eh, my pal plays full marauders HGH with strength runes and it’s an excellent build if you can play it. I’m still stuck on cele, but HT, FT, TK/Egun, S, X works great tbh. running more offensive gear in wvw, but cele works great for spvp.
yeah but if you’re queued with a bunker who’s running shouts and soldiers runes you are set. burning is a non issue. so just run a proper comp.
stagger your cleanses. don’t blast them all on 2 stacks like a goon. dont go in the fire AOEs. dodge attacks that do lots of burn. recognise that all teams will run AOE condi clear which make burning builds very ineffective in teamfights.
i got 14 burn stacks from a burn guard on my engi today and i cleansed them. it was fine, he’d burnt all his cooldowns and i won.
considering how unexpectedly fun the Kunoichi is in BDO (and that’s compared to classes like valkyrie which is a joy to play. i mean it’s got a jesus beam) I’m hopeful for a ninja spec. could finally get me into theif beyond p/p. i know it would never get a double jump that can be comboed midair like the Kunoichi but hope is hope right?
im all about Hammer X/shield. sure it’s got weaknesses, but I’ve never minded being a specialist. plus none of my pals play bunker so when we que we need that dude withthe clerics amulet and the soldier runes.
if I want deeps i just play engineer and stack those burns.
Burning from DD is fine unless you walk through RoF repeatedly, tone down survivability a bit instead, or remove 1 condi cleanse IMHO.
my problem with it is the might tbh. it being hard to kill is fine, but it puts out too much pressure. however, less survivability could bring cele staff back which would be gorgeous for the meta.
there is a reason i never play pvp solo. it’s just not worth rolling the dice four times.

It would work if F2P accounts would:
- Not be able to generate, earn, or receive gold.
- Can still receive or purchase Gems from Trading Post.
you can also not let them whisper and many other things.
WvW and the temptation of large map huge scale pvp would cause many F2P players to buy the game i feel. HotM is cool as is pvp, but seeing and talking to all the players who own the full game will tempt them. for instance you could make friends who happen to also run fractals and would like you to come along, so you buy HoT to join them.
I’ve always only done the custom arenas to do the daily, hardcore pve person you know, but maybe I should look into playing the the ranked/unrated thing since you guys say the rewards are so good. I won’t be interested in doing any actual PvP, of course, but I could lurk at the spawn point till I see the opportunity to join up with a team mate fighting against another person, I will only need 3 of those. Then follow a teammate to cap a spot and on defend days help him kill someone. After that I could just join and AFK at the spawn point till I get my profession win. If being AFK ever gets to be a problem I guess I could jump down occasionally and let myself be killed so I don’t register for that. If it works out, there are some people I might be able to talk into trying it out.
Or, I could just keep on doing the PvP dailies in the custom arenas.
^ that’s why hotjoin needs to have rewards. removing rank progress on the other hand, i feel is completely fair. removing rewards is just going to make unranked into more of an afk cesspool than it already is.
my pal plays thief in pvp and he gets a ton of verbal abuse. he screenshots it all and makes it into collages that he uses for his desktop backround. it’s pretty great to be honest.
that’s the bunker warrior build i que with. im always in a duo minimum, and i find it works very well once you get the hang of it.
if your team is bad, or you don’t have faith in them swap axe for sword so you can rotate more.

Signet necro is extremely strong and doesn’t have any real counters. It’s tanky, applies plenty of weakness to counter power, constantly transfers conditions making it a very strong threat to condi-bunkers. A constant application of chill and cripple so it can kite or chase. It has everything you can want in a 1v1.
As I said, it’s only weakness is that it’s not super strong in team fights.
it’s still a necro though. so cc will still work.
Everyone here saying to run condi cleanses are probably running some sort of cheese burn build that carry them. No condi cleanse spec can continuously keep up with a burn spec such as burn guardian. So burns do need a nerf to the ground.
that’s why you kill the burn guard.
you are not going to be able to clear the burns indefinitely, but you can absolutely clear them long enough to kill the guard. defense is offense. stunlock them so they can’t burn, hit them with a 10k burst to they freak out and pop cd’s, etc. counter pressure is essential to success.
the same goes for power builds. you can only ‘tank’ them for a time.

you can swap Egun for TK if you want, both have their merits. it’s all about cc chains and baiting their condi clear so you can hit them with IA. the 40% burn duration really helps.

Right. That’s sort of how the farmboard works if you’re familiar with the back-end of the system — losses aren’t that punishing (for example, you can’t get kicked out of a division once you reach it, even at the highest divisions), while wins advance you. The point is it amounts to a pretty big grind.
did you even read the quote? it clearly says that in tiers above 3 you will drop divisions with enough losses. so to stay in division 5 you will have to keep your winrate up.

I haven’t qued solo for months. if I’ve got no guildies on i just go make a smoothie or log onto Black Desert. solo is too much of a gamble if you are trying to actually get the legendary. you will get things like scrub condi thieves, or no bunker comps etc and loose matches leaving you stuck in divisions 3/4.
team games where rotation and comp matter are stupid to play solo.

