As a long time WvW player who mainly plays warrior I have some unfortunate news for you. We are probably the weakest class in WvW at the moment, and there are a number of reasons why.

We have certain traits that are a must have requirements to compete, such as warrior sprint, and fast hands and without cleansing ire you’re going to find it hard to clear conditions when you face a heavy condition build. The nerf to warhorn also really hurt warrior in WvW, as we no longer have a way of converting conditions to boons. With the way stability works you will find it nearly impossible to push a group unless you’ve got a group of guardians with you who can do everything you can offer much better. The current meta is to “pirate ship” or range players down from afar, so that makes warrior 100% useless unless you’re playing a gunflame build or running around with a longbow which has terrible composition. A lot of our skills require us to be right on our targets, and with so many CC and escape abilities it can be infuriating try to stay in melee without getting kited around.

However, the build is not bad as a roaming or havoc group, you do have some sustain. The only thing I would suggest is maybe not using an axe because the weapon is seriously trash. Eviscerate hits like a wet noodle compared to other weapons and it’s very easy to dodge, though I’ve recently heard there is a bug that makes it undodgeable. I find that whenever I try to land an eviscerate the enemy player always has some type of evade/block/dodge up.

In the EU GvG tournaments a lot of 15 vs 15 groups only bring one warrior and it’s simply because the warbanner is still great at rallying down players, but it a good example of how bad of a state the class is in if they’re only being used for one thing.

The changes forced me to play a different class for comwnding in WvW. Warriors were incredible in WvW, but now if you don’t have a ranged weapon you’re pretty much worthless in large fights.

Stability was changed from duration to intensity stacking with March 16 2015 update.

I personally think it needs some improvement. From my experience it’s had minimal impact on PvE, a medium one on PvP and huge one on WvW.

Is it time to get some diminishing returns on skills now? These traps are awful annoying and they pretty much remove entire stacks of stability.

Pirate ship meta is bad enough, but putting in traps that you can’t see that make it even harder to push is making it terrible.

For a new or returning player? Yes it’s absolutely hard to get. You have to grind materials and gold. It’s very demanding on players who want to raid, especially new ones.

I crafted my ascended armor and weapons over the span of 6 months, literally making one component a day, spending 20 or 30 gold here and there.

Now that there is an actual demand for ascended gear; an actual benefit for have that small boost to your satas, people are grinding hard to obtain it quickly only to find it nearly impossible to do without a large saving of gold and materials.

A large supply of crafting materials and gold are something no new players are going to have, which further divides the gap between new and returning players and veterans.

A gap in the player base is never a good thing for MMO longevity.

I agree with Link.You simply can’t penalize one time zone over another.Your server has to recruit people from other time zones to fill the "over night " population out .But their will be an inherent problem their as well because people of certain languages will flock to one server over another because it’s easier to coordinate battles.This is a multicultural game because its world wide and that makes it awesome .I’ve played with people all over Asia to North America and everywhere in between.But if you change the point system that puts penalties because of where lower populations live then we’ll lose the vibrate nature of the game because those people would just quit .That would be the real crime.

Recruiting never lasts and it’s a terrible solution to the problem.

Transfers are one of the main reasons WvW is in a such a terrible state right now, over the years it’s created a terrible population problem and it’s left many servers desolated.

Players who want to experience WvW the way it’s meant to be played, with plenty of fights and coverage are forced to transfer to a tier 1 server, where most top guilds play right now.

Recruiting players is also time consuming and there’s no in game function or mechanic that allows it to happen, forcing playerst run campaigns and raise transfer funds themselves.

It’s an absolute joke that they allowed open transfers weeks before the last WvW season, and it’s an absolute joke it’s the only way to “fix” coverage issues.

It’s not a salution.

Screw PPK. When someone dies in WvW, they are out for the rest of the week. That will make the fights tense and make defending a hell of lot more easier.

And the better fight squads could slowly win through attrition even if they were outnumbered.

It should only be available to a server that’s losing by 5,000 to 10,000 points.

There’s no mechanic that can help a server make a come back other than getting more numbers online.

If true, I would hope the people who are helping with these tests are WvW players.

You don’t need to be in a WvW guild to be good at WvW, or have a clue about why it’s not functioning very well.

A lot of PvE guilds are actually PvX guilds with a long history within the guild wars community. I happen to be in one such guild [KT] that’s over 12 years old with strong ties to the community. We have a lot of members, some of whom WvW quite often, and even represent other guilds while doing it.

You’re throwing accusations and labeling a guild based on a rumor, and as someone in a PvE guild who’s an avid WvW player with plenty of members who WvW as well, I think you’re putting too much merit into the idea that ArenaNet doesn’t think these things over when they invite a guild.

Why can’t they just change the way stability works in WvW? I’m so tired of the design philosophy that all the skills in three very separate game modes have to be the same.

GW2 is completely divided between PvP, WvW and PvE, so it’s time to accept that and designing skills around that.

A perfect example of a change would be to revert the warhorn skill on warriors to effect 10 targets again instead of 5 and convert the conditions back to boons.

This change was put in because it was OP in PvP but it really crippled warriors frontline ability in WvW.

Boon stripping should only remove a certain amount of stacks of stability, not the boon itself.

This would require more strategy on when to boon strip and force comps to consider keeping boon strips in reserve.

Commander bannok(sbi) transferring to BG

SBI still has some pretty good pug fights when we are at our peak time, Bannok hasn’t tagged up in months so it’s given the server a lot of time to adjust to new tags.

