Can’t really find a way to play nerfed warrior over new improved guardian, they got a huge DPS increase.

Then go play guardian.

My 30/20/0/0/20 greatsword build saw the loss of Heightened Focus and Physical Training. The former is a bit of a hit, but with the buff to Berserker’s Power I’m now sitting at +25% damage with the greatsword. The latter I ran for fun; and while I’ll miss it, its absence doesn’t actually hurt my build.

God. I feel like like if they put the armor in an NPC shop for 50 gold, people wouldn’t be complaining like they do now, even though buying with gems is 50% cheaper with the gold-to-gem conversion.

They could give them away for free and people would still find something to complain about.

Is the hysteria here as bad as it is in the warrior sub-forum? The patch notes look pretty good to me; but those guys are losing their minds because their precious ’zerker greatsword build took a bit of a nerf, which of course means the world is ending as we speak.

What changed for zerkers?

I didn’t see any GS skills in there. But then again I last used a great sword on my warrior during day one of headstart… O.o

Berserker’s Power and Heightened Focus were both moved to the grandmaster tier, making GS Warriors choose one or the other if they want to still run Forceful Greatsword. And since the burst ability for GS is meh, they were better off sitting on Adrenaline with these two traits.

ALL builds are getting cut down, almost every build used those two traits, are we playing the same class?

You just proved my point. If “almost every build used those two traits” then they were clearly too good. Thus the nerf was warranted.

Yes, basicly warriors have to give up rune slots/food/items to do what other classes can do…

Or, you know, you could “give up” healing and/or utility skills and get the same effect? Remember those? They’re those things you looked at and said “pft, utility? I think not! Those are reserved for DPS!”

Warriors are getting there damage cut down significantly, meanwhile Guardians are getting a damage buff and they already beat us in utility/healing/sustain. Now they beat us on damage too?

Again, it’s a very specific build that’s getting nerfed, not the profession as a whole.

And if you think Guardians out damage Warriors across the board, go ask them how they feel about their ranged damage. Or go ask them how they feel about their condition damage. Or ask them if their condition removal without giving up “give up rune slots/food/item.” That’s right, Guardians – and everyone else – has to make the same types of choices Warriors do when it comes to condition removal; they too have to use utility skills or “give up rune slots/food/item.”

And while you’re at it, ask them how much they have to sacrifice to get to a respectable health level. Ask them how much of a cushion their paltry ~11,000 health affords them against condition damage. Ask them how much of a cushion their paltry ~11,000 health gives them against burst damage. “But they have good defense and damage mitigation,” I hear you say. Good defense and damage mitigation isn’t free, it requires them to “give up rune slots/food/item.”

Funny how we keep coming back to that concept of trade-off, huh? That’s what seems to be the problem with many of you, you don’t want to trade-off offense for utility or balance. And then you cry the profession is broken because you can’t avoid crowd control? That seems awfully narrow-minded to me.

If you stand outside CoF for half an hour you’ll see the nerf is warranted.

So let me get this straight..you think the nerf is warranted because your class couldn’t get in a cof p1 farming group? I have an idea..why not form your own group with no wars or mesmers?

That is the stupidest reason I have ever heard to nerf the warrior.

You’re completely missing the point. The fact that the optimal setup for a five man party is four of one very specific type of Warrior build is not disputed, and it’s that one very specific build that’s getting the bulk of the nerf. If you’re capable of being honest with yourself then you’d recognize the nerf was warranted. If you’re incapable of being honest with yourself, then I don’t know what to say…

The people in this thread will whine and cry about how underpowered Warrior is until such time as they’re given a God Mode trait that allows them to win every encounter without expending an ounce of effort. “We’re tying our survivability.. condition wise, to being able to land hits. However at the same time we talked consistently as to how its difficult to land hits compared to other classes who can spam aoes.”

Sorry its not a learn to play problem, its a warrior problem. We have problems with being locked down, and Cleansing Ire only helps us when we don’t need it.

How can I get my burst off if i’m blinded/immobilized/chilled/crippled… ?

Mending
“Shake It Off!”
Signet of Stamina
Dolyak Signet
Balanced Stance
Last Stand
Restorative Strength
Dogged March
And last but not least: dodge the attack that inflicts blind/immobilize/chill/cripple/etc.

The tools are there even if you choose not to use them. When you stack your utility bar with nothing but offensive skills in the pursuit of the almighty dps you’re leaving yourself open to crowd control and condition damage. You’re making a conscious decision to sacrifice balance in the name of offense.

It’s no different than a full ‘zerker warrior complaining that warriors don’t have enough defense. If a dead warrior inflicts no damage, a cc’d warrior lands no blows. If you’re having trouble staying alive trade in some of that berserker’s gear for knight’s or soldier’s. If you’re having trouble hitting your opponents trade in some of those offensive utility skills for condition removal or stability.

Because it clears conditions on bars spent. If you are blinded for example the burst skill will miss thus it doesn’t help you. If you are shut down in mid burst or somthing again it doesnt help you. Also if far from one of the most powerful.

That sounds like a learn2play problem. If you don’t want to waste your burst to remove Blind, blow something else first then use the burst to get rid of the remaining conditions (if any).

