Ive already beat him, but just pointing out it is a game, with a criteria that when compared with work has far stricter criteria.

Look at the point of this event, its to bring the community together, to a degree it has brought us together, but at what impact has it brought us together.

You deem this as a complaint, but in fact this isnt a complaint, just a mere realistic view in comparison to how this world really is.

And lastly, if you like how things are, its much better to just state it as “I love how things are”, but respectfully, I just dont share your thoughts.

Thanks for your consideration.

The Question

Would you still go to work if you didnt know what you were getting paid?

Lets say you come to work for me, you get to pull a payroll check from a bag. For the most part 80% of the checks are for 1 dollar, 10% are for 100 dollars, 9% is 200 dollars, 1% is 500 dollars.

Or could it be

80% are for 500 dollars and 20% are even less money to the 1% chance of nothing.

The New Tequatl is a minimum time investment of 4 hours, 1 if your lucky.

Note: Me personally, Id rather know how much my check will be, rather than gamble if I will have power, television, internet, food and water.

So why do we accept this in entertainment, a leisure hobby that consumes time? Time which could have been used elsewhere, with a more successful fun factor and better risk versus rewards situation.

Let me know what you all think

RNG will always draw out bad loot, tokens means that if I tough it out, although it then becomes more time gated, I can eventually achieve my goals. Think about it this way 90 minutes each go with a 10% chance of success, 50% for some servers. Averages to 30%. It means 3 out of 10 wins, 900 minutes = 15 hours (3 tokens). It means that after 30 hours, its 6 tokens, etc etc

Consider 15 hours succeed or fail grants a token a run = 1 token no matter what, still means its only 10 token, that mean, 143 hours you can get 75 tokens, thats playing around the clock (no sleep) thats a week of non stop gaming, thatd prolly be a world record, chances are, it take more likely a week and a half for hardcore players to get enough tokens for proposed mini.

So I not sure why people dont want a system like that, it makes this actually worth doing rather then more RNG.

And yes, I am the guy that took 4000 Rare Greatswords and flushed them down the mystic toilet, then took the 300 Exotics it gave me plus the rares and kept flushing them over and over again to get zip. Not Dawn and certainly not Dusk, I could have taken all the money gained from that and bought both by now. The RNG is a rip off, so if loot doesnt change for this event, I will simply stop doing it and move on, its a waste of my time, and time is money.

So stop throwing your coins to the magical RNG, or else they will think we love it.

Dear Posters,

I am afraid to tell you that as most things have happened, it seems the only fix is time, as time goes on, they will see if they need to fix or adjust it, they are waiting to see how it plays out. As a customer of this developer, I can offer you a single remedy, patience. This a great learning experience for the Mega Boss team of what not to do clearly.

There is no way to fix AFKers/Griefers that wont also effect legitamate players. Overflows are for the impatient willing to gamble, its a fix for Queues, would you rather have a 12 hour Qeue, or a 1% chance your overflow can pull their kittens together while waiting for your Live Server.

Guesting can also work in your favor, when you take the attitude that all servers are my friends, load over their, log their servers teamspeak, organize and succeed. Guesting only effects WVW, which you cant be part of if its not your home server anyways.

The real problem is time.

If commander gets into a server, not an overflow, and says "Im leading this, give me gold, he will be laughed at severely, if hes in server TS, then wed know if it was a mere sarcastic remark made so in a teasing manner that most would dismiss anyways.

Blue Doritos, Aka Commanders, are merely community leaders, but that doesntnmean you have to follow them when they are being, “a lone skritt” for a lack of better words.

Most reputable Commanders would never do something like that in spite.

They should just roll back to old Tequatl, that way, the risk is worth the reward.

I have 1 more achievement, since I was a turret operator all times its succeeded, didnt get powerplay or wiggle chests.

After that, If I decide to do it, it will be because I am bored and guild events arent taking place.

Problem with wiggle chests is.