The sad fact is that if you want WvW to work the way it’s intended to in its current state you have to play on a server that has active WvW community and coverage and that can only be found in tier 1 at the moment.

Bannok is right about Anet taking too long to address things, you’ve basically got 15+ servers that can’t really enjoy a mode unless certain conditions are just right (reset night) and there’s very little left to fight for since 90% of the WvW community knows the mechanics of the mode are broken.

I still have hope remaining that Anet can address some of the major issues, such as scoring and population adjustments but it will always be flawed.

In the meantime I can assure you that SBI will keep afloat till Bannok gets bored of his bagels and his retirement.

Remove the Oasis event from the Borderlands

The Oasis event should only occur if a server is behind by 5,000 or 10,000 points, at which point it occurs every 3 hours.

There’s no mechanic in the game that can help a server that’s losing make a come back other than hoping you’re population grows over night.

The way to fix Gunflame is to not run around in full zerker gear. The meta has made everyone glass so people are going to get destroyed by skills like this. If people start scaling back the power creep and going back to P/T/V gear you will see less people using these “OP” abilities.

There’s a lot more work to be done till they can start working on releasing season 1 stuff. They only have so many people, it’s not as easy as saying “let’s do this!” and a day later it’s done.

The reason why SBI feels dead is because we’re a militia/pug and PvX based server. We have very few WvW only guilds and the ones we had have left in search of more populated maps.

Dragonbrand has clearly gotten transfers, VP rolls 25 to 30 deep and it’s verry difficult to fight a 30 man guild group if you’ve got militia and pugs running around doing whatever.

If you’re a patient person I would suggest waiting around, or helping one of the many guilds on SBI that are working at getting groups together to WvW with, otherwise spend your gems and go to a server that’s tier 2 or higher.

I can tell you that as a long time WvW player that transferring to servers is usually a temporary solution. Dragon Brand has had several uprisings, and they currently out populate SBI and Maguuma most of the time. You’re going to have a hard time finding groups to fight outside of NA primetime, but if you like to karma train and flip empty keeps it’s probably a good place to go.

I understand it’s meant to take a lot of effort to level up, but it feels needlessly complicated and the dependency one person is surely going to cause problems in the future.

These have not been available since the Alpine Borderlands were removed from the game. The only way to currently obtain them is grinding the Kryta reward track in PvP, and the entire track will give you around 6-8 bags.

You need heavy supply bags for guild upgrades, and a lot of early unlocks for WvW require them.

A number of threads have been made but no official response has been made about this problem, so can we can some feedback?

Warriors rely on the ability to tough damage while wading through combat unimpeded. Our main strengths are might, stability, and fury.

take a look at the past updates and you will see a trend that nerfs this. Starting with the stab nerf (which was not so bad) then might nerf, then toughness nerf, condi cleansing nerfs, then finally the addition of these new high damage elite specializations.

Everything that made a warrior useful has been nerfed into oblivion all because some zerker builds expected to be able to 100-0 us in one go and were in for a rude awakening when their normally 10k crit turned into a 4k crit.

These changes did not effect Guardian as bad because guardians have protection, aegis, and a multitude of ways to heal themselves. Sadly, it will be a very long time before you see warriors making a come back. I believe that anet will focus on trying to ballance the new elite specs before the ever try to fix the problems with the game that has nerfed warriors.

The sad truth is that Anet does not know how to balance this. if the reverse the toughness nerf they will be buffing not only warrior but guardians and rev who are already tanky enough. They cannot make blanket change to the game that will fix warrior for this reason. The only true way to fix the warrior is to redesign them, and that is a whole crap load of work.

If anet does want to fix the warrior, they have not made any mention of it in the forums. I have yet to see any response from any dev on the forums, and i doubt i will.

I haven’t been able to push through 10+ enemies since the stability changes. The amount of ranged pressure and conditions received before you even get into range to swing a hammer is ridiculous.

If you play WvW with pugs, you’re forced to use a ranged weapon otherwise you end up just standing around while the two groups pirate ship.

Historical accuracy isn’t something Guild Wars 2 is really concerned about, but I will say that I think warriors really got the short end of the stick with the bezerker specialization.

If we look at the context of the bezerker in the fantasy setting they’ve always been about sustaining crazy damage while doing large amounts of damage.

Warriors currently seem to be build around a really shallow adrenaline burst mechanic, and the bezerker mechanic just adds more to the same shallow and flawed mechanic.

Warriors as a whole are really hurting in PvP and WvW, the other classes bring much more to the table in terms of versatility and group support.

I would have to agree that warriors have gotten really far from what we were first promised long ago. I’ve always thought warriors should get harder to kill the longer they fight, and the way to counter them would be to kill them quickly or try to kite them….

Sadly the adrenaline building aspect really has no use, and instead our entire class is build around using an F1 ability that can easily be avoided.

Warriors should be all about building that momentum, needing to stay in the battle.

From my understanding, it will cost 3 to 6 gold to build “supply sabotoge.” It has one use per camp, so you’ll need to queue/build more than one if you plan on using them in WvW more than once.

That’s a low level upgrade, imagine what the cost of the higher ones will be.

Teribble, terible system. It’s challenging enough to build the required guild structure and upgrades, but charging the guild an aditional amount of gold just to queue/build an upgrade that’s already been unlocked is so freaking despicable.

I think the two big problems with warrior right now are they we MUST have certain traits to survive, and that adrenaline decays way too fast.

I would love to see warrior sprint and fast hands be base line traits, or perhaps warrior sprint be linked to adrenaline and remove the decay.
