if quickness does nto work on a skill, then THAT is what you need to adress Anet about. also, it is very possible that there is an unintended delay on the new changes to the skill. if that is the case maybe they will fix it. (i only say this because people are telling me it seems MUCH, longer than 0.75sec)
t4 fractals? you you have trouble with t4 fractals? You can run those without defense or discipline easily. If you have trouble with those fractals i suggest going back to t3 fractals until you work better as a team.
meanwhile, i still get 100%-0% by air overload as a warrior.
Lol Anet listened to me and got rid of the super broken sigil of stamina…no more unlimited dodges while fighting hordes of enemies for my DD condi thief. but my ability to burst condies just went up so it’s fine.
Most of the “whining” about headbutt come from players who got headbutted and watched themselves get perma stunned after wasting all of their stun breaks on all of the OTHER CC a warrior was throwing out constantly. you don’t even have to build your warrior specifically for CC’s in order to have tons of CC, and headbutts stun is absolutely insane. Listen, I say this as a warrior main, as someone who LOVES warrior. Berserker has always been overpowered even when warrior was woefully underpowered, berserker was obviously entirely overtuned. (the problem was with the core warrior). and this is not a problem with just warrior. ALL of the Elite specializations are Overtuned and generally poorly designed. They stack on top of core mechanics of a class instead of replacing them which is how they should have worked from the beginning. I’m not just ragging on warrior here. all classes have this problem right now, which to me just sucks the fun out of the game and makes many core trait lines useless.
You may not like the new warrior changes, but II think you players who feel like you are slower now are just too used to being WAY too fast. give it a few weeks of play and you’ll find the changes are fine.
There is no such thing as full glass warrior (only half joking)
PVE mobs are pretty stupid, and in a raid you have the support of yuor team to help out. the new change to warrior are pretty good IMO, but it’s an all around nerf, so what i said about reading Warrior 101…it now needs a rework. sorry to waste your time with that.
since when had Headbutt had any real tell aside from “knowing” a warrior is going to do it? no, sorry but headbutt was op, and as a side note Berserker (and Elite Specializations as a whole" are OP as hell)
I have never been a fan of the way elite Specs work with the core mechanics of a class (which is part of the reason I have cut back on GW2 and started playing Overwatch. At least these changes lessen the impact of Berserker by cutting down on the insane power creep. The other Elites also too a hit while the Core mechanics of the classes got some decent buffs.
warrior needed the nerf. Powerful synergy is so good now though. i’m so happy about these changes.
Powerful Synergy: This trait has been updated to double the effects of all combo finishers.
We have been asking for this for so long. I love the changes as a whole, but this makes me so happy.
Also, Headbutt, Skull grinder, Sheild bash, were OP as hell. I’m blad they got nerfed. especially Skull Grinder.
Read Warrior 101 (it’s stickied). Personally I don’t see anythign wrong with the build you mentioned. Personally i run a Pure Condi build (Sword/torch, sword Axe, Sinister stats) and don’t even run healing signet and just sort of walk through the game spinning in my fire field.
Axe off hand is great on overland build. Sword, torch, sword axe has so much burn potential both or and single target that I play it exclusively in love.
Choppy, is one of the longest running posters in these forums. When he tells you something about warrior, you’d be well advised to listen. Also, you tell another person to kill them selves and I’ll be happy to lead the devs right to your door.
“4 burst heals”?
wot?
build isn’t bad but hey vitality? just go zerker all the way – dura runes will carry. RR is fun with the HoT stunbreak-on-demand warrior. tipp from myself: sigil of cleansing & brawler’s recovery = pooRR man’s cleansing ire.
Every time they break a stun they get a burst of healing (not a big one but it is a burst)
Extra points!! Guardian!
From stealth: Bound (for the buff don’t hit with it)>Impairing Daggers>Steal+BS>Fist Flurry>Impact Strike
This combo does tons of smaller Damage ticks which will erase the Guardian. if he for some reason is still alive Heart Seeker should finish him. By the end of the combo you should pretty much have everything you need to reset.
