Hi agreed i dont remembre when i last saw P/P thief or even p/d since bouth #3 skills are usselses with p/d required 2 connect to be used
Sneak Att hits much lower than unload and is crap skill by it self,and generaly with 900 range pistols auto att is prety low considering that ranger and ngi have 1200/1500 range with rifle and LB that hit musvh much harder and now with buff for ranger rapid fire u will be very lucky to survive that RF at 1500 range….
I agree pistol needs rework on most of it skills sadly.
I might be wrong since i played theif mainly in Cb and shortly after,but CB detonation did not cost any ini or just one(my memory is bit blued here),any way when they nerfed range they also nerfed ini cost as well(if remembr correctly it was due to some venom aura heals or somthing where detonatng haeald for heafty amount), that im sure of…

I totaly agree with quelin on this one,much of it depends on how other teamis playing.
I suggest to my team mates at the beggining – def points and if some1 goes for far it should be only one thief or highest dps player.
Ina team where u have 4 skilled players this will win any time over hold 2 point strategy ,simply cause that one player holding far will come to help mid or put more preasure on far if no1 is giving him hard time home.
Its a simple fact that due to some skils,like stealth that defending team will lose control over a point while other tam will still have their point ticking unmolested.
Another scenario is wher we take far with 3 players adn just reap benefits off 1-2 players feeding us adn dieing one by one.

Over-all winer is wr, since they can ful fill any rolle in team ,bunker ,far point assulter due to high mobility, home defender u name it…
They can also do any rolles in wvw, so yeah WR is far above other proffesins right now.
Guardians in any game mode s-t/pvp if they shoose some othe build rather than buker point holder are generaly criticised sinec no other calss can do that role beter than they do.
Some bunker engies are now on par with guards hoding points, but still most of teams will prefer guard and engi, then only engi holding point.
Then you have spirit ranger and mm necro bouth good at holding points,and that is what it all about in s-t/pvp , holding points.
Mesmers (with portals) and thiefs are good at fast decap ,but due to stealth mechanics not really good at bunkering.
Since dec. 10, due to diamond skin ele can full fill this bunkering role but still lackig compared to ebgi,guar and wr or even mm necro or spirit ranger.
There is also one build for mesmer and,1 for thiefs that can hold a point at this time but they are class -d for that rolle.
So my list based on how many rolles a class can do effectivly in current s-t/pvp
1-WR
2-Engi/Necro
3-Ranger
4-mesmer
5-Thief
6-guard(even tho they excell at bunker rolle, u will never c a team running offensive guard since ur gimping ur tem if u do so)
7.ele
WvW is entirely different aspect of the game but still wr is most versatile of all.

DS is nice whether its a condition or spike dmg ,it changed way of playing and gave u lil bit more time in earth but that is all,u do realize that with soldier amulet its just 1.5-2 k dmg u need to take before DS becomes useless.
With settlers or rabid, which u need for conditions u have just 13k hp ,that is one hit and your DS is off.

So iv been with GW2 since cb times, then i took some time off and came back some time in april and started playing again.
I usually play one class for a month or so(s-tpvp), then switch to another so recently i was trying to play ele again.
And this feels so frustrating after all those classes that im simply baffled with state that ele is right now.
First i used s/d fresh air as iv met some players in game, while playing other classes, doing nice dmg ,
but i found out this build have 0 tolerance for mistakes,
since you use rtl offensively and have 2 arcane as other utilities ur means of escape are 0 .
SO i switched to something more def 0.0.10.30.30 s/d and s/f
then i tried out some variety like fresh air with EA

