I learned as a kid that if all others are the problem, the solution can be found in fixing myself. If you feel the need to kick 60% of a group, you are the problem, not those others.

And that’s why we need filters. Filthy scums like me would play with each others and people I kick with each others. At least now you get to this point.

I’m not going to waste my precious time I could spend on cleansing zhaitan’s influence in orr to get those dragonite ores on people unable to think because they spent too much time on that cleansing.

I’ve been giving the LFG a workout over the last few days and so far so good.

My favorite unexpected use for it is World Events, I’ve both joined in and created listings for world bosses with excellent results. Even rolled a party straight into a TA run afterwards.

Parties form practically instantly, really highlights the strength of no trinity combat. Love that we have this ingame now.

Indeed, it makes people getting together even easier.

and tell me why is chopping down trees more profitable then running fractals? Because thats what arenanet did? Nope its because player like you feel its too much effort to spend 15 minutes gather and instead are willing to pay a premium to other players who are having the time of their life making more in 15 mins gathering then you make in an hour doing fractals.

Blame yourself for that not the game.

I don’t even care about money, I can get it fast by selling arah paths. I care about being forced to do brainless activities to get dragonite ore.

Thanks I know AR on maw is un dodgeable and I know AR is dodgeable for everyone else. I am not that much of a newbe.

why are you being insulting all of a sudden, did I not respect your opinion and reply to you politely ? you want to remove respect from the equation fine, I can do that too.

I am sorry to say but the content you want to play is about getting better gear to tackle an ever increasing challenge. Getting the gear is part of the challenge you face. You find crafting too challenging? Sorry I guess this is as high as you’re able to get for now. You can always hope in the future they’ll do a way thats easier on you.

I’m insulting you because all this time I thought I was arguing with someone who has remote idea how fractals work. Instead I found out I’ve been wasting time.

And now you started trolling. Crafting too challenging, are you trying to provoke me? It’s an exact definition of trolling.

you’re the one who wants ascended gear out of the picture while retaining the difficulty of fractals as is. I already told you thats impossible without gating out people who dont want to care about gear which is one of the core pillars of this game.

Presented with that you said AR is unimportant and its all about the states when rebutted on that now you’re saying AR is crucial (which was my whole point all along) so please decide on a version and stick to it.

One last chance to explain this very simple concept to all simpletons. You need AR to complete even scales where you get rewarded. You cannot avoid agony there. You can do odd scales if you press dodge at the right time but there’s no reward for that. I want to have a different acquisition method of ascended gear than crafting and rng. I don’t care if they are superior by 6.(06)% than exotics, I need AR to be able to finish the content which I want to play.

Educate yourself first, you even admitted you don’t do them except casually. I don’t talk about issues I’m clueless. You’re just making people lose their time for the sake of what exactly? Trolling?

A 40th level fractal isn’t significantly different from a 20th level fractal. The bosses have more health. The agony resistence goes up. It’s the same thing.

I wouldn’t call a 40th level fractal different from a 20th level fractal as far as content goes. Someone can see all the fractals, each individual one, and experience the idea of it by staying under level 20, or even under level 10.

Content is same but the difficulty level is higher. It’s like a version of hard mode from gw1. And it is significant different because at higher levels you actually have to use the thing between your ears. Spamming autoattacks doesn’t work so well.

They just get more challenging. If you want to do that stuff, get the gear to do it. If it’s too much work, don’t do it. Simple as that.

I want to get a gear. The problem is it requires from me to spend some quality time with the most brainless and mind-numbing activities I have ever seen in whole game industry. Simple as that.

Not true on any count…

1. Dungeoneers have got 2 dungeons, MF and AR both of which where quite good
2. Next update they’re going to get a new lvl 80 path in an existant dungeon
3. AC redesign
4. Fractals themselves
5. New Ascended gear
6. You got to choose a new fractal which will be released by the end of the year
7. MF and AR are both coming back as new fractals

Thats hardly no meaningful content or 0 consideration for players like you, I dont know where you’re getting such an idea!

same thing with PvP, new sPvP maps, countless changes to WvW

Everyone got something they enjoy and everyone got something they dont enjoy… I am no different then anyone else.

I am not a dungeon person, I would have rather they didnt do Ascended gear, they didnt do fractals, they didnt do MF and AR, Or updated AC and instead focused on the open world with new hopefully more challenging Dynamic Events. But I would certainly not going to claim Anet dont care about me just because they did other stuff like fractals and the rest mentioned above! some updates likes The bazaar of the 4 winds are targetted at what I enjoy doing, Some updates like the Aetherblade pirates are targeted at people who enjoy dungeons.

Which is the one group of players that are being considered, those you like vertical progression? cause that couldnt be further from the truth.

