Warriors and engies are the hardest
kills
(edited by emkelly.2371)
I think many of the problems are that, yes, blinks, and shadowsteps, and teleports, should neot be telegraphed, but a warrior just does not have any of those things. So what ends up happening is that we feel too telegraphed. Stances should not be telegraphed, and for the most part only Defiant stance is, (which is stupid IMO) but for the most part a warrior gets by with their telegraphed skills just fine. its just some very over telegraphed skills that give the warrior a bad image in this area.
Stun them between their “dagger button 3” spammage
you also need good internet connection :P
Death blossom Thieves should be running “Hard To catch” which automatically breaks a stun every 30 seconds. Then they should have 2 stun breaks, at least one of them is it’s self an evade. So saying stunning them between death blossums sounds good on paper…its harder then you realize. Actually the best way i have found to shut them down is from playing the build myself. Aside from steel they don’t really have an effective way to close the gap, so if they evade away from you and you have ranged you can whittle them down. Obviously on point in PVP this is not the best course, and so far i usually find my team wins when i stand on far and just draw multiple people there to kill me. I inevitably die, but i can pull two players away from the other two points giving my team the edge.

I know this has nothing to do with the thread….well sort of it does….but can i pleaz has a tengu? you already have the skeletons, anet…and animations would pretty much be the same as char animations….and iz wantz a birdie!!!
^this.
Also, skull Grinder Is over powered.
Also, also, You’re the one complaining about build diversity. Warriors are the most diverse class in the game right now. And just because you can’t make anything work for you besides one or two builds doesn’t mean the rest of us have not have great success and fun with many builds.
Also, also, also, I don’t really feel the need to argue this point any more.
Have you not been watching the forums? We have posted MANY Effective builds in the last week alone. But sure I’ll spell it out for you.
In bothe Berserker and Vanilla Warrior there are at least three builds wich which are Effective. Power, Condi, Hybrid. So that’s 6 right there. Then with each of those types there are at least two different builds setups that work effectively. That’s 12. Dont believe me?
Vanailla power options
Killshot
Greatsword, Axe/sheild
Vanilla Condi Options
CC, Condi with mace/sheild, hammer and stances
Or CC Condi with Physicals
Vanilla hybrid options
First, just take the condi options and change the amulet. or!
GS, Mace/sheild
GS Axe/sheild, with physicals
Pretty much as long as you have Defense and Discipline you can pretty much make anything work effectively.
Specifically Mace PRIMAL f1. Skull Grinder is super Overpowered.
Thank you
:)
Dude. there are at least 10 very effective builds out there for warrior. you are not pigeon-holed into any set build. YOU may have only had success with one build, but other warriors have found success with many. Hybrid, Power, Condi. the only thing a warrior cannot do is strait up Full Bunker. (and even that might be debatable. I’ve never had success with it.
But regardless i guess me explaining this too you is pointless if you are leaving. So i guess all i can say is.
“Good riddance.”
I actually run a similar build to this, but I run runes of Adventure, Sigil of energy, and Sigil of stamina. I mean if i’m going to take advantage of endurance, and 3 spam, then i may as well do it right.
Sigil of stamina is mainly for use when in a camp to ensure i never run out of endurance.
D/D evasion condi… really don’t understand why people insist on posting these cheese builds in action and pretending to be awesome players.
HAHAHA! AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

This is such a pointless thread. Normally i’m totally on top of the forums and i’d almost posted the first response to this thread but i thought better of it. Seriously, there’s nothing for warriors to be afraid of in the future that can be much worse then the years long nerf train that they already were subjected to. And look the warriors are still here!
No, i’m not afraid, nor do i care is people think we should be nerfed. and neither should any dedicated warrior. Hell in the past year the warrior community has come togetehr like no other community on this forum. We’re a team, even if we do disagree on things from time to time.
So stop bringing up threads like this and just enjoy what you have. And for those of you who are not warriors and just want to complain, go cry to someone else, Warriors have put up with being bottom tier long enough. now its our turn.
