I have a damage calculator according to the information on GW2 wiki but my damage is slightly off when i test it in pvp with the golems. either the crits are to high in my calculator or the crits are too low in game. when it comes to non crit hits the damage in game is either lower or higher than my calculator.
so what question is, does anyone know the weapon strength range of the weapons in pvp and if the golems defense still remain the same.
heavy, 2600 armor
medium, 2200 armor
light, 2000 armor
let me know if you want a link to my excel calculator because some mod forums jerk moved my post last time.
(edited by darkaheart.4265)
hhmm something is wrong…im testing the basic and its not the same within in game vs the golems in pvp. unless the coefficient or weapon strength min-max is off
Damage = Weapon strength * Power * Skill coefficient / Armor
im using a thief and testing out cloak & dagger and backstab
@SlyDevil
i pretty much did it how it shows it on the wiki page, did you look at the equations.
ill add the vulnerability and critical chance average over time
@DarkyAnime
well i just made it yesterday but it feels like it’s slightly off already, not by much though
plus idk how to that, ill have to do some more digging on that, however i wont mind if someone just puts it on a big fan site though
need some help here please
i made a damage calculator in excel since i couldnt find one on the internet.
the only problem is that its slightly off, i think!
could someone test it and correct me please
just make sure you look up every coefficient for every skill that youre going to test as well as the armor of the opponent.
download it, enable editing and then enter the values
im not a expert on excel so the equations might look a bit long :P
EDIT: updated the link

@Vornollo
hmm pack runes go very well with valkyrie armor, tons of health there but if it was my build all ill do is change DA to CS, food to Furious maintenance oil and ill get more ferocity + no quarter = around 250% crit damage, sigil of fire to sigil of acc, but except ill never go all ascended.
first i dont want the advantage over others so ill just go all ascended trinkets,
second ascended armor and weapons are a fortune
so i guess ill try this for now and mess around with Acro and DA until i get good(and like the trait line), then ill upgrade to pack runes and see if its worth the change from ferocity to power and change the sigil of acc to sigil of blood
BTW has anyone tried s/d with mesmer runes? i feel like the stun from sword could be annoying but idk if it could be viable
I’m not one to critique builds so just a couple of questions that might help me in turn. If you’re going Tricks for condition clear and you already have the critical uptime, why not go with Flanking strikes for another possible condition clear and a little Haste while you’re already hopped up on Fury? Comparably, if you’re already going with Thrill of the crime why not pimp out Steal all the way with Bountiful Theft and switch around a few things for killing speed?
Also, if you are going Tricks condition clear and cooldown reduction and not full killing speed, why not take out that signet synergy and put Scorpion wire or maybe Roll for Initiative and get Basilik Venom instead? I’ve tried to use the other elites being S/D pretty much all the way through and BV seems the most consistent and applicable to what my roll is normally, though weapon set shouldn’t imply playing style, I’m only curious and I like to try out stuff people mention on this forum.
im going to answer your questions as i read them along.
if i use flanking strikes, i might as well just use DA and speed up the killing with executioner, right! :P but im not because im still fairly new to thief.
im also going with bountiful thief and not trickster because i dont think its worth the 3.5s reduction and the 1 condi removal worth the, plus vigor is more valuable with acrobatics and the 2 boons.
by signet synergy, i think you mean infiltrators signet and idk, we all like to shadowstep lol but then ill have to remove the signets of power and go with side strike trait, but ill see maybe ill just try it out.
as for the elite, ill be in wvw so ill be changing that often depending on how i feel.
i like both skills, especially when you run into a ranger and pop dagger storm while they use rapid fire on you lol
i might also try out the runes of the centaur since theyre stupid cheap and very similar to runes of the pack, without the +125 precision, might and fury. im hoping it’ll stack with Don’t Stop trait so -100% cripple
Mawdrey costs roughly 84G to make.
would you rather make another one or just change the stats like any other ascended armor or weapon? thats roughly the cost of ascended armor or weapon piece
A few of them can be stat changed when you infuse them
- _ – so spend more money instead, i already knew that but thanks ^_^
so i figure out the jump sword trick
first you must press both keys at the same time, not J and then 2 or 2 and then J
J=jump, 2=sword skill #2
if you J+2 and then 2 or J+2 – trick will work, you dont shadowstep back
if you 2 and then J+2 – trick will not work, you will shadowstep back
(edited by darkaheart.4265)
Anyone else here with me?