If your running a turret and dont defend a battery, no wiggle chest for you, heck, if you dont substantially defend the batteries, no wiggle for you, if your not one of the lucky 50 RNG’d players thay substantiallu defended the batteries, no wiggle for you. If you had to WP because your defending or dead under zerg and it phases, no wiggle for you. Heck, if your there during phase 1, everyone that does damage should get a wiggle chest (problem is afkers or leachers getting carried.)

Really, all loot should come as a chest at end, pass or fail on ground. They could have 4 different chest styles that spawn based on victory.

And sorry to say it, but the RNG fails this event, face it, its cheaper to buy gems, convert to gold, buy your mini teq then suffer the 1-24 hours of success rate. It will also get worse.

Um, a good setup is engineers with trait where they dont take condition damage when below 25% health.

A Warrior in turret 3 and 4 with banner is also a great idea.

Guardians and Warriors should stick to defense and zerg.

On phasing, when organized, turret operators and turn and heal/buff megalaser defenders.

After when Megalaser fires, turrets should all now be firing number 1, damage is 9900 per hit, 2500 anytime he has scales.

There are several things that make this hard.

- Having folks that wony use a voicechat program
- Having turrets that fly over the place to nearest target or in the direction of mouse clicker.
- Overflows where most folks dont try to voice communicate organize
- AFKers
- People that refuse to listen to commanders
- People that dont know what they are doing, dont understand, dont care about mechanics
- People that dont rezz downed players
- Dead players in bad rezz spots that dont WP and run back.
- People not rezzing (the 30-45 seconds of running back is worse then the 5-6 seconds of rezzing them. (You might never agree with this, but it basically just destroyed the rezzing mechanics and why everything always pointed us to use it, next they will contestball waypoints but the very north one, then see how useful WPing is)
- Motivation to succeed (sorry, its severely lacking)

folly dragon.4126

I think there are pros and cons to either direction.

In an instance or a guild version, it would be another reason to join a guild, the principles behind the story basically say that a guild fought a dragon before and it it also tore them apart (Destiny’s Edge). So it makes sense, however, the idea of tequatl was to make it more challenging, less of a mindless zerg, which honestly, other then the turrets and phasing, its still a mindless zerg. Stand here at his toes and zerg it, stand here with your 10 man squad and zerg hypnos, zerg that finger, spam turrets number 2, rinse and repeat, zerg the batteries, rinse and repeat.

The challenge is AFKers and Overflows. The timer also punishes your moral, as it make it feel like his health isnt going down.

Honestly, on failure, he shouldnt fly away, he should reset until we defeat him. Once he finally does die, thats when he should be on cooldown.

Or do away with his timer altogether.

There are so many ways to ressolve this in a compromising fashion its not funny.

Make rewards time gated, 15 minutes = 100% chance at something special, deduct 10% for every minute used thereafter until reaching loots current state.

TEQ rewards?

in Tequatl Rising

Posted by: folly dragon.4126

folly dragon.4126

Its not the only reason for me.

I spent 15 hours sunday in mumble helping and out of those 10 times, we beat him once. With a 10% chance to succeed, they would have to make it 100% chance at an ascended, mini or special ascended. This is where RNG fails and really they need to go currency, and not be unrealistic with it, meaning.

Acceptable would be

1 token = necklaces, aquabreathers
3 tokens = ascended regular
5 tokens = special ascended
8 tokens = mini tequatl.

At least with this, its a reason to invest time in it

Dailies HURT Casuals, Not Help

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

folly dragon.4126

I mean they implemented a variety of choices for dailies, really, most take me 5 minutes or less to do, so max 25 minutes.

The problem is you dont have time to do them.

As far as time gated crafting mats, well, again, can be done in 5 minutes, it means that you dont have computer access for 5 minutes or chose not to just log on really quickly to craft for your daily.

It would be nice if they gave us a system to make up for when and if a natural disaster happens, like those that might be or one day could be affected by a storm. But well, currently I dont see dailies as a burden when I miss them, because I could have done them after reset before bed and gathered the materials when I was playing.

