if anything I admired this mechanic.. and noticed it when the lockers were first placed in the mists…

if you double left click it takes all of the salvage kits and if you drag and drop then you can pull them out one by one..

why the hell are you guys encouraging rage quiting… I’d rather not see my teams mates thinking about ways to jump ship at the first sight of danger…

it’s the 4v5 thats the problem.. match making needs to confirm that all the players are there and awake before they are added to the roster..

so a pop up to confirm that each player is not afk..

as it stands 4v5 before the game starts is unacceptable for any kind of rated pvp

p.s. if you sign up for tpvp, you really should be committed to play till the end.. if you want to rage quit in the middle of a TPvP match there is alway hotjoin for that..

even if the enemy team does manage to get the tranquility buff, your team does have 8 and and a half minutes to recapture those points..

also the other buff at the top near the pits that fall into the water give you x2 points for each node you have.. so if you make sure you get this buff at the same time tranquility spawns you only have to retake one node to be on equal point gain.. as they have 2 nodes and you have one node churning out x2 points

one map for 4 day this late in the game is shameful when a simple npc for each kitten map would do… Yeah I know you want to test your new map and everything but at least let us choose our maps in between the testing..

the devs forget it’s not fun being locked into one map for 4 days at a time.. I mean it feels a little primitive for a game of this caliber

btw sort out the map rotation.. this late in with the updates.. new maps but only one map a week is a bit of a joke.. I mean come on

Yes, the class is on the weaker side of things. No, we’re not as useless as many will claim. You can be a boon to you team playing a ranger. Just realize that many will contribute more than we do due to issues inherent with the class. Issues that will hopefully be addressed by ANet before too long.

There are many styles of build you could strive for, but I’d personally avoid any range-only builds. Go for ranged/melee or pure melee. Also don’t forget about your pet and consider putting points in Beastmastery to not only boost your pets survivability (and open up more options for pet choice due to the increased survivability) but also its damage output.

do it for the healing power if anything..

from my experience.. go full healing.. if you can keep alive.. almost to the point excess then thats better than dying and the ranger does this well as we have a pet to chop away without defensively scaled stats..

you’re completely right,
the main point i want to raise is the longbow needs more viability at close range.. because lets face it.. you do not have long to stay at max range in any part of the game,

punishing the ranger at different ranges for damage so extremely feels completely unfair as other weapons without that built in nerf have a far easier time as they dont have to do less damage just because the enemy walked a lil closer to an arrow that im aiming at his face..

well back in the day before I took a lil break from the game.. I distinctly remember A dev mentioning longbow would get some love, to have some more viability well did that happen under the radar or not at all..

I come back to crazy condi necro’s running around ele’s with higher burst even tho it was uneeded but alas im all for changes and each having their day..

but why you excite me telling me the main wep I used for decapping nodes was getting viability love and months later all these other classes have new toys/altered damage on skills and completely leave of the love for Longbow.. I died a lil inside

how about a lil bit of burning damage on the longbow… like how u put bleeds on gs way back when.. would be nice

I still think something is wrong in the base code if the test dummie for ranger still bugs out soon as he stomps someone..

how am I meant to feel about that as a ranger.. when the showcase of my class in the test field can’t even behave properly..

altho you cant really see on the stats I left when i was about 550 on the leader board and im about to drop off about a month or 2 without playing.. thats pretty good decay altho I was puzzled as to why one day I dropped like a stone one sharp drop about 100 places… so.. that might be built in decay ontop of the usual.. but that is pure speculation

this has been in the game a long time now..

but thought I would bring this up..

If you use any other class with access to quickness say like a warrior the same happens altho from past experience warriors quickness stomps seem faster on that delay or it might just be me going crazy, but there could be small differences in the code’s.. maybe.. if anyone wants to test and do side by side shots of ranger v warrior quickness stomps please do.. I would but I dont feel like making a warrior atm

how about custom colour schemes for users to select if they wish to change… admittedly this would be ultra low priority but the quality of life improvement is there enough to want to do this..

you proberly want to look up something called (skill-specific coefficient)

Skill coefficient: Every skill has a unique coefficient used to calculate damage inflicted. Listed by the () after tool tip listed on wiki pages, not shown in-game however.