done nicely in supporting my team and fighting ranged spec classes, u have 3 projectile blocking skill on relatively short cds
You would think that is ok and if u can at least support ur team ele is ok,but problem is that after playing guard ,ranger necro wr ,Mesmer
ele is so lacking in a way that no other class is
U have to either spec for total defense and hope that other player will make mistake before you ,or u can spec for high dmg and and hope u wont make a mistake or the player wont dodge your burst since after that u r left defenseless/
This is most notable when defending point 1vs1 against h/lb wr, bunker guard,bomb /kit regen engi and mm necro. they can defend as good if not better then u and dish out a LOT more dmg
even memsers and thiefs have builds that can def and out dmg u.
i had fight with wr that just stood on a point and didnt do ANYTHING,but still couldn’t get his hp below 50%
guard will just heal up to full health and necros will hm go smoke and have coffee while minions do the job,and all the while im bashing my Kb like a mad man
So i said to my self one thing i didn’t try is build a condition ele,and this is where disappointment almost made me quit.
After recent patches most of other classes have cond cleans every 10-15 sec and depending on a class its 2-3 conditions cleansed.
scepter ele can apply 2 sec of burning on auto att. but that skill is really slow
dragon tooth is a joke as well as phoenix,some may argue this but play against ppl who know how to play and they can walk out from Dt and just strife from phoenix.
U can opt to have burning precision but it has 30% chance to trigger and im wondering y did engis,necros, get this same trait with 1000% success rate,if we r masters of elements
Then we have bleeds which ridiculously hard to apply by ele ,even with scepter earth since this att is also very slow slow and moment u go out of earth u r done:(
These are just examples but problem is that any other clss has so much cleaning that these two dmging conditions are so easyly cleansed by other classes that players dont even notice they had some conditions on them.
Another thing as lowest hp pool class and lowest armor all amulets are useless to ele,
For sigils u have to go crit and that leavs u with no defence at all.
So condition ele doesn’t have dmg or deference no matter how u trait or equip,there is no high risk high reward for ele option
no poison unless sigil and that is on 10 sec icd
no torment at all
no confusion
no retaliation,or i just missed something important
There is only one good fire field on oh dagger
only 2 watter fields on staff
scepter /focuss has some blast finishers but u have to work with one lousy fire field
utilities give no condition dmg or if they do its on so high cd that no1 ever uses them,
i mean glyph of elemental power and SoF (20sec single target)-SoW(30sec singke target) with 1 sec cast time????
I know that i wrote a lot of stuff that has nothing to do with condition ele,and it may seam like rant to some1,but i didnt wnat to start another thread just to point out some of my observations .

make conjures something like spirit weapons theyr still bad
and have them apply some cond
some more fields
utilities with conditions,
So ele need a bit of love ,pls give us a hug or just a hand shake will do,this ignoring is painful.

Engi can do lot more blasts on his won wf and have acess to light smoke and fire fields,not sure if i missed some

I have same problem itstarted few hours ago,i did play after a patch but now i get log in screen -character select and then when loading of map starts game crushes
,my pc is perfectly ok tested with some graphical programs

Yesterday i had apleasuer to meat player rank 30 who comes 2 spvp to farm daily !!!!
I asked why not hot join he sadi im kitten ed,so obviously punishment for farming is not enough.
Yet after just few games i met other guy rank 4 this time who made few mistakes which we pointed out to him ,we won the match, and after i told him to take a look at some videos from sensotix and other forum guides and learn wht he should do.
Answer is, well “why bother when i can learn first hand form competitive players.”

While i generaly agree wioth this its not a rule for everyone,some stealth/evade thiefs-stealth mesmers- bunker engis,wr and guardians are perfectly,capable of just doing this hold 2-3 enemies for 20-30 sec. It is risky but sometimes it paids of.
I have a rule that if i encounter a class/player that i cant beat 1vs1 i tell my team mates that i cant beat that guy and switch position with some1…
So thats my rule- dont go in personal duels just for vengence if u can avoid it…