We had 2 temporary, story mode dungeons. I’m sure most people did them once and never came back. In the meantime, anet disbanded dungeon teams completely and send those developers to living story crap teams.

can you do level 40 fractals in rares? Can you do level 10 fractals in rares yes!

why is that what does level 40 fractals have different then a level 10 fractal?

Mostly AR

I dont know whats so confusing about that? Arenanet said it from day 1. They dont want to do any content thats gated to players unless they have specific gear. That means that any content they release has to be done with any tier of gear you have which in turns it makes it very difficult to have really hard content. AR was the solution to that problem. And weather you like it or not that difficulty exists thanks to verticial progression of the Gear AR resistance compared to the fractal AR.

I see. I’ve been arguing this whole time with someone who has no clue how fractals works. Kudos to you. AR is the least what makes levels 40 and 10 different.

Your comforting play comes at the cost of others not being able to play at all.

They wouldn’t play with me at all anyway because I don’t hesitate from kicking 60% of my party. So scrubbies will be angry and I will be angry. How’s fixing that not improving a comfort of play?

While I agree people shouldn’t join false parties, I don’t for instance, you should realize that everyone has to start some place. You have an implicit obligation to teach people. I’m not going to enforce that but you should be thankful that other people were not kittens like you when you first learned a dungeon.

It doesn’t take hours. A little bit of explanation and willingness to wipe once or twice is all. People gave you that, you should give that to others.
If people are clearly unwilling to learn, you can kick them, but in my experience that rarely, if ever, happens.

Obligation to teach people? You can’t be serious. I learnt them by myself with a group of friends since this is a kittening social game. And it’s not about explaining bosses. It’s about explaining how to play their professions, cause apparently a vast majority of gw2 playerbase is beyond being bad, blame open world comfort with the design of “getting people to play together” aka zerging everything.

I’m sorry but dungeon/fractal runners had no meaningful content since last November. And I don’t ask dear anet to design game around me but with consideration of me and other like-minded individuals. Thats not the argument, the argument is if you can play everything using just exotic gear which you can.

You can also jump from a bridge or tower.

Keep in mind without the AR mechanic then fractals wouldnt be any more difficult then any other part of the open world either. Hence if they didnt have ascended gear you wouldnt have your hard content cause they still need to satisfy the notion that any content is doable without having to worry for gear and that includes exotic gear too.

Right, scales 40+ are as hard as mining mithril in orr.

Totally serious. When I jest, I use either a smiley or other form to show my sarcasm or irony.

I don’t allow for discrimination on sandy grounds.

The auto-join is not good imho, but adding filters is another issue entirely. Most countries have constitutional rules against such behaviour.

Arena.net should not facilitate discrimination of players on grounds that are not relevant for the content. As such, AR is the only relevant filter in one particular dungeon. Filtering on AP, /age, profession, race, character biography choices, GW1 titles etc etc leads to all kinds of ugly.

So before you you demand a filter, first prove that said filter is actually relevant to the content.

Filters are not obligatory so take your constitution elsewhere.

The point of filters is to improve comfort of play. Unless you like to spend hours on teaching scrubs how to play their profession. I’d say joining properly described parties without reading or ignoring said description is a griefing and should be bannable.

Do you think newbies talking first steps into new dungeons want to play with groups that skips everything and will not waste time to explain anything?

and please dont say level 50 fractals cause you might not survive level 50 in exotics sure but you can still play those same fractals in level 1 – 10.. even up to 20 if you’re good enough wearing not a single ascended item.

I did 38 with 0 ar but that doesn’t mean it’s doable when your whole team has unappropriate ar. You won’t survive maw at higher levels and there’s no way you can avoid its agony application. I can complete odd scale but not even and that’s where your reward for your effort lies.

I am afraid you’re mistaken intent with advertisement.

What you’re talking about is intent. The intent is you can play the game without having to worry about gear ever. Thats entirely true. You can indeed play the entire game without having to worry about gear. I myself am proof of that having played the entire gear without owning a single piece of ascended gear. That intent though doesnt mean that players who like vertical progression have to be cut out, they can have their thing as long as the original intent (that which gear isnt crucial to the game) is satisfied.

Again they’re not forcing anyone to do anything.
You’re free to ignore ascended weapons and you can still play the content you enjoy and still eventually get the ascended weapon you want as a drop playing nothing other then content you play now. Sure it may take a while, most likely a while longer then the alternative but its none the less possible. With that in mind saying you’re forced to play boring content is wrong. To be forced that weapon needs to be needed (which it isnt) and you would have no other option to get it (which isnt even the case)

You can’t play entire game with your just exotics. And saying it might take slightly longer is not an answer.

And I read the table wrong (was looking down instead of across) so my apologies.

Have I said that maw is challenging? Because it’s not. But once anet unlocks higher levels, which should happen when they add 3 additional fractals, you will want to do dailies at higher levels, because solid ocean is the only rewarding fractal (even though its reward is still basically a trash).

