There won’t be any balancing if you let people transfer where they want to. It’s obvious after all these years that the majority of players don’t want to fight vs equal numbers.
If that was the case there wouldn’t be worlds with stacked NA, stacked OCX, stacked SEA.
So it’s your job, dear Anet, to force people to stay where they are to avoid creating stacked worlds and destack everything. Players will not destack their servers as long as they have an advantage because of it.
You have to create a balance for every timezone not a balance for “this server has a total of 1000 wvw players” if these 1000 wvw are 90% NA (this will be total different for EU)
In the end it will end in having maybe 2 or 3 tiers which may offer fair fights in most of the timezones.
To achieve that goal:
- lower population caps for the worlds which will end up in ridiculous queues for stacked worlds in some timezones
- check the transfer numbers more often and lock servers – you will need to talk with your customers (and guilds) to avoid killing guilds here
- limit transfers to 1 per year or make them more expensive if the player has a transfer history and likes to transfer often (check for linked accounts here to avoid alt transfers)
- measure participation of players in wvw more often
- create a system that rewards winning against superior forces and rewards transfering to underperforming worlds. So if server placed 9th is in a match up with 3rd and 4th give them more loot, more ranks, more stuff which makes them want to show up and fight.

Why do you use that build anyway, dont you have selfrespect as a thief?
How can one use self respect and thief in a single sentence. Nobody with a bit of self respect would roam with a condi thief or d/p. Both are mostly brainless builds.
People crying about warriors being lame and stuff and play such builds is an art form of double standards.
Big difference between thief and war is that the thief is the worst class at any N vs N fights (it is better then some for certain N vs M, but never for equal numbers).
If some lose in a duel to a thief (while playing any other class on a roaming build), then said thief is simply miles better skill-wise. The same is not true for a war though.
Yep, that’s the mindset of a typical thief player.
Or as a quote from someone translated from German:
It is only superiority of thief players that makes the class playable.
In that case condition builds can’t be too strong. Or every match would be full with condi classes. I don’t see that many condi mesmers, condi necros or warriors. My matches are full with revs, guards or thieves
If conditions are that strong why is the majority of the builds non-condition?
We could talk about removing cannons, when Anet finally makes walls good. It’s easier for the attacker to clear the walls as for a defender to hold them. That’s a bad concept for a siege environment.
The new cannons aren’t a bad thing. They are of limited use because of the line of sight, but they are good for specific situations.
I find thieves far more disgusting because of their limitless mobility combined with damage and stealth
I know what your talking about, thieves are very annoying, but they also are very fragile. Anyone who is AoE heavy has a significant advantage against them.
Fragile is a big word for a thief. If you don’t kitten up at least three to four times in a row or fight more than two people you are not fragile as a thief.
Thief is by far better for roaming than a warrior. Warrior tanks more with the right set of runes but thief is by far more annoying.
And it doesn’t matter if you run condi thief or power because both are pretty strong with tons of evade/avoid, condi cleanse and escape options or possibilities to reset a fight.
I prefer running after warriors and fighting them. Why? Because they don’t stealth every few seconds to reset and force me into a permanent defensive playstyle.
I find thieves far more disgusting because of their limitless mobility combined with damage and stealth
What is “working fine”. At the moment it’s “one server has huge NA and is winning NA timezone” and “the other server has OCX and is winning OCX”. In the end the scores are close but no one had a good match.
JQ is always doing pretty well on reset and with TW as “new” guild even better in the first hours.
EU is still dead and we fight with 15 against tc (which have a 40+ queue for EB), on OCX there is no competition, on SEA there is Cloud Fly with a bunch of pugs (don’t know how good their fights are)
And that’s not different to many other servers. So how is it “working fine”? To get the links working Anet should stop the transfering by making them more expensive and limiting them to one transfer per 3-6 month and get f2p accounts out of wvw before hitting 80.
Meanwhile you should give wvw players something to keep them playing. Like a reworked “outnumbered” buff. And while on it, give people a reason to transfer to low population servers like the buff in warhammer – but exclusively for wvw.
(edited by gebrechen.5643)
What I observed in the couple of months I spent on JQ is that your server lives and dies depending on if you have a pugmander running. When Cloudfly was spamming team chat with his annoying stars you would have a huge blob k-training alongside him.
Ok, so you are one of the guys lurking on an server in your matchup do kitten there?
I forgot something:
Classes didn’t have passive “oh kitten – traits” in general there weren’t that many ridiculous passive in the game.
All that stuff combined killed roaming for most people and makes finding a “good roamer” almost impossible.