You said you are more of a lone wolf type…and I think that explains a lot. You do your own thing in a match, and you tell the other players what they need to do to follow your strategy for the match. I am guessing you play a burst roamer, not a support class. Is that right?
But I think you probably need to change how you play to actually support team fights more. Leaderboad rank today is ONLY about how effectively your playstyle helps a weak team cap, hold, and win. Seriously
Your MMR fell as soon as you were no longer teamed with high MMR players. My guess is that your type of play, probably roaming and 1v1s, does not contribute enough to weaker teams and so you started losing, and your MMR fell further, and then you got into REALLY new players at low levels and you are stuck.
If you were fortunate when SoloQ came out and won early games, you were given a high MMR. That high MMR put you with top teams that kept your MMR high. With teams like that you can roam and if your playstyle doesn’t contribute much to the win, it does not matter much since the team is so strong and they all know what to do without you.
I am only guessing here. Do you play a lone-wolf roamer burst build? What class and build is your favorite?
I agree with this but problem is that ppl below rank 30 tend to think they know all and dont want to listen advice,most of ppl r10-20still comes to have duels in spvp.
Hell i was in a team where one single shout from oponetnt H/LB wr destroyed all semblance of team while my 4 wr(rank40+ all of them) skitten to chase him on the map,like crazed chickens ,it would be fun if i was not in their team…\yeah he beated them all sometime even 1vs 2-3

Right after the patch i had some really good matches with teams spread equally really close wins/loss.
Just few minutes ago i had a match with rank 1-7 and that was disastrous .

My problem how ever is that for past 7H i rarly had a bunker in a team while match making.
They said they will make it harder to have 2 wr 2 guard composition but,that is not obviously it.
I dont understand why ppl call this condition meta?
Its bunker meta ,more bunker in your team more time works for you,
It is hard to kill wr-guard-engi holding a point if they change it as they say they will after dec10 it will be impossible to kill this composition.
Add there MM necro and spirit ranger on close and far and u dont even have to run out to play if u dont have same team composition,time will beat u simple as that.

SO back to my topic after 7+ hours of playing i had a pleasure of being in just 3 matches where teams where equally drafted.
rest of the time i played with 4 cloth+1 guard against teams 2heavyarmor 2 leather and occasionally 1 clothe if ever.

I dont want to change class,and i consider my self hybrid freak in a sense that i like to play all classes ,i have about 500 games with each class ,but i dont want to change cause i set my self other goals and dont like to be dictated how and with wht to play.
Bunker meta needs to stop they should award one time point bonus for capturing points, not points over time for holding it/
So this new match making system will solve nothing ,and as far as i can see it didnt change nothing ,so GG ANET
I play mesmer GS/S-P currently and only way to beat half good WR is to keep kite them stay a way.
its counter productive in spvp to fight them for me,since even if i win it takes more thne 2 min with this tactic so i just avoid and pick my targets.
But yes if WR takes endure pain on 25%hp and all stances as utillity its hard to squizze in betwean cd to do some dmg.
Why im writing in this forum is that a while back(2 months) while i played WR i had several encounters with one ele who had lesser elemntal glyph and elite lemental s/d and my gues was he had arcane as other 2 utillities.
What this guy did was- sumon air elite(occasional cc)and fire lesser ,let elementals wore my cds down while he keeps distance ,and then just as my stability wares of he would do insane 12-15k dmg on me,i really tought he was hacking ,but then one other friend explaind it to me …
Well dint play ele for a long time its time to remedy this mistake,can some explain how to build satff with ice bow for that huge aoe dmg please?

Even if ,after new patch goes as they say ele still cant profit as much from shorter cd cause skill are on high one and u can switch to an atunement and have all skills on cd if u dont know wht r u doing.

*memers have one shater on 12 sec cd u can trait shaters to give vigor and minor heal.
*pet skills are also on at least 14+ sec cd and not that great and aoe ones are on higher cd
thiefs steal is on 18sec cd traited and still its not a reason thiefs are hard or unkillable its stealth/evade that is a problem.
-if u make burst cd on 15 so no more cond cleansening every 7 sec with huge dmg adn that was main problem with sinergy to heal signet -3 cond every 7 sec+ aoe dmg
Also scull crakc on 15sec cd is bearable and ok.now they want to change skill animation+ increase cast time,which was hard to read only on asuras.
So yes 15sec cd on burst skills will solve almoust all problems ppl have with wr class and still have wr as competative class.
Only other class skill that needs a bit tuning down is necros,since u have 3sec stability every 7 sec….

