They are impressive because you don’t spend stat points on critical damage. Any gear set without critical damage will get same amount of stats.
And no, your warrior can’t outdamage other professions in berserker’s gear.

LoS with enough dps to melt a boss before TW fades away can be done with monitor shut down…..
For example if you range Alpha you can be hit by 3 types of Attacks, also you have to save people from crystals, and kill grubs to avoid his healing….

People at beginning was Learning…..took some time to understand….If you pugged sometimes you would see when you get a “low dps warrior” (because he uses only GS or is not full zerk or bad build) in your speed party, all becomes (slightly) harder for everyone.

I know….its difficult to explain why reducing melee strength would affect reducing zerker party viability.
If you can t reliably evade ranged Attacks in melee and get oneshot, you start having more choice.Once again pug experience…sometimes you want knight if your party can t melee.
And for spread i mean 2 groups.
1 ranged 1 melee…trinity by roles accessible to every profession….and not by the profession itself.
There’s no role trinity. There’s only utility and dps trinity. Do some high level fractal bosses like archdiviner or shaman in melee for christ sake. Is it really fun to kite the boss while slowing him down? You don’t even have to use endurance. You must feel great after performing that feat.
So we’re only talking about the highest level of fractals? Remove it from the rest of the game then. I was figuring in WvW and such. Only the people on high level fractals “needing” to craft this would solve a lot of things for me :P

Why fractal runner should be forced to craft? Is crafting panel a part of fractals? Or maybe you can chop a tree in fractal?

Why was ascended really introduced into the game? Arenanet says to bridge the time gap between exotic and legendary. Thats assuming someone is going after a legendary, but lets assume they are.
If the person is going after a legendary and is one of those people that arenanet is trying to make happy by bridging the time gap between exotic and legendary, then all that was really needed was the ability to ‘enchant’ existing exotics with an infusion slot where you can then throw in an AR infusion.
Since Fractals are the only place that receive the full benefit of ascended gear, the simplest solution is/was to simply allow these ‘progression minded’ players to work toward ‘enchanting’ their existing exotic gear with infusion slots for AR. Im willing to bet a lot of the progression minded players will be found mostly in Fractals, to which this certainly suits. For players like me, who wanted BiS gear early and to enjoy the game, I could simply ignore infusion and AR. To the WvW player…frag on!
The simple solution laid about above appeases the progression minded folks, it appeases the casual that doesn’t want to grind for another tier of gear, it appeases the WvW player who does not want to leave WvW to obtain his/her BiS gear. It does not create imbalance, it does not create hundreds of threads about ascended gear. It does not create frustration amongst players. It does not create the sense of being lied to. It does not…wait for it…give birth to the ‘manifesto’ debate.
Simple solution. They were either too shortsighted to see it, thought they knew better than the average bear, or ignored it. Either way, this is not a developer I want to give my money to any longer.
They could have avoided ALL of this. And I think the coding would have probably been easier too.

What I did isn’t relevant. What general population did is. Go pug mid level fractal 48 and tell me how often they dodge perfectly agony. I’m sure that after anet unlocks high levels those bads will continue to climb up with difficulty levels

There is a reason why some support skills are ranged, while other are not.
Same if some are 180 radius AOES and other are 360Dividing party in ranged and melee splitting in 2-3 would add a new dimension to tactic in fights.

spider queen doesn t use his attack on melee, i think lupicus use melee attack instead of projectile (maybe i m wrong i just care for the melee attack i don t remember it using projectile)….and stuff like that.
I’m pretty sure queen means it’s a female entity. Again, mobs/bosses use skills based on their “AI”. Most often, it’s based on priorities. She’s not using her ranged attack in melee because other attacks have higher priorioty for whole duration of the fight. It’s a technicality.
Since there are range check (cpt ashym for example) i would assume its possible to include powerful ranged Attacks that are easier to evade the more distance they fly and deals a massive amount of damage.