(note: it does not erase warriors because of defy pain. saddly)
The End Game Endure Pain (5s) (Defy pain 50-55s cooldown depending on if the warrior blocked or not)
Okay, The warrior has used Endure Pain. The fight is now 5 seconds from won. You have saved your biggest burst through his Defy pain, now you just sit back and prepare your last push. at the end of endure pain
- Impairing daggers>Bound(if you have it)+steal+Backstab+Impact strike 1>2>3
Overtime
So your combo did not kill him, ether he’s running a burst heal, has an extra block, or you just messed it up. No problem you still have time to second to kill him (10-15 seconds depending on when he used block) your build has you covered.
- headshot> Unload: gets a pulmonary impact past a sheild and interrupts a block
- Headshot>Shadowshot
- Shadowshot>heart seeker
- Black Powder> Bound(if you have it) or heart seeker>backstab
- Heartseeker
Final thoughts
- If I could change this build I would drop P/P and go D/D. With this build:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vZAQRAoa4Yn0MB9OhFmCemCkmiFYCbuDWCXheph4QbQLBEAyAA-TJRBABA8AAua/ByKDY8JAAA
The reason is that while Death blossom does not do a crap ton of damage, it does allow you to keep pressure during the baiting game, removes conditions, provides evasion frames, and allows you to maintain your endurance. It’s a lot easier than using clunky combos listed above. (also I have a soft spot for DD)
- The rotations may change depending on your build, I like impacting disruption but I realize it messes up backstab. It’s not mandatory for this build and you may want to run Escapist’s Absolution. (I like it better)
(Finished. Wow that was too long)
The Baiting Game Defy Pain (5s)
Don’t think even for a second that a warrior will just proc endure pain right after defy pain ends. some will, and there is no defined moment to do it, so you have to take the initiative. (ah the puns) you want to MAKE him use Endure pain by maintaining pressure. you can do this in a number of ways with your build. if you did not opt to go stealth after your follow up you can use your P/P at this point. here is what you can do in the mean time.
- Attack from range with P/P Auto attack
- Bait bandit’s defense by getting in close.
- Prep Venoms from stealth
- Annoy the crap out of him with evasion spam with bound or Lotus (if you have one of them)
There are tons of preparation options. Right at the end of defy pain you’ll want to use a small burst. I suggest one of the following.
- Headshot>;Unload: If the warrior does not proc Endure pain before headshot he’ll take a pulmonary impact, if he STILL does not use endure pain he’s probably blocking so don’t use This one in that case (reflected unload hurts). If he is NOT blocking, headshot him again.
- Headshot>Shadowshot>Bound (towards him, because he’ll be moving): This one is initiative heady, but it takes advantage of Pulmonary Impact.
- Shadow Shot> Impact Strike 1>2>3: This one takes advantage of pulmonary impact 2 times. it hurts and has the potential to kill outright on a -50% warrior. if the warrior does not use Endure Pain here he’s either stupid or blocking.
- Shadow Shot: Just Shadow Shot. he cannot block it meaning he has to negate it in another way. Sure it gets you close to him, but you can evade constantly to dive in and dive out.
(even more below)
Okay based on what you said, this is what i would run if i was new o the build. so i’m basing my info on this build. my utility skills are likely not what you are running but i think most stuff will be close. normally when I run thief i’m running a condi evasion cheese build which eats warriors for breakfast lunch and dinner, but surprisingly a large amount of what i know from that comes into play here.
Set Up
Before deciding to fight a warrior one on one the most important thing to remember is to choose the fight. Do not ever engage a warrior on equal terms. If he sees you and starts heading your way, get out of there and wait until you have the drop on him. only then can the fight begin.
If he gets the drop on you, run away and reset
Opening Move
- Begin in stealth. You don’t have to stack tons of stealth, but be very good at getting into and out of stealth. (remember to look directly down when stacking stealth it will allow you to stack more stealth because you’ll leap a shorter distance, but it will also allow you to utilize your stealth duration more effectively (less time spent stacking means more stealth you are actually using
- From stealth: Impairing Daggers>Bound(if you have it)+Steal>BS (bound Messes it up).
