I wish there were some good guild groups on maguuma. All I meet is groups of 3-4 thieves or mesmers. Annoying fights.

Yeah, but Maguuma’s KDR has been top notch lately…they must be doing something right!

KDR is a a two-edged sort. You get a good KDR by either winning zerg fights which are mostly won by the zerg with greater numbers or by roaming.
Roaming today means less fighting equal groups but taking out people running back to their commander. Your KDR get’s even better with a high number of classes and builds that allow to run away even if you failed.
So, you are right in a strange way. They choose the rights build to keep a good KDR up. And that’s why so few people roam without a group size of 5+. (exception thieves and mesmers)

Was it? My memory isn’t what it used to be. I guess my main point was BG never needed to team up to win, if they in fact cared about winning.

And BG is the only server in GW2 that stacked it into oblivion. Neither SoR, nor TC, nor HoD, nor JQ, nor DB ever had the wvw population BG had. Was it in S1 when BG filled their EU (which was pretty big at that time) with Red Guard and two other EU guilds? BG is pretty good at gambling with wvw numbers and getting transfers by faking their own death.
Even after OnS, TW and all the others transfered off, they are the biggest server.

First of all, what server are you on?

Second, those populations are ONLY based on WvW population now. They’re not based on the PvE population.

If you’re in an NA server, it is “linked” with another server which people could still transfer to in order to boost your coverage.

They aren’t based on wvw population or JQ wouldn’t be full. And the problem with linked server is that you don’t know if this linking is permanent. What if they decide that your world gets linked with a new one after you transfered?

I’m not sure what to think of the new system.
But rewarding people for playing on NA timezone and penalizing every other timezone is stupid.
It was you, dear Anet, that created a 24h warzone with only two region servers in the beginning. And everyone knew that would lead to “unfairness”.

It’s not okay that the time periods with the smallest number of active players have the largest impact on the score

I don’t agree with that because it’s only half of the truth. The largest impact on the score depends only on numbers – not necessarily off-time numbers. That’s what some guild are gaming with for years now. They don’t switch servers because they want to fight equal numbers, but they want to win their fights.
Just base the “Prime time” on the percentage of players doing wvw on a server, not on population.
So if you have 5000 players on a server, and 1000 are NA, while 1200 are OCX and 1000 are EU and 1800 are SEA make the server a SEA prime time server.

Your idea will lead to further stacking NA players on one or two servers and make all efforts players from EU, OCX or SEA achieve completely useless. Your game is already almost dead, don’t kill it by disbalancing wvw more.

And while you are at it:
- make transfers finally more expensive. Transfering often should increase the costs for every new transfer. Transfers shouldnt be used to create new fotm servers
- change the system for queing maps by stopping the option to outnumber someone. Don’t let servers queue a map with 80 people, when it’s two opponents only run with 10-20 people there. That will lead to people to unstack servers quickly.
- and please, check your wvw contribution numbers on a series of week days and base all of your ideas on those numbers not on a single day in a week.

Just make players unable to target things which are not in a clear line of sight. No more staff on top of walls and no more ac shooting behind walls and trebs or cata through walls.
Walls should give an advantage to defenders.

My character went invisible on reset. I was in a fight, used some skills and my character model suddenly disappeared. NPC disappeared too, only other players were visible – and the best part was that I couldn’t jump (or did and couldn’t see) over walls or even low objects
Never happened to me before. Only thing that helped was to restart the game – which on a reset night..

That’s exactly what they all do now. They fight the same guilds over and over. But let’s be honest. It has never ever been about the fighting. That’s the biggest lie in this game. Most guilds that transfer around the world never did that because of the fighting.(maybe with the exception of some gvg guilds)

I have been on other servers where I felt like there was too much of this going on (and it was mainly in guild channels, not the main map channels) but can’t really say I heard a ton of it in JQ TS.

And that is exactly your problem. “Hey, it doesn’t work out, the people here are different, let’s switch servers”.

There are very few reasons for transfering off a server in GW2. There is not much of a difference in wvw. You can transfer as often as you want but you’ll never be happy after it. There will be always people you don’t like or don’t play the way you want them to. You can either accept that, get players like you around you and do it your way or you can pay another ridiculous amount of gems or money to find another server. It seems like you still are on option #2

That whole story reminds me of Noodles (or some guys ending up on TC now)

Actually, a lot of the people who left (and not all of us bandwagoned to YB and TC) tried to help fix the issues we were hollering about and were met with brick walls by a lot of the so-called “leaders” of JQ. And of course, as people decided they had enough and left, the crap talking about that person or guild began from these leaders instead of them stepping back and saying “hey we might have a problem here”. Meanwhile these people creating the problems are looked at as pillars of the community. It is always someone else’s problem, not ours, correct? Well now it is JQ’s problem.