We have boss like those. Imbued shaman’s arrow is harder to evade at closer distance. Why do you even want to make a fight ranged. It’s completely boring kitefest with occasional dodge. Wait, you don’t even have to dodge an arrow, just sidestep. Oh, and how many people actually melee that boss? I could count on fingers of both hands.
Once again, most fractal bosses have already high enough melee hate, while ranging them is just brainless kite and cc.
People stacks for diferent reasons…. if you pug and you don t trust your party 100% you don t stack until phase change so you can avoid wasting your reflects before grub phase.

Making melee pointless is as wrong as making range pointless.
Again, that won’t be ever better than stacking in one spot because support has limited range. Much smaller than range distance. Not to mention that if you’d split your party into 2/3 or 3/2 those that range will have much easier job. You want to play with 2-3 people getting absolutely carried?
P.S. i remember also that zerker is easier to play than knight clerics and stuff….

Last time I’ve seen someone using knight’s armour he was literally soloing kholer by autoattacking him and facetanking. How does it make it easier than someone who actually has to dodge? Berserker’s isn’t easier, reflections make it.
And I started playing dungeons almost immediately at the launch. Gear choice was made by bads who couldn’t survive, surprise surprise, because berserker was considered unviable.
That just gave me an idea: I’m upping the ante. Beat Simin with 5 naked longbow rangers and you’ll get more shock value out of the video.

Filfth elitists is a term used broadly by scrubs who don’t like other people running in zerker gear. I honestly doubt that anet testers were doing simin in zerker gear, it’s more probable that their warrior had early access to celestial gear because #IzzyTheBest (pun intended).
If you don’t stand in red circles, Simin presents virtually no threat. That’s why berserker’s gear is kind of brute force method. You could have vastly improved your odds of beating her by completely or partially negating her mechanics. Do you know how many parties I joined were trying to do 4-1 for hours without even trying to run sparks?

A DPS check is a DPS check whether or not you suck. I don’t think might, fury, or anything really would have allowed you to defeat old simin in Dire. Maybe if you nailed the sparks every time.
Show me an rT video of beating the current Simin in full Dire stats.
Before all those nerfs I was joining random parties stuck at simin. If said party wasn’t made up with frenchies, we usually beat her after 5-15 minutes.
I also beat her with two necros, one with blues and 700 ap, second one with 1200.
What I meant previously was that you could be decent and do it normally assuming average dps or suck and want to have 4 warriors with a mesmer. The latter was kind of brute force bads could use to overcome this extreme challenge.
Once again, late Robert said he had watched their testers and they had no issues with Simin. Do you think their testers are filthy elitists, considering less than 10% completed normal Liadri?
No one sane runs 5 condition damage dealers in pve. It’s whole game flaw, not one “dps check” enounter.

It’s still not maintainable. Signet of inspiration recharge is too high and signet of fury doesn’t give 5 mights, though rage does.

Every non casual player I know hate this kittening crafting. Doing brainless and mindnumbing activities are not an answer, we’re not drones (well, some might be). Other mmos at least have more enjoyable methods to acquire bis gear.
Guys, anet cannot design fileters because they frankly lack skill to do so. Their “filters” in tp are very well thought from programmer perspective.

Agreed there is no one best build for all circumstances. I agree about virtues in fractals, since there is very little condition damage in fractals it is a lot of overkill to use PoV.
If you pick at least 20 points in there, there are 4 usable traits beside condition removal and consecration recharge. The dps difference of few percents doesn’t matter that much if you’re not speedrunning.

I’m against making builds someone’s, it’s not trademarked. There is only very limited amount of possible decent builds.
I know that Nikaido first posted very similiar build but there was also a discussion on guardian subforum about guardian dungeon builds where few people stated about this build before HC made a vid (which I just found out).
Back on topic, all of this build should be changed appropriately to the situation. There’s no the one best build. Personally, I’ve been using heavy virtues build in fotm because it gives more flexibilty than pure of voice builds – you can even trait tomes which has certain use.
Its not redundant. The numbers skew more the more buffs you add. Its why with less buffs necro looks pretty good compared to other classes.

It is redundant because every build uses them.
You don’t have to add exactly same damage modifiers like scholar runes, potions, sigils and vulnerability, it’s reduntant for comparison.