Roaming is pretty much dead since there are so many cheese builds with low to no risk playing it.
That’s been the case since launch so by your definition, roaming has always been pretty dead.
Nope, it hasn’t. You had a lot more viable builds, the damage was way down before the ascended/legendary era and not everyone ran a meta build (because there were other working builds out there)
You had a lot more people going solo while today most people need support from their two groups of friends.
Or, JQ has accumulated the most alt/spy accounts? That enemy players have placed their numerous extra accounts on JQ to the point of it diluting JQ’s WvW population. It’s easy to run an alt into WvW for the daily and be counted as a “wvw player”. I bet if Anet looks, JQ has the highest population of low activity players. Those players are most likely not loyal to JQ and their main account is on an enemy server.
This is imho a big problem too. I have never seen so many people that have never been in wvw before and just there for trolling and talking kitten on the borderlands.
At the moment they mostly troll TW with fake siege or flames on the team chat.
I wish we could get some attention from Anet with that problem.
Finally working on a good ticket and ban system could help a lot.
(edited by gebrechen.5643)
Roaming is pretty much dead since there are so many cheese builds with low to no risk playing it.
JQ has no EU and only has 1 ocx guild now as opposed to TCs 3-4 that run during ocx.
This sums it up pretty good. Until TW transfered over my main timezone (EU 18:00 – 00:00) was empty. By empty I mean outnumbered on all borderlands with 10-15 guys on EB.
On saturday I got into wvw early and all borderlands were empty, but EB was queued with 20-40 people (because the only active commander was in EB) and that pretty much sums up the “action” from early EU to early NA.
Even NSP&friends had more people online in EU while TC was karma-training the weekend.
Just limit transfers to once per 3 month and make them more expensive to balance things out. And finally rework the outnumbered buff to be useful
How are conditions uncontrollable when most of the viable builds are pure power builds?
Haha, because power builds rely heavily on skill? Warrior, Druid, Thief.. yeah, totally related to “skill”
Breaking the Tier 1 ceiling does not equate to the destruction of ones community. A server falling out of Tier 1 does not equate to that servers destruction.
I remember you saying that you hope JQ going down to tier 2 would lead to transfers from JQ SEA to another server. (somewhere on cancer forums) So basically the statement above is a lie or you have real trouble with your memory.
Meanwhile OnS never transfered somewhere alone, you always took guilds with you or players from other servers.
And the statement about TW saving JQ is stupid. Yes, they brought Commanders to NA, but they made a lot of people quit wvw with their stupid behaviour. TW was one of the reasons some NA guilds didn’t show up again. There was a lot of kitten talking on TS when TW was online. I don’t blame Indo, because I think he is an “ok” guy, but he isn’t TW. TW never cared for a server. They left JQ in the beginning and went to SoR, they left SoR while blaming the random players not being good enough. TW has no home, they go where they think it’s best for their guild. That’s totally ok with me, but that’s not the same as “saving a server”, this statement gets even more stupid when you recruit on JQ and leave to the new bandwagon TC a week later.
If JQ goes down, it’s ok, we don’t need someone who decides to “save our server” because he thinks it’s best for us.
tldr: You are not my president or my mom. So play your politic games elsewhere and take your head out of your kitten and start breathing again.
Blaming everything on 2 guilds is a bit ridiculous, especially since OnS raids for only like 2 hours. And TW lol, well they do what they do, this is like the 6th server they have been on since I came to BG over a year and a half ago so don’t act surprised that they server hop for whatever reason. I personally like fighting these guilds so I don’t have a problem with them being on an opposing server, at least they don’t siege-bunker all day.
No, it isn’t. OnS started the stupid “let’s jump on a server to stack it – thing”. You may correct me, but they were one, not the only one, reason that BG was so stacked in season 1 and still recruiting over the years". I’m not sure what happened on BG which made OnS starting to hate the rest of BG, but they, Mal in particular, tried to get another server to fight bg and beat them. They transfered a lot, they opened a guild for alts on others servers and they started recruiting for another stacked server.
Which worked pretty good on YB, because YB wanted to go into tier 1.
After realising that YB is not more of a karma train population then any other server around they needed to start over and a server that declined their idea before (TC) was the new target for the transfer and recruiting.
So, basically the statement was correct. The whole mess started because a few guilds started recruiting for “a better tier one” without even knowing how that could look like.
