94% atm, I was at 300 but started to soloQ heavy and dropped all the way to 75%. Just had a 4v5 against a really bad team of 4 guys and 1 pug, and lost by 95 points, then got paired with those 4 guys we lost by 95 points to, and went against 3 of the players I was put with in the 4v5, and got obliterated by 300 points because they had a 5th lol. I worked my way up to 95%, 2 losses, probably tumbling down into the 30% range
Just had another premade, and to make it better we had a quitter so it was a 4v5.
Gotta love this game.
On the bright side we lost only 20 points, but hey, a loss is a loss in this game, it counts against your LB score regardless and doesn’t register the fact you were playing with 4 players.
GG aNet
/sigh SoloQ,
Changes are on the horizon, just keep telling myself that. I have my calendar set in eager anticipation. December 31st, 2013. The last day of the year, and the last Tuesday of the year, that is when the changes will finally hit.
Looking into building a spectral fear build. This is what I have so far, but looking for suggestions on ways to make it better. I am not familiar with the Spectral Attunement so IDK if it is worth taking, or if I should look into something else, also IDK what the sweet spot for fear duration is atm.

I usually run it, it’s very nice for side point defending, throw it down and use the golem and run 30% damage increase and flesh of the master and it’s pretty awesome when your enemies are chain feared and getting pelted for 2k every round by your pets, not including all the condis your throwing out
Are people really putting Warriors above tier C?
Viable still? Haven’t played Engi actively in awhile, not sure what they changed on it.
U kidding with those changes right? No wekaness at all? -50% bleed? next big nerf to Dhummfire and more CD on it? Next terror nerf? With those necro will be even worse it was in the beginig, there will be NO DMG at all, and low hp, u clearly never played necro be4 and now and u got poor knowledge/skill on other classess demanding such stupid nerfs. Lets nerf the nerf.
looooooooooool
I actually wasn’t talking about you, but about said thread. In 24 hours, that thread generated more dev comments and actual balance changes than the entire Necromancer subforum has in a year. THAT is what I am disgusted by.
Please understand that my job is to make sure the feedback of the sPvP players is properly communicated back to the company (note my title). The reason why I communicated in that thread was because that is my job. We have other community coordinators that are focused on other parts of the game.
The reason why I focused my communication in that thread is because it was loaded with constructive feedback, which should always be promoted. No, it was most definitely NOT the only thread about Necromancers. Also, it was NOT the only thread that I posted in regarding the Necro changes and feedback.
Now, with that in mind; This was a change that was SPLIT between PvP and PvE. The change ONLY happened for PvPers, and it was a quick turnaround due to the fact that the tournament was starting this weekend.
This does NOT mean that we ignore the Necromancer forums. This does NOT mean we don’t make changes that benefit PvE. This does NOT mean we don’t have hotfixes specifically to help PvE players.
Appreciate your feedback, but many of the things you are claiming are simply not true.
Since you and the rest of the devs seem to read something and implement it,
Patch notes for August 6th, 2013:
Death Shroud Changes:
We have decided to make much needed changes to Death Shroud by increasing the degeneration rate by 6%, lowering doom duration to 1 second, and removing Tainted Shackles from Death Shroud altogether.
The Necromancer health pool will be lowered to the lowest tier to compensate for their ability to have a second health bar in Death Shroud.
Terror: Reduced the damage by an additional 17%. Added a mechanic that allows Terror to be reflected to the user.
Dhuumfire: Reduced the duration by another 50%, increased the cool down to 15 seconds.
Chill: Have reworked the duration on all skills in the Necromancer line to have a duration of 2 seconds.
Weakness: Have removed weakness from all skills in the Necromancer lines.
Bleed: Have lowered the duration on all skills in the Necromancer line by 50%.