Remember, there are otherways to get the same items that laurels are used for and crafting materials are used for, its just more random or requires you to run fractals.

So, the real problem emerges...

If this was instanced and my chances of a decent reward was increased, id say that I would spent the hours needed to help the others with it, but currently, due to afkers at south/east turrets, and folks that dont listen and dont understand turrets, its like banging your head against a brick wall full of nails.

I get what the OP is stating and respect it alot, however, I dont share the view of not changing it, they most certainly need to change it, this is supposed to bring the community together, and since this game doesnt have a built in teamspeak, it means this encounter should be doable by in game chat system, and since 95% of successes was due to teamspeak, that tells me that its to hard.

Content like this that require teamspeak belong in an instance with raid like rewards.

I may do it a few more times, for my last 2 achievements, but buying gems, converting it to gold and buying stuff is going to be my new trend, ive lost way to much on this kitten RNG system that seems to reward the same 10 players over and over and fails the rest of population. Teq would have been better instanced. Everyone cries for difficult content, its because they are crying for a raid instance, not a world content raid.

You have many different playstyles and claim to be trying to broaden our traits and skills, but force us via encounters like tequatl to respec and regear to be competitive. Then afyer the 1/10 tries, we get lucky and coordinated only to get garbage. The risk ate all my time and rewarded me with garbage that a dungeon path would give me with 15 minutes time vested rather then 15 hours vested.

So take your teq and shove it.

Personal Opinion

in Tequatl Rising

Posted by: folly dragon.4126

folly dragon.4126

Actually

1. A timer increase would help on overflows – which is really the problem, expecially the wait til it pops type people that show up a minute late in swarms. Of course, I prefer it without a timer, but to many of us complained about failing encounters and gettingvrewarded for it for them to rollback now.

2. The fingers arent the problem, the scaled up krait with infinate repops and champions are.

3. Read my number 2, part of the problem is turret 1 and 6 going down because of infinate repopping kraits with champions that take 4 minutes to kill. You need all 6 turrets running. But a simpler fix would be adjust the cooldown to a lower time on #2 ability.

4. The health isnt really a problem, the time it takes to get him to phase 2 is. Phase 1 takes between 8-10 minutes, after that, if all happens right, youll take him down 75% in 3-5 minutes.

Personally, first phase is to long and psycologically jinxes already low moraled players. It sgould go from easy to get to phase 2, then a little tougher for 2 and 3, the final leg should feel like the anchor. Currently, its reversed.

I admit, I didnt read everyones post, just the first few.

As far as toughness is concerned, its great if it was instanced and made on a less scale of people as raids. It would also be okay if you didnt have overflows and we could actually bring our individual servers community together. As it stands currently, your thrown in an overflow, not even an overflow for your own server, so coordinating as put a horde of pugs from different servers is practically undoable.

So maybe on the overflows where organization is bad because bunch of misfits are thrown at each other should be tweaked down quite a bit, afterall, its not my fault that I will never ever see sparkfly fen on my home server again for at least 3 months.

We all know what will REALLY happen.

If tequatls loot is given at the end based only on suceeding, then they havent learned anything, trying and failing and not getting anything will turn most people away.

What my understanding is, every 25%, youll get a reward, but your chances for something great increases each time and even moreso if you succeed.

Well, perspective, after 5000 items into the mystic forge, weekly guild events since they released it, dungeon master, many fractals, many champ boxes, world bosses, average of 7 hours a day play, I have yet to see any precursor drop, heck only last week in the wiggle chest did I see an ascended jewelry piece drop (not infused).

So omega rare minis and Unique Ascended weapons sort of kitten es me off, it insults my intelligence. Ive given up on the gear treadmill, I may do the Tequatl event, but surely it wont be for loot, heck, at the end of the day, it will prolly cost me money doing the event.

And if its anything like SS, where you dont get rewarded til the end succeed or fail, it will more then likely steer me away. Several times during peek (which is my play schedule), I crashed to come back in an overflow, forefeiting my rewards for pass or fail.

