailies is an example of this kind of effect where people want the rewards but dont want to switch playstyles. IMO its more of a problem on players than Anet because the rewards are fairly diversified and evenly applied to different playstyles, although, WvW daily to me is harder than pve.

Dailies feel more unnatural nowadays but theres nothing really bad about them. I was able to accomplish them for the last couple days with my newest char and it was pretty dam easy.
