i understand why this game “feels” stagnant.. but i personally did not feel affected by this until the ‘sweeping’ changes made this year.. poor decision making is really beginning to bear its full weight on the community in its entirety

actually, forum talking points and cdi aside, i’m referring to the things in game that Do affect average gamers.. there is a plethora of little things {but noticeable things} that arena net has implemented or left stagnate, or haven’t implemented at all that really makes me wonder if they are bogged down or just neglectful :\

valid, but arena net seems to excel at their side and viciously neglect the other.. in removing traditional frustrations they submit their own.. i’d really like to see them refine instead of cater to the zombie consumer crowd.. that is the only way i really see this franchise retaining its longevity

it’s not going to push any off the shelf broken builds which are a large factor in this game..
but for the typical player who works on their character, it’s a nudge in the right direction.. i personally found ascended gear an interesting crafting endeavor.. depending on what stats you choose though, with the current game economy it may be unreasonably out of your budget

i’ll also add they should release a hair, eye, tattoo change kit.. the hairstylist kit is lackluster, even after they fixed the drop rate and it is 400% less than it was on the trading post.. i don’t think make-over/name-change kits will take too much of a hit in the gem store as you wouldn’t be able to change your characters shape

if you remember your characters name you can go here to check your HoM progress.. progress is tracked no matter what, but you’ll have to get your character to the HoM in GW1 for the GW2 reward options to kick in

i’m a bit old fashioned so i like to put wolfram in an alkane and bombard it with high electrical discharge for several hours

without monthly, i don’t recall ever having the opportunity to get 3 laurels in a given day
and how exactly is a token merchant bartering for a currency obtained through quests {which depending on how arena net handles this could be any available content in the game really} “exclusivity”? not any more exclusive than some of the pvp reward skins or the geode merchant in dry top that is for sure

lore purposes.. you’re not going to see an asura gate or waypoint to Eye of the North until there is a campaign to reclaim the surrounding territory from the icebrood. . .

i could see seeking out a particular task and then hitting a wall being frustrating.. but i would like them to make it that completed quests do not repeat and failed or skipped ones are rolled again, hopefully not too often.. failing all 3 optional quests in a day would be rather tragic..

i thought it would clarify a few things to post a walk through based on how i would implement a daily content exposure delivery system

Oracle of the Mists

each day, players can enter the Hall of Monuments.. there they will meet a specter.. this unnamed entity will commission Tyrian heroes to complete 3 optional tasks.. these tasks will consist of any quest/event/encounter already existing in game.. each mission is presented with significant lore bits.. here is a quick example: Prevent the Tamini from retaking Holdland Camp.. holdland is a makeshift facility on a battlefront near tunwatch redoubt waypoint.. it is usually contested between the seraph and the tamini.. arena net can go as far as to make a dialogue out of this.. who are the seraph, they are the largest military organization in the human kingdom of kryta.. who are the tamini, they are the smallest portion of a three tribe centaur alliance against kryta.. why is there conflict, “i am too tired to explain it today”..

now, upon completion of the initial task, players will receive a reward paired with tokens.. possible rewards could be champ loot containers of various type.. 3 for the first task, 2 for the second, and 1 for the last.. although you are progressively rewarded less, you will gain a token per task.. this eliminates gating.. it will be on arenanet’s shoulders to organize a system that affords players fresh missions with varied difficulties.. possible token usage could be 50 tokens for a warbeast mini, 100 tokens for a ‘timeless mercenary’ title, 150 tokens for ?etc..

fun fact: there hasn’t been a substantial change to the daily system in 20 months

also, could you imagine a tyria where the open world lfg isn’t cluttered with the same flavor of the month content?    just a thought    ^^

i’m a casual, i’ve logged in 5k+ hours and am in no way detrimental to the direction of this game as i have functioning braincells.. you should really re-evaluate where your disgust is coming from and vent it in a more constructive manner

those games were scrapped to make gw2, gw2 was scrapped to make super adventure box, sab was scrapped to make gw1.9, which will be scrapped to make gw2.1

seriously though, if they didn’t make it too goofy it’d be fun

they’ll ride out the current software and bubblegum installments.. showcasing big events when they pool their resources.. they’ll eventually pump out a mediocre expansion and push hard with advertising.. and i think they will be the end of the franchise for awhile, unless they fortuitously trip over someone with a whimsical interest and huge resources..

i bought the gobler on impulse to see if the magic find buff would stack like the new food
well, the boosts you get are in fact boosts and so the answer is it does not.. it just replaces the need to use a magic find booster for you.. you do get a good Variety of buffs though, that are all simultaneously usable, gethering, speed even protection.. it may take half a stack of candy corn to get the buff you want though and the price will inevitably get gouged after holiday z_z

oh this game is so wonderful, look at the scenery, i even get to choose my own profession, and and.. the scenery.. ooo crafting! quaggan likes Mee

back in january it was still possible to grind out a legendary, but sadly i just don’t see it these days.. i have no trouble getting a reasonable amount of gold in this game either.. some people don’t like gear treadmill, but i enjoyed making my ascendeds.. if they work harder on balancing the professions i’d totally go for another round of that

umm, it would make sense if they added actual bo-staff skills.. an f5 attunement exclusive to staff elementalists would be lovely

orrian killer is good, it’s a daily that takes us out of our comfort zone.. it’s not kill 10 rats, it’s kill 10 orrian rats.. but that’s as far as it takes us.. i think the players deserve another daily system that keeps us a bit more engaged with the lore, the game’s playability, and things seasoned players may have overlooked..

to put your halloween gripe into perspective, this game has a bit of an elder dragon theme and dragon bash was canceled entirely.. i would have appreciated a small amount of content.. dragon’s reach was well done though, so as much as i would like to play a game that delivers all things within reason, this is one of the few times i’ll say ‘maybe you should be happy with what there is and hold your criticisms until thanksgiving’

i’ve been on since launch and i can’t say i’m invested so much in the halloween, wintersday festivals.. but i do show up and at least try out most of the things.. i completely skipped last years halloween because, to be quite honest i was tired of living story and also “oh, there’s a mad prince now?” ok whatever.. but after playing the intro this year i can say it was fairly entertaining..

trying for a general response based on the topic here.. playing the game since launch, i think arena net is fully capable of delivering acceptable content on a fair schedule.. i do however think their agenda skips right past common sense mmorpg decision making a lot of the time and it has led to some very, very sour implementations..

this past year alone i’ve seen them really commandeer and play to their strengths to make a better product.. yet, in between all of that i’ve witnessed some extreme absurdities.. if someone asked me today, i honestly couldn’t tell them if this game was going to sink or swim

expansion spoiler,
another continent is revealed with events and non-linear storyline.. you need to make several characters to play this.. while people are still getting adjusted 3 months into the expansion there will be a mob mash of raging elephants.. the entire playerbase will bask in the amazing add-on and zerg the king elephant down.. just when everyone is ready to explore the game and invite their friends along, there will be small bits of an 18 month confrontation against a quirky warlord.. we will all be intellectually stimulated at the revelation of a 7th human god, a 7th elder dragon, and an open world raid involving tyrias largest catapult.. while we are waiting for the expansions expansion, we’ll use our power-leveled characters to grind out the same event daily for a familiar loot set.. meanwhile, we can look forward to sharing whatever content hasn’t been removed with any newcomers..
