How is that silly? I can make that argument all day, every day. Burstiest weapon we’ve got, 3 forms of CC, auto-attack chain that procs a Protection symbol. Mighty Blow is a medium range leap that hits harder than anything else a Guardian has (burst-wise) and is an instant cast blast finisher (arguably the best blast finisher in the game). Very, very easy argument to make.

Binding Blades happens to be the most valuable weapon skill you have as a Guardian so I would not say Hammer is the best weapon.
1H Sword has a very good DPS but can unleash its potential only on single targets. It has an AoE Blind with a fairly low cd which is not something you find on lot of weapons. And btw, Blind is a strong condition even though ineffective on champs and legendaries.
And about the magic effect, it reflects projectiles.
There still are specific mobs I use the 1HSword against but not too much. This weapon, yet balanced, stays in the shadows of more suitable weapons given the situation. Or just because of its lack of utility (after all we are talking about Guardian).
I’m pretty sure that your opinion on Binding Blades is purely subjective. Very good skill for sure, but best…I don’t know about that.

Well…you have to be willing to compromise. You can’t have both really high HP and really high crit rate. I run Knights armor with a mix of Valkyrie and Knights trinkets (further mixed and matched jewels) and Berzerker weapons (currently Hammer/GS). I’ve got around 55% crit and 62% crit damage (buffed w/ food), +3K armor, and around 16.3K HP. I run a 0/5/30/30/5 AH build and have absolutely no issue with survival. On top of that, I dish out quite alot of damage with high crit and the burstiness of Hammer (Mighty Blow), mixed with the great sustained from constantly critting Whirling Wrath. You have to take into account all the additional tools for survival, that you posses as a Guardian (specced properly). In my opinion and experience, a properly built Guardian really doesn’t HAVE to have alot of HP to lean on…the survivability is built in through traits and utility skills.

They were on SBI from what I understand…i’ve only recently joined them. Good group of dudes, got some nice havoc squad stuff going on. Speaking of which, good fights to the other small groups out and about this past weekend.
I dunno you’d have to check with them. Maybe they were on SBI before, but they were definitely on BG up until the free transfer deadline where they moved to JQ. I saw them around sometimes, but they never got involved in the wvw community website as far as I know. They were probably feeling the server out and decided to hang their hat elsewhere. They picked up some words or praise from JQ and SoS players as great skirmishers back when BG was in T1 in January.
Anyhoo, the guild name still cracks me up. Yeah I’m easily amused, but that’s a good thing sometimes.
Fair enough, like I said…i’ve only recently joined. Like this past weekend. And yeah, I can see where they got a reputation for being solid skirmishers. We were steamrolling groups of 8-10 with our 4-5 on a fairly regular basis. Tough finding small skirmishes out there amongst the zergs though, lol. You have to have so much situational awareness and be on top of your group positioning to succeed. I enjoy and appreciate the challenge.

Not that I disagree with you on the difference between HoD and JQ,
But assuming that your server’s WvW population is stable is a huuuuuuge mistake. This is the same for every server in the game. I cannot count the times I’ve seen guilds on various servers talk about how loyal they are and how much server pride they have, only to bandwagon off the server to the next project three weeks later.
There is nothing “special” about JQ other than the fact that they have kept themselves from going through any really bad rough patches that actually test the commitment of their guilds.
Well…we’ve been through some rough patches, including an exodus of a few notable guilds within the first month or so of launch. But yes, I agree that alot of WvW guilds seem to be very fickle. Thus far however, the core guilds on JQ have remained completely loyal ( I speak of those that started on JQ at launch).
Anyway, as to the topic at hand. No way SoS drops all the way to T8, my guess would be T3-T4 as a few other posters have guessed. They’re being far to competative in T2 to expect a drastic plummet.

Well the reason I came on the forums is because it doesn’t seem logical for them to be able to instantly aggro you when you’re nowhere near them, have no sight of you and the player has no clue you’re there. I don’t know why people get so negative when a genuine question / comment is raised.