I really like what happened. Tier 1 is fine for me. BG rolls over the siege and karma trains from YB while TC with it’s new transfers is stuck in between while we on JQ have good fights against DB and FA without having to deal with tons of arrow carts.
to clarify: OnS isn’t a good or really active guild or something, but their recruiting is good and that’s the point here. People transfers when they think they can achieve things – like “killing the full stacked BG” or “winning the useless ppt game”
(edited by gebrechen.5643)
The matchmaking is a terrible mess. Matches are still one-sided. If you have one match out of ten that doesn’t end with a 300+ difference in points it’s considered a lucky day.
It’s the same kitten we had in S2.
They really have to reset all MMR to zero after a season ends, everyone starts at the bottom and fix the matchmaking.
Separate groups from solo players and stop throwing people who lost 1 to x matches in a group and put them against people who won their last x matches.
That worked way better before HoT or even in S1.
Because no one likes “running from everyone to hide behind siege” aka YB
Wait, isn’t TC in Tier 1 to fight BG? All this transfering to TC happened just for this cause and now they hide?
I disagree
Sure you disagree. Your guild has seen more servers then most people have seen their family in the last years.
What Anet could do is making transfers to small servers cheaper, while making them much more expensive to full servers. Meanwhile they have to decrease the map caps for every server to create queues which force players which want to wvw to look elsewhere.
Will players stop playing? Of course, no one likes queues.
Will someone miss those players? I don’t think so.
The smart ones will sooner or later transfer to servers without queues and the servers will be much more balanced.
After that you still can increase the maps again and link servers and at the same time close every server for transfer until a re-linking is necessary.
Drop them on point, drop them on people in down state. The gameplay is so skill based like nothing else in this game.
Nobody is responsible if legendary players stop playing but legendary players. Either you pvp for fun and get to legendary or you do it for “look I’m legendary” or something. You don’t need to design the game around that kind of players.
There are balance problems, but neither necro, nor warrior are the really fotm classes.
Experiencing the exact same problem since today. It started with really bad pings in the morning, now I constantly getting disconnected in Queensdale with the error.
My fps are mostly ok, but my ping jumps from ~100ms to 600ms+ which makes the game absolutely unplayable.
You got what you wanted. YB wanted into Tier 1, TC wanted into Tier 1 to beat BG and because of the egos of some guys. Have fun in your matchup and more fun by getting farmed by BG!
edit: T.1 is kitten?
(edited by gebrechen.5643)
Impossible to play at the moment. Ping is going up from 160 to 600 or 2000 in wvw and pvp.
thieves die…ALL the time
if they’re as op as you say
you’d see a d/d thief on every team in the proleague, you know, the players who actually know how this game works
let me know when you find ONE d/d dodge thief in the proleague and we’ll talk about itEdit: also, if they’re as op as you say
people would ask them to swap when they see more than 1 thief on a team
but guess what?
people rage when thieves don’t swap
Pro league is were the balancing takes place? You mean we balance pvp around the top 1% of the players? That would be ridiculously stupid, because we all know that the pros go for optimized setups and are able to choose their builds before the matches and can make things work. That doesn’t work in pvp. You will get random players into your group playing not the best builds and you will never have a whole fotm setup. So it makes absolutely no sense to balance on the 1% which never ever happens out of pro league.
I see scrappers die, I see mesmers die, I see warriors die which based on your logic makes non of these op or too strong in a single aspect.
This makes tuning of skills from any class necessary. And the fact that you have a skill that makes you evade while dealing damage (3 bleeding stacks) for a pretty low cost of your resource (4 Initiative) very good. That’s 7 seconds of evade if you totally waste that skill with ~10 stacks of bleeding – while regenerating initiative.
So, why shouldn’t we either get back to 5 initiative costs or cut the bleed to 2 or take some damage off the skill?
Because no thief plays it in Pro League?
edit: And I know thief players are the most kitten in this game, while they still are one of the most played classes since release while any other was nerfed into oblivion at least once.
(edited by gebrechen.5643)
You haven’t realized yet that killing him is not the point of the game?
So if killing him isn’t point of the game why were bunkers nerfed?
thieves have down time in between evades lol…it runs out at somepoint
sighplay couple high end games, no one complaints about thief dodges there
not high end,
even mid tier people won’t complain about that
That downtime is too low. You won’t kill him in that short time window and the sacrifice for the evade is not high enough. You should either do damage which costs energy or evade which costs energy – not both while regenerating energy.
I still wonder why someone complains about warriors without even mentioning Scrapper or Revenant.
Thief is actually pretty bad at 1v1 roaming. Most thieves run full zerk build and rely on deleting you on their first opening. After that, they can only run and reset. Also, its very unlikely to delete roamers unless they are bad or run bad builds, so no, not op.
