Come WvW, seriously. I deleted a 250 of these every night….
He didn’t ask anyone from WvW design to help contribute because he knows they don’t do anything to begin with.
:(
Might as well let all the servers play eachother, there’s no balance since its all coverage based, so why not let a silver league server face a gold league server?
Because that wouldn’t be balanced?
But it’s their cash cow
There are already many benefits to having a high score in WvW, look at the benefits your server has Friday before reset under the WvW tab.
Make guild siege last 2 hours….
This is one of the many topics that’s been discussed over and over and over and…..
Seriously though, if the WvW team wants to earn some points back with the community they will take a look at this buff and think of some ways to improve it.
The big thing is armor repair is no longer in the game, so the greatest benefit is no longer there.
I wouldn’t mind seeing more siegerazor events.
I’ll make a couple of points here to hopefully clarify this issue.
1) It takes a very large amount of time and effort to make a new map. It’s definitely more than a 6 month process from start to finish. Especially if we are talking about building a new borderlands taking all the thing we’ve learned since the game came out into account. With that in mind it’s a big task. It took us a little under a year to get EotM built and shipped from conception to release. So that is a more reasonable timeline for a new map.
2) The area we added to Obsidian Sanctum was in progress prior to the incident mentioned above and, while it didn’t take a particularly large amount of time, was still a process of over a month. We don’t release map changes without thorough testing. Keep in mind that was just a small change to an existing map, not a completely new map.
3) We currently, unfortunately, don’t have the ability to rotate maps in and out of the game in the manner discussed above. We have talked about this concept many times and it is something we’d like to be able to do long term, but it is not a small task given the technical structure of our game.
All of those things being true, we absolutely want to make new maps for WvW and when we have them ready to talk about and show off, believe me we will. It’s very important to us that when we do release a new WvW map it is a clear example of what we think the ideal WvW map would be. That means we will test the heck out of it and do everything we can to make sure it is even more awesome than the current maps. I realize this isn’t a timeline or an answer to where are more maps, but it’s as much as we can give you right now and it hopefully gives some insight to the size of the task. As I said, as soon as we have more to talk about or show, you will hear it.
Thanks for the info. This is the kind of developer feedback we need more of!
Completely agree that the sound should be much more noticeable! It’s a legendary war horn, much like the huge one at the top of Helms Deep from the Lord of the Rings movie, albeit much smaller.
The default war horn sounds are terrible to begin with and sound like my grandma blowing into a conch shell.
Give the horn a sound that will make people notice!!
I have not seen D. Carver for a long time. I’m thinking he might have moved on?
GW2 is in desperate need of an RNG change, nothing’s more infuriating when you’ve played the game 3x as long as others and don’t have a legendary
There are some awesome sounds in the Boss Blitz and I was wondering if it would be possible to get sounds thrown into WvW.
Maybe whenever a keep is taken a big war horn can be heard across the map?
A while back I also heard this odd ping like sound. It was as if someone was sending you a message or some kind of notice. But I never saw anything to put the sound into context.
One night in WvW I asked if anyone ells was hearing something similar and a few people said they had.
I haven’t noticed it lately, or I might just be so used to hearing it I don’t notice it anymore!
The WvW community is hungry for small changes such as these. It’s what we’ve been lacking the last several months.
Keep implementing little changes here and there and it will go a long way with the WvW community!
Scrap the entire mode, go back to drawing board, use all the info from past CDI’s, use a Beta test server and work out ALL bugs before release.
I would 1000% support this, if the player base saw this commitment I think a lot of people would com d back to GW2, take your time and make a public test server to test WvW!!!
They are doing this to keep track of who has tickets already, if people spend them they have no way knowing who’s received the tickets.
Just sit tight.
I’ve seen a Diamond Invader on Overgrowth (at EotM) last week… Which means he was at least 6445.
That makes me sick to my stomach. I dint rank up fast because I’m constantly defending boderlands, but I still feel like I’ve put a ton of hours into WvW, but I’m not even a fraction as close to that rank.
The stealth mechanics just need a tweek
I force myself to PvE and don’t QQ. Thrres a bug, tickets will come.
At least it’s a new opponent
Guys have faith, last time there was an issue like this everyone ended up with the correct rewards
Will this be recorded to watch later?
I want guilds to have more purpose in WvW. Give guilds more upgrades, like a deployable camp drop that offers 100 supply to any location, just make the unlock have a long cool down.
Make guards in the objective display the guild emblem
So happy to see some developer comments towards WvW!!!!!
The devs don’t have an answer for this yet. They were debating it this afternoon with no conclusion reached.
The one who programmed it left the company in the meantime, so they are as curious as we are what will happen
Who left?? Is it Devon?
Also: tie servers share place. If 2 servers have second place then the next server will have fourth place, there will be no third.
I wish him luck, but maybe we can get some open discussion with developers now…
Excuse my bluntness but stop whining about Gandara as if it won by default simply by free transfers
Of course Gandara won by default, They shouldn’t even have been in the Silver League in the first place. It was known right from the offset that Gandara would top the Silver league by the sheer amount of people that flooded to that server.
Same with HoD on NA
Stagnation. What’s the main reason we still play PvE? Content patches and living story.
zergfest race smash keys bececouse makes damage content, no ty! better time playing 2048 or defending on wvw.
While I agree with you the majority of people not in WvW play because it’s all the same everyday, night and week. Downfall relates to the average player leaving WvW.
I don’t believe the ones that use tokens use less supply, they just count as superior and look incredible.