As long as they aren’t hitting you while in stealth…I don’t see a problem. And clones ARE technically pets, regardless of how disposable they may be. I’d suggest, if they start attacking you as soon as you exit your stealth, you may want to adjust accordingly. OR…you could come on to the forums and complain about it.

It’s more centralized around a growing trend of responses that seem to display this attitude. To be fair I don’t see where you explicitly say this, but the implication is that because the bug isn’t affecting your play style it’s not, as you say, a “real issue”.
It affects other people’s play style and it’s obviously a bug, so yes…this is an issue.

So bunker builds are popular because quickly popping a stun breaker is too hard even in a balanced build? Ok… I can see that… sadly…
Its not the popping of a stun breaker… Its using those stun breakers to avoid the damage… But the perpetrator can just reset and do it again while your stun breaks are on cd.
This is why whenever I see a Thief open up on my D/D Ele I just pop my Mist Form > Lightning Flash and RTL away and never come back. Fighting a thief is pointless, a bad one will stealth, keep resetting the fight or just down right run away when things don’t go their way. A good thief will probably do the same thing, so far in WvW you can’t really tell the difference because 99% of what I said is a normal encounter with a thief. Don’t get me wrong, I will fight any other class, but fighting a thief(in WvW anyways, not PvP) is the equivalent of banging your head against a wall.
I find it funny that some one complains about a thief being able to disengage from a fight… and then tell how they are able to do it themselves.

How about letting people enjoy the game the way they want and not worrying about it? There’s alot of damage flying around out there, some people just appreciate the increased survivability. Myself, I play my Mesmer full-on GC shatter. I can honestly say that this “issue” that you’ve brought to the forums, has never bothered me a single bit. It may also help to not be quite so condescending in your replies to people.

Clones are not a way to stay hidden amongst them indefinatly. Anyone who is not a scrub in WvW wouldn’t have to look at your clones to check for weapons as they will quickly pick up on the real mesmer.
So I stand by my closing statement that it caused no real issue.
What are you even arguing about? It’s clearly a bug. Why shouldn’t anyone who plays this class want this fixed? I fool good players with clones all the time.

Yeah, it truly is getting a bit tiresome having to QA these patches. I mean I get it that these games are very complicated, but come on. iLeap is SO important for a melee Mesmer to lockdown an opponent, I really, really wish they’d just fix the pathing and all the other related issues. I’ve run Sword MH since BWE 2, and Mesmer is my main, i’ve very nearly perfected the gameplay…and skill number 3 STILL tricks me from time-to-time, lol. And please, for the love of all that’s holy, let us know that the lack of a cripple is a bug and not yet another ninja nerf.

bunker mes? there is no such thing as a bunker build for mesmers… is “bunker” just your shorthand for any class you have trouble defeating?
Even a cursory glance in the Mesmer forums will reveal the existence, and in fact viability, of bunker Mesmers. I’d go so far as to say a Mesmer bunker is amongst the best bunker professions in the game.

I hope not! But honestly the iLeap swap combo happens so fast now that a lot of people haven’t noticed it… I do wish they would stop ninja nerfing us while advertising all the improvements that are in the patch.
Yeah, happens super fast, when everything works out…but that cripple is pretty big. At least for my playstyle. iLeap has always been (since BWE) pretty finicky…getting hung up on seemingly benign terrain, not firing off at all (when I would have SWORN I was in range), and just overall a pain to work around. IF the cripple has been nerfed, it’d be pretty annoying.

I would honestly support anet making transfers free to T8 servers with an uncompetitive matchup to help you guys out some.
You should transfer to FC…I heard it takes 20+ people from JQ to kill you. LOL! You’d be unstoppable there!
The individual skill level on JQ was very low last time BG was on T1… I had no problem handling equal or even slightly higher numbers while we were there.

