the elixir gun, scepter mesmer, torch mesmer, axe Necro, double pistol thief, warriors axe off-hand, Bears, Blue Moa, Warthogs, actually just nerf all pigs 2s invincibility is broken.
It has been months how much longer must these weapon sets and mechanics dominate the game before enough is enough?

I was going to mention conjure Earth Shield but latest developments revealed you can run away from it when it starts its 3s root. Still trying to figure out how to escape that Conjure Ice bow though, Deep freeze always hits like a instant-cast heat seeking ice missile from hell.

Honestly, this type of comment is indicative of no knowledge on PvP.

Go look at some MoBAs. Solo queuing in a ranked environment works fine. It just doesn’t work here because of a variety of reasons I can’t be bothered listing at the moment.

How the hell does it make sense for gw2?
I’ve played wot 1 Moba so I won’t comment but it makes very little sense here given how the game is operating. About as much sense as Random Arenas in gw1 having a leaderboard. Well maybe slightly more then that.
Especially if they follow up on that goal of removing profession swap.

2- The game needs an internal CD display of some sort for on proc traits and sigil/rune effects, desperately, it would increase the skill cap in a good way by allowing you to actually see what and when it’s coming off it so you can time your own actions appropriately, as opposed to guessing and hoping for the best which is about as good of an approach to competitive gaming as it is to medication.

Yup made a thread on this before and I think Evan agreed that it should happen.
Honestly hurts gameplay when you can’t see your ICD’s.

I feel your frustrations so I’ve also distanced myself from in-game play more as of late but eh, uninstalling seems pointless unless you are low on HD space. Just let the Icon on the screen get some dust and come back when you’re ready.

FA automatically puts a role of attacker/defender on the players.
One sides purpose is to assault 3 main npcs to win the game, the other is to collect resource for them. This differs from capturing locations, rather clearly.

I think solo que’ing entirely on a glass cannon thief is truly an inspirational move. For a class that relies heavily on your team to facilitate alot of what you do… I really find it enjoyable watching and waiting on pug allies to do…. anything really.

Routinely, as I play matches… i can’t help but hear that benny hill theme playing in the background.

As we have stated many times we have tried many modes and there is a reason we ended up where we did. This is not to say we will not introduce new modes at some point, however a few notes on death match.

1) You can obviously have it without a healer.
2) Even games people consider to be DM have tons of secondary objectives (Quake 3, counter strike, Starcraft, etc.)
3) Objective based games tend to be both more total noob friendly AND more esport observer friendly as players/watchers can go/look at where the action will likely be.

Deathmatch without other objectives lacks things like a reason to engage, a way to break stalemates, and a tie breaker. It also creates much wider blowouts when someone on your team doesn’t know what they are doing (does this ever happen to you that you get a clueless teammate? Heh)

Hopefully that clears up some of our reasoning for future discussions.

As much as id love to see dervish make it back into the game i doubt its coming back. They were afterall worshippers and avatars of human gods which makes them not make sense for the other races and i dont see how charr sylvari and asura could take the form of anything since they dont really have anything they could avatar as.

That means nothing.
Warriors were champions of Balthazar.
Mesmers molded after Lyssa.
You can warp these things.

Because I already finished the story mode so PvE is done for me in terms of what I want from it :o.
So I do that when content which is relevant to me pops in.But after the story finished neither WvW or PvE is as interesting as PvP.

I see all these comlpaints about the ele. they are warranted sure…but what about the freaking ranger? i’m seeing rangers carry orb from pedastal to raven in less than four seconds … taking almost no dmg and shedding any attacks and roots..one because of evades..and too because roots like inf strike don’t work on half the freaking map. they deposit orb..and bam are back at pedastal before it even respawns.

Preach brother mursie this flippen map and its teleport breaking terrain.

The more skills are split the more people are pressured to stick with 1 game mode. I don’t want to have to re-learn my class to try a new game mode, or keep track of 3 different variations of each skill.

no offence but this sort of mentality just stinks of laziness. I mean, i hate having to learn a new dungeon or a new pvp map…lets not have any more of those either, learning takes too long and is too hard on my brain.

Thats what it sounds like. Its already this way, runes are different in spvp, rules are different in wvw, food items dont exist in spvp nor do racial abilities etc etc. No matter what you do in a game you have to take a few minutes to readjust and learn something new. So to suggest having to take those couple minutes to read the differences seems abnoxiously lazy in a game that already forces you to learn with every bit of content.

It’s not really the same and I understand what he’s talking about.
However so long as they are functionally the same, he won’t have to really relearn the skill. Unless the number changes are really huge.

Everyone can not do everything, and build wars exists in full.
Melee can also exist but like GW1 if you want to stay in melee you pretty much need someone to support you so you don’t get rolled.
Guardian/Ele helps in that respect.

Classes that abuses the actual gameplay mechanic, as in dropping targets, are all broken by design.

Coming from GW1 and see the royal kittened up class balance in this game brings tears to my eyes. Yes, the pvp here can be fun at times, but the fact remains – if players are of the same skill, there is no class balance.

I will never accept the argument that this is a team game – balance the freakin classes for 1vs1 – simple as that.

Classes weren’t 1v1 balanced in the slightest in gw1.

I wouldnt even complain about target drop considering how much this game absolutely loves to play itself once you do have a target save a few skills. Which is part of why phantasms are actually annoying.