Ascended back items are even more expensive than a ascended armor piece or weapon
so i guess ill try this for now and mess around with Acro and DA until i get good(and like the trait line), then ill upgrade to pack runes and see if its worth the change from ferocity to power and change the sigil of acc to sigil of blood
BTW has anyone tried s/d with mesmer runes? i feel like the stun from sword could be annoying but idk if it could be viable
(edited by darkaheart.4265)
i feel really slow without the speed runes though, even with the first build but i might just change the trickets to full berserker to gain more precision. i also need the vitality from both runes since im still on my training wheels D:
i dont really know any combos, any advice on that
still fairly new to thief but i want to learn to use S/D so what do you guys think about this build
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vZAQNAsYVl0MhKnYpTw7JQ/EH+ElvJWioYHAv2Z2TrWoNB-T1BBwAYV+B4UAgT9nU6Dg8EAWu/wZlgBAQA4m38m3sNLFgg6sA-w
i already own both armor sets, i just need help with the traits and picking 1 set of runes over, also if you guys could share some tricks
does jump #2 with s/d still works? or how do you know execute that trick, i cant do it unless it got patch or something
EDIT: so i figure out the jump sword trick

just another small montage of my condi build :D
I play power d/d thief and im also not that advance so what do you guys think about this build

[there might be a bug with weakness being applied to everything skill on their website]
is this something this guy could be looking for?
Taking out Perplexity runes kind of kills the purpose of Distracting Strikes and the whole idea of a condi CC build dealing with confusion.
Also by taking out arms to get defense youll lose a lot of benefits from arms, you already know all the traits youll be losing but youll definitely gain more survivability.
Kind of like my condi build and me taking out tactics for defense.
@Elegie
do you have sinister trinkets? theyre a pain to get a hold of, i gave up hope on obtaining them and just got the armor and weapons instead, thats why i used my rabid trinkets on my build :P
In overall i think lb/ss is superior
i think you should just stick with the same armor and plex runes and just take out arms for defense and see how that goes
So earlier i watched your video on my phone and wasnt sure if it really looked viable but now that im home i played it again 1080p 24" monitor and the first thing i notice was the language lmao it has nothing to do with it but im just curious to know what language is that? :P
i also noticed all the fights where in EotM, for what i know a lot of players just karma farm so i kind of doubt any good roamers or experience players would go there.
usually player base skill, pvp>wvw>EotM ? pve
…how did you do vs thief? i usually dont last long with my condi and they mostly rekt me if its a experience player, especially since i have to be fast with my mouse and click on them so my bow can actually hit them and when i get too close and use flurry they usually steal from me and counter me with that whirl attack but its too strong to just stand there and let flurry do the work or i wont even dare to swap to bow because they reflect everything
(edited by darkaheart.4265)
oh sweet, someone actually tested this build. i wanted to but i wasnt down to buy the perplexity runes…anyhow, how those the build perform?
the first fight look kind of tough with that necro, especially since all the condi removal you have is brawler’s recovery, berserkers stance and healing signet.
it all seems the build can be pretty kiteable since there is no longbow and even with all the toughness did you burst often by other classes? or did weakness played a major role on keeping you alive?
overall would you recommend this “dynamic” build over the regular lb/ss condi build?
since apparently everything is cheesy outside of gs/x lol
i can already tell this wont make a difference unless if it favours condi and if its dual handed, other than that just think about the skills.
it will definitely not replace GS so itll be
gs/torch + torch?
gs/ s + t?
lb/ s + t?
lb/ t + t?
lb/ t + s?