It was a sarcastic post aimed at the person I quoted, and did not involve you in the least. I never bragged about my server, why would you be so sensitive about this? I’m sure you’re as amazing as you claim to be. I’ve found that people who make such claims ALWAYS live up to them. LOL.
P.S. I’m not under some sort of illusion that the best players are in the top tiers. I understand what wins WvW in GW2, and i’m positive there are many quality players in the lower tiers. Don’t be so quick to jump to conclusions next time.

I think I know what happened. I’m thinking ‘some’ people couldn’t handle losing and lacked the intestinal fortitude to even bother fighting back, and instead went the easier, softer way and hopped to BG. You can tell JQ does not care, hell they would recruit more if they got the chance.
Do you somehow believe that PvE doesn’t pay the bills for Anet? WvW is a very small fraction of GW2 in terms of playerbase. Do you really believe that Jade Quarry, a single server in the game, is ‘damaging’ the game by winning decidedly? Is the sky, in fact falling?
That is funny coming from a JQ player which is predominantly WvW. Actually WvW is what keeps alot of people in the game and makes most of ANet money. The WvW is the only place that builds server and guilds reputation, hence the bragging rights and people pay gold to transfer not for PvE but for WvW.
Needless to say any imbalance in the WvW is bad for both winners and losers as it affects their gameplay. Winning without challenge aka PvDooring and getting stomped all the time at the other end it is a game breaker, people lose interest after a while and eventually move on.
Right, but you cannot blame a server of gamers for flawed game design…that’s just ridiculous. Wouldn’t you agree?

I guess what I’m questioning is how can anyone on JQ feel any sense of accomplishment, when other than stacking your server, you haven’t really accomplished anything to remotely feel proud of? At least over the past couple of weeks. Before the stacking, who knows you might actually have been as skilled as has been implied.

Verdict is still out on Blackgate and how they will fare in T1. JQ is proven, BG is not…yet. Not to mention, with all the recent transfers Blackgates’ identity has changed. We shall see I suppose. But I would warn against chest thumping before your server has even won a single match in T1. Like, ever.
BG has never done poorly in T1.
They were proving to be at least as strong as the current servers but were pushed out by SOR fighting a dead server.
BG fared well before all of this. BG will only fare better now.

Every server “chest thumps” and thats half the reason i read these threads. some people are getting way too aggravated by folks being proud/excited they are doing well in a game and making a post about it.

Well, if you’ll reread my post, you’ll note that I never stated that BG ‘did poorly’ in T1. I said they’ve never ‘won’ a Tier 1 match…because they haven’t. And about the chest thumping, it’s generally better to chest thump when you’re actually winning, than chest thumping while you’re still playing in the Minor Leagues. I don’t think coverage was an excuse last time, we didn’t have it, not much you can do about it, but I know it wasn’t JQ that was in your words “steamrolling” BG, it was SoS, JQ just hid and played for second or ran up and waited for a good SoS/BG battle and then scraped up the leftovers, T1 was so boring I think I died about 1/2 as much as I have in T2 because in T2 people actually battle constantly,open field, keeps, towers, camps, water, everywhere. But I’m sure you’re much more fierce now that you have won T1 a couple times so I’ll be sure to be scared and hide in keeps and towers all day like you did while we were in T1

How many times have you won T1, how many weeks have you been there, actually the last match against JQ for some odd reason a bunch of the BG guilds wanted to stop fighting because of some reset reason, they clearly had second in the bag, not sure why they all took Tuesday-Friday off, made zero sense to me. Second isn’t that bad is it, you were stuck there for decades weren’t you?
JQ has won first 7 times. So, in overall 1st place count we have JQ 7 and BG 0. Noone ever said 2nd place in Tier 1 is bad. Did I say that? I’m just suggesting that you put your money where your mouth is. Because, as you can see, JQ has done exactly that.