Colesy you are talking about maximizing DPS. But where is the defense part? If you run in a full offensive group you dont need any or only a small amount of defensive support (stun, protection, regeneration, slow, blind,……) the only required thing is a dodge at the right time and pure damage.
Maybe in cof. Usually you can’t dodge everything. This should illustrate that.
I would say berserker gear is ok, if the content would get more chalanging for beeing faster. but instead your are faster, kill bosses before they can react/become dangerous making the dungeon even easier.

Imho a solution could be to make ranged combat a more viable…..
We have it already, it’s called fractals of the mists. You should learn to play if you don’t use ranged weapons against most of the bosses.
Forcing parties to spread lowers insane DPS (just the time loss when you have to ress someone, but also kitten ons and stuff) and since ranged dps is lower it solves other issues.
Spreading parties means support becomes useless since it has limited range.
For example they could delete scripts that force bosses to avoid to use ranged Attacks while Whole party is melee.
I’m pretty sure there are no such scripts. Technically, it’s all based on priorities.
Also Adding ranged Attacks with reasonable Flying speed so at melee you can t evade them but with ranged targets priority so if all party goes melee they have a hard time and need thoughness.
If they spread, the party composition AND tactics start to be more flexible and varied.
Imbued shaman for 99,99% of gw population? Still almost every party stacks heavies while not stacking during fight.
While I’m not advocating this, the only way to “fix” beserkers is to either
a) make enemies who are vulnerable to conditions but relatively impervious to direct damage.
Dredges and lupicus are like that already.
b) remove beserkers as an option. Then people have to decide between power + precision, power + critical damage, and precision + critical damage. There would also be more variety in the last stat (healing, vitality, or toughness).
Remove zerker and valkyrie would probably be next one optimal gear. And in few months “So how to fix Valkyrie?” appears.
That’s amazing, please, tell us more. We don’t have many stories from outside world.
And here is the real issue. Not so much that zerker is good, but that you can run zerker with support skills and still come out ahead. Meaning that the problem is not that zerker has a massive impact, but that support/defensive related gear has virtually zero impact on the effectiveness of related skills.
Why should toughness have an impact on a shout?
What is needed is therefore a rethink of how PVE mobs present a threat. ANet needs to focus less on dodge or die “skill” (yeah yeah, “i swing a sword”…), and more on maintaining constant pressure. This will allow the defensive stats to shine more as it will allow people to stay in the fight for a noticeably longer time.
That’s by design. A lot of gw1 vets wanted to have mobs with players’ skills, that would include autoattacks and interesting fights. Instead we got slow attacks, most often being projectiles. No amount of whines will change it since it’s a fundamental feature.
Now in constrast, zerkers and “tanks” have to back off just as often. But zerkers take down the mob noticeably faster.

The problem isn’t berserker, the problem is the one-hit kill mechanics. Change it to more (lower) damage over time and healing may become viable.

Depends. If you slot your utilities for … utility, instead of pure damage and take a set of weapons that’s more suited for support, it does make a difference.
Eg. Hammer for Warrior doesn’t have the most DPS but it does have control which greatsword doesn’t have. Would you give up 100b for a few control abilities?
Currently that’s a non-issue because defiant completely counters hammer abilities.
I see we’re playing the same game. Most extreme example, warriors, take 1 utility slot that’s purely damage – signet of fury. Rest are support or control in some cases.

Ascended weapon can be acquired either through crafting or a drop. Lets forget drop for now. What do you need to craft it? Stuff you get by playing any kind of content. You feel like Dungeons? great you get dragonite Ore, gold you can use to buy mats / ectos etc.. You get rare drops you can salvage for ectos. Today you feel like Playing in Level 35 zone? materials you gather there is used in crafting of Ascended weapons too. You hate doing Dungeons? no problem Dragonite ore can also be acquired doing world bosses or guild missions or WvW or Invasions.
You don’t get dragonites for dungeons. That’s my issue. You have to buy a monkey to faceroll temple events. Or get yourself a cancer.
The game still gives you plenty of freedom how to acquire your rewards.