I havent updated my build since the update and i still have full zerker with str runes and ber+val trinkets but most importantly i need some speed, so i really want to stick to traveler runes
what do you guys think? its for roaming, mainly solo
Are the stat bonuses you get from the travelers set integral to your build? I found with all the tick ticks of them conditions that are now laid on , more vitality never out of fashion especially when roaming.
Runes of speed can significantly boost your health and if you find it ample you can then tweak food/consumables or armor to boost the stats most important to the build. (ie 36 more in things like healing just do nothing for the build, you will not miss 36 more armor and so on)
sweet deal! i didnt know there was another set of runes that gave 25% speed
now i can make my build, it lost a bit of vitality but gained more power

cool thanks…must type 15 letters
so i really want this sword and i know i have to play gw1 to get it but the question is, whats the minimum i have to do in gw1 to obtain 10 Hall of monuments in gw2?
has anyone done this just for the sword? and what did you do in overall?
(edited by darkaheart.4265)
i was so excited last night when i finally ran into a condi ranger that i wanted to solo with my condi build but group was being to stubborn and just wanted to kill bc it was a ranger :/ condi rangers are rare now
go through pages 1-5
this topic gs/hm build is overrated
so last night we actually got to duel
Darkaheart vs TheNatural
Sinister with Rabid vs Full Dire
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHms--Ka8rs
2 Condi builds with different gear and very different stats. TheNatural won most of the duels though. how? well watch the video
@TheNatural
I feel very dumb for not noticing you were running Frenzy XD lol I didnt realize until i was going over the videos and how you kept doing that Flurry -> Frenzy combo. The only thing i change was Heightened Focus to Burst Mastery halve way through the duels but oh well its done already :P
I also learned when you reflected my Combustive Shot it become your firefield, good thing to notice since i never had that happen to me.
(edited by darkaheart.4265)
@TheNatural
we can actually duel in wvw now your condi vs mines >:D
@TheNatural
I thought i had told you in PM
FA server was full so I joined SoS instead
yeah pvp is different than wvw, i used that same build before but sometimes ill win and lose more than overs. i hate doing matches, always queuing, group not working together or always got picked first, more like massacre all the time, war is nerf as F and everything feels slow so yeah lol and before the update i remember just seeming thiefs, mesmers, eles all over the place
@Elegie
sorry but im a precision guy and i favour arms and sword :P
you should be our guess and try out that or a similar full dire build and show us how you do i can tell you like longbow over sword already
I feel like i just need more practice with my build and pay more attention to my opponents, maybe start kiting lol
cant ask more from stats though
(edited by darkaheart.4265)
what about this bunker right here, zero crits, no arms line and bow over the sword
@Elegie
Whats your condi build? is it that link you posted last time?
ill go ahead and try it since i have all that gear already
here it is
http://youtu.be/yKL8n-xvdF0
i made a lot of mistakes, sorry for being human :P lol
and obviously im not a pro at lb/ss so dont get too loud and try to keep it low XD
some of those fights i could have won if i didnt make all those mistakes and others i just got rekt or were just too easy so i didnt included those. also sorry for not putting any vs warriors, thief, engi and only like 2 guards, 2 eles, 2 rangers. this were just the latest videos i have saved while using this 2 builds.
hope youre a better warrior than me so you can do better :)
what build did you used Ilias?
As a warrior, I don’t think one can condition-burst efficiently, e.g. apply enough stacks to successfully deal a significant amount of damage in a short time (maybe with confusion-on-interrupt, but it’s off-topic here). Opponents will however have condition reduction food, and condition cleansing. As a result, I think that the best way to build a condition warrior is to maximize condition intensity and condition application, and then focus on utilities and defense.
If you run fully ascended gear, and build your guard stacks, you already have 2k+ of condition damage. To me, that’s way enough to kill anything, so focusing even more on condition intensity has severe diminishing returns – I’d even say it’s a loss, comparing to what you could get instead.
