Seriously, what can we do?

I’m a new player to sPvP, and while I’m a seasoned WvW player I am pretty kitten at PvP.

I shouldn’t have to have people kitten talk me an entire match because I was not assisting in stomping someone down.

I’ve heard reporting people has no effect, and it’s getting pretty ridicules that it’s expected nothing will be done about it.

There was even a case on reddit about someone being sexually harassed on several occasions and nothing being done about it when the person reported it.

So what’s the deal, when can we expect some better moderation?

Should just covert 1 condition to a fixed boon, like swiftness.

Yeah.. I played DAOC for many years. Still consider it one of the best games out there for large scale open world PVP. It’s terrain allowed for different tactics depending on which zone one was fighting in.

I don’t understand why we don’t see a DAOC clone these days

Yep. The transfer mechanism has basically given prizes to people for transferring onto the highest ranked free server and screwed over those who stayed; all in all a very odd decision.

I don’t care about the prizes, I just want even, fun fights. When the opposing team has enough players to send 20+ people to a 5 man taking camps, and can respond anywhere on the map within minutes it becomes super lame.

They don’t hate small man’s, they just refuse to change their philosophy on WvW

No one really knows where WvW is headed, I think short of a total rework there’s not much they can do to support the longevity for the hardcore players.

WvW is amazing fun when it works and you’ve got an even match with populations, but it’s so rare to get this.

There is little feeling of victory or progression in Wvw.

That is a big reason in addition to what the OP said that people are loosing interest.

I can spend 1hr In PvE content and get 10x’s the rewards of spending 1 day in wvw.

Blob fighting is another issue. The current system in place promotes zerg play to much as well.

There are my personal issues but as I said I have been much less active in the forums and games lately.

Because all you have to do is spam #1 with 150 people and destroy smaller coordinated groups because of the AOE caps/skill lag. There is no victory feeling because it takes 0 skill to win a fight in WvW. God I miss Dark Age of Camelot, you think with all the new technology coming out MMOs would be getting better not worse. Instead of adding new maps for WvW maybe fix the current maps we already have cough skill lag cough zerging cough

No skill? Once try with an organized 20 men team against the 100 zergball red sea. You will win within 20 seconds if you all have skills.

Highly unlikely, unless you’re playing vs a very disorganized zerg with a ton of up leveled people, but the reality is that these huge zergs are usually very organized.

They run proper builds and know when to use correct skills. It’s a numbers game, whoever has more numbers wins.

Let me just say I stopped playing after the last tournament and am just now logging in again after about 4 months away. When I found out they did this I felt like they just didn’t give a kitten about WvW.

Game would be better if they combined all the borderlands into one massive map, preventing huge zergs from responding to a 5 man team capturing a tower and basically making the came not fun for the small-fry.

The maps are too small, it’s way to easy for a zerg to respond to anywhere on the map within minutes.

Look, I’m feeling pretty discouraged with where World Vs. World is right now.

I think it would be beneficial for Anet and the WvW community if a road map of future content was added, rather than random replies hinting at things they would like to do in the future.

Give players something to hope for, because I’m running on fumes and I need some fuel to keep me in the game.

So who’s bright idea was it to offer transfers a few weeks before the tournament? You’ve basically thrown all the rank information gained during the off season out the window and because of this some of the matches are incredibly unbalanced.

If you want to keep a WvW community you need to gain some credibility, not toss it out the door.

Honestly expected more hate for my post, glad to see a few people agree. I just wish there was more incentive for people to WvW. Having a high pop server with a low WvW pop sucks.

Pretty awesome how many people hate a rank 8 server.

This is metagaming, pure and simple. Establishing alliances and agreements outside of the game itself isn’t prohibited under any terms of use. It will however, destroy the only aspect of GW2 that keeps me playing.

Fortunately or unfortunately depending on your point of view, the SBI community is reluctant to get involved in such alliances and skew a match in it’s favour which means it will be continuously defeated by those who do despite having some very talented commanders and committed WvW players. But I’m a realist who played EVE for six years and knows that the metagame is all when it comes to winning.

Oddly enough, if I was amongst the influential and respected members of the SBI community, I would be establishing the type of network of spies, informers, intelligence assets, saboteurs and temporary alliances that Goonswarm had in EVE online when I used to play. But I’m not, and strangely enough I’m proud of the stance they’re taking in all of this.

Let the other servers finesse their way up the ladder into the gold league, because when we were up against these servers before these alliances were being formed, SBI ended the week with close to a 100K point lead over our nearest rival. Imagine what is going to happen to these servers when they’re part of the top tier.

It’ll not be pretty.

Imagine playing WvW, except the enemy has twice as many people as you and your side doesn’t get to use supply. That is this week for SBI.

I don’t usually request to join parties after people kill me, but I have been this week. I usually say something like “We have 15 ppt, please stop griefing and double-teaming us.” They say, “lol no.”

Please stop defending these two servers. You may not be one of the guilty parties, but it makes no sense to defend stuff like this.

So what you are asking for is the same mercy you showed us on EBay in week 2 of leagues where you won by 300k, relentlessly farmed and spawn camped us in our own BL and told us on the forums we should be grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from the godlike WvW tactics machine that is SBI? Gotcha.

Neither Yaks or EBay is defending the griefers. But we both have people on our servers chewing through supply in our keeps and running golems off of cliffs day and night. Go to the matchup thread and see how many pics have been posted by the other servers too complaining about this. Playing the victim after being one of the most generally abusive and condescending servers we’ve ever faced just isn’t going to fly.

Because judging a server by what people say on the official forum is the proper way to go about it. Are you an imbecile?

