P.P.S. doodlonie, why and how do you like sera? It may be hard for me to figure outbecause she’s the opposite of what I like in a romantic interest…
Because Alistair isn’t an option. Srsly, he’s licked his share of lampposts, and then some.
idk, aside from Iron Bull, none of the others really seemed that interesting to me. But Sera….all weird and broken…just the right amount of crazy…Plus the dialog, especially with Solas around
But it wasn’t to be QQ reroll
I think I really just ended up going with Iron Bull. As if his charm and personality wasn’t enough, the thought of that big boy banging a dwarf is rather entertaining on its own.
I haven’t played DA:I since I found out that Sera wasn’t into dudes. Never has a dwarven rouge been hurt so deeply :’-(
- bugged NPC at Farnaz
- bugged NPC at Bloodstone Shard
…go on…
(I’m not familiar with the NPC bug tricks :P)
Just to be clear, by p2 wall, are you talking about the bone wall north of Belka?
But but but…
Breaker Bar!
HoT hypehypehype!!
And people that do want to play different are too afraid to open their mouths in game for fear of being ostracized and blocked and the blockers telling other to block them causing a snow balling effect where you can never be heard from again and never able to play with anyone as you are eventually blocked on every player’s list/account.
Not saying it happened to me yet, but I’m always expecting the worst.
O.o
Neurotic much?
Got to love General discussion.
Looks like this has flared up again.
Oh Yumiko. I hereby officially nominate her for PHIW Of The Year.
edit I’ve been informed that Yumiko has lady bits. Post updated accordingly.

Trying to picture this, need visual aid.
Therefore, the difficulty of the content (or lack thereof) is not a sufficient explanation for why berserker gear is optimal, and other explanations should be sought if you want to make a legitimate point.
Going out on a limb here, but I’m guessing from the OP’s post that he’s not terribly interested in making a legitimate point.
You’ll be fine.
Also helpful is a mouse like the Logitech G700 with a free-scrolling mouse wheel ;D
No idea, just borrowed the pic from here. Funniest thing was that this surfaced right about the same time as the NPE hit NA/EU, and it was so so so so so perfect xD
At least we got the NPE out of the whole China thing.
Although their version of the NPE was waaaay better.
(edited by dlonie.6547)
Man, it’s barely been a year, and it sounds like China has already caught up with us.
Yep — that’s how it works ’round these parts.
The shere scope of what they’re attempting in EQNext scares me more than the SOE/Daybreak thing. What they’re trying to make is amazing, can they pull it off and make a fun game at the same time? (For those that don’t know, they’re making a world that will be molded by the players, where not only will your decisions lead to cities and towns being created that are specific to your server but even land formations are going to break away and be shaped by the players. NPCs are coded specifically to either be in more populated areas or not, IE orcs will spawn where people have been the least, not in a specific spot for people to camp and kill. Pretty huge undertaking). Knowing some of the people working on it though, if it’s possible, they’ll do it.
I hadn’t really heard that much about it, that sounds pretty cool. Wonder how it will work out for them. I’ve heard a lot of good about their dev team — active, engaged, friendly, and quite capable. Plus all of that prior experience…I’m definitely interested in seeing how that turns out. It’s a tricky thing…I know of another game who’s approach to creating a Living World hasn’t panned out so well :-/
Glad you had fun! That sounds like what a first run should be.
And is Maybe seriously complaining that some people use the LFG for finding exp groups instead of using a static? Experienced players are allowed to use it as much as noobies. That’s why there are LFG descriptions. Don’t like the groups available? Start your own.
So, I’ve been playing Gw2 since the release, mostly PvE. My problem, and I think, it’s a problem, that a lot of PvE players have, is, that the dungeons became really boring. The only reason for me to run them, is the gold. I was thinking about some ways to change that. The first thing would be, to add new dungeons.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Very-disappointing-news-for-you-guys
:-(
What I was thinking about the most was to add something to the dungeons to make them attractive again. Just an item, that can only drop in this dungeon. It shouldn’t be something game changing that gives advantages over players, that don’t have the items. Rather should it be something collectible, something that adds a bit prestige. For example a miniature or a special skin.
Now, I want to know, what do you think about this idea?
How is this different from the token vendor system, other than one is a guaranteed reward for running the content, and the other is RNG?
For Lupi’s sake how is this thread still alive?
I know you guys want to bring VGM back, but he’s not coming back for us… Let it go guys…
Oh, the thread’s done, OP hasn’t posted in days.
We’re just circle/ /jerking and cuddling in the afterglow, whispering filthy things about ArenaNet in each others’ ears until somekitty reports the thread and a mod closes it.
Obviously inaccessible. If you clicked on it nothing happened (at least…).
Aww, well that’s disappointing.
do you have ANY idea how much it took them to fix it?
Hmm…updating coordinates in a json/xml/whatever file…let’s see…
It’d take an El Sobrante Fortnight: between two weeks and a decade.