There isn’t much you “have” to dodge. Zerker is obvious and I leap if they’re running it. If duelist dies from cleave/aoe the pressure drops.

I 4-5 of my abilities have cleave, and the shortbow obv has aoe so I exploit it. Not that they are easy kills.

If you’re running Pistol/Pistol and get that glue shot, you can start to mess with them. But again berserker aint the biggy it’s duelist. Annoying as all hell.

I always blind people I finish. Everything will miss aside from the ones where they get up and run away.

I’ve never heard of this “bug” despite having over 1K hours on my thief.

If you have a friend on another server you can play against in WvW I would suggest testing it. I would if I could. Just let him shoot at you while visible. Then go invisible and let him shoot again without any of you having moved. Then you see if you have damage.

You can also test the finishing off. Just go invisible and try to finish him while he uses Thunderclap.

The problem with this bug it that is is so hard to check because you need a controlled environment for it. We can’t duel and most people don’t have friends on other servers they can test this with.

I would consider that being a bug. And stealth is then a way to well increase severity of that bug.

While I would hope the players on this board didn’t blow up needlessly on this post. I did however address everything you stated. You can very well Shadowstep out of Thunderclaps range while stomping and come back with Shadowreturn to finish the stomp. Since this skill is being used while stealthed a Ranger won’t actually have seen that you performed it, so it will look like you just ignored his Thunderclap.
In addition you can time it with Signet of Shadows which if performed perfectly is pretty much undetectable as well to realize what happened as you will not get a “Miss” proc on where the thief is, naturally due to them being in stealth. As well if you have auto-targetting on, when a thief stealth do to losing target the Ranger might pick up a new target instead to use Thunderclap on as the skill only cast at your body when you have no target.

Im afraid in terms of the aiming system. It is not a bug, it’s just poorly designed in that respect as I indicated before.

Or to tl;dr, there is nothing going on with the Thief that is causing any exploitable invulnerability what you are detailing. The targetting system in GW2 is poor as is the aiming system. Which can help to aid in believing this but it’s far from the truth. I’ve had warriors miss PB with their hammer because they forgot to target in the first place and so it just went over my head regardless of not being stealthed.

They won’t be balancing them instead ways to deal with them better will be put into the game so basically you will be forced to run a class/build just to deal with op ele specs. Got to love Build Bores 2 the game that said you could play how you like and be competitive and totally lied.

We knew from day 1 it was going to be Build Wars. Only thing is the implication that by limiting skill selection to 5-10 they could at the very least make sure every weapon set on 1-5 was viable and balance better.

Its not invulnerability your projectile is missing not because of blind but aim. When you are downed you can’t aim so even if you knew where a thief was you are unlikely to hit because the projectile doesn’t connect. Its not buggy the aiming system is non existent in downed and sucks in general for projectiles without a target. In addition Shadow stepping while stealths is completely possible and can be used to escape the pbaoe range of thunderclap to get the stomp. When warriors throw their hammer projectile it commonly will fly over the thiefs hitbox since the aiming/tar getting system in the game is poor. Stealth itself provides zero invulnerability.

Ive commonly stealthed then Shadow stepped away to prevent being interrupted by Thunderclap. I know some will use Signet of shadows for the same purpose.

It’s baffling that solo and premade aren’t split up. Hotjoin should have always been integrated into a Solo q (basically, hotjoin shouldn’t exist, there should only be solo q and team q) which, with the release of leaderboards, is a now an even stronger option because it gives people with “casual” intentions something they need to care about.

This agreeably would also call of a matchmaking system refinement. The criteria for premade would have to include any size 1 < size <= 5. But it is (of course my opinion, but also) the most ideal final product I can foresee.

Hot join should’ve only been 5v5 from the start.
They didn’t help out anyone, by making it 8v8.

Am I the only person who thought GW1’s separation of PvP/PvE balance was a bad move? It caused rampant over-buffing of PvE skills, some of which spilled over into PvP. Besides that, I do not seem to recall any great balancing achievements in PvP or PvE caused by the skill split, I do feel that the quality of the game declined though (especially the challenge of PvE and diversity of PvP builds).

And I believe the gap between “PvP players” and “PvE players” was widened…

Its not the beat move but assuming time constraints and what not its faster than rebalancing PvE mobs and more effective than trying to hit 3 game modes..

Hey all, thanks for the feedback! Instead of removing Spirit Watch from the rotation, I’d like to point you towards some changes that Tyler has made that should address some of the issues you have brought up. This thread is located in the suggestions section: Spirit Watch – How to improve Orb. [sPvP].

While the idea of swapping the orb carriers skills is an interesting one, like you said, we feel it’s best that the individual player be able to use their skills. Changing an entire skill bar can be jarring for the player, especially in PvP, so we try to avoid it when we can.

Beyond that, we welcome any suggestions for additional changes!

It’s not OP on a 1v1 basis, per se.

It’s OP when you consider that the entire endgame of tPvP is point control, and HGH engineers brutalize AoE in a team fight… that ultimately means no rez, no point control, and unless you focus the Engie first (which no one is accustomed to doing yet) they are going to literally rain a bad day upon you.

Welcome to the problem with conquest as the only game type. You have to unbalance the professions to balance the game mode. Such a waste of a great game engine IMO.

I swear you just hit a tangent.
Adding Death match wouldn’t suddenly make grenades not able to hit a point in conquest.