In that perspective:
- I don’t think that the Arms line is interesting, when we already have that much of condition intensity. The line also tries to optimize Fury, but in our case, the critical damage would be too low (by nature), and on-crit effects are limited to the rate of procs (too low in regards of the investment).
- Sinister gear brings a damage type variation, but it’s only useful against classes with condition immunity (Diamond Skin elems) – because all other classes die to conditions.
So, keeping in mind that we want to optimize the Combustive Shot (spam it as often as possible, stay into it, leap into it, use your projectile finishers into it) and Immobilization, I’d have the following suggestions:
- Go full Rabid instead of Sinister, and abandon the Arms line, in favor of Defense/Tactics/Discipline. Granted, the minor traits of Tactics don’t work well with the build, but the major traits are great, especially in regards of condition application.
- I’m not sure about the Runes of the Nightmare. In such a build, I’d probably simply go for the Runes of the Undead. But why not?
- Consider Bull’s Charge instead of Endure Pain. Toughness is higher with full rabid, and Bull’s Charge works well with Powerful Synergy and Warrior’s Sprint.
- Consider Burst Mastery instead of Heightened Focus. It significantly reinforces the synergies between Combustive Shot, Cleansing Ire and Powerful Synergy.
- Consider the Sigil of Torment instead of Sigil of Energy. If you have lots of precision, then you might as well try and optimize it more (but the Energy Sigil of great, no denying that).
Arms is too good to leave though, 33% chance for bleeds and vulnerability on crits, 33% duration on bleeds and 5% damage while there bleeding, furious helps a lot to build those condi burts, plus another free 150 condi.
cant leave sigil of energy behind, i hate lacking endurance and not being able to dodge
but this is the sweet spot, my offensive build got down too often because it was too vulnerable and my defensive was too weak but survived longer, so i just used my offensive wear and put on the defense trait line and it works like magic now results were better than i thought
ill see if can upload a video today, to show results
is a disappointment to have condi warrior at the bottom of the food chain. i was hoping this update was a improvement to our condis but its not to actual other skill players.
im been roaming solo on Sea of Sorrows vs Yak’s bend and Fort Aspenwood and all i run into are mesmers and necros.
mesmers: are too op even vs zerker warrior. rekt
necros: with that giant health pool, condi warrior doesnt last and if they have that op skill to transfer condis back to you and youll just be killing yourself. i usually get then more than half their health before im down.
eles: only ran into 3 of them, 1 rekt me, 1 group showed but it was 50/50, tie both of us were down but more likely eles will still win
engis: didnt ran into any of them, surprisingly!
thiefs: tie-50% unless theyre freaking good! always got ambush and burst down
ranger: more than 50% chance to win a few solo fights
guardians: 50% but only ran into like 3 or 4
zerker warrior: no chance if they have -40% food, hoelbrak and dogged march(defense)
same argument goes for Balanced Stance and Stand Your Ground.
other professions skills are just a downgrade for warrior
ranger’s longbow>rifle
mesmers specialization> warrior sprint and dogged march
etc… (you probably some other ones)
this is the way i see it, the purpose of the skills are for instant quickness to pull off a quick combo. so having a breakstun on our frenzy is awesome but we most likely wont waste it on that. the 5 stacks of might is good but not good enough compare to fury as we all like to make sure our attacks crit within our quickness to execute our opponent. lasty is the CD and duration of quickness, this is where all the B.S. comes and why the should buff warrior.
