Yes, +1 to everything Ra Ra said above. There are so many great resources on the wiki, all of which have been developed by highly skilled community members and fans of the game in their free time. If you have ever contributed to the wiki in any form or fashion, and especially if you have ever created auto-updating tables for daily events/rewards (seriously those are SO helpful), or if you have ever submitted your drop results to any of the hundreds (thousands?) of bag/box listings on the wiki page, THANK YOU!
People often talk about how the Guild Wars 2 community is the friendliest and most helpful out there, but I think sometimes that is only attributed to the players in-game and here on the forums. The wiki is a resource that a vast majority of the playerbase utilizes on a regular basis and it’s maintained by what I assume is a relatively small subset of that GW2 playerbase.
Thanks so much!
From the patch notes on July 28:
“Significantly increased the number of times characters can mine bloodstone nodes each day, but changed the cap to be account-wide.”
Could someone expand on this for me? When Bloodstone Fen was first introduced myself and a guildmate were running bloodstone nodes. At that time, it seemed that these nodes were respawning at the same rate that standard nodes on any map do. When the mithril nodes on Bloodstone Fen would repop, so would the bloodstone nodes. There was no reason for us to switch to alts to farm these nodes because they were already more than plentiful enough.
Since this update, bloodstone nodes do not seem to respawn until reset. As an example, yesterday before work I ran through Bloodstone Fen and did the usual map dailies, ran events, and harvested from all the nodes I could find. Went to work, came home and logged on about 14 hours later and none of the nodes had respawned except mithril and palm nodes.
My question, then, is what exactly did this change to the node behavior do? If the nodes repopulating at the same rate as mithril/elder/etc was an unintended bug, and if it wasn’t intended for players to be able to swap to alts to farm these, then at what rate were they “significantly increased,” and in what way? Are players supposed to get more strikes on each node now? If so, that isn’t happening on my end..still only getting three strikes per node (sometimes four, if you get a bonus WvW strike or have a booster active). Are the nodes supposed to repopulate more often? Are there supposed to be more nodes on the map?
Personally, I’m not seeing any of this, and it seems as though all bloodstone nodes have been set to a standard 24h timer to repopulate only at reset like rich veins or farms. Any insights would be appreciated!
Thank you for posting this question, Missy! I had no idea, had always assumed you’d have to start fresh if you decided to switch to a different GH. Good to know!
Now to convince my guildies to switch to Lost Precipice… B-)
I seem to remember there being a temporary fix for this by way of setting your status to Invisible and then back to Online. This can be done if you open the Contacts and LFG panel (default key is Y), in the top left corner next to your name.
I’m not personally having any trouble communicating in guild chat, but maybe this will be helpful to someone experiencing this issue.
Good luck!
Stahp with these threads already. No, we don’t “need” to know ANet’s plans. Overcommunication has gotten the devs in hot water in the past because, shockingly, the GW2 playerbase can be extremely fickle and demanding. Yes, we may have one of the friendlier communities when compared to other MMO’s, but take a look at nearly any thread on this topic on the forums and you’ll see just how overtly demanding this community can be. We are not entitled to know what they have in store for us. Wait and see.
I honestly think ANet is much better off by keeping us in the dark about big content and LS updates. The entitlement is so strong on these forums and in-game it can be really disgusting sometimes. Then, because of that entitlement, ANet listens to their vocal playerbase and makes a change a big part of the forums is demanding, only to be met with even more hate-filled diatribes like so many posts on these forum pages, because “they should have listened to us —but, you know, not the us that was demanding the change, but the silent us that didn’t want it.”
Yeah, fully agree with tolunart above. Devs can’t win.
If you want to support the development team, give meaningful feedback and feature requests with reasons why those features should be included. Don’t give demands. Check your entitlement at the door…please?
Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll ever see an update to the AP rewards. You have to remember that if they were to change up the reward structure and start offering additional items to players who reach certain goals, they would have to also give out these rewards to every player who has already long since earned that amount of AP. Even if the reward was account bound skins, as soon as this update hit there would be a huge spike in the number of players who would have these skins, and there would likely be a negative effect on the economy (as those players would no longer have to pursue the materials or other currency to acquire them).
Black Lion Keys would almost certainly never happen. Imagine how many players have over 5k or 10k AP. Most big rewards are done at the 5k mark, and some players have over 25k AP (possibly more? I’m not sure what the highest AP holders are at these days), so there would likely be thousands of BL keys immediately added to circulation. All the drops from those free keys would then be either used or sold on TP (if possible) and this would affect the economy in ways that you can probably imagine.