They will rework the trait with the next patch. This is more or less a hotfix for the Pax toruney. If you want to see the dev post stating that, look in the pvp subforum.
Just like the soloQ is on the horizon? Never trust an aNet dev to hold to their word, more than likely their definition of rework, is to nerf terror another 17%, take burning out completely, remove torment from DS, increase DS degeneration by 6%, and lower doom duration to 1 second.
Hotfixes like this are just further proof that the devs have no idea what they are doing with this class.
I will never understand how aNet can see an adept trait as balanced, but a grandmaster trait as OP, and they are the exact same traits.
The simple logic behind the nerf is completely kittened IMO. A grandmaster trait is considered too powerful on the Necromancer, but the exact same trait in the adept line on the Engineer is considered balanced? They do realize the Necromancers are going 30 points into this line for that trait, right? Gimme a break. I play both btw, and this is one of the most completely kittened nerfs I have ever seen. ANet devs have absolutely no idea what they are doing with this game atm.
I will never, ever understand the logic in nerfing Dhuumfire. This has to be one of the single dumbest things I have ever heard of a balance team doing. You nerf a grandmaster trait because it is “too powerful”(aren’t these supposed to be pretty powerful?) on the Necromancer, but literally, the exact same trait on the Engineer is in the adept line and it is considered okay?
Lol okay aNet
The fix that is coming is in consideration of the time that we had to complete it. We are planning to rework some things when we have more time, but felt this would be sufficient for now, considering the first Qualifying tournament is tomorrow.
I assume you are nerfing the Engineer trait as well? Oh wait…

Just looking into them for a change of pace/fun type build, I have built a few but idk if they are good or not, not sure exactly what they run, or what they look like, the ones I have been building are running heal sig, sig of fury, on my mark, and the last two slots are always up for grabs, and generally 0 30 0 0 30, with the last 10 points being put wherever. Would love to see a few though if anyone has them, googled to no avail.
This thread… lol, Warriors, OP, lol, you guys are hilarious.
Good build! I like the departure from Cleansing Ire in favor of more synergy with your utilities. Good variant of the M/Sh / GS.
My only suggestion is Hoelberk instead of Lyssa.
I have never really understood the infatuation with the Hoelbrak runes. I just don’t see it.
the -% duration on it if stacked with something else bugs out and rounds incorrectly.
Everything rounds in .25 so 0->.25->.5->.75->1
At -20%, if you have an additional -6% condition duration from ANYwhere, it’ll automatically get bumped to -50% condition duration.
AKA a lot of the times it greatly reduces condition duration, helps against fear spam, and stacks well with Might abilities / fire field blast combo finishers.
It’s a solid choice if you already have a ton of toughness elseware and don’t need as much, but don’t want to sacrifice the condition duration. It’s a nice middle ground.
Oh wow, I didn’t know that, thanks for the intel.
We fought a team last night for our mistleague matches that brought a bunker Warrior as their primary bunker.
He ran a similar build to the ones listed above.
The end result was 500-30, 500-80 in our favor. We just demolished the Warrior, he couldn’t bunker much of anything, even the regen was bad against poison.
Still not viable imo.
Are you sure it was just the bunker warrior and not the soloQ feeding your team a victory?
:D
It was a mistleague match, not a tournament que.
AKA, these are teams that have signed up specifically to fight over teams in a third party ladder.
It was their full roster, a premade. All the players were a sPVP level of 30+
Missed the Mist League part, up way to early atm

The tests would automatically be flawed in that
1) If you used two different players, one for guardian, one for warrior, your assuming they are of equal skill level.
2) If you use one player, your assuming they play both classes at equal skill level.
Just saying.
Any other class complaining on the warrior forum about their own viability is just funny.
LOOOOOL!!
this
Torment?
Rework of Jug?!
Rush/Bull?!?
Healing Buffs?!?!?!
Apparently I’ve been sucked into parallel dimension where ANet actually <3’s warriors!
We care about all professions. =)
If you cared about necromancer, then this patch would not have been there. Believe what you want, perceive class balance as you want, but necromancer are almost useless now, and the worst 1 vs 1 class in the game. All my investments Annihilated. Now i must reroll.
Translation:
I JUST got my necro maxed for the OP-ness and you did a balance patch! QQ!
Must be a bad necromancer if he thinks their useless.
Yea, probably even before the sun gets too big and eats Earth.
Just stay healthy for the next 1 billion years.
Not to say I didn’t expect anything this patch, ……. but I didn’t expect anything this patch, or the next, or the next, …… or the next.
With the new patch buffs, are they viable yet? Or still in the dumps?
I am thinking the dumps still, but who knows.
If I were to run one, with the change to healing sig, this is what I would run :O