The damage actually done will not correspond to the tooltip damage, since it depends on your opponents Armor value and other factors listed above

I am a big fan of 1v1 in this game and others.. the current set up with the 1v1 servers is very limiting having to watch game after game to then only have a chance at getting in the next match.. and if u have an average internet speed then you just wont be fast enough to play a game..

here is what I think could be an amazing addition to the game..

1 big map made and designed into a grid like fashion with each individual cell being a dueling area these are fairly large spaces to allow full movement..

the way I can see this being a hit is this, it would be like a hot join dueling area so you can hop between dueling partners at ease.. spectators can watch an complete over view or zoom in to particular duel.. this would stop the waiting to practice..

there could be a couple of built in features like an npc stood outside each cell of the grid with a few menu options for the duelers like.. No. of rounds, shout out of the winners and maybe a possible comeback shout out like (blue team is gaining strength)

with the current set up I could be in a 1v1 server for over an hour without a game.. (due no queing for next game and it being first come first serve)

Hope I was able to explain this in a way that truly reflects the original concept

when looking for servers to join in spvp sometimes I would like to change straight away say if I’m in a sever with the spectators taking up playing positions and I am unable to play in that server.. what I would like to see is access to the sever list from inside the game..

so when you want to change games there is a way to access the full list of severs while playing.. I dont mean so you can hop out of a losing game.. more to help fluidity while searching for the team match up..

stomping underwater already works..

If you can pull a test dummy to the water.. (e.g. let it kill you and it resets its leash range)

after you have placed the test dummy in the water let him kill you again and you will see the game can handle underwater stomping and all that would need to be added is the new animation. try it as the current animation the dummies use is very funny it’s like a chest trust have fun

p.s. I’m uploading a video to visually show what I mean.. will post as soon as it’s done

tbh honest if they shortened the leash range on pets alil bit its a good move..

I used to be able to send my pet mid to fight while I bunkered home or far.. so in balancing out that.. it’s fair

well timed poison as stated above will help and as a ranger you have access to loads

that and interrupting at the right moment.. to cause mini cooldowns are 2 basic things that will swing the fight

it’s really lame when something like animations are holding back an entire mechanic..

the only reason we will never see a change to this is it will cost more time/effort to change the animations to make rangers happy only to have the rest of the community cry that they cant dance around our pets anymore..

Anet has said that they are going to be adding different stat combos to the gear. Recently with the last content patch we got Sentinel gear

So we are seeing new gear attributes, we are just not given everything all at once.

as a bm ranger my pet does most of my damage.. i cant see any of that in a combat log so it’s completely useless to rangers..

a possible solution is.. if the ranger hasnt hit the player the pets hitting for say 20secs he returns to the ranger unless the ranger tells it to continue.. sort of like a pet checking where it’s master is now and then..

this may help with pets running off harassing players for long durations of a game..

from a rangers point of view.. have you ever watch a pet try hit any half decent player? the fact pets have to stop every time they want to attack seriously gimps there effectiveness, all you comparing arnt taking into consideration that a hell of alot of the pets attacks miss..

I would love to see official data on hit rate of pets in pvp..

back on topic.. the reason for the nerf to ele with the orb was that being able to go from the top of the stairs all the way to the node.. was well OP

that being said ranger GS leap is boardline op but only if you take a signet of speed to counter act the slow effects otherwise.. i dont see how others are not just as good.. i think warriors could be amazing runners but i dont think it’s clicked for many how many rush type skills they have..

I find it really irritating that I have to log into this website every time I visit the forums. Other forums and membership websites I belong to keep me logged in over the course of days and weeks, while this one logs me out simply by closing my browser or navigating to a new website.

I’m using IE10 on Windows 8, but have the same results with Chrome. Although with Chrome, I usually show as logged in when I land on the main guildwars2.com home page, but then show as logged out as soon as I enter the forums.

Please fix?

I use a browser that saves my details so I just need to press 1 button to login.. maybe this would be a nice work around until they / if they change the login..

I use opera btw (love the zoom feature)

what you need is a ranger runner with a GS for the leap and the signet speed buff to mitigate the slow effects of the leaps..

from taking orb a ranger can leap up the stairs.. run to the next stairs and then leap up the last stair or home straight..

having a fast/dedicated runner is key to this map..

thats from the running side of things anyways…

4k damage per clone shatter

sure…in narnia maybe…mesmer managed to shatter for 4k crits some months ago for a brief period due to a bug (Hotfixed after some days)…and meanwhile forum literally exploded…

that may well be the case.. but they still output more damage than a ranger pet..

and my point still stands about being at half hp after one shatter combo in tpvp.. and it’s not like im running a CG or anything.. im a full bunker..

so i have 16k hp thats around 8k damage per combo.. and it’s not on a really long CD as it’s not long before the other half of my hp goes..

so clones+phantoms doing less damage than a pet.. from my side of things.. is a complete load of bull

why does the game point out the downed clone?

