so last night wvw was pretty active. there was a zerg but it was harmless. the group was pretty tight and also powering up. i was roaming solo and a few other newbies on my server had a small team going on. what the zerg would do is detach 1 war and 1 dh to handle the small group of 4 and next thing you know, those 2 guys rekt the newby team lol. i thought it was hilarious but sure enough, i was still tagging close to the zerg trying to bait someone. this was not our server’s zerg. after the war and dh went back to the group, a thief came out and tried to handle me. one thing lead to another and i KO him with cnd>steal>backstab. im there jumping on the thief and a mesmers comes out. bang! he didnt get rekt but sure enough i got him. so im just there moving back and forth like a bad kitten and a war runs up next. i tried my hardest to stay away from the war and only going in for 1 or 2 attacks. i pretty much missed all my cnd because i kept getting nervous. and when i did land cnd and a backstab, they would crit but it was always weak. i tried to interrupt(headshot or steal) but he always had stability and when i would rush to get him below 50% health his endure pain or defy pain would go off. he was impossible. 1 stun + 1 hit and i was already at 2k or 3k health. the damage was crazy. he ended up stunning me and using arc divider for 9k

point is, how do you guys deal with war and dont let me get started on dh.

That depends on what you are comfortable with, Full marauder will work but a little overkill, a mix of Berzerker and marauder w/ some valk can be optimal

i really like his variant 1 build, the stats look pretty good

I mainly try to play d/d to burst but I don’t relay on it. After I do Steal > Cnd > Backstab, I try to see what my target does next and that will determine if I switch mine weapon set. What I’m trying to said is, you can play d/d for the burst damage but always swap weapons. After all, that’s what gw2 is about. D/d on its own it’s just not enough.

I really like the video and editing. Once I notice all the flashing and effects I realized is wasn’t about skill but rather for entertainment purposes. I can’t imagine how much time and effort you put into it. Good job! Keep it up

im aware that its been in the game for a while but back then there wasnt any counters to stealth. now its getting ridiculous.

anyone else thinks they should fix/remove this?

you guys remember the speed movement update? when if you had swiftness, quickness or cripple that would determine the speed and distance of the skills.
well, guess what? that was on gw2 for like 2 or 3 years and then they worked so hard to remove that. well i believe its time for this track stealth thing to go away too.

there is more counters to stealth than ever before,
the power creed is off the charts,
and everyone has access to unlimited boons
(yes, i know im exaggerating but you get the point)

our mainly gain from dd is evades. is cool and everything but its just not enough when our main defense is suppose to be stealth. however, anet keeps making nerfs that effect us. im sure they are not seeing it this way and therefore they keep on sucking the life out of thief.

for all they see is a power creed thief who does massive damage with backstab and hides back again to rest the fight. what they dont understand is the skill cap. you either become good at thief or just move on to another profession. the second thing is that most thiefs or all thiefs are running full zerker/marauder with mainly focusing in vitality and almost no defense. whats the point on gaining defense, when you lose power and relay on stealth. oh wait! we cant relay on stealth because they keep nerfing the crap out of it. so we have no option but to go full power. either kill or get killed. see the point im trying to make

yes, im talking about chain skills. you know when you go into stealth and the skill keeps target on you? well it has finally gotten to me. i cant stand it anymore, and im sure it has effected you and everyone else.

it doesnt bother me that i was down in the video (it happens to everyone) but the fact that this bug keeps happening over and over again, its starting to become a real issue. especially now days where wvw is full of druids. oh wait! and theyre not just sustain druids but pew pew druids with their longbows & rapid fire skill. aside of that you have ele’s lighting strikes, mesmer’s clones when they shoot at you, warrior’s rifle, and even thief’s p/p etc, etc.

if no one demands for bug fixes then anet will just keep ignoring them. i understand its not an easy coding task but im sure it can be done. if not, then anet should reconsider thief when it comes to nerfs. for the example the no reason 1s in stealth cooldown.

lately, i have been thinking of transferring from Sea of Sorrows to another server because i feel like less and less players play on my server since we lose every week. then, i open up the transfer window panel and i notice, only 2 servers were full. compared to a month or 2 ago, when there was like 6 servers completely full.

im going to assume its because the semester just started and players are not playing as much as the summer.

or what do you guys think, should anet delete some servers to increase the population of overs?

after all, its not fun if youre the only person roaming in the entire map.

oh, yeah! thats f*** annoying. sometimes i cant even see it because of all the flashy visual effects.
also range skills that have multiple projectiles like rapid fire, ele’s lighting strikes, and war’s rifle that follow you and stay on you upon activation. even if it was less than a second when entering stealth.

if you are, than the gtx 1060 is great for you.
if you plan on playing like battlefield, batman, gtav and other graphics heavy games than go with the gtx 1070.

As far as ascended rings are concerned you can’t do much; the options are:
vendor it for 5s, keep it in case you might need it in the future, or salvage it if you have spare asc salvage kits. Amulets and accessories follow the same rules, but are a bit harder to come by, so keeping them is encouraged
Keep in mind that ascended weapons/armor are an exception and you can change their stats, making the potential random drop invaluable

i didnt know ascended rings could be salvage!? :O
but then again i never bother to look it up since before the salvage kits came out i destroyed all the rings i didnt wanted. like the ones with toughness, healing, vitality and all that source of things, tanky stuff.

same goes for the cpu. always plan ahead and just do a solid purchase. its not like you buy a cpu or gpu every year. well at least i dont. im still using my i7 3770k since it was released 4.5 years ago. only thing ive done to my system is upgrade the ssd and gpu. as the ssd got cheaper from $150 120gb to $150 500gb since i first build my system. and from a gtx 680 to a gtx 1080 because the 2gb vram to 8gb vram made a difference since i also upgraded my monitor 1920×1200 → 3440×1440

i understand not all amulets can be added but what about the sigils? except the on “kills” one.

this is one of the reason i dont play pvp. it feels like a whole separate game.

please give good and bad ideas of adding all sigils to pvp.
even if they have to be unlocked with the purchase of HoT or gold.