It’s coming guys, just be patient…
/rolls eyes
You know what this means,
get ready for an inflow of would be Warriors,
can’t wait to watch them flop.
I’m not so sure it means that, but I’ll welcome new Warriors. When they realize another 50-100 HPS doesn’t compensate for them not knowing how to play, they’ll go back to where they came from, or continue to feed me kills.
If all the Necro tears rain an influx onto the Warrior class, they’re in for a treat.
It means essentially what you just said.
I saw a few posts about a few Necro’s actually complaining that Warrior’s got buffs, LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL…

Cant be worse then you.

Shut your dirty mouth and make me a burrito. See you in game Puandro, Arah was painful, I am still recovering from the torment you put me through.

Did I see someone whining about warriors getting a buff? The worst class in the game getting a buff deserves a whine? LOOOOOOOOOOOOL…
These changes were needed in a severe way, the Necro wasn’t in the least bit in control, I play one, I should know. It’s not like they still won’t be running up into the battle lawlz kitten the entire field with condition spam, so chill.
I just posted a question on the sPVP forums about thoughts on a new stat line, a defensive stat line for the purposes of reducing condition damage. Now if say something like that were to ever be implemented, then gaining that would be viable. Who knows though.
With condition damage just reaching outrageous proportions, naturally the mind goes towards ways to mitigate this damage. Coming from Dark Age of Camelot, we had resistances to lessen the blow of certain damages. Fire resist for fire damage, Ice for Ice etc., seeing how there is no elemental type damages in this game, it would be relatively simple to implement a stat line along the lines of toughness, but geared towards reducing condition based damage. What is the communities thoughts on this. Would it help or hurt the game?
Why would you gain toughness when you have conditions on you? :P

I like it a lot.
So I ran into a warrior, don’t remember his name, and he royally pounded me into the ground, over, and over, and over again. So I intrigued about his build and adjusted a few things and made my own version which fits my play style a little better. Thoughts/comments are welcome, it is for sPVP/tPVP. Been working well enough for me. Biggest weakness of the build is the lack of conditions clears and if I run into multiple condi classes I can be melted down, but then again, what class won’t be melted down by multiple necro/engi’s? :P

Defektive, I think it’s great you have a tourny viable build+team. Congrats, keep on trucking. But there are plenty of issues with the class, regardless of how successful you are in tPvP.
Yes, many of the issues can be “played around” using certain builds, teams, and comps. I liken it to that huge pothole down my street. I know it’s there, and I veer to avoid it, so I can get to work every day without issue. But the fact remains that there’s a giant friggan gaping hole in the road that should have been fixed long ago.
Some moves are over-telegraphed (ex: earthshaker, final thrust). Others are buggy (ex: rush, staggering blow). We lack any real self-sustain without speccing and gearing for shout heals.
It wouldn’t hurt to have some deeper mechanics either, a revamp and expansion of the Adrenal system. I’d love to see more complexity, an F2 based on offhand for example.
What he said.
I can see the argument on both sides of this disagreement. On one side, Defektive has come up with a completely viable build, assuming your playing with a team who is competent, on the other, you have the remaining 95% of the sPVP-tPVP community who plays the Warrior in a not so intellectual enviorment, hotjoins-soloque etc., who see the weaknesses of the Warrior class full front, with it’s lack of sustain etc.
Overall I like what Defektive has done for the Warrior, you can’t blame him for trying to help out the community by posting viable builds and showing you what they can do in a high level setting. His statement was best. If you don’t like stun builds, don’t play stun builds, it really is that simple.
No, you are not seing anything, the other side of the argument is that the team needs to build themselves and make strategies around having the warrior in the team, wich most teams are not going to do because they can just invite another class better.
Actually, I am seeing that, I just said that, whether you think another class is better at a certain task is your opinion, it is not fact.
Well lets go to facts then:
Warrior class suck.
Are you sure it is the class?