This table is wrong anyway and presents how agony will affect you after even levels are unlocked.

Vayne is absolutely right here and spot on.

MMOs are about all players not just 1 player. Keep in mind that design decisions that dont apply to you might be very well vital for another type of player.

The whole thing is a compromise.

I for one for example dont like the idea of vertical progression in the least, so I was against Ascended gear. Even posted against it in the very first pages of the ascended gear mega thread.

Yet now a days I defend it. I still dont like the idea, still dont have a single piece of ascended gear so why do I defend it? because 1. I release that its needed for some players and 2. because they didnt forget about players like me when they implemented, they made sure that if I chose to ignore it I wouldnt be gated out of anything and that if I dont have it I can still enjoy everything including WvW

So why should I criticize them in some cases pretty harshly just for giving other players what they want?

It’s a bad compromise. They should implement different methods of acquisition than random drops.

Where is his post anyway?

Not everyone things of cosmetic rewards as a goal worth pursuiting some people will not accept anything short of better stats and those players need content as well.

That kind of content is present in bunch of other games. This game was advertised with different purpose. Or did anet sniffed more money from content locusts? Can’t blame them for that, but I can blame them for implementing ascended weapons they way they are now. Forcing people to do the most boring thing this game offers is surely the way to please your entire playerbase.

So how does not having an Ascended weapon affect you?

I mean, surely the more AR you get, the easier it’d become at that point? All bosses at that point only do 1% per tick in Agony, apart from the Jade Maw.

What are you talking about? Bosses do 18% per tick while maw ~1000% per tick at that level. But once anet unlocks even levels 50+ you will have to get more AR if you ever want to complete daily which is the only rewarding part of fractals. You can’t avoid maw agony unlike other bosses’.

Fractals themselves are a change in direction from the initial design and that change was made to give content to people like you who craved challenge and difficulty that dungeons didnt provide. Another problem they’re addressing is that of people who want ever better gear and they consider nothing else as a worthy reward. Thats the clash you’re experiencing.

You want the first but dont care about the 2nd. Its a bummer but its a necessary evil unfortunately. Consider that players like we are not really happy about ascended gear at all, I’d rather it didnt exist but then players like you would be robbed from the content they love and thats not fair. We have all to accept things that we dont like 100% for the good of the game. I dont like Ascended gear and would rather not have it, yet I defend Arenanet reason for implementing it simply because I understand that its necessary content for people like you. Like wise you have to compromise. You need it because it fuels the content you love yet you dont like the way its being given out. Fair enough but understand its needed as other players need to have a goal they work towards to enjoy the game.

I don’t want better rewards per se, I want better rewards (skins) for completing harder content than people who press 1 all day can get. I’m perfectly fine with pure horizontal progression, in fact that would make this game much better.

Harder content -> unique skins
Easy content -> less unique skins

Which actually reminds me of gw2 at launch. You could craft terrible looking armours and weapons or do harder content and get arah gear for instance.

You have 0 alts? or all those alts use the same build? is it really 16 out of 17?

But anyway you have a valid point their either way even if it was 12 / 17 it wouldnt change the fact that you could get a sub optimal drop.

I have 2 alts. All of them are using one stat because there’s no point in using others if you play high level fractals. Unless I’d have necro or engy but unfortunately I don’t and I don’t intend to make more alts.

I dont know why they did it that way… I can only assume it was to limit the speed of acquisition for players who do fractals only but thats just my theory. Still while not ideal is it really that game breaking? You can still enjoy fractals, you can still have your challenge and still have it all until you get the drop you want. It is not really negatively affecting you in any way, there is no problem waiting for the drop you desire as far as I can tell. Of course if you cannot wait you’re always free to craft it.

I am sure that in the future like they expanded the way to earn rings and such they will make ascended weapons more accessible as well if crafting is not an acceptable solution to you. In the meantime you can still try to get it through drops, even if 16 out of 17 are useless it doesnt mean you cannot get the one you want with the 1st, 2nd, 5th drop after all!

You are rewarded with fractal weapon skins with exactly same way. Guess how many people got weapons they had wanted. And keep in mind that I could get almost every skin and it still could be useful. Weapon boxes should let you pick type of stats, not type of weapon.

They don’t have to limit the speed of acquisition since they blocked even fractals level from 50. Right now, AR simply allows bads to complete normal fractal runs easier.

As for ascended weapons they drop in fractals as well no need to craft them. Sure you need to get lucky and get the stats you desire to have the best possible weapon I’ll give you that but any drop will be enough to provide you with agony resistance which should allow you to progress further at the same time leaving you another goal to achieve. Why is that a problem? sorry I dont see it?