Actually SBI has kittenty coverage, what we do have is a few hardcore players that stay up till 3 am.

Yaks has better day coverage than SBI and I think things would have been a pretty fair fight had they not decided to make Ehmery Bay bend over for them this week.

I think the SBI WvW community decided a long time ago not to work directly with other servers to achieve a victory because it’s just cheesy and really doesn’t help the server grow.

So we learned this week that if two servers team up they can effectively beat one server.

Math.

Hasn’t Yaks lost two matches this season? Won’t SBI and Yaks be tied since we beat them already?

This has been the best matchup and most fun in several weeks. Beating up on servers that can’t field as many gets boring, so I’m glad that Yaks and their little brother showed up in force this week.

Those on SBI complaining about the 2v1 really need to get over it. This is how its supposed to happen when you have 3 competing forces. Be flattered, and chalk it up to lessens learned. And finally enjoy someone to fight and all the bags.

Love the fighting, hate the griefing going on though.

I think SBI will place 2nd, especially with Ehmry refusing to put any kind of real preasure on Yaks. Those are a lot of PPT the server is missing out on.

No. Just give me a big empty battlefield I can wreck faces on without needing to worry about capturing points.

So much griefing going on, it’s getting out of hand.

I lost 8 omega golems to one player today, he took them into the water and let sharks kill them.

We couldn’t upgrade a keep because someone kept building catapults under supply huts the minute supply was put into them.

Enough is enough, just play legit and let’s see who comes out on top.

I’ve been WvW since release, and I’ve never seen two servers cooperate as much as Ebay and Yaks are during this match up.

Kudos for the strategy, but it’s a bit despicable when it’s so obvious.

If you’re a commander and you go AFK in WvW or PvE you’re not a good commander period.

C’mon! It’s been over a year and we’re still missing out on some animated emotes!

Please give us a /chicken so I can taunt cowards within towers in WvW!

First thing I want to say is FA talks more trash on these forums than any other sever we’ve faced in the last five weeks, congratulations.

Now onto my unbiased comments about Fort Aspenwood. Your server has amazing coverage, I honestly believe Sanctum of Rall had less people defending and havocing last week than you guys do currently.

You’ve got some very organize havoc groups, and you also have dedicated players willing to scout, refresh, and camp ruins. You also have some great open field commanders. You’ve kicked our kitten several times during the week but it’s difficult to honestly evaluate open field battles in a fair-minded manner, I feel at peak hours, when each server had a proper stack it was pretty evenly matched, but this is just from my experience.

Now let’s look at some empirical data!

SBI was ranked 14 seven weeks ago, and through community building and some helpful transfers we were able to rise to rank 8 before the seasons began. http://mos.millenium.org/servers/history/31

FA was rank 5 seven weeks ago, and remained rank 5 for 9 total weeks before dropping to rank 6 the final week before the season started. http://mos.millenium.org/servers/history/39

Now let’s take a look at the point system behind WvW. Assuming that the Glicko 2 rating system is still being used, the current standings for this week’s matchup are as followed.

Dragonbrand: 141 691 (+ 61 297)
Fort Aspenwood: 244 327 (- 41 339)
Stormbluff Isle: 202 988 (+ 41 339)

Now does any of this really matter? What does it really mean? To be honest I don’t really know! I just thought it was interesting.

clearly neither of you are on FA.
we wanted gold league. we went hard in the last week but we couldnt get it.
now our focus is rebuilding in silver league for 7 weeks, training up our pve’ers and taking back our spot in gold.

also, FA will win these leagues, and its not because of superior numbers. SBI and DB you guys have just as many as us. we just have more experience. been fighting t1 servers for months. i dont expect it to be easy, because every silver league server will be aiming at FA and SBI in every matchup.

We have just as many as you do? You have 30+ defending every map at the moment and we can’t even manage to get a queue on any of them.

I would hate fighting for a server that purposely tanked their ratings so they could sneak into a lower tier, have some balls please.

Sorry but just because one guild on SBI decided to work with SoR in their decision to not attack our borderlands does not mean SBI is working hand in hand with the enemy.

One guild does not equal an entire server decision, especially when the majority of our player base is working during the day.

SoR decided to roll with this behavior. If you look at the SBI forum post screen shots provided you can see that the majority of people don’t really encourage it.

Congratulations to ToR for having such a kitten for WvW that it’s actually becoming boring!

To all the people calling SBI a band wagon server, you sound like you’re having a rough day…

People coming to SBI took a risk on a rank 12 server, and it paid off.

To the SoR who defended SBI garrison from around 11 to 1 am eastern on Saturday night.

The open field battle in front of garrison that lasted an hour and a half was the most fun I have had in WvW in the last 3-4 months. It was fun to be evenly matched for a brief moment, and I felt the fight swung both ways at different moments during the night.

We had decided to try an open field treb and the risk paid off, but I had not considered how much fun it would have resulted in.

Hello Magnetron, I completely understand where you are coming from…

I’ve played on SBI since release day, and early on during release we were ranked number two in WvW for consecutive weeks, but then we had the majority of our large guilds leave and over the course of a year we fell to rank 15.

I had come to the forums complaining on the same thing. Population balance is the number one flaw with the mechanics of WvW.

Fortunately for me, our server started a recruitment campaign, and through a lot of late nights and hard work we’ve been able to attract some skilled players and great guilds to our server.

Over the last six weeks our server has gone from rank 12 to rank 9, and it’s unfortunate that the only way it was possible was by recruitment.

The short version is that WvW will always be about population coverage. Until the developers realize this and place some type of handicap into the game players will continue to suffer.

I wish you and your server the best of luck, and I totally understand your strife.