Massive fights that have lockouts don’t work unless you have culling again. And my computer is on the max side of system requirements.

To Vayne and Inferna

Really, as a forefather player to this venue, mmorpgs, there have been many times in this industry were gaming developers and investors set a carrot on a string and kept baiting and baiting, eventually keeping their proposed upcomings and eventually delivering, but by that time, patience was lost and many folks bailed never to be heard from again. Granted, so far Anet is delivering on their current hitlist geared for “By the end of the year”. As a hardcore casual gamer, I am good with that. As I am sure you both are, the real idea that I truly hope Anet realizes and understands, is not to try to burn the candle at both ends. Aim for your statistical demographic, based on how short or long you want your financial return.
Angering all sectors of your playerbase would be disasterous for any development.

I could name several developers that went out of their market (demograph) and found themselves selling their companies (I cant cite examples for TOS reasons). Anet cant and will never please all demographs, the real issue is they still havent drawn a line in the sand, or maybe they have and we players just havent taken to it wholeheartedly.

As a customer and a client, I would say I am 75% satisfied with the service. So game on!

My thoughts on Ascended/Direction of game

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: folly dragon.4126

folly dragon.4126

There are a few things I dont see eye to eye on in Guild Wars 2.

Such as:

Personal Story was supposed to impact how your character was treated and acted. Ive got 8 level 80 Asurans (meaning I have done all their stories) and 1 Charr 80. As far as speaking abouy Asurans, the personal story doeant impact anything or if it does, very slightly.

With regards to Ascended and Legendaries, the Ascended system should have been how Legendaries are made to be honest. Adding to the treadmill wasnt needed, but since I personally dont know where they got their statistics of why we needed to advance weapon tiers, I can only Imagine the true facts of why. I just hope this is going to be it but truth be told armor should follow soon, the crazier question will be jeweler and jewelry and what will happen to the value of laurels and guild comms. Remember, every change is another change is another change and another.

Living Story, it bothers me that the vote was supposedly the first impactful story changing mechanism, it brought out our evilness as a community, heck, it even had me and my brother at opposite ends of the spectrum, In a very minor mild form, I now can understand some feelings of the civil war in the US.

Fun? Zergs are not fun, expecially using my computer as a stress test for scarlet, which by the way is now set graphics wise to best performance rather then the real beauty of best appearance. I got booted many times at end of each event, struggled to get back in gor rewards but missed out on them due to lockouts of zones being overburderened. So I can only imagine Tequatl is going to punish me for playong and trying to have fun, So I get to avoid an encounter even though my PC is the high end of system requirements.

Flame and Frost dungeon was a great example of what should be happening, although I know many will complain thakittens not soloable, but everything about the personal story leads up to the character progression as informally telling the player that they cant be anti-social now that they are level 80.

The Guantlet was a neat change, but I believe it would have been better suited as a solo dungeon per Tier to allieviate some lag issues. It could have been just like the home instance is, where you challenge each boss, etc. I know its a mute point, but from the past can we ever aspire to assist the present in changing the future.

I have faith in Arena Net, not because of being a fanboi, but because I understand a few things.

A. Money doesnt grow on trees, it grows in hands, which are everchanging hands, far greater then seasons. Yes, your a business, we get it, you want to grab that money while the grabbing is good, but just remember, after the zerg packs it up in lieu of the next big promises from another developer, you will still have some players that love you, but dont burn the candle at both ends.

B. You a service, you are supposed to serve your clients, sure, you may have the creative rights and controls and may feel its a suitable service, but if your patrons arent happy, they will drop you faster then a right to work state does before an employee is eligible for healthcare.

C. The baby that cries first, gets the milk. This is tough, because as Evon and Ellen showed us, people of both sides will cry over the most kitten of things. I surely dont envy any service that has to provide for people and demographics.