Correction, Ascended gear is required for high level fractals. High level fractals are meant for people who want vertical progression by using an ever increasing amount of agony that can be countered by ever increasing better gear.

No one is saying there is 0 use for Ascended gear. We’re saying Ascended gear is not required for anything which is true. You can still play all the fractals with 0 ascended gear. What we’re saying essentially is dont play content in a way thats meant for vertical progression if you’re against vertical progression. Again please not we’re not saying dont play that content. You can still play every single fractal with no ascended gear. We’re saying dont try to reach the top of the vertical progression chain if you dont want a vertical progression chain. You can do both, its your choice which way you go.

High level fractals are the only thing remotely difficult in this game. There’s virtually nothing in pve that is hard to complete. I don’t want vertical progression, I hate it. I want challenging and rewarding content. Instead we have brainless activities that rewards you higher than doing something challenging. And to do something remotely hard you have to participate in those kinds of activities.

It makes sense to me. Because people who do nothing but run dungeons, pretty much don’t contribute to the game Anet was trying to design with a living breathing world. The fractals were a bone thrown to grinders, like ascended weapons, nothing more.

So, the initial design where you could do just wvw, dungeons or open world to get exotics were thrown out of a window. Makes sense. Living world has nothing to do with players but with constant dynamic changes.

There are people doing just open world and they can progress, there are people doing just dungeons and fractals and they could have progress, there are people doing just wvw and they could have progress. I see a contradiction here which is mostly due to incompetence and short-sighted vision of our dear developers who apparently want to turn pve to a place where you press 1 and win. I hope you enjoy that, I, on the other hand, don’t want to get a brain cancer.

The idea that you can just seclude yourself in a fractal and do nothing else ever and expect to progress is ludicrous.

The idea that you have 153 pages of white knighting every stupid design decision of our dear developers is at least amusing to me.

I like this game but I’m ONLY going to do a fractal.

Anyway, a high level fractal runner can run all the fractals they want, get the money to buy mats and never chop down anything.

They’d just need to run a lot more fractals.

Except that you get more money for cutting down a tree than for doing whole fractal level 79. Another great design by anet.

Why fractal runners are forced to chop down wood in orr to be able to run higher levels? Does that make any sense to you? And that “higher” fractal level is completely worthless and just a waste of time. You can get the “max” rewards at a level easily doable just with Fractal Ascended gear (Rings/Backpiece) there is no reason to go any higher.

Wanting to complete something remotely difficult is a reason. Facerolling through content is not my view of fun. Maybe you prefer to run in zerg doing nothing beside pressing 1 but there are some people who find that insulting.

It’s not dps but something called effective power. Warrior builds have those numbers even higher.

10/30/0/5/25 is probably not he best build since you lack critical damage from valour while getting only ~5% damage modifier (excluded unscathed contender), but this build (and the one with 30 in virtues) has more utility. There are few decent interchangeable traits, depending on the situation.

The thing is, none of the stuff you mentioned you HAVE to do to be able to do the high end stuff. tequatl? Nope, he only has a shortcut to ascended weapons with unique skins. Ascended weapons? They’re not that much better than exotic. All this is for the hardcore players who has been complaining about the lack of hard and difficult content in the game. Guild Wars 2 is trying to be a game for everyone. 10 months ago when someone complained about the lack of hardcore content, they got the response “Then this game is not for you”, however now this game IS for them too! Or at least it’s going to be when they add more difficult content, which they are. And it shouldn’t be any other way. The ascended gear and the tequatl fight is just not made for you.

Adding new loot table to old content and forcing players to chop down holy trees doesn’t make it hardcore at all. Especially if that involves things like world bosses and orrian temples.

GW 2 was advertised as a fun, casual MMO.

Ascended gear is required for fractals. Don’t play ignorant card.

Their current team is pretty weak when it comes to adding content with true longevity so they have no choice but time gate people and make them waste days/weeks on old content.

Let’s not sugarcoat it, it’s called incompetent.

I got 3 ascended weapon boxes out of 4 runs in daily 38 and 48.

Not to mention fotm is the only (LEGIT) karma farm left in the game.

I restarted my fotm runs for this, do it fast, do it now, before “revamp”.

How many of those were berserker?

So how do we fix Berserker?

I use zerk as well, but don’t consider myself part of a minority like other delusional people here. Zerk is in fact the most common build. So, kind of the average joe player you can encounter.

It implies you have some statistics to support that claim. I’d love to get a citation.

its bad… you only gain 30% crit. Loose power, loose 10K hp, have nothing for conditions, probably if you use shake it off you have 1 cleanse (against 5 that I have).

You don’t really do that much damage compared with mine WvW build but are very very weaker.

I never intended to make a good one, you just wanted a proof that your build isn’t something “amazing” in terms of amount of stat points. And you abuse one more trait.
