I would say i understood their decision to merge team queues and solo queues so there would be faster matches and people in team queue could play against different people, but me as a solo player having to go up against the same premade 3 times in a row is stupid.
Maybe if they fixed some of the things wrong with pvp and did more updates and gave better rewards more people would get into team play.

We all clicked yes to progress onto the next fractal and i thought i saw the shimerring light thingy but instead we were still in ascalon and hadnt been ported. Got this error message. this has happneed to me before but never with an error message

i think it’d be easier to bring back the bunny ears for a week than to spend time making new character models or checking animations for scaled minipets to make sure they dont preform oddly or anything

Dont some stats change between pvp and pve? for example people messed up thief rotations in pve by testing them in pvp, (thinking you should start hs at 50% instead of 25% health). My normal backstabs with crit strikes is 5-6k sometimes that jumps up with fire sigil procs
why has this thread become about backstab vs maul?? Rangers have #2 on LB and can hit at a distance of 1900, which i can definitely not do on thief. I think sb needs a buff
Must be really low in the ranks to not have people search for you in shadow refuge. Day one of playing thief i had people using channeled skills, aoes, or knockbacks when i was in S R lol, taught me how to position in stealth and dodge knockbacks xD

Eh. I’ve gotten to the point I don’t even really care what people think is legit. I run Sword/Torch Axe/Dagger, which is fun, effective and at least requires skill in landing attacks, comboing your own fields and has no real range (I hate short bow). It gets the job done. If people don’t like it, sorry. But it’s about the only thing I enjoy these days. Some might say it’s “easy”, but it doesn’t use any less abilities than other builds. I call it intuitive. That’s a sign of good design. To each their own I guess.

Thief burst isn’t the real issue. Guard could do the same with the focus pre-cast, face-tank/cleave a point better and arguably finish a downed person better. Burst is something you can’t take away from Thief really. But z-axis you can cause Thief is high skill cap even without it.

no i know why u mentioned it. But what you’re saying makes no sense. So you want guards to be able to burst just as much as thieves and also do all those other things? every class has a burst they can use some have shorter cds some longer thats how its been balanced. Which is why it doesnt make sense to qq about how fast they kill.
No profession has a “right” to be better if its skill cap is higher, if that were the case then mesmers would be on every team. From the start this game has been balanced around playstyles intentionally- which has worked out but made the meta boring for many.
I dont think i said that, and if i somehow did i didnt mean to. I was pointing out that thief is in a good place at the moment. When i was talking about skill i was pointing out that unlike many other classes a bad thief can essentially make the game a 4v5. Engies, eles, warriors, guards all have good sustain and have builds that they can bunker with meaning low skilled player can still benefit the team.
I think its a good thing to have the gameplay being based around playstyles but also around skill. And i think thief is a good example of that. You can play evasively with survivability through sword/dagger or you can be extremely bursty with dagger/pistol. Even when a thief is highly skilled hes not godlike and still fulfills a niche role, meaning that when it comes to bursting down targets or ganking other zerkers, a skilled thief will excel but when it comes to holding a point or surviving against 2 enemies a thief will not. This is the exact same thing for every class, a highly skilled engie will be able to hold down a point and put out consistent damage and heals, but will not be able to burst down targets extremely fast, stealth easily, or move around the map backcapping and +1ing.
The only reason why i think there is hate against thieves on the forums is when you are killed out of nowhere by a thief its noticeable and seems op. In reality thats just their role in pvp, and just like every other class, a skilled player should be able to fulfill it.

Is there any issue with lupicus’ sucking thing in p3. Some ele in my group was going all overboard and asking who was targeted since it should have been him but it wasnt.
yeah i think that snotstorm thing may have less projectiles because i used to get hit when i was on the edges of it but i only used one dodge which was mistimed and i was barely hit for anything.
Kinda sad about the bubble change, it makes p3 a faceroll
Personally having played many classes in pvp, not being good at most of them but i have played each enough to be an average player, i decided to stick to thief, simply because i think its one of the tougher classes to play. The only class that is harder imo is mesmer, and maybe some specific builds for classes such as s/f ele, altho i dont have enough knowledge on that.
Thief is all about patience, positioning, and knowing what your enemy is going to do. One wrong move and you die, especially in team fights. I dont see why people complain about thieves. Its really not an easy class to play, and the ones who are good only survive because they know what you are going to do. I really think thief should not be nerfed, and if buffed only a little bit because it has a nice balance of risk and reward, as well as taking a fair amount of skill to play. It just doesnt have a good place in solo pvp since teams dont understand the role of thief and the limitations.
If you have a hard time against a thief, 1. have better reactions so when they do try to burst you when you dont expect them you can move away, 2. accept that sometimes you cant win against a thief especially if you are zerk and they gank you, 3. Just take the time to learn how thieves play, and you will have an easy time countering them with any class.

