I spent 8 hours attacking BP’s borderlands. We had some truly epic fights. The hills battle on the bridge was amazing! We were also getting spawn camped by AV.
I wish we could get more people on SBI into WvWvW, it’s 4 am here and we would be lucky if we could fill a full map.
SBI commander here. I enjoy our match ups, they are a lot if fun, but what are you doing?
I watched a 40 man group spawn camp SBI in a borderland for two hours tonight when we were trying to take hills from BP.
We even captured the BP tier 3 tower in your spawn corner in hopes you could get a foothold on the map, but you guys decided to completely ignore camps/towers. A few of you even /cheered from the rock.
It’s pretty difficult to beat BP if there’s no presence on their BL, so why show up and not take anything?
I’m not torn between real life and this game, but I have a right to complain about missing out on something I had been looking forward to.
Especially since I really wanted that hat.
I just don’t agree with offering limited rewards that require you to be on at a specific time during a 3 day period, which happened to be a weekend where post people choose to spend time with family.
I was busy all last week, and was really looking forward to the event. I figured since we had seen no other events with these types of “requirements” that I would be safe not logging on, as I would have plenty of time to catch up over the next couple weeks.
Guess I got defecated on with my presumptions.
No offense, but offering a limited showing for 3 days of an event that lasts almost an entire month is absolute trash.
Many of us play video games to get away from reality and for a break from things that tie up our time, and when I found out today that I was “too late” to watch the in game fireworks display I was seriously kitten ed.
I’ve spent around 200$ “supporting” Anet with the purchase of items and gems, but limiting an event to a few days is certainly not what I was hoping for.
Furthermore I saw no kind of message stating that this event would be offered for a limited time.
Anyone ells seriously upset they missed out?

Because RNG. Rewarding a lucky few to make a profit on the BLTP would be bull crap.
Awesome fights on Anvil BL! We had some epic 40+ on 40+ fights!
I feel like there are only a few really good specs and traits for warriors, all the other traits just don’t bring enough to the table for them to really be effective.
Reviver’s might is joke, it’s something that’s been horrible since beta and I think it’s just been overlooked, which says a lot about why warriors have so many woes right now.
I always see her sitting around Meddler’s Waypoint at cursed shore. She is a champion but she never fights.
She looks pretty amazing too.
If you talk to her she complains about how everything is to easy around there.
Warriors as tanks are in a sad place :\
Could you translate this build into a WvW build please?
Whats your spec and gear like?
I would love to see some consumables added into the WvW maps though. They are just so fun to use and you never really see anyone play with them because PvE is so easy most of the time.
LOVE IT.
Sometimes it just takes a developer to say, “Yes we know there are some flaws, we are looking to adjust them” to put everything to rest.
But that’s why balling up is good, it’s difficult to tell if there are more than 20 in a group with the huge red cluster of text.
I really wish they had collision boxes.
Is his shield supposed to activate immediately after hitting a mine? Because I’m noticing it instantly resetting after it goes down…
Which makes it a real pain trying to help people get the achievement.
Where was Magummy bear over the weekend? I feel like they are out in force tonight (Monday, eastern time zone).
There really is no way to fix the system. The only thing you can do if you really want to compete is transfer to the servers that have the numbers, or campaign harder than an American politician to get more guilds that WvW on your server.
As a competitive player, this break my heart.
Give us a better point system, the current one is ridicules. Ticking for 600+ points for hours on end when there are no enemies on a map is the most silly idea I’ve ever heard in a game.
There should be a point decay over time, based on how long you’ve been holding an objective that also takes into account the % of enemies on the map at a given time.
Knowing that an enemy is getting full points because I’m not prioritizing taking camps/tower at the same time by dividing my forces would make me reluctant to take things one by one in a large zerg and instead force people to defend camps and split forces.
I also think kills should be tallied into the score.

The whole system is broken, a good design wouldn’t alienate thousands of people simply because they can’t field a good WvW population.
There are so many people who won’t and ever step a foot into World vs. World because of what’s going on right now.
That games not even a year old and the WvW population is half of what it was at launch on many servers.
Someone make a petition to rename WvW to Coverage Vs. Coverage…
Sure, just let me quick my job and my family so I can be on 24/7 because I play on a server with very view night coverage….
So whats your wish for wvw????
I know mine is
1) stop the one hit on keep doors to contest them
2) Buff to Thief’s Stealth
3) new bigger mapshope you all share your wish list maybe the devs might add some of them into the game in the near future
cheers
Buff to Thief stealth? Are you serious? I can never, ever catch a Thief one vs. one.
I won’t rest till I have some variation of the most beautiful armor ever made, and by that I’m speaking of samurai armor with a fantasy twist.
The score system and smaller maps don’t do anything to prevent Zerg tactics.
There is little reason to split your forces up if you have that big Zerg pushing around the map, with the scores only being ticked every 15 minutes and the ability to respond to any area on the map in less than 5 minutes there’s really no point in dividing forces if you’ve got a massive WvW population.
On the other hand, if you don’t have the numbers you’re forced to split up and multicap if you want to try and compete, and you end up running into the huge enemy Zerg a lot more.
The system works, but it could be more tactical.
D|ERP
The | is bothering me. What’s that there for?
Have you ever tried to say kitten without it? No? Try it! kitten kitten kitten kitten .
kitten
Whoa…is D|ERP a bad word? I’ve been using that in public for the last couple of years…