As now it is 0.1*healing power. It will become either 0.15 or 0.2, depending on how they mean it.
And we’re still talking about a grandmaster trait that applies on a single utility slot. (whereas any other class has traits applying to whole categories at grandmaster levels).
I could say it is even too weak.
Dint play my engi for a month or so but if i remember correctlz with healing kits elixir gun i and healing bombs i could have round 600 heal/sec and its an aoe heal…
Im writing this from my head and memory so i might be exsagerating ,bomb heal was in range of 250-300 or so add to that automated response ,energized armor,protection injection and you are looking at imposible to kill engi.
Even with out this buffs wr-guard and engi on one could hold whole teams for 2-3 min,now with imprioved heal and aaegis every 15sec that is 3 man holding point for 5 min.
If trasnmute cures inc.immobilize or fear that is huge improvement for a minor auto trait.

I do not hate engi class,it did need some improvement but not as much

Power rangers auto att hits for 1,5k on clothies.
That is a problem with this patch to many no skill trait buffs and even more promoting just auto attacks .

I think that problem is that u have small amount of players who are capable thinking out of the box and invest time in theory crafting and making new builds,
and then u have even smaller amount of players who are capable of really using some undiscovered potential build.
Most of new players come to forum and say “can some1 post best pvp build”?
Then they go directly to spvp not hot join get demolished or easy win with even comprehending basics and say this build doesn’t work or is op.

Maybe word “top” players is not correct ,but experienced players should have a better view on pvp then some1 who just played 50-100 games and comes saying something is op or fail.
Besides balancing classes Anet has to balance customers reviews and maintain large experienced player base and still have newcomers.

Only problem i have with this is that you get beter rewards for losing then for wining.
U get more gold from corn candy then from trick bag:(

Play stile is -up yopur phatasmas and keep distance u have compounding celerity for speed buff,w8 for heal interupt then engage with leap-freanzy and wrack.
Most clothies are dead before wrack .
Couldnt beat signet wr with soldiers since they dont use heal so not much to interupt and couldnt beat sb-s/d ranger which use only auto attack.
I have a feeling that in hands of a good player this could be really effective.
p.s its prety selfish build not much in team play

Let me first introduce my self,
I play only spvp solo q after 1000 hot join matches i decided i have some level of knowledge and skill to play team fights and solo q.
Im an average player not highly skilled but i mange to hoover on 50 win /los rate and i play all 8 classes .
Now i have more les 2.5 k matches played and i feel competent suggest what needs to be fixed in solo q for it to be competitive and fun for all kinds of players,beginners average and i think even highly skilled player might be satisfied with these suggestions.
1.Solo q needs rank tiers,
meaning taht you can not ever be qued with team and opponent team members in a rank difference more or less 10 ranks.
this will make new players play with their own lvl experience and higher ranked ppl will have challenge in other team .
I was qed in a few matches with team set up
2×40ish2x50+ rank and 1 rank 30player
against lvl 1. 4. 7. 27 and me 42
.( i was tempted to try loto ticket with this but then its a losing combination)
we lost 9-500
Not a fun match for our team and not for this rank 50 player i guess.

90% of players dont want to change class!
This is rule for solo q only where ppl come to play their favorite class and what you get is team composition of 4 thiefs and memser against -5 wr or 3 guards and necros and so on.
In a game where objective is to hold points team with 2 bunkers will have higher chance to win.
So solution is to have team matched in average stat points,so that opposing teams will have if possible equal power,condition dmg and so on…
If this is to hard to implement ,waiting room with 10-15 players should be created where you can choose team composition and speak with players before you are dragged in to the map.
This would also solve afk leaver problems.
3.If i want to leave match Q i need to be in heart of the mists and speak with npc,
im not always willing to sit and wait 10 min doing nothing in mists and when i get called i want to refuse match entirely but im unable to do so,so some players just stay afk.
4. if i block player for what ever reason ,being rude,afk or simply is bad player with whom i dont want to play or speak i shouldn’t be in same team with this player
(this is just my personal wish to be implemented wouldn’t fix anything crucial)
5 .different objectives and game modes
As ai said before this tipe of play(capturing points requires teams to have 2 bunkers and is promoting bunker builds,simply cause uyou are fighting for time)
And just a little not on class balance
I think that most classes have options to choose different trait lines and be successful in what they do ,worst imho is ele where u have 2 builds only capable of competitive play.
In addition to this i think all dmg should be tuned down 20% and condition dmg even more and bring up combo field effects for the same amount.
Thsi should promote more team play .
GL and HF all hope something get fixed soon.