Frenzy: 6s quickness 60s CD
FMW: 5s quickness 30s CD (can be activated 1 more time than warrior in the same CD AND share quickness & fury with party!!)
yes i am aware its a elite but compare to warrior is a joke, and they can lower the CD if they traited -_-
if we trait our stances we just get 1.5s of quickness/might and vigor but with the buff stick and move 10% damage you probably dont want full endurance while you use quickness and probably wont replace cleaning ire for that small gain
Frenzy vs Feel My Wrath
any opinions
a quick update, i didnt have enough time to test the offensive build this weekend and when i was actually testing it, i was roaming solo and kept running into small groups that just chased me down and was never able to get away so keep that in mind
1. I’m not the only one who hates to gamble.
2. I would rather pay 800 gems for the whole dye pack, account bound or give us the option.
3. COME ON! its just color, this should be free in the first place.
4. There is someone out there buying all the low quantity rare dyes and just over pricing it, +800g.
5. I used to play the flipping game back when I was playing RS but GW2 has to much actions and I have limited time to just play another flipping market game. So no, Im not going to do that again.
6. We all love a free market but somethings just give an advantage, especially things coming out the Gem Store.Some rich dude who doesnt even bother much about dyes and the way he looks, just bought that dye for 800g, just to make you jealous.
Thats crazy! I wouldnt mind buying the whole pack if they sold it for 800 gems($10) instead of gambles because thats already like +$90 by the time it gets to flippers. so that just pushes people away, instead of encouraging players to try new dyes.

sh shh shhh sshhhh!
what do people want, rework skills or just more buffs?
Does your build have any potential in sPvP too? I would like to go full condition because i enjoy playstyle of it: LB + Sw/Sw or shield. I’m casual PvPer and i don’t care about meta, i just want to have some fun in random, non rated PvP. Is condition build so far behind Power one that is not worth taking it even for randoms?
Also what elite should i go for: Rampage vs Signet or banner?
gs/hm is better than condi in PvP but to answer your question, idk probably not. i dont play pvp for many reasons so yeah. however the build does lose 50% condition duration(from buffs) and sigil of incapacitation in pvp though. if you decide to try it out in pvp, ill suggest you replace that sigil with sigil of earth, battle, torment, hydromancy or bursting. also try to focus burning duration for the firefield and maybe going defence, pretty much chances the build.
Juular@
you havent so just go away.
So why Blademaster? It only gives 20% crit chance to bleeding foes, so 50%?70% only on sword+fury?90% and only way to get fury is through Signet of Rage, Opportunist or FGJ.
Cooldowns are Savage Leap 8s?6.5s and the rest are 15s?12s
and that only benefits sword compared to sharing 150 condi with both weapons, plus now we can always keep that 150 extra condi and fury, 70% on both weapons, because we can use longbow to cripple?Leg Specialist?Opportunist?Deep Strike
(edited by darkaheart.4265)
direct warrior will always beat condi warrior, i know that for sure lol and yes i understand warrior is not a condi class and other professions can do better…
but this weekend i will for sure have a stress test of the build and see how the build does against other classes with the immobilize idea and also try out Reaper of Grenth and Throw Bolas
Since the update, I’ve really been all into my condi build because I’m just trying to make the best out of it. Yesterday, I finally obtained all 6 Nightmare runes but I haven’t tested it out yet. The build is fairly easy and common sense to put together, check out the link.
Its base of max condition duration, full rabid (weps, armor, trinkets), Rare Pizza Veggie and Toxic Focusing Crystals, +65% condition duration, 85% on burning and 98% on bleeding.
But what really makes it shine its the 1.75 seconds of auto burn from longbow and 1.75 seconds of immobilize(the build editor is wrong). Every time you cripple, you can immobilize with either sword or longbow, plus combine that with Flurry, Pin Down and Throw Bolas(6.5s) over another utility but I’m not sure if that’s a good idea yet. Anyways, Sigil of doom is increased to 10s and fear from Nightmare runes is increased to 1.75s(best part is, it doesnt active on you but automatically on your opponent).
I also like how the traits work, going from cripple-> Leg Specialist-> Opportunist-> Deep Strike work all together. If Heightened Focus ever activates on longbow you can easily stack up a lot of burning and if youre on sword, same goes for bleeding or just use flurry right away. First build, I feel that actually needs Tactics without being support.
Leave your thoughts on what you think about the build or if its just plain bad.