A warrior’s healing is mostly passive, yes. (Although i could point out you have to be ACTIVE to proc Adrenal health) but your fooling yourself if you think that the warrior is passive by nature.
Minion Masters are passive. Warriors are probably the most active class in the game with elementalist a close second. (I have explained this before)
Goes AH need a change? maybe, but not a major one, as a warrior is required to be up close and personal with the enemy and wasting time to heal when you are up in your opponent’s grill is stupid.
It still is promising…or i should say, it is promising again, because lets be honest, pre HoT warrior was in a bad space that then got worse until they fixed it.
It happens most often with rangers because of the sheer amount of immobilize that a ranger can dish out, and because of this rangers are capable of exploiting it. yes, ancient seeds procs it, but so does Pin down because they both have immobilize. But warrior’s immobilize is one 3 second proc. where as Ancient seeds is Five 1 second procs.
also it looks like the stuck bug fix is already in the testing stages according to the bug tracker. so i’ll end the discussion here
There are several “stuck” bugs which are in the verifying stage listed on the Known Issues Tracker.
Thanks Jon.
Also I tried recreating the bug by /bowing and then dodging like you said. 10 out of ten attempts, the bug did not proc. but it did cancel the dodge animation.
The warrior forum is a very good example of how suggestions are not a wasted effort. For almost a year warriors became so distraught with the state of the warrior that players—Incluging myself— started creating entire threads based on the concept of rebalanced suggestions and while the devs to my knowledge never once comented on them, they did in fact hear the cries from the warrior community and made a much needed change to the warrior. it was a small change, and it may have been overboard as many players will say AH is overpowered, but it was an elegant solution to a problem that can be easily balanced (and i suspect it will be eventually) at a later date. It may take months for the devs to actually get around to fixing an aspect of the game, but they do in fact take into account suggestions. they may not run with the exact suggestion, but they will attempt to make changes in the spirit of what those suggestions involve.
Another example is the Ancient Seeds bug. players made suggestions on how to nerf the trait which prompted Anet to really look att he trait. what they discovered is that the trait was working incorrectly and they changed it to proc one time per player.
(edited by emkelly.2371)
Thanks i’ll try and get a video of it.
It’s also exploitable by rangers. I have found at least three rangers who have explained to me that they exploit it all the time with knock backs and immobilize from ancient seeds on purpose. I even fund a ranger who actively killed me when i tried record the bug in a PVP match when every other player stopped fighting and told me to record it. When i asked the ranger why he did that, he said he didn’t want me to get the ranger nerfed.
record it.
12 characters.
By now we are all very aware of the Stuck Bug in which a player cannot move or in many cases where skills just do not activate or have extremely delayed activation. What I’m looking to do is to hunt down this bug and eradicate it.
Mission plan
- Gather heroes who know how to recreate the bug. I KNOW you are out there, and I Know that the easiest way to recreate the bug is with a Ranger to work with. In every case where i have been permanently stuck it has been when fighting a ranger. This is not because the bug is exclusive to the ranger but because rangers have more of what is needed to recreate the bug. (Stuns and immobilize)
- Take them into 1v1 and have us all record the bug in action. This will include recreating the bug as well as explaining to Anet how the bug was exploited.
- Report the bug to Anet with video proof of it.
- Demanding a fix the the bug ASAP.
If you are interested in joining the quest please add me and send me a message. I’m never in away status or hidden status so if you see me online don’t hesitate to whisper me.