Remember Arah P1 tar waypoint? That was what…1.5-2 years that it wouldn’t spawn until the Stargazer died, and made everyone hate pugging that path?
You know what guys, it’s clearly pointless whether or not they test. There are so many bugs found in the live environment that get ignored for months or years that it’s entirely possible that the testers can and do find all of these things.
Random groups. And the wisps. I’ve only ever seen one group that can get past the wisps at the start.
The walls move as you run back, traps snare people, half the time somebody aggros the champion. etc. All sorts of reasons. Groups just give up anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour into repeating the wisps…
Keep in mind that most of the people in here have been running these fractals for nearly 3 years. A significant portion of the fractal playerbase has simply memorized each event (e.g. paths for wisps, etc) in every fractal/dungeon.
You may find this helpful, especially for running the wisps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eb47RZU_F28
I hear EQ Next is supposed to have actiony combat. Let’s hope the SOE fiasco didn’t stunt development too much. I never played EQ, but my wife loves it, and I’d like to see what the EQ world is like. I had trouble getting into EQ/EQ2 because GW2’s combat has spoiled me, but it’s tempting since the EQ titles get more regular large content updates than GW2…and they’re 10-15 year old MMOs jealous
Remember when we used to talk about dungeons and stuff?
Those were the good old days :’-) sniff
I hear ya, the entire series is very, very well done.
TBH, one of the reasons I’m enjoying ESO so much is all of the lore. The NPC acting, the books, the stories…while the single player TES titles were indisputably better, they managed to do a really good job of putting immersive storytelling into ESO. From what I’ve seen in GW2 and other games I’ve tried, that’s tough to get right in an MMO. Just leveling in that game is a lot of fun for me. The combat isn’t as good as GW2, but the world, the cultural histories and interactions, the adorable Khajiit…ermagerd.
Uh oh…did I just come out as a closet RPer on the dungeon forum?
>.>
<.<
It definitely isn’t working, I’ll agree to that.
I dunno…this isn’t a “make us a promise” sort of scenario. We ain’t asking for much:
“Yes, we meant to do that, and that’s how it’s going to be from now on.”
or
“Oops! That’s not supposed to happen. We have higher-priority work to finish first, but we will revert it once things get less hectic from HoT.”
You know, just basic “keep your players in the loop about your game” sort of stuff. Is that really so much to ask?
Hmmm, I’ll make a guess.
Magic Find food?
Just saving this thread from falling off the front page….
3 weeks ago, the last we heard anything:
I’m actively checking on this today.
How’d that go?
Now that’s what I call swift justice.
huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuur
Oh. Guess who doesn’t follow politics (in their own country, even...).
It was a pretty good move by Cleary, and I hope it’s a sign of things to come for dungeon griefers (YEAH RIGHT xD). Seriously, though, it looks like they’re now ok with naming/shaming in the case of clear wrongdoing.
Now who wants to see Heitred get this treatment? \(^_^)/
lols, that’s awesome. Must be a slow news day.
In other news: It looks like our forum’s new snowflake has melted \o/
Dragonhunter…
I want to throw up.
Please someone provide emotional comfort.
edit Why does it seem impossible to link to a google image search result page directly? >.<
(edited by dlonie.6547)
How could they NOT NOTICE that a freaking WAYPOINT in ac was OUT OF THE MAP?
lol, what? More info please xD
Funny how silence can send such a loud and clear message.
They test it.
Molten Facility says hi.
Just having a tester party do a single run through modified dungeons/fractals before going live to check for unavoidable progress blockers seems an obvious thing to test, and yet…
I still can’t believe it’s not butter.
@lordkrall
I played it even more than 3 years to be accurate..bcs i played it in the first beta.
i wanted to write this..but i though people know the beta started 3 years ago …so i would look stupid^^
and yes i know i played every new area (everything from it) and i also know there is an expansion on the way….but that game is dead for 1,5 years for vetran player
That is not how it works..
If I played once during the head-start and then didn’t play for 1,5 years, I haven’t been playing for 1,5 years.
You have played the new areas and yet you claim that everything is super-easy and only focus on new players?
I have played the game more or less daily since head-start, and the game is far from dead for me. The last 1,5 years ago have added plenty of stuff for veteran players.
Christ, krall.
Ok. So he’s been playing for even less time than he claimed and is still bored with the game. How is that better?
Nitpicking for the sake of nitpicking…..
The meta is changing at an alarming rate.
Cool! That’s a pretty smart change.
How does Guardian DPS with 20%+ extra damage compare to a staff Ele though? Mace2->WW->Leap->Binding ->SoW vs Eruption->Glyph->Lavafont->Meteor (or even… Hammer1->Hammer1->Hammer1->Hammer1…)
I figure at worst its’ a small dps loss for a HUGE defensive gain, so maybe just a casual run setup, not ideal, but stupid easy and nearly as good.
Maybe Guard dps will be close to Ele though I can’t see Guard > Ele. Also nice that another class will be braindead ( if the meta will be hammer 1).