D. Stick to your guns. Just because the other guys guns look prettier, doesnt mean they shoot, doesnt mean they shoot bullets either. A gun is useless if it doesnt fire, it might save you 50% of the time having a gun wothout bullets, 20% can result in a self inflicted injury, 5% means Game Over. So if your thinking about continuing the trend of toying around with an unloaded gun, Id strongly advise 2 things, dont play with guns, and if your gonna use a gun, make sure its loaded. (That was a metaphor describing hlw its felt over the coarse of the past year in case you missed it). Leave Russian Roulette to the pros, thanks.

RNG sucks, it would nice if we could turn in exotics for a precursor ticket, then trade in 1000 tickets for one handers and 2000 tickets for 2 handers. To me, this would be the fairbway of doing it. But we will see.

On jump 4 to ledge, its near impossible without the speed buff from barrel, except, barrel gave me stealth and not speed several attempts and now only gives 1 barrel instead of 5, so if you fail the first attempt with speed, you have to restart. This jump really needs to be reevaluated.

Lets turn gold to cash

8000 gems is about 300-400 gold

So dusk costs around 225 USD

Then you have all the rest of the mats to acquire, including 3 that are already a natural gold sink. 120 gold means 2200 gems (35 USD)

Then the dungeon time gating, lodestones (take time)
T6 Inscription mats (Blood, Claws, etc).

There is no reason whatsoever a precursor should cost more then the mats required to make the legendary.

Ive said it before, The yearly birthday gift should have had a ticket to acquire a soulbound precursor.

Possible Spoiler Warning

OP,

They just tied alot of living story content together and created a future new nemesis.

Alot can come of this new nemesis. Including new alliances, new maps, new monsters and races (which anet themselves said they saw the need to expand on)

I like the thought that future expanding of the game will come with living story. And you say thakittens only temporary, shall we discuss Southsun? (Its still there).

Fact is expansions take years to create and the vast bulk of players will finish it in less then ba month and be back to asking for another expansion.

Also, raising cap derails the original idea of making it less of a treadmill. Which by the way effects WVW, current dungeons, PVP and fractals, and current balances for classes Ascended Weapons and Legendary changes, plus the new stat changes are already going to cause several changes and hotfixes as it is.

Also note that only Weaponsmith, Huntsman and Artificing are currently going to 500, Since unless Armor Smith, Tailor and Leathersmith are getting Ascended Armor, they basically mean nothing. Jeweler and Cook take backburner.

Just understand expansions arent always the answer.

I hate to say it,

But any group can just run up, hit the two devises, summon the event ender chamion Azarbad, then at range, plink away until its 20% away from ding and then everyone else joins in to kill it at that point. There is no real need for this to become dramatic. This game titles managers are smart, they see it as something that’s bringing the community together, although, they realize that it would be better if it was to succeed at an event then to choose to not succeed at it.

The players can sort the problems to fixing the ember/ meddler event, I for one like the developers approach, it gives them the opportunity to see what classes are in demand for grouping, and what are least in demand and why.

The real place to do this is crown pavilion, and a solution would have been more champions and faster respawns between events.

Group content really isnt a problem since you can guest, the real problem has had more to do with over achievers. You could simply run past the group events. As far as Arah story, it’s by far not a big deal, and there are out lets set up by players to assist with looking for group until an official one comes. The guild community I joined always helps, and I understand when they can’t, but they at least raincheck me.

As far as Arah Waypoint, the idea is, your group clears the way, so off course you should have a group to do story.

I believe that the promoting of grouping starts early at level 30, with the email to AC dungeon. The developer was smart in the beginning, stating they didn’t want level progression to feel like a grind, and that they wanted you too be able to get to end game fairly quickly.

Once you’ve seen one rector and crazy maniacal Asuran, you’ve seen them all, my votes were unrepresented.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Reactor disaster was caused by the Inquest sending people back in time to harness the power of the gods, causing the defeat of Abaddon and an explosion that rippled through time to cause the Reactor explosion. So maybe it could happen?