The stuck bug is very bad. So far i have not heard arena net acnoledge it, but it has been happening since the First major Balance patch for HoT. It startyed out with a bug in Ancient Seeds that caused Ancient seeds to proc multiple times on the same opponent. they fixed that bug and now ancient seeds works as intended but now there is a bug that sometimes all of your movement keeys just completly stop or your skills don’t activate when you press the, I cannot tell you how many times i have activated Endure pain and the skill blinks as if i pressed it, but then it ddoes not activate, or how many times i have pressed Earthshaker only to have my warry stand around like an idiot for what seems like forever before deciding that i actually pressed the darned skill. It’s extremely Annoying, and you are not alone. The only thing i can tell you is to start recording yourself playing the game, and to try and catch the bug in action. then report it to Anet with video evidence. So far i have not be able to recreate the bug as it seems to happen randomly, but there is a video of Vaans getting killed by a Druid who exploits the bug.
https://youtu.be/WLZppw3QMAk?t=311
Just go there and watch it. You’ll notice Vaans has the upper hand until the ranger hits him with stacking ancient seeds neer the end of the fight. Vans tries every move skill he can to break the immobilize but nothing happens and he dies to bleed and arrows. Unfortunatly if you submitted this video to Anet as proof they would just say that he died because of ancient seeds and that it is working as intended. What you need a video showing the stop bug, and you not imobilized.
I had a perfect opertunity in a PVP match to record it but was not recording. Everyone in the match actually stopped playing so i could record it and report it. they were awesome. But the ranger on the other team decided to kill me as i was trying to pull up my recording software. That made everyone very angry.
Hey Kraizer, I’m glad you are enjoying yourself with warrior. Please allow me to educate you in the ways of hybrid warrior. In truth, there is only really one problem with your warrior.. That is, that you are running the wrong Amulet. In my warrior 101 thread i mentioned that warriors can get away with less Toughness and Vitality than other classes because they already have high baselines in that area.
- Hybrid warriors need precision to be effective. without precision you will ot be going substantial direct damage.
- Warriors can perform well in 1v1s, but they are far inferior to thieves in 1v1. don’t worry about loosing those fights too much.
- my suggestion is to trade your amulet for Sinister Amulet. many warriors will tel you your sigil is not effective, and there are definitely better options for them, but i get the feeling that you play around with different sigils.
SIDE NOTE
- I was informed recently, that Condition duration is not as important in PVP as Condition damage, because players clear conditions often. This makes a sort of sense i had not thought of before. After all what good is 100% condi duration if most of the time the condi will be cleared before the duration is up anyway. In PVE or WVW Condi Duration is important, but in PVP you want more damage per tick and not more stacks per condi.

Mace Primal Burst is Indeed super op. It literally does everything that both Body blow, and Distracting strikes does from the strength line. On top of that it is a far superior version of Skullcrack, and if that were not enough, its on a shorter cooldown. But honestly, all of the elite specs have elements like that in them. In fact thief is arguably worse, because while both acrobatics, and trickery have traits that improve endurence performance and evades, the daredevil strait one ups them both by just giving a third evade that also doubles as a skill.
I guess my point is that it’s not necessarily the skill that is the problem it’s the entire idea and execution elite specializations in general that have created this huge power gap between vanilla and elite specializations.
I don’t like it, i don’t support it, and i just try to live with it because i know that until GW3 comes out nothing will change if ever.
Also chill can still effect movement skills. they have not fixed that yet.
I think that speaks higher to your skill than to the spec.
Honestly i don’t like the idea of Elite Specs. to me elite specs should have replaced the Core Specialization. so for example Discipline should have been replaced by Berserker, Arcane should have been replaced with Tempast, Etc. As it stands all of the Elite specialization completely overpower the core class.
Didn’t you already ask this question? We’ll lets put it this way…in pvp you either run STR, or Berserker, regardless of build. (lets be honest there’s no reason in pvp to run anything other then those two unless you are theory crafting or just messing around) So, the question becomes, what is better Berserker or Strength? And in truth, everything you can do with Strength you can do with Berserker. Need might? Berserker has it, Need Bleeding and confusion? Mace primal has it…which is stupid. Need fury, Berserker, Need Quickness? Berserker, Need stability? Berserker. Oh stab is not a strength thing? Oh well. Need extra damage? Berserker has ferocity and a damage increase in berserk mode, and most berserker primals are more powerful. So yeah, berserker hits harder if for no other reason than it literally doubles your options.