There was a time that you could log in any time and find ppl to play with now after 03:00 till 9 or even 10:00 you can hardly find players to play with.
Aloso 90% of players refuse to change class ,they simply log in to play thief and thats it, or just play one class for reall,nothing bad about it.
To some you cant in no way explain need to change class,or even some basic thing ike essential need to cap points,some ppl just feel good whacking something.
I play all 8 so i dont have problem with this although i play some better some worse…

Hi all ,im an average player nothing super skilled and maybe thing im going to point out are bit off for some players ,
but after 2000+pvp matches i think i can say with some confidence what things need to change.
First of all matching system for solo pvp is horrible.
Option to change your class is nice,but most players wont ever do that.
What is necessary imho is that system calculate average value for all stats and match teams accordingly with no option to change class .
On some maps changing class gives big advantage,if zou find ppl willing to do so.
Also we need option to DECLINE tournament invitation or even better if you dont accept in 20-30seconds you wont be dragged in to the match.
Considering that amount of ppl who play spvp these days is declining and sometimes you wait for match for 10 min no wonder ppl go afk.
There should be real penalty for leaving,like losing rank or something.
There should be minimum rank of 15-20 to allow players to participate in solo tournaments,there is hot join to practice,and tpvp to play no mater rank with your friends.
Next thing we need better rewards (gold,crafting exp)for playing pvp.
Dont give me already made equipment form chests but let me make my armor and gain exp for it.
After more than a year playing only pvp(lvl 55 pve character)i have 2 gold
and half achievements player which spent same time as me playng pve have…
Doesnt seam fair, or motivated to continue playing.
Any way this is main cause for ppl leaving this game imho, and it need something done about it ASP,or we will wait for next match half an hour to find ourselfs in
3vs5 or even worse set up.
Well i hope Anet will do something since its hard to find ppl to play spvp for last month and is getting worse…

When they fix para sigil wr need bufing not nerfing ,
especially war-horn since its only weapon in game that does 0(zero) dmg i thinkExcept it is extremely useful to groups because of the Vigor and cleanses it can provide.
so it is rager WH and lots of other OH weapons that give buffs and debufs but they still do some dmg at least on one skill…
ranger wh ahs buff – high dmg adn blast finisher and is extremely useful in groups
You should have zero issues with necro.
Maybe tell us how you are setup, build/traits/weps etc to help us better understand.

I feel our pain whole arena thing is bad design,ppl should confirm before ported to match ,we dont have an option to avoid match once rooster is made.
Also we should be able to see rooster ,not the names of pleyers but character to avoid multiple classes in same team.
Yesterday i had 24 matches from which i had 18!! with 2-3 thiefs + ele or mesmer in my team
By some miracle we were pitted, in 7out of 18games we played, against 2 gard 2 necro and engi /ranger team,i may play this game rest of my life but i dont c chance for wining against any1 with this set up.
If they dont give us visable class rooster, system should at least calculate average stats (mainly here i mean power cond dmg and toughnes)and then make teams…
there should be an option
match starts in 1 min: accept-decline
then we would c much less 4vs5 games
and leavers -quiters should be heavylz punished

I really dont understand why ppl QQ about crack-100b combo , signet heal ,and stability?
everything can be countered by other classes,not counting pathetic ele ,
and as far as i know EVERY class has excess 2 sigil of nullification to debuf and sigil on swap for poison for 5sec to render that signet.