With good RNG you should take him down to 49% HP with this opening move. Impairing daggers deals small 1000hp chunks of damage. Your Impairing daggers should land just AFTER your backstab. There is a chance, a very small chance, that you will take the warrior to only 50-51%% hp with the initial attack. This is actually very good, because it means you will get up to two big hits in before their Defy pain procs. This is because Defy Pain procs at 49% hp so if you hit them for 5k at 50% health they are only NOW below the 50% HP mark, your next hit will do damage and proc Defy Pain. (unless they stealth patched this) if this happens you will take the warrior down to about 20% hp in the Blink of an eye. If not your damage will stop at 49%

I’m sorry please proof read your post. I cannot understand anything you said….
In the hopes of answering what I think you are saying this is the rotation I think he was using…
- Combat starts, I’m oing to assume you don’t have the drop on him.
- gs 4, gs5, or shield 5, close the gap
- Gs 3, or shield 4,
- headbutt
- rage
- primal burst
- swap
- primal burst+ endure pain+ berserker stance,
- primal burst
- kite and evade while auto attack
- headbutt, rage
- primal burst hammer
- swap, primal burst arc divider or decapitate
- you die because he probably deals bonus damage with hammer, afainst stunned goes, while in rage, fury, might, vulnerability, bonus damage against vulnerable does, bonus damage from sigil of course or bonus critical damage.
That build is completely terrible and will get demolished by any ACTUALLY good players. Rousing Resilience is a joke, once a decent player sees that you have that trait they’ll just stop using CC and kill you with condi overload. The build doesn’t have enough offensive power to make up for the terrible condi clearing. Boon Duration is useless on warrior, warrior barely uses boons other than zerker stance. Sigil of Impact is a joke, you aren’t supposed to spam Skull Crack, that only works against really bad players.
If you’re having trouble with thieves take bloody roar instead of eternal champion and proc berserker while they’re in the middle of an animation and 1 shot them. Also axe is viable instead of mace. I hit 10k arc dividers regularly vs tanks. I can’t play without signet of might because it completely destroys mesmers and guards but if you want to take something else it’s your choice.
He has 26.466 seconds of Resistance up time. In case you missed it, as I suspect you did, that is longer than the cooldown for healing signet. So actually he has. 29.0524 (near half the cooldown for berserker’s stance.) resistance up-time! do you have any idea how insane that is?
He also has, Massive Healing over time, Massive boon up time, massive damage, and not one but 4 burst heals one of which can proc another and another that is on a 10 second cool down. massive access to boons, plenty of CC, Plenty of mobility, oh, and he’s a warrior so…health. You are wrong.
In answer to OP:
Short answer, yes it is viable
Long answer, to make this build work you have to have skill, and you have to know your build and your profession backwards and forward. you also need to know have knowledge about your opponent’s weaknesses. this is not a beginner build.
Withdraw is super good on dagger dagger.
heh, i’m not disputing your opinion. I just like mine beacause it’s even more trolly. Any Damage done to any enemy, if that enemy dies from anything after you tag them, you get ALL your Endurance back, you turn endurance into initiative, initiative into endurance and the build gets better the more enemies you are fighting. It’s good in a team fight, 1v1 on point, holding points up to 3v1 easily, and pretty much ignores all CC and most Condis. It easilly steals beasts, and solo’s Champs. It makes even veteran players scream at you. MM Necro’s, Mesmers, Rangers,Will all hate you forever.
If you want to be even trollier you can equip 4 daggers and take advantage of your weapon swaps
(edited by emkelly.2371)
I honestly like this cheese better. I cannot believe it still exists.
Even as a new player I can see the amount of projectile hate in this game, making signet of might pretty much necessary for a lot of fights, if you are playing ranged. The windows of opportunity you can have to actually hit things can be very small, there are so many blocks, evades, and reflects on short cooldowns. With enemies chain stealthing things are made even worse.
Kiting/Stealth classes using ranged attacks seem like the biggest counter to the Warrior’s strengths, it negates so much of what the Warrior relys on. It denies Adrenal Health, and Cleansing Ire due to loss of constant hits/adrenaline supply. They can also just sit back and wait out the cooldowns on our abilities, like Ignore Pain, Healing Signet, and even Berserk Mode.
