This is the Build I have been testing lately
I use cats as my pet btw
This build works extremely well 1v1 altho fights are long and drawn out as you dont have much damage
You mainly rely on your pet with this
Great for holding points in TPvP also ok for spvp
Thought I would share this build as alot of rangers either go full berserker or trapper
also you dont see many builds on here..
place traps at your feet dodge when set off
when you seen the big stealth circle on the floor aoe it or randomly attack every part
use longbow rapid fire just before they stealth and follow your arrows
entangle them but doesn’t last long/ pretty much useless unless to stop them so your group can zerg
play one.. learn how the stealth mechanics work and you will have a better understanding
oh and watch your back thats where they are going for
Well that could be used as crude way to tell for now thx..
but I think this lil suggestion of changing the colour of the health bar when dead is a far more polished and would be miles better, than the way it is now.
can be misleading at the moment
Seriously? Your pet limps around and makes pathetic whining noises when it’s downed, how can you NOT know when he’s downed by just looking at it?
Chaos of the battlefield. My pet will die without me even noticing because I’m too busy trying to stay alive or to keep person X from using skill Y.
couldn’t of said it better..
All Im trying to address is the fact the UI for the pet could be made immensely better by just having a diff colour for the downed pet..
it’s simple to implement, and as i stated before
if my pet has x amount of my damage tied to him i want to easily see when he’s dead
Well the health bar is grey and the F2 skill is blacked out, do you want it to be flashing red with a little asura dancing on it holding a sign that says “Your pet is dead!!” ? i mean, how much more do you want?
health bar is not grey.. thats was my whole point.. its just a slight shade of darker red
all I asked was could they make it grey for clarity..
I mainly pve.
My second weapon is axe/horn.
longbow works well for pve because of the 10 stacks of vulnerability “20 if traited” that will benefit your group as said by another player above..
and the knock back skill is very handy to have for crowd control
and barrage to Aoe adds down
Barrage is so freaking amazing in WvW when you’re full zerker. it’s one of the most underrated ranger skill by far.
also if you pop sharping stone after it applies bleeds too.. not sure if it works in WvW tho like if there is a max affected player cap, altho probably you guys probably already know most tricks
depends on you play style i would say.. long bow is great at range if you can keep the range up it’s amazing with the point blank shot that sends ppl off cliffs XD
shortbow is good for the -33% heal and keeping conditions up but you tend to be closer to your enemy
are going to use it for spvp, tpvp or pve?
Well that could be used as crude way to tell for now thx..

As it stands there is no way to tell visually at a glance if the pet is either alive with some health or just been downed and has just regenerated some health but not rezzed yet.
This can be very irritating when you glance at the pet health before using a skill that relies on pets like “stick em” you think the pet is alive when in reality he has already died and only has some health but not rezzed yet.
The way i propose to instantly fix this is to just change the colour of the pet health in the pets skill bar, to say grey or another fitting colour to represent it being dead, changing back to red when the pet revives.
This would help pet management so much..
and seeing that pets do a large portion of our damage i would like to see visually if its dead or not..
please share your thoughts on this

@zone
You overrated Rangers way too much man. Take a breather. And maybe stop using an Axe + Shield with your Great Sword if you think your posts are justified.
If anything downed rangers are too punishable with AoEs. Kill their pets and they don’t have a 3.
Their downed number 3 can be used if the pet is dead, in fact the pet “revives” with the use of the downed skill number 3.
That is untrue i can say 100% if the pet is dead and you use skill No. 3 the pet runs to you but does nothing.. the amount of times i kick myself when i do this but underwater may be a different story
This thread is a troll.
Really? Okay.
Ask yourself this. What beats a Ranger in downed state? Say a Guardian and a Ranger both get downed at the same time. Who will win?
the warrior without a doubt because i was in this exact situation we both got downed.. soon as his vengeance was up thats it im dead 100% of the time because when i try to interrupt his stomp he has stability and he downed me..
at the time i thought just the stability part of the skill was op but meh i will just work harder to kill him next time..
ranger is one of the most underpowered class in the game atm and your complaining its not even easier to kill them?
Has the item trasmuted by any chance?
this may help

Superior Rune of the Ogre
(1): +25 Power
(2): +3% Critical Damage
(3): +50 Power
(4): 5% chance to summon a rock dog when hit. (Cooldown: 60s)
(5): +90 Power
(6): +4% damage
is a good choice can be very helpful when downed as the rock dog + your pet and you can sometimes down a enemy where if you didn’t have the rock dog you wouldn’t
I also like the +4% damage
I solo him all the time.. it’s his opening move so do this
attack.. side step with Q or E then kill as normal..

instead of feeling like a sniper.. with a bow i feel like i have semi automatic
with QZ and rapid fire
cant really speak much for WvW but in spvp and tpvp i do pretty well with a longbow
if you’re felling abit squishy maybe also use the Knight’s Amulet for the extra Vit with the build suggested by typingofthedead as you will be in melee range.. or another good option is the Rabid Amulet with toughness and and condi

Sniper referrers to guns we cant use them..
what were you disappointed by?
damage? well our pet has alot of our damage.. maybe try a class with a rifle?
The point blank shot skill on the longbow seems to “Miss” far too often when at really close range… so much so that lately its almost 50/50 hit and miss.. well not that bad but you see my point
I think the problem is more noticeable to me as I will charge my foe till I am right infront of them then use PBS to get maximum pushing distance
can others that use point blank shot comment on how often you are missing
or could a dev explain if these misses are intended

When the score pops up at the end of the match you get to see if you got top stats for the game like top skirmisher, defender, ect
Currently only they player is aware they got the top stat, and as far as i can see there is no way to review the other top stats awarded to the the other players..
I was hoping for a simple UI addon to the existing system just to add icons next to score to indicate the different top stats they were awarded
this would make people push harder for the top stats if they were public at the end of the match
this wouldn’t take much to implement and would add a sense of pride to spvp
let me know what you think
I would like to see the slight delay removed when using quickening zephyr to stomp someone that is downed.
currently when using quickening zephyr to finish off a player the moment you stab your stake into the ground there is a slight delay before the player actually dies and awards points.
This is just a slight annoyance, not game breaking but enough to make me stop for a second to wait and see if i got the kill.
The timing is just not fluid as it stands at the moment.