Yes, because our damage is split between us and our pet. A Mesmer can hit very hard, with or without clones, we can’t.

This is not about is ranger easy to play or not..no one stated it was easy..
This is about the imbalances within the class mechanics

It’s difficult to make comparisons because mechanisms behind ours pets are unique and different from all others class. Pets are part of us for better or worse
But yes, Lick Wounds is a bit OP underwater because there aren’t stomps.

so your saying 4k damage per clone shatter + all the phantoms does less damage than a ranger pet? have you even seen a mesmer side point defender in Tpvp?

im usually at half hp of my 16k after the first wave if i cant dodge it.. love to see my pet pull that off as consistently and as fast as this..

That is for shatter mesmers.. being a different spec i get 3-4k total damage if i shatter all my phants and clones..

this puts me at a disadvantage though as that is my sustained DPS gone.. Even i get nuked down by shatter mesmers if they connect me..Heck that AoE even knocks out all my DPS..

I have a burst combo most people do.. These combo’s are made to eat away at the health of the opposition. This requires me to use 5 different skills as fast as possible though, not only giving me long CD’s but also easily avoidable.. That makes up for the damage it does.

not if your trying to defend a node.. that easily avoidable bit instantly disappears, there is no warning of a shatter about to happen.. if your both on a node.. you can side step my pet all day..

Solo Q > rest imo

As it is now i can spec for the map which adds a tactical component to the game. If the map choice was random that would be taken away.

I do see your point that it gets repetetive though.

if we could select the map we want to play then you could find a map that suits your spec.. or tailor a spec to what ever map whenever.. ahh the pipe dream..

Pet Attribute Bonus is an attribute unique to ranger that improves pet attributes. It is increased by the trait line Beastmastery. Each point spent in this line grants +10 to each of your pet’s primary attributes. THIS scales damage. Plus some traits, plus some utilities. Semantical argument on this at best. Fact is that Ranger pet can be made to do far more damage than even phantasm, which can far outclass minions in damage.

so in replacement of that skill we have “hunger” +1% to life force pool each trait point.. so necro’s get more survive and rangers get more damage.. seems about right and balanced.. the necro verison benifits him.. the ranger his pet.. both have there pro’s and con’s

Consume is a 1.25s slot 6 skill with no bearing whatsoever on weapons, furthermore it is extremely prone to interrupt due to the obvious animation and long cast (not to mention lack of access to stability without 30 trait investment). In terms of condition damage Scepter can apply bleeds marginally better than Short Bow at the cost of 300 less range, no AoE poison, longer CD (by 1s each) on the 2 and 3 skills, no finisher, and no swiftness or evade (apples to apples just looking at 1-3).

No, I am not saying that other classes do not have perks. I am laying out an argument that the ability to manipulate your primary mechanic while in down state is imbalanced as the original post inferred, and I used Necro as an example. No other class in the game gets access to their profession mechanic in down, and no other pets have the functionality of Ranger pets. I am simply applying logic without being a DB, and backing that logic with facts and observations. You can disagree, but implying that I came here just to QQ is inaccurate, and silly.

my side of the arguement was that there are lots of things we cant do that others can.. thats what makes this an mmo instead of a first person shooter with all the same skills..

im all for balance.. and letting other classes use their f skill is fine by me.. just dont take it away from me

my jag = 1574 power with 25 points in BM

40% of 1574 = 629.6

With 25 stacks of might at level 80, the bonus is +875 Power and Condition Damage.

875/ 25 = 35 (+35 power per might)

629/ 35 = 17.9885714286

anyways as for lickwounds underwater.. i aviod underwater combat as i feel it’s way out of hand too.. but i feel on land it’s not that op.. i’ll admit it’s a great class mechanic, just dont take it away from me.. buff ur’s by all means..

but i cant help but feel that this has been accounted for in the stats somewhere
and that it’s balanced for some unknown reasons to us.. but im biased as this skill is pretty handy.. but for tpvp it’s very balanced.. you rarely ever see a ranger actually rally from lick wounds..