That said, I do agree that the AP rewards are a bit lackluster and would love to see some updates. I do like the big 5k chests and I personally feel that those rewards are decent, but some of the other stuff you get at different tiers can be pretty uninspiring when you realize you’ll get more from completing your dailies.
There is a nice house in Divinity’s Reach that has no NPC’s inside. I think of it as mine. Also, one of the NPC girls in the tavern is my imaginary girlfriend who I am cheating on with that tramp on the 2nd floor. There’s an old man who keeps telling me to get out of his house in another building. I pretend he’s my grandfather and I let him stay in my old place, but he’s too senile to understand. Every day I pretend to water the plants in front of my pretend house. That’s why they always look so green.
This was amazing, thanks. Haven’t laughed that hard in a while.
On topic: /yes to player housing!
It may have been nerfed a while ago, but I still use mine daily. 2 stacks of candy corn equates to around 4 hr exp buff and 2-3 hr MF buff, including an hour or so on average for the other buffs (some more, some less).
It’s totally worth it, in my opinion. Best 300 gems I ever spent.
You need to contact your ISP. They can look into it way better than a stranger on the internet. And really, why would you trust a stranger on the internet to help you resolve what you think is a DDOS attack from other strangers on the internet?
If the issue is affecting all facets of your internet connection (as in, things outside GW2), call your ISP. They can give much greater insight into any connection interruptions you may be having.
If the issue is affecting only your connection to GW2, submit a support ticket. They can look into your connection to GW2 servers and help to diagnose the problem.
I’m all for more options for dailies. I do love the idea of HoT-specific dailies as separate from general PvE dailies. Great idea!
Just don’t remove JP’s from daily rotation again! My guildmates and I are having a blast doing them, and showing others tips and tricks and such. The JP dailies really do revitalize content that often gets overlooked. This is a good thing!
I like the idea. I don’t really think it’s necessary to introduce a new item drop for every boss, though. Many of the bosses already drop boss-specific loot with some regularity (not including the ultra rare treasure hunter stuff). Most of those items could probably be adapted for use with these new ideas of yours. Teq, for example, could just use the Carved Bone Spoons that many of us hoard.
And if there’s any concern of this affecting the TP, just set everything related to the purchase of that weapon/armor skin as account bound and voila.
+1!
I’ll take your unwanted runes and sigils. I could use the extra silver. That silver adds up to gold in fairly short order if you’re vendoring enough of them.
I’m totally content with piles of junk items in my inventory. It all turns to gold, eventually.
A lot of my time spent playing these days is with the in-game music muted and some playlist running through Winamp or Spotify instead. It really depends on what I’m doing, of course. If I’m going through Living World story instances or other HoT-related content, I’m more likely to turn the in-game music back on simply because there’s more diversity with the new music introduced with HoT.
I’ll be honest, while I really do love the music in GW2, as with any other MMO (or really any game you’ve spent hundreds or thousands of hours playing), hearing the same 20 or so tracks playing on repeat can become very tedious. The same could be said for listening to the same album by your favorite artist on repeat for days at a time. At a certain point, you can’t listen to that album anymore because you’ve worn yourself out on it.
That being said, I do love the music in GW2. I especially love that HoT brought us new tracks to listen to, and even new ambient music in some areas too (like the little band that plays at a waypoint in VB, for example, or the band that plays in the new LA occasionally).
I think the music in this game is already pretty diverse. There are a lot of tracks, but one “problem,” so to speak, is something you’ll encounter if you play the same content repeatedly. If you hang out in a specific city all the time, you’re bound to get sick of the track that plays in that city simply because you spend so much time there. I’d love to see more music added to the game that supplements core Tyria maps. I don’t really want to see a ton of ambient sounds added to the game everywhere, as (in my opinion) this would make the world a bit too loud when you factor in player and NPC movement or dialogue/voiceover sounds, combat sounds, mini sounds, etc.
tl;dr: No matter how many music tracks a game has, if you play it long enough you’ll get tired of hearing them on a loop eventually. /yes to more music, /no to more ambient sounds. (in my opinion, of course!)
if you ask me, at least increase player’s choice by 1 more variable daily. we currently have 4 to fill 3 dailies for the reward – yesterday, the other dailies were easy but there was obvious dilemma with activities and jumping puzzle. during the puzzle i heard the activity was bugged!!! in that kind of situation people get annoyed no doubt if jumping puzzle is not their pie.
adding 5th option … what does it hurt?“I love having the option to complete jumping puzzles as part of the daily. I’m sorry they’re not your cup of tea, but nothing is everyone’s. I’ve found that there are plenty of daily options each day, so you would never have to complete a jumping puzzle. Also keep in mind that you don’t have to get the daily achievement every day. This game is most rewarding when played for fun and not bars anyways.”
plenty of daily options. where? one needs to complete 3 out of 4 and the only choice you will be making is between 2 last dailies.
and like yesterday, activities “option” was bugged, so most motivated people had to jump puzzle.