Honestly, the only two that are really any good are the Thief Stealth, and Warrior Spin. Everything else is pretty useless. For the most part the thief steals should mimic useful abilities of other professions. The best way to do this is to have the Thief steal a class specific signet. Hear me out. First, the thief would gain the passive benefit of the signet, then, they could pop the signet for it’s useful effect.
Thief
Assassin’s Signet or signet of agility
Warrior
Signet of might or Signet of Stamina
Ranger
Signet of Stone
Necromancer
Signet of the Locusts or Plague Signet
Mesmer
Signet of Domination
Elementalist
Signet of Earth
Guardian
Signet of Judgement
Revenant
Enchanted Daggers
Revenants don’t have signets, but that’s okay because Enchanted daggers is great for thieves. Phase Traversal is even better but it would make the thief vs revenant fight very not fair.
Edited the first post for grammar and a couple mistakes (like, i totally suggested menders amulet for condi, when i actually meant shaman’s. fixed it.
there’s another option which is also extremely fun.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vJAQRAsf8HWqCs3R7qN2q0Did5AkFXDIAA-ThhAQB2UJ4fOJAwY/BA8EAgo6PgU5X8gAArqsqCA-e
Basically the same build as before, except replacing bow with sword offhand Axe. What you do is burst through your berserker, then when not in berserk hit torch5>swap>axe5. you’ll build tons of adrenaline and of course you’ll also be throwing burning bolts, and also you’ll be procing burning from your fire field. By the end of axe 5 you should be ready to go berserk again.
Finally if you want to be even crazier, you can just drop the torch entirely and replace it for axe, use bow and sword/axe. When you drop your scorched earth, axe5 through it.
Check out my warrior 101 thread. it will not give you an exact build, but will teach you how to make one that suits you. My favorite PVE Warrior build is this:
This is probably not the best one, but it’s cheep to start by using Sinister stats.. later on you can swap your armor for vipers to make it even better, Th biggest problem with this one is that it is squishy, that’s why we use the Shout heal. evey time you heal yourself you’ll get a full bar of adrenaline, then you can enter berserk and wreck face with Scorched Earth and flaming Flurry.
You can swap arms for defense if you have trouble staying alive, and you’ll still get plenty of adrenaline from being hit. have fun
1: If stances had more interaction they would be very op. The only one that needs some rework is Frenzy
2: Shouts would be great if they could figure out how to balance their healing. as it stands i think the only thing they eed is to have them scale with healing power more. then they would not be worth it unless you actually made the sacrifice and traited into healing power. you’d give up burst for the healing. but then you’d have that annoying berserker condi, so you’d end up with a crap ton of immortal Sage amulet shout builds.
please fix it. Like, pretty please?
Spoken like a true elitist.
I think the easiest way to fix a thief sustain would be to increase their HP from lowest tier to middle tier. I’n sure someone out there would complain, but it would give them just enough HP to survive one big hit, then heal up.
WHAT CONDI BOMB?
Gonna have to disagree with you Warlord, Vipers or even Sinister’s is by no means low damage. sure, you may not get a 10k Arc Divider out of it, but if you are critting for 6k, and ticking for 1.5k bleed, confusion, and 2.5k burns, it more than makes up for it. you can do that easily with berserker, mace/shield, longbow or even mace/sheild, sword/torch. And if you are running Core warrior, and you concentrate on CC’s you can easily tick for 2.5k bleeds and confusion, while shutting down the competition. Bunker Ele’s may give you a problem in that you may not be able to kill them, but they give everyone a problem unless they suck, and even then they can’t contest very well, while you just sit there and cap and hold the point.