The election was rigged anyway. I couldn’t find a bucket to cast a vote for Captain Suwash. I hear he would’ve researched the Quaggan-nado fractal and had half-priced crab cakes for everyone.

You sir/maam, read my mind. However, as a disgruntled and unrepresented Asuran, my vote would have gone to Mr. Sparkles, who promised black market purchasable Golem Vehicles and a new fractal Super Adventure Boxed, featuring the boss Abbadon.

um,

hardcore versus casual? There was nothing hardcore vs casual. Face it, anybody who knows guild wars lore wanted Abbadon ( unless they wanted a change of lore). Those that are not Guild Wars players don’t know about Abbadon. So of course, RNG keys, that are fairly costly even when converting gold to gems or waypoint savings. The Fractals were to cater to Hardcore ( time gated dungeon). The discount (keys or waupoints) was to appeal to casuals.

So the nitty gritty comes down to the discounts and not the fractals. Kiel won because of Waypoints, not because of Fractal and Lore.

I am okay that I missed the voting, I am okay with waypoints reduction, I am fine that they won’t do both fractals.

note: They didn’t say they wouldn’t turn it into a dungeon, which is where I would rather see Abbadon anyways.

+1, However, my signature is to watergate Kiel, and replace them with an Asuran Leader.

Fractals being tied into the vote

Personally,

I would rather see them install a new dungeon then a fractal. Sadly, it’s easier to get into a dungeon, then a low level fractal. Plus, a dungeon would bring new skins, armor and weapons. Fractals really need a reworking in order to bring their appeal back, personally, they need to scrap agony, make it scale to the average of the fractal levels of the group, dish out rewards based on reward level.

This way, if my fractal level 29 buddy wants to take his level 2 buddy with him, he doesn’t get penalized for it.

I believe this would increase its appeal.

This trial would have made a great SPVP map.

But the trial itself caters to DPS groups, I shouldn’t need to reroll my specs and weapons to be able to contend, and I hate when folks get to carry me through something, because my preferred playstyle is not high dps.

the trials are supposed to be hard, but you not only battle a clock, but you battle plunderers from taking the loot, and every multiples guards, yeah, that sounds pretty much like every class versitility is working properly.

I am not really complaining about it, what it’s 10 or 20 achievement points and 0 free skins for me for not doing it.

Yeah, I believe they should have made us turn into an NPC with the right tools, and left it hard, but at least, if we failed, its not because of spec.

Everything else was decent, and probably got some of us to do what intended purpose was. IE: Fractals, Dungeons

give me flame and frost dungeon again already. Pfft to the fractal.

Looking for more, fractal level 20, but I am only fractal 1, can I still go? what’s your AR, it’s my first fractal. Sorry mate, if you had 25 AR, we would gamble on you, sorry.

Looking for group, fractal level 1 ( Two hours later), getting permanent supressed messages). (still waiting for a group)

Kiel is a secret inquest agent in disguise that will cause a reactor leak, which could lead to an explosion if you don’t handle the obstacles quick enough.

Evon is actually Abbadon, you can see it in his smile.

bah,

Id rather vote for a Skritt, at least they have shinies.

Don’t vote for either, it’s either a furry or a bookah, neither candidate will stimulate an Asuran intellect, what we need is an Asuran candidate to join this race. Then it will be explosive, pun intended.

Brought to you from the race that brought you guns and gates.

okay,

I get the concept of it, as far as rewards go, it works, but tying achievement points to it and not being able to complete it sucks. I love the fact it is hard, but under stand, when you kill a plunderer, more non plunderers spawn, so if I am going for bare minimum, I have to not only need Tanky, but deal extreme DPS, because so by the time I have 8 plunderers killed, Ive got like 18 mobs on me.

Really, it should work like this, Every time you kill a plunderer guard, 2 should pop up, that’s for those going for loot and rewards, those going merely for achievements, it should be more about sustaining while keeping plunderers dead.

Currently, it’s impossible for all but a small percentage of folks.