to the ranger person qqing above, i think they are a ranger, on thief ive faced some sword rangers, i forget what build but no bow, and they knew exactly how to fight thieves. They were able to dodge most of my bursts and it was one of the only hard fights against a ranger i had, because just like my build their build required some understanding to pull of properly in 1v1.

i can understand buy another set for different stats but how many do you have? that you don’t have space for make an alt and there you have it partially geared up (unless its soulbound then idk)
if you fotm a lot you get a ton of rings. Since rings arent exactly the easiest things to get lots of people save even the ones with trash stats, especially if infused, in hopes of getting some exchange for them.
i would raise the limit to 3 person teams in ranked. But shouldnt the system already be pairing teams against teams. I know it doesnt work but if they fixed it so that teams that have parties in them i.e. 2-3 people playing together play against other parties and also add in another queue for teams i think that would be better.
But yeah at the moment i hate battle of kyhlo because of the treb and the fact that teams suck dealing with it. Stronghold solo queue will be a nightmare especially since i actually like fighting and not controlling siege….if i wanted to do that id wvw lol

This seems like a really cheap tactic Anet is using to sell these items. I kinda wanted the wings just because they are ridiculous and i know i will come to regret that i don’t have them even tho im not a particular fan of them rn. I have the gems to buy them so this is not a qq over how expensive they are, but seriously, making it so people can only buy them on one day is a little messed up. Firstly those who don’t sign in today totally miss out on these wings. Secondly its clearly meant to drive up the cost of gems in terms of gold so more people will buy them with real cash. Ill prob not buy them simply because of this tactic, and im hoping they come back one day (unlike bunny ears and sunglasses which idc what tactic they use ill buy for 1000s of gems) and they will be available for more than 24 hrs.
I kind of agree with Jerus, I find it way more fun to run fractals than dungeons because it tests my concentration and my skill and the groups end up being more experienced and having more fun. But yes rewards need to be made better…im relatively new, have only been playing for like 7 months with one long break in between so im always looking for gold to get nice skins. But i agree the gold reward should not match that of dungeons. Instead why not just increase the chances for asc wep/armor and frac wep boxes, adding a reliable way to get fractal weapons, and then adding in a new tier of weapons. the new tier being restricted to levels 50-80, where you get another token for the reliable method of geting a weapon and a chance at a box for the weapon. They could make totally new skins or make better looking fractal ones (not sure how) kind of how zenith skins have their pinnacle counterpart. Making a new tier would also keep players who have all the skin, or most of them, something to work towards.
With the amount of great things made from charged lodes they would have to increase drop rate and lower the amount required to make any change to the price.
Every weapon create from charged lodestones looks super nice (sunrise, meteorlogicus, bolt, mjolnir, foefire weps, dwayna, light of dwayna) and the most popular rune, rune of the scholar also takes charged lodes.
With such a low drop rate and a high demand no wonder they’re at 3g a pop. However, i don’t advocate making any change. I think even with the cost of charged lodes, these skins are at the right prices for their looks. foefire weps are at around 500g, the legendaries are at around 3000g. This seems right considering the looks and effects of the weapons. if they changed it, legendaries price woudnt change so much, but foefire ones would go down to around 200g which doesnt make sense considering how they stand out.
Why do heavy armor users have to spend 55 laurels and 33g for the recipes in order to get a full ascended weapon set and an engi only has to spend 20 laurels and 12g, an ele only needs 25 laurels and 15g?
35 Laurels is a huge difference and makes the 6 days that a light armor user needs more to craft his damask (which can be circumvented by buying it directly anyways) seem miniscule.
35 laurels is easily gotten with the new system. And are you seriously saying that HAVING MORE WEAPON CHOICES is a bad thing?? I am sure Engineers And Eles would gladly be ‘punished’ with having to craft more ascended weapons, if they had more weapons to use.

the argument you made was that because heavy armor classes have more weapon choices they have to spend more money to make a full set of ascended weapons. That’s a bad argument because ele’s and engies would prob enjoy having more weapon choices even if it cost more. But even then you’re argument is bad because sure a full set of ascended weapons will cost a heavy armor class a lot of laurels…but who needs a full set. If you’re a warrior you only need gs axe mace and sword…and maybe MAYBE shield if you’re kiting mai’s shot and you have no guardian in your group. If you’re a guardian you only need gs hammer scepter focus and sword. So both classes need at max five ascended weapons and its still more like 4 weapons because you can do without hammer and shield. Elementalists need 4 weapons staff dagger scepter and focus, however i would argue they need another dagger to make sigils work. So its the same number of weapons since all of these classes will only use 4-5 of these weapons.

hmm…thats interesting. Check the log again when you play against a mesmer. The damage should come from two things, high powered illusions such as berserker or duelist, and from the shatter. Berserkers hits will be a couple and will total for a few thousand, duelists will be a lot of hits that total for a similar amount. The shatter should be the highest one. I feel like ive checked the combat log in spvp and saw the damage from shatter, but i normally dont have it open so i could be wrong. Maybe its only a wvw thing?
why didnt they do jumping puzzles in dungeons…that would have been great! “hey guys after we finish the boss can we all go and do the jp! there’s an achieve for it!”