These “pillars of community” are still one step ahead of you. Why? Because they are still there. How long are you in contact with human beings that you think that an online community with thousands of players works well for over many years?
JQ never had a “leadership” of any kind. JQ has a forum and ts administrator, a lot of people doing verification for both and a high number of guild leads and members.
And on JQ (as on any server or in any game) people like or dislike each other, people have different opinions, different playstyles and this doesn’t work out well all the time.
The good thing about JQ was the mostly drama free environment back in the days.
You can’t blame people for not going 8 hour raids in an online game. If you can do that, feel free to do, but don’t tell other people they have to work overtime for some totally irrelevant scoring system. No one ever said “Hey guys, you really need to play 12 hours today, because we may lose a garrison”. If you did, almost everyone told you that it was good work or at least a thanks.

I read your “statements” on JQ forums, dear TPMN. And they weren’t constructive or in any way polite and still you wondered why people didn’t react in a polite way to your childish insults? And after leaving there, you start the same here and “blame” the JQ community because you know that most of them won’t ever read the public forums.

That’s exactly what I expected after your flame war on JQ forums.

Best thing about this thread is the fact that so many of the players who left JQ for the bandwagon YB and TC are writing here about their problems with JQ while their behaviour on JQ was a big part of the problems.

To be honest. JQ’s situation got worse but it wasn’t good ever. There was a lot of talk back in the days that JQ is stacked when it wasn’t.
JQ SEA was stacked and still is, NA was never able to queue all the maps on reset (on seasons maybe) and JQ EU was almost never existent, OCX population changed a lot over the years.
The whole story about “JQ is so full” can be tracked back to seasons when BG tried to recruit more players and back to a guy who transfers around the servers with his disciples of stupidity.
Today JQ lost the majority of the NA players, while EU still isn’t existing while SEA is still strong.

I guess both sides are right.
There was a leak and Anet tried to change the pairings after the leak which ended up in a “balance wise” stupid connection of servers. I really like the people from IoJ but it’s not the server which balances the matchups.
JQ was always on full for SEA, high for OCX and medium on NA. EU was either non existent or medium. IoJ looks like a medium to high OCX/SEA community with low population on EU and NA.

JQ lost most of what was left on NA and still has a very low EU population.
YB community was destroyed by the same people that left BG and the server switching from former JQ and SoR players.
So BG looks really strong now after the new matchups which is exactly what most people having played against BG would have expected. BG always was the largest of the T1 servers and they always knew how to “manipulate” the wvw numbers by not participating and being able to get transfers that way.

What Anet really shoud consider to avoid creating new fotm servers and reward players working with the servers community is to stop transfering from accounts by making every transfer even more expensive. Make the transfer costs rise with every transfer you do and balance the servers not by “daily participation” alone.

The bandwagon was strong. Playing this game since beta and I’m on JQ since then. I still don’t understand why people transfer to the new fotm server. Especially when you pretend to “leave for fights”.

Wonder who TC fights in their matchup against FA and JQ. Both servers aren’t known (or ever were) for their huge NA or EU forces.

The good old times fighting SoR and BG will never come back. Thanks to the server hopping “flight guilds”.

The right path would be a back to the old maps, cutting siege deployment by 80%, going back to the old upgrade and camp system, no more teleports into keeps, more points for stomps and class balancing for wvw

It’s been 7 month since some guys wanted to establish a server rotation in NA tier 1.
What happened until today?

Tarnished Coast went to tier 2 and Yaks Bend went to tier 1. That was about 6 month ago.

Thanks to everyone involved in this great project. You did it! you made an already kittenty matchmaking worse and destroyed an already bad game mode while showing everyone that you are able to drop the ball more than once while still thinking you are smart.

1) groups queue against groups only, solo queue against solo only

Good luck finding anyone out there and reaching him in time if he has touched a sentry.

No, it is literally impossible. Once you flip a keep, all enemies in the keep or displayed on the map as a red dot for 5 minutes.

It’s not that hard to hide or run in this terrain for 5 minutes.

How so? You have guard that highlight the enemy on your map, scouting is easy, just different. Then again, if you think it is easy for a mesmer/thief to hide when their dot is on your minimap full time, I can see how you would think scouting makes no sense.

First of all it makes almost no sense to try to defend a keep. You won’t get a waypoint fast, so it’s not that important to keep is (while supply isn’t much of an issue anymore)
Second, even if you place siege the keeps/towers are so confusing that you can’t tell someone to refresh all the siege. Sure, that will take time, but that’s a back to the beginning, why you want to hold a keep that is easier taken than defended and hasn’t the same worth a waypointed keep had in the old maps.

Another problem for scouts is that you either need a lot of them to really see whats happening or you only scout inner which will make it almost impossible to get a defensive force inside in time without a waypoint.

Balancing could be much easier, if they finally could introduce a dynamic limit.
Which means that no server can outnumber any of the other two on a borderland.
If server a has 30 players on the map, server b has 40, than server c shouldn’t be able to have more than 50 (no fix numbers, just to get the idea) – and the numbers should be shown next to the score board and synched every x minutes (maybe an hour)
In that case no server stacking would help you achieve anything and every guild should be smart enough to decide what servers they should avoid.

To help the gvg guys, they should make OS a megaserver. If you want to gvg, go OS arena and meet guilds from all servers and no longer depending on the homeserver. it works for pve, why shouldn’t it work for an additional map that has no other use except GvG and ganking?

