how do you get defender of ascalon without dying?

both titles were changed. Survivor title was originally unobtainable after the first time you died. it was then changed so you needed X amount of XP without dying, so you can try over and over again.

LDoA originally needed death leveling of enemies ( i assume that’s what you’re referring to?) but they then added daily quests which i think gave 1000xp a day, you could also farm the enemies that spawned, whose levels increased with your level, so death leveling was no longer needed.

I was so disappointed when i found out this wasn’t in pve. It seems it is the only skin this is the case for (correct me if i’m wrong i’m not really a pvp’er)

It’s not even a high rank award, so seems strange that it’s exclusive.

Please, please make this available in pve!

No it’s not just you!
My engineer has, incredibly, evolved third eyelids. perhaps as a result of all the noxious chemicals she sprays about. survival of the fittest perhaps? at least it means me and you will still be running around when all the other engineers go blind :p

this happens, when:
firing a rifle
using elixir gun/flamethrower
in her ready for action animation of holding the gun up and looking around.

in the last situation ^ not only does she get 3rd eyelids, but her entire left eye socket jerks downwards and then back up.

it does NOT happen with the elixir/FT skills where she holds the gun up high: elixir F, flame blast, air blast.

1st screen shot is of her normal eyes.
2nd is the extra eyelids, with socket in the normal place
3rd is with the socket having jumped downwards
4th is…well i don’t think it needs an explanation

Screenshot shows it happening on some Hay Bales in Diessa Plataue, but it also occurs on the ropes of the walkways in the Cliffside Fractal.

I already thought I was only one seeing those ropes in fractals as over bright since all my other guild mates got it working as it should. I could post also here tens of these too but I would first need go take picture of them all…

mentioned it in someone else’s thread, but thought it’d be best to put it here. I’ve seen this a number of times since end of Jan, took this screenshot a couple of minutes ago. moving the camera around makes it flicker to normal texture.

Some people have found that they have to go back to the chantry of secrets POI even though they already discovered it.

I’m a GW1 player and have played GW2 since beta. I have 8 characters, one for each profession and my main is a level 80 mesmer with 100% map. I do not want to change server.

I’m in the UK, I have a normal job which means I play just about every day, in evenings during the week and on and off throughout the day at weekends.

My main has been level 80 for a while now and I would like to start doing more dungeons to help keep my interest in her up. I mostly do PvE, but I like to do WvW a couple times a week, so a guild that is also interested in WvW would be great.

I don’t really want a very large guild as I was in a very large alliance in GW1 and it wasn’t the best experience. I also don’t want a guild that claims to be ‘family friendly’, which translates to ‘spends all their time moderating swearing while ignoring bullying and belittling’.

I also get put off by lists of rules. Common courtesy is enough. I don’t want to spend my time worrying whether a word will get me put on the naughty step, I want a guild that accepts adults swear sometimes and that has the potential to become good friends.

I have a headset, but have only used vent back with GW1 so may need help if you want me to use a different program. Also, I’m a bit shy with speaking on mic, so might be a week or so before you hear me!

I’ve fought the mesmer before, didn’t realise it was part of something bigger. Wasn’t as exciting as a big pile of rats sounds though!

I mentioned this briefly at the end of one of my posts in the sylvari forum, but after looking at it in game again, thought it’s very strange and might be a bug.

i bought sylvari t1 heavy armour and noticed the in game armour doesn’t have the iridescence of the preview/hero panel.

this lead me to notice that setting shader quality to medium displays a much higher quality to the material than high does.

the first screenshot is high quality, 2nd is medium. you can see quite clearly that the medium has a much higher shine and better ‘depth’ to the material, also as she sways, the light moves across the armour and reveals the texture of the material. in high settings there is none of that.

i know high causes more light to fall on the character, but it shouldn’t take away the texture of a material like that

i just got t1 heavy armour and felt a slight twinge of disappointment to see the shinyness that was present in preview wasn’t there in game. i really wanted that iridescence, i loved that it looked like a beetles wing case.

read this thread and went to adjust the shader setting but its already on high, swapping between high and medium doesn’t make any shiny difference, just changes the amount of light falling on it.

and bizarrely, as you can see from the screenshots, lowering it to medium in the logon screen makes it look shinier!

turning on supersample makes no difference either

I have had this a number of times in the last few days.

at first i think its because i’ve gone into chat and expect to see wawwassdda in there, but i’m not.

it stays like that for 5-10 seconds, i still don’t know if there’s something that triggers movement again, as nothing has worked every time.

last time it happened was in WvW and had just destroyed a flame ram in melee range. but it’s happened in PvE a lot too, usually after having just killed something

Ele elementalist Obsidian Armor from Guild Wars. Imo, not a far stretch to donning some heavier looking armor.

Let’s be real, I can create two identical human players. The only difference between the two is that I can cast spells with one. Hmm, even d/d eles play around in melee range, Mesmers melee with sword MH, necros, well you get the picture. Everyone is in range anyway. Theres no frontline, midline, backline here since there’s no true trinity.