I feel you, and i dont like when people say stuff in pvp…especially unranked because if you’re playing unranked you have no right to hate.
But i dont think they should get rid of the feature. Its a competitive game mode and trash talk is kind of part of it. I dont use say to make fun of people much, but i do use it when im having a fun fight or i want to give some advice. Honestly, it makes the games more fun. I was taken down by a thief twice and i used say to tell him he was really good and that id take him down eventually. I did and i was pretty great. I also used say to tell a guard that he shouldnt blow all his utilities at one time and to pay attention so he could save them for when he really needs them. Some people dont take that kind of advice the right way and think that im acting superior to them, but he was cool and messaged me and i helped him out in the mists for a bit. I dont think id have these kinds of experiences without the say feature.
Say is also not in WvW, i dont think they should do the same in pvp. if you dont like trash talk, which i dont see super often honestly, play in practice for a bit as you get better, or go roaming in wvw because its super fun and a lot of people are not great
I find it more annoying that if i do a fair amount of dungeons and a fractal or two in a day i can manage to get enough leather, wood, and mithril to craft the time gated mats. Maybe not the entire amount but factoring in the cost of those mats from the tp, enough that it doesnt really take away from my gold. Silk on the other hand ill end up with at max 40 bolts of silk, and thats if im lucky, often times i get 30 or so. Buying the other 50-70 is like another 4-5g on top. The mats are already time gated putting a pressure on the player to make sure to craft it every day…yet you cant manage to get enough mats to craft it every day. The whole experience just feels backwards. I think they should both put the amount of silk needed to 50 and make it drop more from salvaging since we cant get it from nodes. I dont mind having to purchase the mats from the tp to craft it every day, but i shouldnt have to spend as much as i do each time, and i should feel like the silk i get from playing the game is actually worthwhile.

I find people with AP above 15k usually run bad builds…. but thats just personal experience
the few times i do jps (for ap rewards ofc) i do them on mez so that for the next couple of days i can port people who want bad loot or want aps as well. It makes me feel like a good citizen for saving them time and frustration for something that a lot of people really don’t like.

#puglyf had a guard in CM say WoR was not part of his build and in AC some guard kept banishing/ccing before i could icebow freeze. I commented by saying “that cc tho” and he thought i was complementing him.
Lastly in FoTM i was in a group at level 20 something and there was this horrible ranger. I guess he was friends with two others in the group. A Mez (who turned out later to be a dev) and I kept telling him to hide (meaning his pet) and he literally ran behind a corner and stayed there…Eventually the mez tried to kick him and then got kicked then i got kicked for saying the mez was the only good one. At least i got a dev friend out of it

I just don’t understand new players. I have no desire to hold people back. Honestly I haven’t been kicked yet (knock on wood) but there are groups I simply want to leave because I feel like I’m holding them back. i search for info on how to get better, I pug trying to get better, I solo trying to get better. I don’t get why people feel like they should be able to jump in and be completely accepted in any group. That’s not how things work. Maybe it’s my experience with MMOs but I know there are those that hve done things before and want a smooth run, at this point there ar dungeons that I feel this way. I long for SEp1 to be fighting on nokk, for the inquest golem to be deep frozen instead of pulled to a corner, and for the 3golems to be pulled together and burned down. But, that just doesn’t happen in PUGs.
We have guilds like ARES and Noob willing to help, I really hope new players use them. I’m a member of ARES and I actively try to help and pass on info I know. please, if new players read this, USE THESE TOOLS, We want to help, we really do, when I get a group together in ARES I expect a few people to be going in for the first time or at least not know what’s going on, I expect a casual run of teaching. learn, have fun, ask questions, it’s a good thing.
Shameless plug for ARES but really, join us, learn, many of us actually enjoy helping you learn the ropes. Eventually you’ll be someone we run smooth runs with and have a lot of fun just destroying dungeons like ARAh with. No reason nto join a PUG group and hold them back when there are teachers out ther willing to help!
Cant agree more with this. I force myself to join anyone welcome groups for dungeons when i came back to the game because i wasn’t sure if i still remembered any paths. Sure it sucked but i felt good about it because i ended up helping others learn paths and i didn’t bother any people who wanted smooth runs.