- too much space for roaming
- no ruins with bloodlust

I’m not sure about the numbers, but he isn’t totally wrong either.

with cA and Fug leaving there won’t be much SEA timezone left on JQ, while BG still has a large force in that timezone. And I don’t know where cA and Fug go, but when they join YB it will be whole different story.
JQ is almost empty in NA again and can’t recruit any players, while both YB and BG always had 2 or 3 times the numbers.

I still wonder how Anets system of “let’s count wvw population” works, but it doesn’t seem to work at all, when YB and BG are on “high” status.

You get “invulnerable” against a lot of classes. I tried to corrupt a mesmers boons and nothing happened besides of that “invulnerable” message. Not sure what other buffs he had up, but it was 3 boons on him and nothing that should interupt my skill.

.. Some new gamemodes. Right now OP and UP are mostly judged on the build’s performance in Conquest. Even in WvW you can build for different types of gameplay: solo roaming, small groups, or zerging. An “op” group build may not work in solo. A solo build usually cant zerg, ect. Makes for much more diversity.

Fighting on-point is fun and all, but is there anything coming down the line that’ll switch things up? No, I don’t mean stronghold. I mean PvP without the overreliance on NPCs.

Capture the flag, 3v3 arenas, 1v1 arenas… anything?

The same builds that are op in pvp are more op in wvw.

Roaming groups at the moment are compositions of pu mesmer with perplexity runes and d/d ele (sometimes they carry a warrior or thief around, but mesmers and ele have multiplied)

Who talks about 17 stacks? Even 4 stacks on you are terrible and you often don’t have the choice to not cross a fire field.
And eles deal good damage even without burning. So, what’s the strategy, let the eles de/cap the point?

D/D ele is way too good atm. They nerfed rampage for a good reason, they need to nerf ele and mesmer now too.

Why is it so hard to punish people leaving ranked matches? It’s annoying for both teams if someone on one team decides he can no longer play because his mom called, the ice cream truck is coming or anything else like this.

Just take a look at counterstrike and copy their system.

for GW2
- you have a disconnect, you have 2 minutes to rejoin the game.
- if you don’t rejoin the game in this 2 minutes you get a ban that stacks if you keep leaving games early

1st time (in a week): 1 day no ranked for you
2nd time (in a week) 3 days no ranked for you
3rd time (in a week) no ranked for you this and the coming week

It’s so easy and it would at least make those stupid 4v5, 3v5 matches less likely

Love that feedback: “bring condi cleanse, problem solved”

As if building your spec completely around condi cleanse was somehow a good idea in a conquest match.

it might be a good idea if you spend most of your time dying to burns.

The only good solution is to stop a tanky build like d/d ele from stacking burns like this. Try to bring more condition cleanse into a build means losing much damage in your team and you will most likely getting out damaged because of that.

Well according to all mesmers on the forum they are just fine. Slighty underpowered if you ask them :P

I played my mesmer this weekend in wvw. Standard PU with Perplexity Runes. So, yeah, let them talk.

The main problem i see with thieves is that they have too much options for resetting a fight. It’s to rewarding to fight with blinds, shadow step and perma stealth.
That should have been reworked a long time ago.

Another problem which isn’t that big but still annoying is the option to gain stealth by hitting walls and that makes thief hunting inside towers or keeps pretty boring.

PU Mesmers are stupidly op for 1v1 atm, especially with perplexity runes.

I wish everyone good luck with that “project” and i’m curious what will happen but I don’t think it will work.
Sure, you can get a server to T1 with a lot of transfers, but after that there are not many things that can happen.
It’s either getting a server where tons of people will transfer to (including fanboys, karma train people and all the others) and one of the other servers will go down
or
it’s dropping again because the “project” didn’t work out and it may lead to the end of the server.

We had this happening in GW2 – remember HoD, and SoR

Dear Anet, you should finally penalize quitting from matches. In ranked and unranked. If someone quits, ban him from spvp for an hour, if he quits another match within a day, ban him from spvp for a day, if he quits a third match in a week, ban him for a week.

There are no legitimate reasons to quit a match which happen twice in a normal gamers life.

Add much better rewards to ranked and incentive people to form teams… Being on the LB righ tnow is shameful.

That won’t stay that way if you meet the premades in unranked, I mostly queue solo in unranked and got a lot of really bad games the last days against terrible premades with at least two bunkers.

I haven’t come across any lag in T1 or 2, roaming for blobbing, that proved to be crippling to gameplay. There was some a couple of days ago for a little while in a 3 way map queue fight but it was nothing more than weird minor lag that didn’t really stop me from doing what I needed to do.

tldr: As long as it doesn’t affect myself it is not a problem at all.

Thieves are weak 1v1 except vs shatter mesmers. Even then a dble ranged shatter mesmer can win if he’s not taken by surprise

Burn Bug

Something is completely wrong at the moment. I don’t know if it’s burn exclusively or conditions in general. But I got almost oneshot by a guardian after his initial charge – as a warrior with almost 30k hp in wvw.

edit: To clarify. I dodged the charge, got the burn and 1 hit after.