Nah, if you take the honor line you can have pretty much constant light fields with GS+ mace so I don’t see hammer happening for max dps (at least I hope not).
Wait, did I miss something? Since when are light fields good for DPS?
Is this a new trait or something?
Just to clarify, it’s considered an “exploit” for speedrun classification purposes for the unofficial speedclear records maintained by the community.
You won’t have to worry about being banned or anything like that from it. Dozens of people have admitted to doing it, and even posted videos of it happening with no repercussions. ArenaNet is allergic to their playerbase, so we’ll never hear them say anything regarding it, but it’s an old trick that’s widely used, and no one has been punished for it yet.
It seems to be like one-shotting Lupi, or any number of other oddball techniques that are unexpected but not punished — a “clever use of available mechanics”/“bad design”.
F3 not giving aegis looks so bad too.
That’s only for the elite spec. Quite obv we won’t take this garbage into dungeons.
This. The way the article sets the stage for the specialization’s description, it seems clear that this is more for WvW:
The dragonhunter—a ferocious big-game hunter that specializes in ranged combat and back-line support.

There are a lot of skill lines available (any class can use any weapon, plus there are three class-specific skill lines and several guild related ones),
Would you say that there is more depth to the skill trees than in GW2? (I have never played ESO myself)
Tons, see for yourself: Build Calculator
That’s configured for a Khajiit Knightblade. The Class and Racial skill lines will be different for other classes/races, but the rest are shared between all. Plus each skill gets a “morph” option as it levels up, where it can be modified in one of two ways to further customize the abilities.
Then, once you get to level 50, you start acquiring “Veteran Ranks” that add more specialized abilities using trees similar to the Skyrim constellation system.
(edited by dlonie.6547)
The only thing it did was make me want to play Skyrim again.
That’s never a bad thing
Though IMO, Oblivion > Skyrim, (but that might just be nostalgia
Did they fix the terrible combat?
I enjoy the combat, and certainly wouldn’t call it terrible in its current state. They have done a lot of revamps since launch.
It’s actiony — closer to GW2 than any other MMO I’ve tried, but still different from what we have here. I suppose it depends on what you’re looking at getting out of it. There are a lot of skill lines available (any class can use any weapon, plus there are three class-specific skill lines and several guild related ones), and the combat requires you to dodge, block, and interrupt attacks in real-time, so the active defense component is there.
I’ll say that coming from GW2 (which trained me to use active defenses as a primary survival method), I feel pretty OP in combat in that game, but that could also be because I’m only level 25 doing open world stuff.
If you bought it around launch, you can jump in and start playing it for free now. It’s worth checking out, especially if you’ve already paid for the box.
I’ll say that the only thing I’m really missing from GW2 is the materials bank and salvage kits >.< But it wouldn’t be a TES game if you weren’t running to the bank to empty your inventory constantly :P
I’m a developer by trade (and a chemist by training, go figure), and I wanted to get into the game industry…until I started looking at employee reviews of major studios. Not. Worth. It. So instead I work with scientists making analysis/vis software for their research. I’d love to work on a cutting edge rendering engine, but my employer treats me like a person and values my work. In the end, that’s a way better way to live your life, IMO.
Along the lines of Jerus’s post (and similar posts I’ve made over the years), my heart goes out to the devs for GW2. They are very talented and do really great work, especially on the content delivered around launch. It’s the direction of the company that’s causing the problems.
I wonder what would happen if they sent out a “player satisfaction survey” to everyone who has a license for GW2. It might be a real eye opener for them and their metrics. As it stands, they claim “no one likes dungeons, so we’re not going to focus on them.” How do they know that? I’ve never heard of them asking players what they want — they just look at statistics and metrics, and there’s no way to tell why content is unpopular from that information.
It’s all so…ugh.
Yup! It went B2P a while back. It doesn’t force you to buy crowns (gems) either, the currency just lets you get stuff easier (like mounts, etc).
squish
Wow, I have no flood control anymore! \o/
As an open world content with scaling events, it would be nothing but, as you pointed, another Dry Top, which is now again all about organization and doesn’t provide any challenge gameplay wise.
An instanced Dry Top for, lets say, 8 players; that’s something I would love to see :PI don’t disagree with anything you just said. I think that frankly both could work. 8 players is a bit small for a party though. For an elite area I’d love to see groups of 12 people. This is also manageable for most guild groups.
ESO did that with their Craglorn area:
http://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/game-guide/adventure-zones/craglorn
A giant map of instanced endgame content, with 4-man dungeons and 12-man trials. Timed content, limited resurrections, in-game speedclear leaderboards, etc. I’m leveling pretty slow in that game (the open world is so much fun to explore…), so I haven’t gotten to try it yet, but kitten it looks fun.
Plus Zenimax talks on their forums, keeps public lists of known issues and their current status, puts out big chunks of replayable content regularly, has immersive storylines that keep you in the game…
Not sure how many folks here would like it, but man I’m having a blast.