I don’t think they would have the best devs play on the livestreams because those are meant for average players and theyre more focused on explaining new features than streaming elite gameplay
However, there are many devs who are good at the game. There’s this guy who’s always in PvP named Nightmare who is literally a nightmare if you are matched against him. I met a Dev just this morning in fractals (not on their dev account) and they were really good, so i think its just subjective.
Obviously the ones who make the game probably have more fun at designing and testing stuff out than getting super good and being meta.
You may not always win, but every time you send a Asura flying 750meters it will feel so worth it.

As someone who mainly plays mesmer now but used to only play guardian in pvp…Ranger is definitely an easier class to play.
On my Guardian before i knew anything about mesmer i could easily kill most every mesmer. The only thing i had to do was find the one that was the real one and bam spike it down. Ranger is a lot more difficult because it has way better distance burst to come into fights and with ccs and sniping from inaccessible places they can be hard to get to and hard to quickly kill.
The right way to play mesmer is to dart in and out of combat and shatter your clones when you’re near your foe. This is alot more difficult for most players than using LB ranger to the best of its capability. Knowing when to shatter, when to stay out, avoiding aoes and other damage while shattering and keeping phantasms up can be a real juggle especially when playing against skilled players.
Id say mesmer is one of the easier classes to play in pvp but ranger is definitely the easiest

to the OP, yes this change if it does affect pve would be affect the ability to run past mobs in arah, especially p2. It’s kind of stupid honestly if it is implemented because those mobs stun like there’s no tomorrow. But it’s not too difficulty to get past with some stealth (even just consumables) a change in one or two utilities and using the right weapon. I rarely skip those mobs using stability just because im too lazy to change utilities
It would be cool, but it really depends how they make it. I know Matt Visual really wants it lol i personally would rather not have it since idc much for legendaries. I wish they would focus on making more skins in general that are not gem store that look cool and have effects, i.e. foefire’s essence. If they do make it it should cost at max twice a legendary at the moment or a little less, and it shouldnt be time gated. Also if it should be shared on different weight as you suggested. Legendary armor has the possibility to be the biggest grind ever which is why i think it should be avoided if theyre moving in that direction
What i’d rather they focus on is creating new weapons / giving new weapons and skils to classes because its a lot more fun to play the game and expiriment than just look cool.
Also one thing to be cautious about is that legendary armor may not be made simply because people in full suits of armor wth crazy effects may just be artistically hard to make and to make not annoying. I already kind of hate the radiant armor skins because they bother my eyes while playing. Legendaries aren’t so bad but when theyre are a hundred at once its a bit much. Imagine doing a world boss where 50 people are in legendary armor with legendaries…the worst convention of cluttered effects ever.
I feel like around 50 or so fractal relics maybe 50 for offhands like focus and 60 or 75 for mainhands/ two handed weapons like dagger or greatsword along with a boost to the rng and a box that lets you choose a fractal weapon would make the rewards way better. The fractal skins are some of the best in game and It would be nice to at least have the rng reflect the difficulty i.e. more chance at level 50 than level 40 or 30.
My question is do you think it would be a good idea to be able to sell them on the TP? I dont like that idea because it would mean players farming silverwastes could run around with fractal wep skins….but at the same time many who get lucky at level 10 and get the weapon they want already do. It could be nice considering if you do fractals a lot and get all of the skins or at least the ones you want, you would then be able to sell them to make a fair profit. Im on the fence about it.
It would be great if they could fix fractal rewards so that skins become a mark of experience and skill (Maybe add new skins special to higher levels, kind of like how SAB weps had diff colors) . Nowadays its disheartening to see someone with the skin you want in nomads gear never dodging, knowing they got the skin by luck not by being good at fractals. It’s the only rewards in the game that actual has the potential to be a symbol of a good player instead of just ability to grind/ faceroll

To craft a full set of ascended armor, without wasting money buying bolts of damask from tp, will take more than a month. Even with crafting the bolts of damask by yourself its not cheap, each spool of silk weaving thread is like 5 or so g in bolts of silk and each bolt of damask is another 5g on top of that. Honestly the rough estimate of each piece is about 50g not including the time it takes to craft it. My suggestion just get the runes of the scholar exotic because the difference between exotic and ascended is not much but hte diff between major and superior is. Also a full set of scholar runes is only 24g which is less than one piece of ascended armor.
I was going to suggest the silverwastes vendors. Have you checked to see if you really can’t because honestly that would suck hard. I’m pretty sure you should be able to though, I missed the episodes that gave other pieces and I was still able to buy them from the vendors….check before wasting gems