PS, you forgot Bow.
you are correct. Fixed it. (or will after posting this.)
wow this actually looks like a thread you would see in the warriors forums. lol. good advice for the OP guys.
This post is silly. Sure warrior weapons have limited uses, but all of them, (except maybe offhand sword and mace) have a place.
Warhorn
Commanders in WVW. Also its actually a pretty solid roaming weapon
Sheild
A solid all around weapon. It’s not needed atr all in PVE, but can still be usefull there as well. I have no idea where you heard that sheild sucked in anything but PVP. Thats just wrong
Sword
Amazing in PVE. Also good in PVP if you know what you are doing. it’s byu no means meta, but it’s great from condi’s. off hand needs a major change though.
Mace
Great weapon. And Skull Grinder is OP as hell. Off hand it’s pretty bad. I’ll give you that.
Axe
Main hand is still amazing in almost all game modes. It’s not really that great for raids though. Off hand is awesome in PVE. Especially on Condi builds. with torch on swap. I would not recomend it for PVP or WVW.
Hammer
Oh, my poor hammer, How I miss you. Still it’s a really good weapon to keep on swap in a hybrid build in WVW if you are running without HoT.
Greatsword
Has and still is the most versatile weapon in the warrior’s kitten nal. It’s a great weapon
Torch
It’s a great weapon. my only complaint is that it does not fit warrior at all.
Rifle
If you have a problem with rifle, I’m sorry. It’s a good weapon in all game modes, but it’s overshadowed by better options. This does not mean the weapon is crap, it means there are better options out there. Playing the rifle for awhile i’m genueinly suprised at how versatile it is. i get an evade, a knock back, a massive damage burst, constant good damage, and adrenaline gain? Yes please! It’s just too bad that people think you have to have signet of might to make it work. You don’t. And if you say you do, you need to practice.
Longbow
Scorched Earth. That’s all I need to say. The weapon is Awesome in PVP, WvW, and PVE. It’s not meta anymore, but it’s still a great weapon.
(edited by emkelly.2371)
You must have your settings set differently than me. My combat camera works great. I find it much more intuitive than standard mode. I’m aware it’s a preference thing, and not for everyone.
Honestly I don’t know what any of you are saying. Aside from the one big on the weapon rifle is an awesome weapon set. If you don’t understand how it’s skills work together in frilly sorry. I would suggest that you guys try thereupon on combat camera as it pretty much negates the skill interrupt bug. That’s the next update of warrior 101 I have decided.
“Destroying” all projectiles is not a block, which is why it does not reflect when your are traited with shield master. But unblockable projectiles cannot be blocked, reflected, or destroyed. I think that’s what Cerby needed to know. Sorry if I misunderstood something, but hopefully this stops the angst that is going around.
of all the things to complain about DH you chose the one thing on their kit which is actually well designed? HAHA!
OH! when immobed if using DD you can still evade in place by spamming 3. same with shortbow. you still get the evade frames. also if you are running condi clear on evades its very useful to tap 3 to evade and clear the immob. unless they stealth nerfed it it should still work.:)
Power is still the best choice for PvP. But Condi is popular because there are not enough options. So thieves are railing against the meta
Somewhere one my computer i have a spoof comic that depicts a thief killing each class individually panel by panel. the last two panels are a DH looking at the reader with an evil grin while activating one trap, and then dancing with a troll face. It’s fairly acurate. I should go find it and post it. though i feel it’s likely out of date.
If you run an evasion build, signet of sta!INA refills endurance on a kill. You do not have to land the finishing blow. Super useful in outnumbered fights. There is no cool down on this BTW.
Also, anyone can press two buttons at once. I do it all th time
Dude…give it up. I don’t know what your main is but if you played thief for even a week you’d know that a thief’s ability to kill one target quickly is their only saving grace right now. Get the hell out of their forum with this nerf BS
oh that’s easy. It’s just a meme
My favorite is the DH one. “I’m so good at pressing F3 and my traps!!! best DH NA!”
you gotta read it with double /sarcasm.
Midori, you know that in the warrior forums it’s tradition that Sh** talking must be backed up with a duel right? If you think hey are bad Condi’s then you gotta back it up or shut up
Lol. I think the point is that it’s okay for both of them. Also the same image was posted on the rev forums…we all did the math and for the to do that much they needed lots of help from a necro.