So what you say is that he can reset the fight if everything goes wrong. And he can do this three to four times while his opponent can’t.
So yes, thief is pretty strong in roaming due to his abilities to reset fights, escape fights and the damage he deals – more than any other class in wvw.
Nerf runes with healing or get rid of them
Anet could finally start banning for flame or misbehaviour. Make it like matchmaking bans in CSGO. Make the ban stack until the kids learn.
Wait, fighting for a reward makes people toxic?
People who can’t behave in a game should be treated exactly as they are treated in rl. If someone thinks it’s ok to insult someone he should get punished.
There is no a reason for being a kitten in a game and there never will be.
It will be very unlikely that you can make a video of that when the enemy ports into your bay. The only way would be to have someone sitting in bay forever and just waiting such things to happen. And even if you have it on video Anet won’t ban for this.
It seems there is another possible glitch into garrison. At least we know who is responsible for this in our matchup.
(edited by gebrechen.5643)
Wait.. that would explain how we lost bay last week. Our scouts didn’t see any walls down and we had it waypointed.
And in that case we know the kitteners who exploit such things.
That sound like a great idea! Let’s ban paying customers because they’ve hurt someone’s feelings.
How about people just toughen up – realize that words don’t actually hurt if you choose to ignore them and maybe we can just go back to normal.
Don’t know where you come from. But in civilised communities it’s common sense that you be nice to each other. If your parents missed to teach you the basics of human interaction that’s bad for you, but you still may learn, right?
And you agreed to these terms by installing Guild Wars 2.
While playing Guild Wars 2, you must respect the rights of others and their rights to play and enjoy the Game. To this end, you may not defraud, harass, threaten, embarrass or cause distress and/or unwanted attention to other players. This includes posting insulting, offensive, or abusive comments about players, repeatedly sending unwanted messages, reporting players maliciously, attacking a player based on race, sexual orientation, religion, heritage, etc. Hate speech is not tolerated.
@gebrechen Ill agree that the players are kittens, but Arena Net should have seen this coming a mile away. They started pushing their game as an Esport and then blatantly dis-balanced it with HoT. Anybody who’s played any MOBAs or any competitive game should have been aware what kinda behavior comes along with it. They then made the game F2P and put heavy ingame monetary rewards with progressing along PvP. Add on how troublesome it is to report unsportsmanlike behavior and tada~
Its the perfect storm
And that’s why good companies ban people for that behaviour. It’s even easier in a game without a sub fee.
Overwatch won’t be a balanced game and it will be full with cheaters and hackers. Why? Because it’s Blizzard. They never had a game with good balance and without cheaters running wild.
2. He is wrong to be upset with his team which is upset and “toxic” simply because Anet decided to make things the way they are – if he wants to be mad and upset he should direct that at Anet.
2. Wrong. He should report his team mates to Anet, because they are the ones with the disgusting behaviour. It’s nor Anet, neither the players fault, when people get angry because he plays a build thats not popular.
Don’t blame the victim.
This isn’t LoL and your behaviour isn’t wanted here. Take your unfriendly behaviour else where.
Anet could do everyone a big favour and take reports more serious.
Hey Anet, if you don’t want solo queues can you at least stop giving groups pips when fighting solo queue players?
It’s not fun at all, when you have 3 solo queue players, a 2 people group and a full group on the opposing team and you lose 1 pip while getting farmed.
And while you are at it reward a whole tier for beating a full group with randoms.
To make roaming great again, you need to get rid of the current stealth mechanics and tone the damage down to pvp standards.
We all know that won’t happen, so it would be wise to improve wvw and let roaming die.
Those of you sympathizing with the necro on this one are the single largest reason pvp in this game has done poorly. You are a toxic part of the community who would rather have a game filled with self-centered, inconsiderate tryhards than give less experienced players a break. Aside from perhaps crippling technical difficulties or other outside interruptions, there are almost no acceptable reasons to afk at the start of a match.
If you have a problem with the people you’re queued with by the game, find a team of like-minded people and party with them. Don’t clog solo-q with your gigantic egos.
Right on spot.
I wish there were some good guild groups on maguuma. All I meet is groups of 3-4 thieves or mesmers. Annoying fights.
You can mail me in game if you want and we can set up some 5’s or match numbers up to about 7 or 8. Or just look around for [tRex] on the bl’s.
We won’t get the numbers for this over the week due to work schedules. Let’s hope that Anet keeps the matchup for the next reset and I message you on the weekend.
