This is very annoying on a ranger..
A lot our damage comes from our pet and it does not show up on the combat list..
This makes the combat list worthless to me..
I think you are still getting credit for the kill even tho the combat log doesn’t show it..
sounds like its nothing to do with the game.. it sounds more like a pop up thats been installed on your computer.
adware will do this, you might want to check your pc for unwanted programs and or do a roll back see if that helps
its just the tool tip not updating.. I just tested in the mists..
look at the duration on the tool tip..
then use the elite and hover over the actual buff and look at how long its stacked for..
should all be working fine..
There are alot of avid PvPer’s that have no interest in the pve side of things..
when on the char selection screen you can only see the gear for pve..
It feels strange to log on and see my char in the wrong gear as I never leave the mists.
could we have an option to show pvp at char select please
ppl must be smarter with their condi application against someone who passively wipes them every 10s. the key word here is passively.
passive defences are double edged swords b/c the player has no control over when these defences will work. likewise with shared anguish or hide in plain sight.
proper class knowledge places the control over passive defences in the hands of the aggressor. that’s all i will say about beating trappers.
Or here’s a thought, maybe the fact that NO OTHER class in the game removes ALL CONDITIONS EVERY 10 SECONDS makes them overpowered? You know, just that other classes have entire abilities which take up utility slots and have cooldowns and have cast times and that remove ONE condition might make you wake up and smell reality.
Rangers are overpowered. Elementalists are overpowered. It’s not a L2P issue. It’s a BLATANTLY overpowered issue.

1.) Fix Empathic bond so that the pet actually absorbs the conditions and they do not simply evaporate.
2.) Switch Zephyr’s Speed (5 trait in Beastmastery) with Loud Whistle (15 trait in Beastmastery). That trait is simply too strong to be that low in the tree.
3.) Increase the cooldown of traps or reduce their AoE by a small amount. At the moment, if placed right, traps can completely cover a node which allows for no skillful counter-play. Traps can be placed prior to any engagement and by the time they are triggered they are already up again.
With these 3 fixes, I think rangers will be fine.
1) you want a neft on the condition removal of the weakest condition remover in the game?
2) we have no role we excel at.. only jack of all trades.. I think this trait leans towards giving us a role in PvP
3) other AOE in the game covers the entire node as well, like the elementalist’s for example.. so asking for a reduction on our traps while no other class is affected?

I would say there alot more stealth balance fixes that go unnoticed
The only problems I have with shatter mesmers are as follows
warning of shatter- seeing the trigger when both on a point
amount of damage- Im usually half hp so about 8k per shatter
how fast this can be repeated
seeing the real clone is no problem most of the time
there is just no way (in close quarters e.g. both on cap point) I can out heal / dps down fast enough… I dont have this problem with any other class
any advice on spotting the trigger for shatter close range?
The incoming AOE nerf might help this problem alittle..
if your running sword-dagger/shortbow then condition damage will be more dps for you..
if you want more dps change out the dagger for a torch as this is better with condition damage..
the only perks are pet related e.g. being able to tank for you.. access to a list of skills through pet F2.. search and rescue in dungeons is handy but I dont pve much..
This build is for point holding / control
using LB #4 point blank shot, push the bunker off your point then entangle them…
keep pushing off when off CD and you will slowly take node.
you can use GS #4 counter attack to push off if at edge and they are attacking you..
use LB #2 hunter’s shot to help your pet grind down bunkers
this has been working for me in TPvP
Thought I would share as it’s not a generic build but has a very good purpose
I mean more for when say at the keep when there are ppl on the ledge you have no way to damage them,
I know cus I did this and I faced a necro on said ledge… I could do nothing to him except watch him kill me..
only problem I see is no range attack, there will be times when you really need it..
How about we get good rewards for doing the monthly first, before we make it more difficult?

this is the main reason for the TPvP team size shake up..
with the 8v8 many logoff in the time it takes to pop
the 2v2 pop very fast.. so full roster
because of the shake up everyones doing paids so the problem just transferred to frees for now
soon as 2v2 goes live properly you’ll be fine, also I took the advice of moving to desolation a lil while ago.. best move ever
try dodging out of it, that usually works for me but if you mean your getting suck completely i have had this happen once before

Im looking for advice on how to move faster in PvP….not as in buffs, but from controls.
I usually use the WASD to move about, but when every I come across really good players they seem to be running circles around me…they move back and forth really fast.
Should I be doing something different? I’m not new to PvP, but I feel like i’ve hit a glass ceiling of some sort, and would like to learn better gaming habits if possible.