Necromancer elite luxon was also a good example (apart from the fishnet tights obviously) and its almost re-skin, asuran.

i have never deleted any hearts mail but most of mine are gone. oldest i have is 3 weeks old.

i got 100% map last week, after contemplating if i should (mesmer). but yes, i’m pretty bummed about that announcement.

I think Taidha has gone on holiday but told her crew to keep up the act.

I’ve managed the event once and I didn’t get the achievement despite getting gold reward and the chest.

On Seafarer’s, now the champion risen pirate never spawns, in fact there are no risen whatsoever and the NPCs are nowhere to be seen

i’ll be using it to complete skill points/achievements etc that are bugged on my server

last night i was in gendarran fields with my level 80 mesmer.

I soloed the champion captain slade killcount.

I got a mighty dagger requirement level 1.

hmm, ok that is annoying, but i guess it makes sense. i’ll just have to do this then…

It’s annoying but if you just jump to the wps at the north or south of LA and zone out, you should be back on your own server and properly waypoint

A number of times now I have opened the world map to travel from LA to cursed shore to see that the majority of waypoints are contested.

So i travel to a non-contested waypoint in cursed shore, but if i check the world map again, half of the waypoints are uncontested mere seconds since i last looked.

it seems to be that the waypoints status is not updating correctly if you are in a different map to the waypoint you want to travel to.

I see from this thread, this is quite an old issue.

This happened to me for the first time today. Finished my personal story, went in to the caer aval instance to look at the pact weapons , ran back to the door but no exit message pops up, only way out is waypoint or logout…

this puzzle just isn’t working.

i know what to do, which is proven by the fact i lit the first two torches, but the 2nd set of torches won’t light, i’ve tried left then right, right then left, tried taking all the stones off and putting them to the side then redoing the whole thing, i’ve tried putting them on all of the spots and taking them off, i tried flipping the pattern.

i even tried a different pattern to the one on my screen that i found on youtube… but nothing

i reported a large group of rangers, 11 Jan, around 8pm GMT

they do not need to move from the spot they stand on. there are risen plaguebearers that constantly spawn around every 6 seconds and run towards that spot.

Yes I’ve seen this. the one in ours would disappear just before the snowflake platforms appear. he would then appear in the chest room and back in the starting area about 15 seconds before the end of the cycle, which meant no one else was fast enough to see him in that chest room to think, ‘hang on that dude disappeared.’ I hung around in the chest room to time it – each cycles roughly 2min 5 seconds (yes I’m sad, but hacks make me angry)

I reported through a support ticket instead of ingame, as there’s no proper exploit report option

I have big sympathy for those who bought the 3 missing toys. I bought a 4th toy – so have 2 crafted, 2 bought – last night using gold to gems when I saw gems dropping in price, so I’m pretty lucky I stopped there.
I just regret trying (and failing)to get an endless tonic now, as after converting to gems and buying the stuffing for the failed tonics I don’t really have the money to buy the stuffing/glue I used up. Oh well. I guess I’ll be doing the JP to raise the funds :/

So I had read plenty about this bug, but had never had it myself. Then since the wintersday patch on 14th, I have had it 3 times, once at Tequatl and twice at Jormag.

Has anyone else started getting it only since the patch? or people who’ve had it previously, have you noticed it being more frequent?

My throat feels like I’ve been gargling with glass, my muscles feel like I’ve been punched repeatedly, I’ve been sat at home feeling miserable for the past 2 days…

yeah, this has left a sour taste in my mouth. i was planning on getting the festive outfits and earmuffs, but the minis are such blatent money squeezing that it’s made me rethink even buying those. It’s really upsetting as i love this game and this kind of thing is so disheartening

I’m surprised, I find jumping with an asura so much easier than any other race. I think its because you have the illusion of having much more space to land and you feel like you’re running faster/jumping further

I haven’t jumped much on my charr, but from what I have done it’s not great as you can’t really tell where your feet are.

Apart from that I find it hardest on norn, obvious reason being that about 80% of the time the camera is either in a wall or in you. But also because they feel much slower and like you just… might… not …make it. Pity as my treasured main is a norn

my humans and norns have their hair and half their skullls removed, as you can see… ouch!

annoying thing is you can’t report it with a screen in game because it won’t let you submit a bug report from the character select screen

it WAS bugged for me and for a lot of other people. It said i had 81/82, despite having 83 hints completed…yes i counted them all…

but it was fixed in one of the recent patches and i now have 83/83, though i couldn’t tell if it actually awarded me the points

maybe it’s possible it was fixed for those who had already completed, but it still bugs for those having just finished?

i am also unable to do anything towards the ‘fight the life stealing minions’ quest. no spirits go anywhere. there are no loggers to protect.

i just waited around for ages for this to start, killed the risen captain twice. was there for the whole event, got gold reward and the chest, but guess what? no achievement.

huge disappointment. i expect it’s because i personally didnt do enough ‘damage’. that’ll teach me to help rez downed people.