Nerfing a class to fix a flawed dungeon design.

BRILLIANT.

It’s not just the dungeon (though that could certainly use some work), it’s the build. If someone asks “what build should I run for PvE?” and there’s one universal answer then the build is probably in need of a nerf. That you can’t admit this doesn’t change the fact that the build is a no-brainer for PvE, and no-brainers are usually no-brainers for a reason.

What do you guys do when you see another player? I logged into my Ranger and went to the Black Citadel starting area, I played with some people without titles and it got me thinking. This game is pretty horrible at grouping up. In GW1 I’d have ended up rambling to those players and done a few missions/dungeons with them. In this game I just move on.

The only thing stopping you from “rambling to those players” and doing a few missions/dungeons with them is you. Don’t blame the game for your antisocial behavior.

I agree with Fiontar I don’t see GW2 lasting really with Wildstar coming without having these types of things updated in this game. Use the profits you’ve made already for this game, it’s definitely necessary or you’ll have an exodus on your hands I’m sure of it.

I’ve seen you make variations of this “GW2 is going to be dead soon” in so many threads I’ve lost count. The sad part is you often make them in such jarringly off-topic ways it looks like you’re attempting to derail the topic at hand. Criticism I don’t mind, incessant negativity I do. If you dislike this game so much you’d probably be a lot happier finding a game you do enjoy playing instead of hanging around here trying to convince us all the game is bad and/or dying.

Your Home instance is USELESS. The changes that occur there, are all from the personal story, and they are all minor unimportant stuff.

It’s not as interesting as A-net hoped it would be, especially since the story was so uninteresting it self.

Of all the things Anet did wrong, I think this one is the most egregious. All the bugs, the balance issues, the conceptual ideas that didn’t quite pan out they they’d hoped, those I can understand and easily forgive. But for the home instances to be as bland and almost-pointless as they are feels like they abandoned whatever idea they had halfway through development.

As to what I’d like to see added? I’d like to see a Bard/Minstrel in the game in some form. I don’t have any ideas as to how to make them interesting, but making them kings of support/group buffs would be a good start. I don’t think they’ll ever be added, but that’s my vote for new profession.

The variety of roles exist, it’s the reason to use them that’s absent. Why bother with a support, crowd control, or condition build when direct damage gets the job done so much quicker?

Soldier's vs Knight's

in Guardian

Posted by: darkace.8925

Thanks for the replies.

You sure it’s only 90? That’s a lot of precision, assuming you’re also talking accessories too.

Anyway, it mainly hinges on whether you need the crit for on-crit effects. Do you run EM? Do you run on-crit sigils? If so, you should definitely consider it.

Accessories are Valkyrie’s/Beryl. I don’t yet know what Sigils I’ll be running, but as far as traits go I’m not depending on on-crit effects. Though the overall effective power only increased by about 90, the critical chance almost doubled.

yes; vigor on crit alone will outweigh the survivability you gain from soldier

… also; youd be best stating what area of the game this is for; as accurate answers will vary depending on that variable

My primary interest is open-world PvE. I run dungeons or and foray into WvW on occasion, but not nearly often enough to let them dictate my gear. And because I spend most of my time in open-world PvE Vigor isn’t exactly a necessity.

no one has a “right” to land, the charr had it then got driven out by the humans, thats just war. the humans got driven back out by the charr, that again is just war. In the lore the charr subjugated the grawl for the land now known as Ascalon. so if anyone has a “right” to the land it should be the Grawl, they’re a sentient race now too.

That’s not how things work in civilized societies. If the right to ownership was determined by might alone the strong would own everything and the weak would own nothing. “You have a nice house. You’d better hope you can beat me in a fight, otherwise it’s going to be my house.”

I do have one concern, however… the summaries read as if the changes are being made from the PvP point of view, which is going to change how WvW and PvE are played.

For example, most boss fights in dungeons do not have a boss running around.

The developers have said before that not all skills/traits/builds are equally viable across all game modes. So while a Confusion build might shine in PvP, the slow attack speed of most AI-controlled foes makes it all but worthless in PvE.

As I read it, I thought they are removing stun breakers from some of the cantrips. That’s your nerf, nothing else should be touched on them otherwise (based upon the article).

This is good news as I don’t want to be forced into a cantrip build for WvW (which I currently am).

I understand that part of it, and I do empathize with those who want something other than Cantrips for stun breakers. My concern is that if [insert skill here] was just right before (hypothetically), then that same skill also being a stun breaker might make it a bit too good, and thus warrant a nerf of some kind.

It’s not anything I’m going to lose sleep over, but selfishly I’d rather the primary function of glyphs (or whatever other skill gets changed) be nerfed for the same of making them also break stuns.

Anet hasn’t shown a vested interest in the forums.

At this point in time, I don’t see why Anet should take a vested interest in the forums. Most, as pointed out above, just complain. Most of those complaints are not constructed and are hateful or rude. If I was Anet I wouldn’t take an interest in that either.

Add to that the fact that everything they say gets misconstrued, sometime purposefully, and thrown back at them in the form of accusations of lying and I don’t blame the developers for keeping a low profile around here.