Again, there are 12 daily achievements available to you each and every day. If you aren’t sure where to find them, go to your Achievements panel and click the Daily tab at the top of the list. There are 12, I promise.
As a lower level non-HoT player, I have only a list of 4 to choose from. I am not a platform gamer and don’t do well with the jumping puzzles. Since the Activity NPC was broken for the last daily, that left me no option but the jumping puzzle. When I reach the point where I want to throw my monitor out the window, it’s time to stop. Needless to say, I wasn’t able to get the daily done.
Maybe we could have 5 to choose from, in case we cannot accomplish one and the other is bugged. I haven’t been that frustrated in a long time.
There are 12 dailies to choose from. Your decision to not complete your dailies via the very fast PvP or WvW dailies was simply that: your decision. I understand JP’s can be very frustrating sometimes, and they aren’t for everyone, but you have a lot of options here.
Opinions are absolutely valid. Again, I’m sorry if my words sounded like an attack—that was not my intention. I’ve just been getting a bit frustrated with the recent hate on the jumping puzzle dailies and I guess I’m afraid that ArenaNet will end up removing them from rotation again, and I would be really disappointed by that.
So this is my /vote for JP dailies to remain (or be expanded on! more more!)
Haven’t been in the Alpine borderlands since they made their (triumphant?) return, but I seem to remember upgraded forts having guild bank access. I might be wrong on that, though.
But yes, I do agree—guild bank access is useful in WvW. Lots of us store our siege there, for community use. If it’s not a thing anymore, it should be!
That’s wonderful. I enjoy the jumping puzzle dailies, myself. As do my guildmates. We were all really excited when JP’s made a return to the daily rotation. Thus far I think I’ve done most of the JP dailies as they’ve popped up, because I like doing them.
I’m sorry to be somewhat rude, but I really don’t see the problem here. Do the things in game that you enjoy. Don’t do the things you don’t. Why do you feel it’s necessary to remove something from the game that others enjoy?
So don’t do the jumping puzzle daily. Do a different daily achievement instead. There are lots. Problem solved.
These dailies are not hard to do. If you don’t want to spend the time to run through a JP, or if you aren’t able to complete the JP for that day, do a different daily. There are more than enough easy options that you can complete your daily with little effort.
If you don’t want to or are for some reason unable to complete the PvE dailies, go into WvW and do the easy dailies there. If you absolutely refuse to set foot in WvW, go into PvP and join a daily server where people on both teams cooperate to quickly get the dailies finished (there are tons of these servers, takes but a moment to find one).
And if you just straight up refuse to do any of the dailies for some reason, well, I’m sorry but that’s entirely your decision. You only have to complete 3 to get the daily meta and 10AP, and the loot offered for each individual achieve is minimal. No one is forcing you to do anything, and it truly is not necessary to complete each and every daily on each and every day.
These are not difficult achievements, and I really dislike the idea of making them even easier because a vocal minority of folks just don’t want to do them.
“I don’t want to do this thing! Remove it from the game, for everyone. I don’t care if others enjoy it.” <— this is the general sentiment I’m reading in most of the complaints here.
I think salvage all would be a bad idea. At the very least, if it does become a thing, it should be something you can disable in options or something. I tend to carry a lot of salvageable loot on alts, some of which is used as equipment (and some just because I’m a gorram hoarder) and I’m pretty confident I would accidentally salvage stuff I wanted to keep.
But if it’s a toggle-able option, then by all means, let folks salvage to their heart’s content.
I’d much rather the confirmation be in place for rares. It’s saved me from accidentally salvaging equipment I use more times than I can count.
I LOVE that you aren’t forced to double-click the salvage kit after confirming a rare salvage now, though. That saves a lot of time when you’re salvaging all your world boss rares for ecto and you have a ton to get through. I still like the confirmation box itself, though.
A throwback to crafting in the old LA:
“Excuse me, where are the outhouses here?”
PTR? PTS? What are you guys talking about?
Utterly confused by everything in this thread.
PTR stands for Public Test Realm if I remember correctly. It’s where players go to be live guinea pigs. In this game that wouldn’t work because most people can’t even dodge correctly so asking these individuals to judge the game would end terribly. Turns out the same is true of high end content; asking elite guilds tends to build content that is above the playerbase.