One of my favorite Hybrids, because the lolz

In PVP. It’s effective. When you kill a foe you get you endurance back, but you don’t have to stomp them. if they die after you hit them you still get the endurance. I have fought 4v1, and never run out of endurance before. Dragon hunters tend to shut it down, because for some reason even if you make a trap miss by dodging through it, the daze still hits you. have not figured that out yet. there’s that stupid ranger bug that makes you not be able to move at all (even after clearing immobilize) but other than that the build works great.
Also, just because yuu killed one GS guy does not mean all GS guys are crap. that one play could be crap as a thief, but maybe he’s really good at warrior, or revenant. Also like has been mentioned many times yu don’t have to be a great player to know what a good build is. being good is about reaction times and timing, knowing a good build is all intellectual. Hell, i’m no where near the best warrior out there, but most people on the warrior forum trust me to know what i’m talking about.

Hybrid match up
Hybrid works well, and like most warrior builds the effectiveness is entirely based on skill. the builds don’t really play much different from other warrior builds. Body blow, distracting strikes plays different and you have to learn how best to use your CC’s, and it gets shut down by builds that run high stability, but you can always swap in a GS to deal with classes that run high stability.
When did Scorched Earth get nerfed?
Head butt also has a way too fast animation than it should, tho to a lesser degree than Arc Divider.
And both Earth Shaker, and Stomp have overlong animations…but you players never seem to complain about them. look Arc devider’s problkem is not it’s animation, it’s it’s omni directional nature. Honestly it should just hit in a cone in front of the warrior. this would balance it nicely

All banners now have the same skills regardless of the banner. Where as before banners were intractable they are now summoned to your hand. When dropped they cannot be interacted with but will continue to provide their boons for the remainder of their duration. Summoning another banner drops your current banner. The idea is that when wielded banners are no longer useless but are viable weapons.

Plan to jump a hero point train later today.Build for jungle and story.
When finish i come back and ask for help about WvW and PvP, hope at that time to find some one on Us server to help out.
Kindly.
A few very key points about your build.
- you are running Peak Performance, but not running any Physical skills. I’d Definatly trade out peak performance for something else.
- Signet master is a horrible trait. Mainly because Signets already have decent cooldowns, and the precision buff does not help. The only time you should use it, is when running rifle. (because signet of might is great with rifle.) but even that is debatable, and it absolutely does not help in PVE, because monsters don’t block. Trade it for Berserker’s fury, you’ll get the extra crit chance (through fury) but will also get adrenaline for more burst skills
- Trade out Burst Precision for Axe Master, for more adrenaline, Ferocity, and cooldowns. Burst Precision is great for builds that have no Precision at all, but not good for someone who runs high precision…its just a waste at that point
- I’d suggest getting rid of the offhand Mace. Its single target pretty much, and doesn’t really assist with the rest of your build that much. In PVE offhand axe is more efficient, and Shield would be even better because you can block when you need too.
- you are not running Defense line, so i would highly recomend a different heal. Burst damage can be pretty crazy in PVE without Defense line, so i’d suggest either getting used to Defiant stance, or Mending, or Even To the Limit. Don’t get me wrong, healing signet is the best heal for most modes of play, but without defense line you’ll need the burst heals.
- Finally, I noticed your build is missing a utility skill. If this is intentional then i’d suggest the following three skills. Endire pain, Berserker Stance, Balanced Stance., or Frenzy Your Elite Skill is fine, just don’t be afraid to pop it often, If you are rolling Restorative stre, you can use Signet of rage, Frenzy, and your heal, to build great might stacks to do more damage.
- Lots of warriors would complain about your Trait line choices, but this is PVE. Anything works in PVE. I’m just suggesting some ways to make your trait lines work more efficiently for you.
- When to switch to Berserker*
As soon as you get it. then replace ARMS with Berserker, for PVP. You’ll bet all the benefits of ARMS from Brserker trait line, and more.
(edited by emkelly.2371)
Well your in the right place. I’m sure loads of people will post builds here for you. I’ll just point you to the warrior 101 thread, though. If your new to warrior it will help you more than a build.
It works great. Not the best thing to run, but it’s viable