I have never really enjoyed using the Mace/Shield or mace builds, I;m more of a GS/LB or GS/Hammer type of player by default, either holding distance or using the mobility of hammer F1 and GS movement to stay on and punish a target. But with CC so easy to remove, and being the only way for a warrior to really stay on a target. It makes it incredibly frustrating simply because it takes soooo much more effort to do your role than other classes.
Most, if not all, other classes can deal enough damage or simply lock people down without nearly as much work put into actually achieving it.
As a staff necro I am completely baffled as to why and how so much utility is put onto a single weapon and given to one of the highest HP pool classes (aside from us warriors) with 1200 range…
when I play a thief I simply don’t understand why so much in-combat stealth and get-out-of-jail-free mobility skills can be used simultaneously and still deal crazy damage.
As a guardian I completely forget where my dodge button is because of the amounts of passive defense I have in protection, aegis and retaliation….I just spin2win
I haven’t delved into mesmer, so I cannot comment….but I can only imagine.
Engineer is kinda meh, but can pump out some decent burst out of absolutely nowhere….and 20 seconds of burning ticking for 700-1k a pop is always awesome…
Ranger I have not used anything other than regen ranger, but ive been on teams with a spirit ranger….kitten
Warriors, we get CC, and maybe a quick spike if you are packing frenzy and the enemy stands still. But that is all we have, we are kited like no tomorrow, chilled, crippled, immobilized, and pulled and pushed all over the place…and give up precious utility slots just to gain slight bits of stability or condition removal to try and deal with it.
Hopefully there is something in store for us in the future, but I am going to my alts for now.
You just gotta get better man. First few runs on my warrior, I was like man this class is pure garbage, it was a complete culture shock in switching from my Engi and Necro in which I could make a multitude of mistakes and not notice them because of the potency of those classes, to playing a Warrior, where one or two mistakes you might be able to survive, but any more than that and you are done. It has made me a much better player learning the warrior, and now I find the warrior to be loads of fun. The burst potential of the class mixed with the CC and sustain is something that I have not seen in any other class(except for the Necromancer which is due for a nerf soon). If I have any advice to you, my biggest problem I had when I was new to warrior was knowing when to put on the pressure, and when to lay back and play defensive. If you push in to kitten some enemies you will kill yourself, but if you play to defensive you will kill yourself. Once you learn this you will succeed.
I’ll have to take your build around for a spin. On paper I am not seeing the DPS, but GW2 isn’t played on paper.
It’s not a burst build but it puts out very good steady damage on a target while keeping them disabled most of the time. A target that gets down into the 50% range can easily get themselves instagibbed by the build. Skull Crack – Crushing Blow – Final Thrust – Tremor. All stunlock and can do over 14k damage in total.
Also gotta keep in mind its low crit but there’s +50% crit chance vs stunned and you’re constantly stunning people. I Final Thrust a necro for 7100 last night, not bad for how tanky I am.
I dunno what this person is talking about above as if there’s only 1 stun to land so your wad is blown if you miss it, false. 2 stuns, 1 daze, 1 knockdown all on short cooldowns. That’s a lot of stunning people, and you’re not limited to one target.
Nothing says I can’t use the full Adrenaline Skull Crack on someone else then continue to focus my other stuns on my main target, etc. So many options.
Don’t get me wrong I think the build looks very interesting, and a very different take on the warrior class, which is why I like it. It differs from the usual mace+shield/GS builds, and that intrigues me. I will just have to play it to see how the DPS all comes together. I can imagine a high stability build ruining your day though with this build lol.
I’ll have to take your build around for a spin. On paper I am not seeing the DPS, but GW2 isn’t played on paper.
Good job, nicely done.
The correct answer to blind spam is probably going to be “Berserker’s Stance”. What I’d like to know is what to do if they just kite you for the 8s then resume doing their blind spam thing.
Your assuming their intelligent.