Nice health bump but uplevels are still fodder with it.
This*
My norn warrior has 36k health in bear form, so I don’t think that’s the cap

Only benefit is the appearance?!
Guild catapults hit like Superior Catapults and cost only 25 supplies to build (Superior costs 60), so you can do twice the damage with less supplies. They are expensive for a reason.
I’m talking about the ones bought with tokens, not with guild influence
Not worth the time sink, game is free take your time.
I’ll agree with this. Tough to come by… expensive for most… Looks amazing… Why not 2 hours?
It’s tough to come by and guild claiming in this game is already lame enough half the time, let guilds have more of an impact.
Guild siege is incredible looking, but it’s rarely used because it’s only benefit is its appearance.
I suggest increasing the seige time to 2 hours.
This would allow guilds to have a greater impact to seiging up an objective, and woukd greatly help on servers lacking coverage to refresh seige.
IoJ ticking 600, thanks to CD no show and virtually all of SBI community having work till 6:00 pm.
It was a fun week, despite people trying to get SBI to purposely lose.
On my realm (Isle of Janthir) I’ve started WvW and loved the concept, But can’t even play due to being outnumbered 6 to 1. We are #2 out of 3 and the third isn’t far behind. Stormbluff Isle (#1) controls 76% of eternal Battlegrounds and 62% of WvW. the only reason they aren’t 80% or more is cause the 2 realms get champs and towers and forges sometimes. I understand the fact that its cause people aren’t logging into WvW often on our realm but who wants to when we can’t get past our starting point without a group of 20 people to escort us… I like the idea of being able to roam around with 5-8 people and have fun which doesn’t even work out cause SBI has 20 more than us taking us out in our own base with all our people in it with siege weapons and everything. They pour in in a couple dozen and take everything out, While they are taking our forge, tower, and traveling to other bases. I believe that Arena should limit the amount in and have a que for it to be fair and an actual challenge, not just one realm roaming around uncontested. Thats just EOTM, in eternal Bgs its our only hope and we still have trouble. Its not like we lose all the time, in eternal we can get 50% but them EOTM is taken by most of them and them they swarm into eternal and have 80% until we regroup. considering we have to wait for them not to be somewhere to do anything makes WvW boring. Also I’m not gonna switch to SBI just to face roll through PvP, thats for Warcraft. Anyone have any ideas on what we can do to help our realm (Isle of Janthir) and also our fellow losing realm (Crystal Desert). It would be much appreciated.
You guys vastly outnumber us during the early morning and day, we have a massive prime time presence (6:00 to 11:00 eastern).
You were a head by 5k today before SBI swept the map.
Think how the players on CD feel? I salute them for not giving up, but the above poster is right.
WvW is coverage vs coverage, the games designs forced this huge flaw to the surface.
The best time to enjoy WvW is Friday night, when most servers can rally players onto each map.
I’m sure it will make an appearance on the trade post for gems…
Just give us a loyalty trait, it goes up the longer your on a server :P
Kaladarm, I think I actually remember you (or someone in a very similar position) asking in the Borderlands map what WvW was like on Underworld. Fair broke my heart trying to help explain it.
There were a few hours, a few glorious hours, last week when we were actually second in our match up. Didn’t last, obviously.
It is kinda depressing. There’s rarely much point trying to upgrade something cos you know you’re never going to be able to hang on to it and you know that, sooner or later, when the other servers get done with whatever they’re doing and send their main force over, you’re going to get stomped into a smear of meat paste on the ground.
I think at this point we just play for the fight, for the few times when there are enough of us on to actually mount a decent defence and have a proper epic battle, like the ones that used to be fairly commonplace.
Ah well, not a lot we can do about it. Maybe next season it might occur to someone to put an upper limit on the number of people who can transfer to a single server.
Or the rest of us bail on Underworld and leave no one there at all. That might make someone pay attention.
Shout out to all the other Underworlders who’ve stuck around through thin and thinner (confession: not logged on at all in the last few days – I can only take so much getting beaten up day after day before I need a break).
You sir are an inspiration to all WvW players. Bravo. I salute you.
There should be more tabs to the left on the item box, I think.
I think the tournaments are very very kitten server communities.
This whole system is so flawed. How can a tournament system be taken seriously when a server can actually place 2nd in a match-up and end up placing higher in rank as a result? Garbage scenarios like these are what end up killing a community, something many people play for.
The options SBI faces are, place 2nd this week and have a chance at placing 2nd or 4th at the end of the tournament.
Or place 1st this week and have a chance of placing 4th or 5th at the end of the tournament.

Anet plans on having a random number generator break the tie.
Is it just an empty field with a few people capping camps and a tower here and there? What’s it like? Is there any discussion in map chat about the servers?
Let me get this straight. You some how suggesting that Anet is responsible for player choices?
They are responsible for the problem and a game design that doesn’t mitigate against the problem. And in a lot of respects their decisions have made the problem worse, such as free transfers for so long after launch, free transfers just before seasons, the set up of the seasons themselves and the higher rewards for finishing first..
People continue to discuss this mythical “problem”. WvW was designed from the get go to be unfair. To rephrase – there is no balance, nor is there meant to be, and the devs have stated this from the very beginning.
Therefore, there is no problem here, and nothing that ANet has to “solve”.
Then why did they remove PvE item kits, such as rocks, mines, environmental items, kits….
Because people were using them to great effect.
Guys, the CDI was just to pacify dumb people for awhile. They were never going to act on any of it.
That’s not true, I have no doubt they are working on something, I just wish they were more open about some of their ideas.
You have no doubt. Based on what? Not their track record, certainly.
Hope?
They CAN make the Citadel waypoint contested though. If that’s the only waypoint available on that server’s map, that could constitute as severe harassment/griefing as it badly restricts the server’s ability to respond to assaults or even to respawn after a death.
In this case it was the only waypoint, oh well
Nothing can be done about the current system, it’s as flawed as American congress at the moment.