This is why I wish the maps were a bit larger. If your forced to spread your forces across a complete map to control everything it gives smaller forces a better chance in claiming little areas and feeling like they have an impact.
They should start taking kills in the open field into account.
I suggest you join the SBI server website and join us on teamspeak. SBI is competitive, but we just don’t have the numbers we used to have.
SBI has one of the best server communities, but we still haven’t recovered from the mass exodus of WvW guilds several months ago.
WvW is Coverage vs. Coverage, the big mighty pvp guilds left this game ages ago because they figured this out.
Coverage vs. tactics. Coverage wins.
If they don’t see an issue with night capping just let us play the US servers play the EU servers. That should work…..
:P
So how are arrow cars over powered right now? That void all defensive siege way too easily. And at the moment are highly exploitable.
They punish small groups and reward massive zergs.
While it might be easy for a few to defend a keep know, that’s how it should be. It’s a defensive structure. The fact that they are so good at taking out defensive siege is the real problem.

I agree with some of the above post, NA is for NA players, EU is for EU players etc etc. This crossing of the timezones really screwed WvW up big time. ANET sould haven known the kind of dmg this system was going to cause for people who want to pvp. I think its common sense tht not every single NA server will have massive “nightcappers” as a few do. This lastest random matchup switch kinda shows anet is running out of ideas to keep WvW going. I feel this was one of their last plans to see if WvW will bring ppl back or keep them around and judging by some of the threads/post in matchup threads its doing the complete opposite
I feel you are right, but I hope you are wrong…
They should just start redesigning WvW for the expansion, divide the servers into factions and make the maps larger, or just divide PvE servers from WvW servers all together.
The system is flawed from the bottom up because of this. If you want to compete in WvW you need to have a high populated WvW population at all times of the day/night.
You shouldn’t have to recruit and campaign your server in hopes of getting that big guild for coverage, WvW does not have the amount of depth to revolve around this. It’s not EVE online. It’s a small map where zerg tactics rule the day. There is no tactical risk to sending your entire zerg to one location because they can easily be across the map in a matter of minutes.
WvW in GW2 is not a continuous world, the maps are so small that a high populated server can respond within minutes to any threat. There are very few tactical situation where a small force can defeat an enemy ratio of 3:1, even less so with how ridicules arrow carts are at assaulting a tower.
It’s not a kittening real war, it’s a game, and any game designer will tell you that it’s fundamentally flawed in it’s current state.

I love my SBI devs.
Shout out to Izzy if you read this!
Are SENT still on SBI? if so do they play WvW?
What about CaLM?
I’d like to fight them too.
I know CaLM is still there, they are a big ally of KT.
Add DF type dungeon
A lot of people are hoping they have this in development. DaoC had a good system.
Using such a precise system is silly when WvW is so unbalanced because of WvW timezone populations.
Just keep it simple.
Just make it like beer pong!
This is a big issue because the WvW system requires you field a high WvW population if you want to compete with higher tiers.
It’s hard enough getting new players involved in WvW when there are no unique incentives.
The best thing Anet could have done is not allow server transfers in the first place. It’s the reason WvW is such a kitten storm to begin with.
Not going to lie, I play this game for the WvW, and I’m really discouraged by how Anet has handled it.
You mean the armor models that 90% are already available in PvE? And all the rings that you can get a lot more easily in PvE?
And this new system does nothing to to entice new players to come onto WvW, which is what’s required if you want to win.
The fact that the system requires you to make an honest effort to recruit guilds from other time zones if you want to compete is a joke too.
Half the time I feel like I’m running a glob dang political campaign in hopes of getting a server to join us just so we can compete in WvW.
The system should have divided servers into an alliance, so 3 server per alliance, which would help maximize WvW population.
I also feel the maps should have been inherently larger. This would allow small forced to have an impact without needing to worry about the massive zerg responding in a matter of minutes.
The fact that you can be anywhere on the map within a few minutes is a joke and really limits the impact a small group of players can have at times.
Tactics are important, skill is even more important, but if you don’t have the population to commit to WvW you don’t have a chance competing against a server that does.
Does anyone ells feel like this is the big elephant in the room that Anet refuses to address?
What would you do to fix it?
Did SBI have a meeting to post as many threads on the forum as possible?
Seems like everytime I refresh someone’s put up a new thread about this match from SBI
I think a lot of people on SBI were really looking forward to having a good fair opponent. For the last 2 months or so we had been stuck fighting the same servers, and SoS had such a massive oceanic population there was no way for us to even compete.
So to have to face the same situation another week is very frustrating.