You do us proud
I don’t disagree with that, but lets be honest. Rampage is not attractive enough to compete with headbut, or even Signet of rage often enough. It’s cooldown and short duration make it fairly useless. You also forget that the duration of the engy’s rampage is longer than the warriors. i don’t know about tornado, but it would not surprise me if it was also longer that the elementalist’s. Also, the might and condition clear are just way too much to on top of what the engy can already do.
(Deleted, because it was not worth arguing over)
(edited by emkelly.2371)
also, they already did. they just buffed the hell out of core guard at the same time.
Actually he is correct, you cannot stow the pet permanently. if you end up in combat it pops back out, and there is no hot hey to stow the pet. It would be nice if Rangers had one.
Another thing, It would be nice to not have to depend on your pet.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/Petless-Ranger-Please-Yes-this-again
This has been debated ad nauseam at this point.
TLDR Anet is not inclined to oblige to people who picked the pet class and now want to get rid of the pet. The solution is to reroll if it bothers you that much. And no, I’m not trying to sound mean when I say this.
where did you get that i was bothered by it? all i pointed out was that the OP was correct that rangers have no way to permanently stow the pet and that it would be nice to have a hot key for it or to not be dependent on it. I’m not debating anything.
Actually he is correct, you cannot stow the pet permanently. if you end up in combat it pops back out, and there is no hot hey to stow the pet. It would be nice if Rangers had one.

Oh sure, So i should not have been so vague about that. so in PVP, a warrior has to contest the point, they cannot run away. so they have to stand and fight. But the catch 22 is that they can last for a long time against you unless you do everything correctly.
Gingerbread man is a dagger dagger condi build which focuses on constant condi pressure through bleeding and torment. It does not have much condi burst so warriors can last for a long time against it, but it will whittle them down at a steady rate. So when I said it’s best to avoid them I should have specified that they just take to long to kill.
When playing this build against a warrior it’s actually helpful to use Auto attack for the extra condies and to time your dodges carefully.
Best Combat “rotation”
- Cnd+steal>Backstab>Auto Attack>Lotus> Lotus> Lotus
- They will pop resistance
- Bandit’s defense (Kick if they don’t have stability) (by tile bandits ends you will have endurance back)
- It gets a little fluid from here
- if you get them on the Ground CnD>backstab
- you’re goal is to get them to waste their resistance and to build up bleed stacks while they have it. The minute their resistace drops they will be taking lots of ticks from bleeding and torment.
Oh yes, they have higher values….Both of these are berserker by the way. I copy pasted them directly from the wiki i guess 3(18 total) power is a huge difference. did not realize it was 3 points higher.
Draconic Helm (Exotic)

Zojja’s Visor (Ascended)
Defense: 121

+45 Precision.png Precision

wow, was that the first impact the final one?
Either way is hard to believe he did that to you without you having loads of vulnerability and him having loads of might.
I’m no rev, but my guess is that:
- the Necro put loads of vulnerability on you
- the revenant had loads of might
- The final strike hit you.
Power Thieves
If you get the drop on a warrior
- Burst them to 49%
- avoid them for 4 seconds, (defy pain)
- if they pop endure pain avoid for another 4 seconds
- Burst them
- if they pop endure pain in the middle of this burst, avoid for 4 seconds
- Burst them to dead
If they get the drop on you
- Avoid and reset completly
- Then get the drop on them
A fare fight, assuming you don’t have the drop on them and they don’t have the drop on you
- force them to use both endure pain and defy pain
- Burst them to dead
Condi thieves
- don’t use your best condi burst right off the bat.
- Force them to use both Resistance procs
- Once they loose resistance use your best condi burst
- The best time to do a condi burst is right after they swap weapons.
Condi preasure builds like gingerbread man
- If you are in a fight with a warrior they can last for a very ong time against you, but you will eventually win. But they can run away and reset so its bets just to avoid them in wvw. In PVP you can kill them easilly.
Ghost is very fun to play, but everyone who says it has weaknesses are correct.