Yes, it still counts as winning. The most points ‘win’ the match. Almost positive that’s how it works.
So maybe Anet should institute a handicap system, say like in golf, for WvW and even things out.

Verdict is still out on Blackgate and how they will fare in T1. JQ is proven, BG is not…yet. Not to mention, with all the recent transfers Blackgates’ identity has changed. We shall see I suppose. But I would warn against chest thumping before your server has even won a single match in T1. Like, ever.
BG has never done poorly in T1.
They were proving to be at least as strong as the current servers but were pushed out by SOR fighting a dead server.
BG fared well before all of this. BG will only fare better now.

We were in T1, JQ never, ever attacked SoS, they hid in their keeps until BG went on no coverage for 4-6 hours and then took all the PvDoor they could……it was impressive and I really felt like I was being Culled by the best, while we weren’t there, that is!

I don’t think coverage was an excuse last time, we didn’t have it, not much you can do about it, but I know it wasn’t JQ that was in your words “steamrolling” BG, it was SoS, JQ just hid and played for second or ran up and waited for a good SoS/BG battle and then scraped up the leftovers, T1 was so boring I think I died about 1/2 as much as I have in T2 because in T2 people actually battle constantly,open field, keeps, towers, camps, water, everywhere. But I’m sure you’re much more fierce now that you have won T1 a couple times so I’ll be sure to be scared and hide in keeps and towers all day like you did while we were in T1
Out of curiosity, what was the final score in the last match BG played in Tier 1 prior to being sent back to T2? I’m pretty sure it’d count as being ‘steamrolled’ by JQ. I’m sorry you haven’t won Tier 1.

Who in Blackgate has chest thumped and what is it JQ has proven? That they can play for second or third for months, I think Blackgate has proven they play to win even when massively out numbered as they were while in T1. Blackgate has played for first for months, so what is it you’re handing advice to Blackgate about…….finally winning something after months by crawling, and begging to others to stack your server. People came to Blackgate of their own free will
Yes free will but I’m sure the 2000 gold you guys paid to each guild had nothing to do with it. People actually came to JQ before free transfers were closed for our community, the fact that we are #1 just shows how well we work together.
I really hope you BG are ready to play in the big leagues not get pushed out after a couple weeks like you have historically because you guys reek of arrogance.

who got paid 2k in gold? FoE and AGG said no one paid them so who paid who. People came to JQ because you were T1 and if I recall Red Guard was there not to mention to went around begging..errr , recruiting, people are actually paying to come to Blackgate, who’s paying to come to JQ? What’s really going to be embarresing is if JQ loses considering BG and SoRs past and knowing they will fight each other, maybe JQ can play their patented sit back and only attack the weak during non coverage periods like they did the last time BG was in T1

SoR is quite a bit different now from the SoR you guys fought a while back. Didn’t you get the memo? They’re a very solid server. But underestimate them if you will…and even better, underestimate JQ. Again, when you’ve actually won Tier 1, the bluster will possibly have some validity to it…until then, it’s just nonsense to be honest.

Yeah I mean, SoR and SoS they so tired of getting steamrolled by JQ they just stopped playing WvW. You wonder why they always complain about not fielding enough numbers. Its because they know they aint got no chance in hell so why even log into WvW when playing against JQ.

I think I know what happened. I’m thinking ‘some’ people couldn’t handle losing and lacked the intestinal fortitude to even bother fighting back, and instead went the easier, softer way and hopped to BG. But hey, i could be way off. Either way, looking forward to crushing you and your server next week. Maybe this time we can get your guild to quit the game, instead of just the server, lol.
Do you have the slightest idea how much damage your server is doing to this game?
You can tell JQ does not care, hell they would recruit more if they got the chance.
Do you somehow believe that PvE doesn’t pay the bills for Anet? WvW is a very small fraction of GW2 in terms of playerbase. Do you really believe that Jade Quarry, a single server in the game, is ‘damaging’ the game by winning decidedly? Is the sky, in fact falling?