It seems like the leagues will basically be farmboards, while guild team leaderboards will be the actual skill-based leaderboard. Maybe that’s a reasonable compromise between casuals and more competitive players, but it’s certainly not leagues in the traditional sense.

d/d ele is a build with all pros and no cons. it’s no surprise stacking them is effective.
my proposal, which is albeit a tentative one is this: increase the number of might you can stack to 50, but half it’s value. adjust only some might stacking skills (empower etc) while leaving many as they are know.
furthermore ele is unstompable on the first attempt.
d/d ele does great hybrid damage, great team support, is very mobile, is hard to take down, and can’t be stomped on the first attempt. yeah, that seems OP.

this is dumb. LA has no training dummies, and doesn’t use pvp stats so you can’t test builds. why the hell would i want to be there instead of HotM where i have both on those things.
im not object to a HotM revamp, but it’s really not what pvp needs. we need more maps and gamemodes before a better lobby.
You completely missed the point. The idea is that people should be able to do whatever they want while they queue. In your case, spend your time in HotM for the reasons you mentioned. For others, they may want to do something else.

The settlers shoutbow build that TCG ran confused me a bit. I’ve never really played warrior, but I was under the impression that shoutbow sucks due to WH trait nerf and not being able to sustain well with cele, but is settlers really that much better? I might delete my revenant to try a shoutbow, just so I can compare its support to tempest with shouts (that are looking way tooo gimmicky).
im still playing shouts, but settlers is poor imo. only burning and bleed means your damage is easily cleansed. clerics with hammer axe/shield (or sword/shield if you need to rotate more) is much better imo. hammer brings cc for peels and focus, and x/shield brings a block, stun, and a burst skill to use with intel sigils.

ele is the easiest class because you just repeat a rotation for success. no other class can do this and succeed. sure, you have to learn the rotation- but that’s a lot easier than learning, say thief. furthermore d/d is strong in both sustain and damage, to the point of being widely considered OP. it can fight any other build with a good shot at winning, if not guaranteed win.
it’s not hard to see that a tanky class with strong damage where you just repeat a rotation is easy when the player jumps over the initial hurdle (learning the rotation). sure d/d gets more complex at higher levels, but at low-average the rotation spam will take the player very far.
hammer stuns and rampage still get necros blowing me kisses from downsate.
Abjured ran: cele, cele, cele, soldiers, marauders
Orng ran: cele, clerics, carrion, marauders, marauders
Abjured basically ran a bunker comp, and it seriously worked. cele ele has comparable tankiness to bunk guardian with superior damage at the expense of less team support (although it still has great support). Orng would have done far better if they replaced either the warrior or burn guard with another ele, and rotated to pair the remaining DPS class with bunk guard as much as possible so it could prop up it’s weaknesses.
Soldiers engi has great survivability against physical damage and CC, but condi builds will wreck it 1v1.
5G was running HGH and two elixirs, both of which clear condis. he’s actually in in not too bad a spot vs condi.
Yeah I didn’t realize that until I actually watched everything. I went to bed after the first abjured set when I thought they would lose since it was like 6AM in EST, so I was too much of a zombie to notice things like that.
also didn’t help that casters would talk about toolkit when he was running B.
landing CI and your hammer stuns will help, as will making the use of your zerker stance. assuming the ranger has two traps they will have one stunbreak so it’s about landing cc then bursting while managing your condis.
skullcrack could be a good build to run for the blocks/reflects and 4sec stun.

Guardians, Eles, Engineers applying 9+ stacks of burning in mere short seconds for 3444+ a tick is kind of over the top.
i just weapon swap on warrior and the burning is gone, and they wasted all their cds. ez
to the OP, bunkers have been in gw2 since launch because its a capture point game. so it makes sense to have a tanky dude who stands in the circle to contest/hold while supporting their team. 5 glass cannons does not work so well for this mode.
as far as condi goes, eh. I find direct damage to be much more of a threat. it hits harder and faster.

What is this sick idea everyone has that if you die to condis then that class is either overpowered or ridiculous or aids or tumors or stds or did nothing or skill less? I’ve literally heard all of these and more. No matter what class it is, if it’s condi and it killed you it’s “aids”.
Then there’s other ignorant ideas that go around such as, “how am I suppose to cleanse all of these condis?” Or, “why can’t my class cleanse everything like others?” Can you or can you not “cleanse” all direct damage you take?
People forget there are two kinds of damage in this game. Just because one is much less popular than the other doesn’t mean it’s any less fair and viable.
PS. I would like nothing more than to have condis be as popular as direct damage but with things like diamond skin, necro’s ridiculous transfer rates, structures taking no condi damage, and people screaming “aids”, it’s never going to happen.
I can choose which direct damage attack to avoid via dodge, los, etc.
I cannot choose, the majority of the time, which condition to remove with cleanse.
Therefore, it IS less fair fighting condi.
fair point. it would be nice if clears prioritised damaging conditions. However I should also mention that many skills that apply condis can be dodged. Furthermore when I que for pve I play shout warrior, which has AOE condi clense for the whole team. that’s an important thing to remember for condi, one person can spec to cleanse their whole team which often makes builds like burn guard useless in team-fights. this is why condi builds are not meta, because AOE clear makes them useless.
don’t worry anet talked about it months and months ago. they are a fast and efficient workforce so it should be being implemented right now. they are also going to fix mid air immobilise. oh boy, nothing is quick like anet.

obviously it’s just not a priority for them. they don’t care that pvp is bleeding players because of things like this. they got some bad pve to make and some awkward streams of mumbling to show us. but, don’t worry there are always more outfits in the gemstore.