It’s properly the use of Q+E to strafe as this is faster than the backward walk, the is also an 180 about turn key in the control options thats unbinded by default, that is very handy for movement
it will be the spec, im guessing it was either a healing or trap ranger and the experience
rank has nothing to do with stats

and only 1k rank points
its the 2nd and my whole monthly is done, I wasn’t even playing that much
this should be a lil harder to get in my opinion
any suggestions on how we can make this more challenging but still reasonable at the same time?

I dont think there is a reliable method for that amount of damage.. its very situational

Yes I can get the pet to do lots of damage, but I haven’t seen it do 9K through the f2 ability yet; that ability for the pet to burst (for 9K) is what I am trying to track down.
the raven has a double attack so if you can get 4.5k with high stacks vulnerability and might on pet then this is probably how it was achieved

Because right now, DD literally has
everything: damage, mobility, healing, survivability. At least from a PvP standpoint.What’s wrong with that? Almost every warrior, guardian, and thief have those attributes. Are they they only ones allowed to have any fun?
And why are they trying to buff single target damage by nerfing AoEs? People who spec for single target damage should be kitten well prepared to only damage a single target. (A shocker, I know.)
Every class can spec for AoE damage except for ranger but them needing buffs is a different story entirely.Whats wrong with it is warrior, guardian, and thief cant do them all at the same time..

I just fixed it, so the list is more correct. Why exclude healing from a class that CAN heal, and quite neatly as well (the thief better than the warrior)? Warriors are very mobile, don’t forget that.
If you would say that the additions I made to the list is false, I would make you remove “DAMAGE” from the ele list, as that is the tradeoff for survivability, mobility and healing and is such a grand problem that most ele in PvP focuses on defensive skills only, winning by attrition.
Eles have always done mediocre damage, and the build you all hate so much is a result of the lack thereof. Other lightweight and middleweight classes have some sort of get out of jail card. The damage is crummy in those D/D survival builds, be mindful of that.
Another reason this build popped up, is that the ele has the lowest base health and armor in the game, FORCING you into using defensive gear/traits, as Anet gave us no alternative (again, because the damage isn’t there and the defenses are naturally lacking to make other viable builds).
Why do people always neglect to see or mention our naturally low health pool and armor, and mediocre damage for that matter. Personally I would gladly sacrifice healing and mobility for damage and invisbility.
I tried to generalize the most used/obvious attributes
warriors and thief aren’t well known for healing
guardians aren’t really known for damage
was a mock up list to try show ele’s have alittle more flexibility with there attributes

its hard to point you have naturally low health pool/armor when it can be almost impossible to kill on a 2v1 in alot of cases

I can beat DD ele’s and quite often too if it’s a pure 1v1 and given enough time, our fights are long and drawn out, and pretty epic.

Actually, you can use both scepter air 2 and 3 while channeling 1 (in PvE, if this is not the case in sPvP I apologise).
In keeping with the theme of the water attunment on the other Elementalist weapons, Ice Shards would have to apply vulnerability rather than weakness.
the problem with that is shatter stone already gives 15s of x4 vulnerability on a 2 sec CD so it can be stacked up with ease already..
Create a shatterstone at the target area that explodes after two seconds, inflicting vulnerability.
Damage: 252
4 Vulnerability: 15 s
Radius: 180
Range: 900
so why do u need more on your auto attack?
Nothing big, just allow us to use ice shards while shatterstone it’s activating, I’m sure this must be a bug, why else we shoulnd’t be able to use the water auto-attack while shatterstone is activating?
Finally can we add a condition to ice shards? Let’s add 3s weakness(1s for shard) to ice shards, this along with one of the improvement to dragon’s tooth, would make the set extremely good in my opinion
so you want to be able to use an auto attack while your casting shatter stone? does that seem right to you, essentially you are wanting to use 2 weapon skills at the same time.
the reason you shouldn’t is because you are casting shatter stone, no profession can use an auto attack during a cast time of another skill…