But benchmarking and fixing bugs is supposed to take place on these servers.
Thanks much for the clarification.
Thanks for the reply, Rubi. Glad to hear it. I almost always miss the live streams, but I generally do watch them after-the-fact. I’m sure a lot of other players are in the same boat as me, with weird work schedules and such.
Good stuff though!
PTR? PTS? What are you guys talking about?
Utterly confused by everything in this thread.
Unless you receive an official reply, assume that you will not be able to buy them after the festival ends.
This. Buy up all the clouds you can while the festival is in progress. Much like the other festivals, I’d be willing to bet the guild decorations vendor will stop selling the Super Clouds when the SAB festival concludes on the 19th.
+1 to the auras getting a boost. These things take a really long time to get, and you have to go through a lot of ..ahem.. tribulation to get them. The auras should at the very least be visible.
The game really begins at level 80, in my opinion. There is so much more “endgame” content than there is for pre-80 characters.
WvW, fractals, world bosses, dungeons, raids, personal and living story, crafting, guild halls, jumping puzzles, collection/achievement hunting, map and world completion… the list goes on. Much of this can be done before you reach level 80, but chances are good that you won’t have experienced most of what the game has to offer before then.
With map completion alone, you’ll have reached 80 long before you’ve fully explored even 60% of the maps available.
Thanks for the official comment, Chris! We appreciate it.
+1! New SAB titles would be awesome, for sure.
If you know you’ve lost a fight and someone is keeping you in limbo, stop using your skills and let yourself bleed out. Your problem will be solved in around 10 seconds.
Honestly, I still think the tribulation skins represent an earned achievement. If you buy your way through the paths and get the tokens at a high gold cost, that’s on you, but I think it’s pretty fair to say that most of the folks who have the King Toad or Storm Wizard skins unlocked have struggled and stumbled their way through the trib paths like the rest of us. Those paths are hard, and as I’m a huge fan of SAB, whenever I see someone sporting the telltale yellow or green skins, I’m impressed.
If you look at the price that people are charging for these LFG taxis, you’ll soon understand that it would cost upwards of 600-800 gold to finish just one of the collections. I don’t think the vast majority of players have that kind of gold on hand, and most of those that do probably aren’t too keen on shelling it all out for a few skins they could earn on their own.
Or maybe I’m being overly optimistic. Personally, I do still see the skins as a sign of prestige, though.
Or Anet can rerelease a previous set of weapons and the prices can drop like a rock, so you get to start waiting all over again.
Imo they’re not worth holding for investments. I do the key runs for tickets for personal use now. The skins I got as investments before are still sitting at not much higher, and sometimes lower, than when I got them. (Crimson weapons for example were rereleased even though the trading post prices were already low and supply was high).
It’s a risk, for sure. You can generally tell when a skin is on its way to being re-released. Usually only happens after they’ve been unavailable for two or more BL weapon cycles. If you wait too long, though, you’re out of luck. I’ve got a bank full of skins that I’m hoping will continue to increase in value, but most of the skins I’m holding onto now aren’t worth much more than 150g each, or just a little more than their “typical” value. On most of these, I will probably either end up selling them at a loss or simply break even.
Occasionally there’s a run on a certain skin set, though, and in those situations you can really come out way ahead.
Skin investing is still more profitable than playing the skritt ecto gamble, in my opinion. That thief has taken more gold from me than I care to mention. ;_;
Oh, not an unfair question at all. I think we’d love to hear an official response to this. I’d also like to know whether or not we should be reporting those players taking advantage of this exploit as “LFG System Abuse.” That’s what I’ve been doing as I come across them, but if I’m in the wrong here, could someone from Anet let me (and the rest of us) know?
Not sure that you’ll get an official response about it this festival season. It’s also very unlikely that even if it is unintended, we won’t see a patch (or any bans or other repercussions) this SAB season.
If Anet doesn’t intend players to be able to sell the tribulation paths via LFG, it will most likely be fixed for subsequent years, without official comment from Anet. It’s fairly clear to me that they didn’t intend for players to be able to buy their way through the trib paths, specifically because of the force-kick upon joining a match in progress. It even explicitly states that this should not be possible before you enter any zone in tribulation mode. The normal paths, however, aren’t really much of an issue, and I don’t think anyone really cares if you ferry people to the end of a normal zone. You can join in progress and leave to your heart’s content. Working as intended.