Just did all the math and I can save around 1300 gold. Assuming if I buy all the materials at list price. All I need is Gift of Baefire and Gift of Battle(no thanks to the update, i have plenty of badges of honor -_- )

Just remember that there is this thing that happens in people’s brains called “Buyer’s remorse” where someone is overly stimulated and excited to get something, then after a short time regret their decision.

Personally I would not spent 250 on a legendary, even if it sounds reasonable as a “its only a few hours of work at your job” thing.

250 can buy you a new video card, or a months worth of food for yourself, or countless other things that can simply have more “meaning”

If purchasing the legendary will fill some missing void in your life, then do it, because it will have meaning to you. If you want it because it is shiny, that is a dangerous slope to continue down.

Unlike a shop in town, where you can return something, this will be pretty much permanent.

You make a great point. I think, I rather just hold on to the thought for a week or two. That should give me plenty of time to realize whether if I still want it or not.

That’s what I needed to understand. In my case, I think I’m better of buying it. I don’t like grinding much and knowing I would have to do this for months, it will just brake me apart.

That’s exactly my mentality. Time is precious and I can easily make up the hours at work.

EDIT: After I calculated all the materials including the precursor, I spent a little less than 2000 gold. I did however spent some cash to get gold to finish getting all the materials. Everything else, I already had. I even have enough of the other currencies to make 2 more legends, not including materials. Only thing I’m grinding at the moment is the Gift of Battle, if it wasn’t for the reward track system, I would have been done.

It’ll be awesome if Anet would give us the option to display our latency ping # somewhere in the UI, kind of like the time.

Why am I asking this?

Because lately during 5-8pm central time, I’ve been lagging and I’m not sure if it’s the server or my internet provider(Time Warner Cable). I kept the Options window open to monitor the ping and I notice is not stable. It goes from 35 – 1500 randomly dropping and increasing. It’s almost unplayable, and I know its not software running in the background nor devices connected to the router. So it leaves me with those 2 options.

What do you guys think, should Anet give us that option? I’m sure it would help lots of other people too.

No, it does not need a internal cooldown. Its requires a trigger.
Just because Outrage has a 10s CD, it does not mean everyone will breakstun every 10s or use Berserker to gain access to Outrage.

To me, this is nothing compared to what I was trying to do a while back.
I actually made a build and tried to abuse RR with Runes of the Tempest.
Check it out, it consisted of 3 stunbreakers. 1 would heal for 7054 and the other 2 would heal for 5087. The healing was insane but the only thing that stopped this build from being viable was that it required a stunbreaker. Some people coundn’t figure out why I wouldn’t go down. While others who didn’t used fear or any control effects, the build was pretty much ineffective. Usually it ended up with me going down because all other professions had superior skills than warrior. (This was before the last patch, I’m sure adrenal health will give this build a boost.)

Point is, Warrior needs better skills than just mixing RR + Outrage together. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great combination. But its also in a tough spot, standing between Last Stand and Cleansing Ire and because of this, I don’t think they would nerf RR.

i lost interest a few months after HoT was released. the whole HoT grinding and wvw desert maps killed for me. but i been playing thief on the down low since june after i found out the wvw alphine maps were back.

whatever happen to runes of the defender + shield, not a thing anymore?
this is the last build i was running months ago, is it any good?

when i see a condi chrono i just run away, best way to fight them is not to fight them.

if he wants to roam untouched this is the best class to play,

i think the whole SA traitline needs to be rework, everything is scatter all over the place. some traits are pretty weak on theyre own, which makes the whole traitline not worth at all. so, why not join some traits together and bring back some of the old ones.
give me a reason to pick shadow arts, its suppose to be our defensive traitline.

for example, join this traits together:

Last Refuge and Concealed Defeat. just take away, Create a smoke screen when downed.
Shadow’s Embrace and Shadow’s Rejuvenation.
Meld with Shadows and Resilience of Shadows.
Merciful Ambush and Shadow Protector.

Bring back some of the old traits and/or add them to the current existing ones.

i remember back before HoT people would spam guilds or the teamspeak address to get people to join and have better wvw communication.

are you guys talking about the northeast, northwest or southwest of the castle? i find it rare and random when i see duelers there. at least in my server

i prefer the small scale and roaming scene. that way, i dont ever have to worry about joining a guild/zerg and wait for commands. i dont have a lot of free time for gw2 so i have a lot more fun 1v1 instead.

nice! i was keeping an eye on that laptop for someone but they just decided to go with a desktop. how much did you pay for it? i know it was on amazon for $700-800 for the 250ssd model.

later on when im home, i’ll upload a picture of the game graphics settings. so you can just copy them.

remember to remove and disable any of the junk software that comes with dell and almost every new laptop.

EDIT: i “think” those are the best settings for your laptop. from fps to performance(graphics) to heat produced, ratio wise. you always have the freedom to change them to your liking. see image below.

i say you go daredevil and give my build a chance at the same time

i try to burst my enemies as much as i can with d/d when im roaming. if thats not enough, then i go defensive with d/p (as you saw i did with the first thief). its really hard to have a all around build to deal with random people in wvw.

i also have another set of zerker armor with hoelbrak runes and i also change the food, if there’s too many condis during the day (-40% condi duration)

It could work it loses out on Buffed potential since running CS you have Fury 100% uptime.

this calculator could be use better for constant pve damage but not wvw.