You can already use scepter air 1 with 2 at same time just cause the 2 is instant.
Shatterstone is worthless ability that makes no sence to cast unless it was made to not take any of your casting time…Ele state right now doesnt affect one bit the fact that shatterstone should be reworked cause right now its just a blank skill slot.\period
Maybe you would like to cast it if you know you gonna dodge immediately since its bugged and still fires when dodging…But weakness on ice shards with this duration is too strong .I would preffer a small bleed chance or make it a 20% projectile.Also dt landing requires more skill right now and you can still bait melees in it and use it for zoning without ccs.

go test it.. there is 1 1/2 sec casting time, if you use 1 straight after 2 you have to wait for the cast bar there is nothing instant about it.. even if it was that would of been a bug..
Edit: also if you do it the other way round 1 then use 2 straight after it just cancels 1 for 2

maybe healed the most, stayed alive longest, most damage, longest on point, most revives, just a few off the top of my head
think on 1-10
1= you have 1 in 1 chances to get a low drop
5= you have 5 in 10 chances to get a medium drop
10= you have 1 in 10 chances to get a rare drop
without MF you have a chance to roll any table 1-10
with high MF your only rolling 8-10 on the rarer drops
you have less overall drops because you are only rolling on much lower drop rates of the rares
and ignoring the low quality high drop rate tables..
hope thats clear.. is a nightmare to explain

but to help you learn how to counter said build/class a friendly duel would do wonders..
without having to take a server up..
I had a training day with 3 eles in hotjoin, after that I was far better at seeing there burst and in general how to counter..
I ment just being able to click on a nameplate and request a duel for fun..
even tho its not balance for 1v1 in anyway each class/build will have an opponent that they can win with ease, and another they get get rolf stomped by, so in that sense it kinda balances out.. sort of.. but dont quote me on that one :P
Edit: @Virgil I keep hearing it but any search I input to try find said words on balance i cannot find.. would like too see my self, so i know their stance on the matter and all the intricate details.. not just vague they only balance for 5v5 and 1v1 balance was never intended and will never happen..
as they adjust skills, and make changes which they are doing right now will in the end result in better balance across the board witch was more how i saw it

one possible fix could be the whole team needs to decide on kick not just 2 people.. but that creates all kinds of problems if a team member is afk for example
I have hunch on whats happing, MF basically improves your loot by getting you higher on the loot table,
“Everytime you kill a monster you roll on a number of tables, inside these tables are different rarity categories. Magic find increases the chances you will get higher categories. For example if there is a 1 in 10 category, and you have 200% magic find you will have 3/10 chances to get that category.”
while your chances of getting rarer loot is higher, the rare loot still has it’s own RNG
so your chance of rolling for the 0.001% rare drops increases but because your rolling on a really low drop rate alot more often will mean you get alot less loot..
but a higher chance of those really rare drops.
I see the troll won and brought the elementalist thread to mesmers…..

It’s not just annoying for weapons, but for armor as well. Why not let us store as many items as we want. They would have to rework the “withdraw collectible” option though, as right now you can’t take out just one items (as evidenced by pvp salvage kits, which stack in the locker, but not in your inventory).
when I had lots of stacks of salvage kits in the locker I drag it over to my bag and only take out 1
so I think the mechanism is in place already

isnt the mesmer downed #2 skill ment to be timed? so u use it just before the stomp?
so u are teleporting for that moment they hit the stake in the ground?
well thats how most use it..
only time you teleport into a player stomp is when you have incorrectly used the skill too early?
Edit: the probability that it could port you to where you camera is facing.. is pretty high from all the targeting mecanics.. altho i dont play mesmer.. so maybe if you reposition your view away from said stomper it might.. and i mean might dictate the direction? but that is pure speculation on my part..
Something got through on the patch and now it teleports you into danger 100% of the time. It used to be random and still not reliable at all but now its REALLY BAD.
just went to the mists to test the downed state skill,, it’s alot of fun on npcs..
i can see the teleport is random, but u need to wait for the last minute to use the skill cus if u port close to the player and you use too soon you will be revealed before he stomps and u die.
so my point about porting into stomping players is more about timing the skill so you are teleporting the moment the stomp hits. so even if you are under his feet as he stomps as long as you timed the skill u should not have been revealed when the stomp hits so you live..
altho most of you already know this..

can i ask when you state “the game is not intended to be balanced for 1v1” is there any arenanet post that says this or just from the player base?
They’ve said about a thousand times that the game is balanced for 5v5 conquest.
could anyone be so kind as to link this info if it’s been said “a thousand times” cus i cant find an official arenanet post about it.. and I would love to read their exact stance on balancing