That being said, I do think it’s disappointing that players are taking advantage of what many of us view as an exploit to sell the trib coins. I don’t think players should take Anet’s silence on this as approval or acceptance of the method. Would love to see an official response but I doubt it’ll happen this year.
I disagree. I like that I can go through SAB with a fresh character. For someone who really enjoys Super Adventure Box, this really increases replayability for me, even if it’s content that I’ve already completed on an alternate character.
Also keep in mind that many of us went through and got all of the upgrades and items with the Back To School update 3 years ago. It’s been long enough that we may not all remember exactly how to get all of the upgrades, so playing through on an alt gives you the chance to explore again with fresh eyes, and re-discover areas or paths you’d forgotten about.
Do a key run this week. Open a single chest and bask in the glory of receiving two repair canisters and an armor booster. Sell the remaining 199 chests and preserve your sanity.
Honestly, aside from the extremely rare permanent contracts, the main reason most players used to keyfarm was to get BL weapon tickets and scraps, and even those aren’t really worth what they used to be. Two to three weeks after new skins are introduced, they’ve plummeted to around 50-60g on the trading post. Sure, they will generally gain value over time if you buy some and hold onto them, but it’ll take a period of many months before you see any big spikes in price.
When I was keyfarming, I typically needed anywhere from 15 to 20 keys to get enough scraps for a full ticket (unless I got a lucky series of drops or a rare full ticket). Even if you assume that you can get lucky and get a full ticket from just using 10 keys, you’ll have (at current gold>gem exchange rates) around 190g invested into those ten keys if you purchase them with gold. So if it’s the BL ticket scraps and weapon skins you’re after, you’re much, much better off farming the gold you need and buying the skins outright.
That being said, I’ve bought my fair share of keys and will likely continue to do so, because gambling can be fun sometimes.
There isn’t really a fast or sure-fire way to get keys anymore, at least not that I’m aware of. Penelope covered just about all of the bases. Gone are the days of keyfarming for hours and opening a stack of BL chests. The only way to really open a pile of BL chests is to purchase keys from the gem store, or complete your level 10 personal story each week and save the keys until you have a small stack.
Map completion would probably be the “fastest” way to get them, nowadays, but as has been said, it’s not a guaranteed drop by any means. Good luck.
Temporary is fine with me. But one more week, please! That’s all! One extra week
One more week! One more week!
Permanent would be great, but that will never happen. I’m actually coming to like the fact that it’s evolved into a festival now. This means guaranteed SAB each year, and with that, I’m fairly certain we’ll see new guild hall decorations and potentially new skins and achievements released in subsequent years.
Personally, I’m hoping they decide to be generous to us and simply extend it by another week. One more week of SAB! If they surprised us with that at the last minute, people would be giddy to have a slight extension to finish up their achieves or grind out more baubles for guild hall decorations. Folks would love it!
Similarly, this would give the devs an extra week of content creation/balance/bugfixes/etc that they wouldn’t have had, and likely allowing them to throw another layer of polish on whatever incoming build they have in store for us. Even if the upcoming patch is already finalized, this would provide the dev team a bit of time to “work ahead,” as it were, on larger ongoing projects or get a few errant tasks completed.
It’s a win/win!
Chant with me now, bookahs: “One more week! One more week!”

Agreed with Doggie. Please don’t mute the SAB minis. Their sound effects are the best.
Remember keeping a character logged into pre-searing Ascalon permanently?
Remember dragging a pile of Charr back to the resurrection shrine and letting them level off you for hours?
Remember getting disconnected before you actually killed said Charr, forcing you to repeat the entire process?
Remember finally death leveling successfully, for the first time, and eventually reaching LDoA status with your perma-pre? [Those feels <3]
And wholly unrelated, remember farming Everlasting Mobstoppers and all the plat that came with them?
Oh, and remember spending several hours bouncing from AC to LA to Droks to Spamadan, repeatedly posting your three WTS chats, until finally hearing someone whisper you? [<— this, I do not miss.]
I miss this guy. Maybe he’ll return in the form of a mini? :o

Awesome! Loved that game, it’s a classic… along with all the other adventure games of that era.
I love using names from classic games. I doubt that anyone here would remember it, but my warrior is Julian of Tambry, named after a character from an old Amiga game called Faery Tale Adventure.
I have a few other characters from random series or games that I enjoy. I always get really stoked when I see someone in-game with a name I recognize from my childhood gaming years. Anything pre-Ultima 8 (or really, anything related to Ultima at all) will very likely see me messaging the player to ask if that’s what their name is referencing.
I’m a sucker for gaming nostalgia.
